Good job! When my old Craftsman router was having a hard time starting, I removed the bearings, removed the bearing seals, cleaned out the old hard grease with gasoline (world's best solvent), and regreased. Works great now, but the balls, cages, and races were in good shape in my case. I'm not sure how long the grease will last due to centrifugal force, since those things spin at close to 25,000 RPM. Not sure what the recommended grease is for them, but I think I used wheel bearing grease.
always satisfying to pop the bearings apart to see the carnage. if it could be heard over the noise of the compressor they had to be bad.
