Got to be honest, I had to watch this movie 3 times before I understood it, but it kept swirling in my brain and I had to keep going back to it. I count this as one of the key movies of the 1980's and have forced my sons to watch it with me many times. They've eventually learned to love it.
For some reason, the algorithm has me pointed to these BB videos. I’ve laughed my head off watching them and listening to the actors relish their time on the movie. I remember the movie coming out and seeing some of it on video but now I have to rewatch it. I love how Lithgow finally shoots Lloyd for protesting too much about his pronunciation troubles.
I loved BB the first time I saw it, and Christopher Lloyd's portrayal of John Bigboote was a major part of it. His uncloaked alien makeup made him closely resemble my maternal grandfather, and his over the top blowtop temper tantrum at the end was spot on!
I LOVE the fact that a movie that was seen by exactly 127 people upon release,myself included, has gone on to such revered cult status! It ruled then and rules now😎
Chris was a great "get" in a movie full of great gets! I recall rewatching Star Wars endlessly as a child but its Buckaroo Banzai I find myself rewatching as a grown up/older kid. Strange and wonderful magic this production gave and gives to the world of monkey progeny even if the suggested parentage is suspicious.

Does this documentary spend any time talking about Vincent Schiavelli? He’s one of my favorite character actors. I was so bummed at the news of his passing.
I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoy this movie! I have a disease called Narratem Verbatim. There are just so many quotable lines including but not limited to, "Big Boo tay! Tay! Tay!", "Blacks, are on dis planet, here, in'na New Jersey, coming to destroy us!", and the one here, "Damn John Worfin and the horse he rode in on!" The only other movie I can easily do lines from is Kelly's Heroes. John Ya Ya and John Small Berries, I salute you!
I used to play the Game "Pirates of the Caribbean Online", and John's Character gave me the idea, to name a Character in the Game "Felter BigBooty". People were wrecked 🤣

This whole movie is a treasure. Everyone in it is great. The story is weird yet strangely coherent. It's just the perfect 80's movie. I love it so much. I remember seeing it at a "sneak preview: that our projectionist used to run. I saw this before it opened and considered it a HIT! But alas, like THE THING it faded into obscurity only to be discovered by a new generation. LAUGH WHILE YOU CAN MONKEY BOY!

Same here when growing up, I assumed so because his character is so out there and crazy and well its John Lithgow and it would really fit. As loyd is rather serious in his acting than Lithgow here.
I like how this director made a Trump reference. He demonstrated how the mind warping gas, that hypnotized the people of earth to not see the aliens, is something he inhales on the regular. This moves was full of gaslighting, cognitive dissonance, and groupthink, I can't stop watching it.
