This is awesome. We just swapped a 13B-REW into a BRZ and we're using the stock trans. I'm glad to see he has some faith in them. We're making well over 300whp so we're gonna see how it holds up.
I love how the GR Yaris engine looks on the engine bay in this build. Wish manufacturers didn't cover up the valve cover with plastics. Also just wanted to say loving the regular content!!
Thank you!! Yes it's nice to see a modern engine like this cleaned up and brought to the center of attention rather than just being covered up with a plastic cover
This is super cool. Would be amazing to see one with the GRFour system as well for grip driving. I wonder if anyone has already done that. Also, he's not the only one that would be happy to rep speedhunters merch... Always loved the logo and lack of flashy illustrations on what I've seen previously.

This thing completely awesome in my opinion.. i wish this engine swap would be popular here in the USA 🇺🇸 .. and swap it into nearly everything.. great coverage bro 😎 👍🏾🇺🇸🇵🇭
Such a clean swap! I don't get the trend of sending exhausts through hoods but I kind of like the 90s fartcan sound + the ka-chining of a multi-plate clutch (on somebody else's car, of course.) Good to see your work on UA-cam by the way, hope your video-making adventures bring you through Ibaraki sometime.
Probably for direct flow and maximizing power. Although not that extreme, you can see these kinds of things in motor racing, like how modern GT500 (which all uses a turbo Inline-4 on the front) has their exhaust going right through the "passenger door" for example.
I like how the shop area is built up, it is so smooth descent. Loved the finish. Also, it is growing on me now, having a 3 cylinder is nice, as we can quickly swap the spark plugs.
Just came across your channel mate. Soo happy to see you on UA-cam. I know you will create some amazing content and being the car guy you are with the talent in photography is just going to be a great combination. Good to see you properly talking cars again. Still one of my highlights was when we caught up in Japan 😁
@@dino_dc 100% up for that mate, me, my brother and Jag were actually talking about how we need to make another trip over. So will hopefully be seeing you again. Again keep up the great work mate. One thing I want to say is I personally love how you add the camera details to each shot you take. Its something I always wonder what the professionals use to get such a good finish. Don't change that if you can. Its a small detail that no other creator in the car scene does like you do. Small touch but a real USP.
what an amazing video & even more stunning car 🤹♂️ fantastic workmanship on the whole build 😍 never thought a 3-zylinder could sound this rowdy and looking so clean in the engine bay 🤠
Awesome video! I've been following your articles since about a decade ago, I loved seeing your features and love that you are now doing the same type of content in a video style. I'm a first gen MR2 owner and fan and was wondering if there were any shops in Japan that specialize in them, I know Techno Pro Spirits was heavily involved with the ZZW30 and Kei Office had a crack at the SW20, but I've never seen much content from Japan of the AW11, Not even Best Motoring/Option/Hot Version content. It goes without saying that seeing one of these turbo 3s in a AW11 or ZZW30 would be an incredible combination! (While retaining the original transaxle drivetrain)
I've driven a stock gr yaris and the torque they have is incredible.. They pull hard.. In something lighter again and rwd it would be ballistic. Love this build
@@supongo_ that's just for the long block engine... I dont think it comes with the turbo... If it doesn't.. It will become costly fast... No ecu.. A motec is 7k aus..
That's impressive under any kind of scrutiny I'd say, the quality of the work seems absolutely fenomenal, that's an engine bay you could eat on! And so is the rest of the car. This said, I'm not familiar with the Yaris and its powerplants, I tought it was just a granny grocery getter, but I guess there's a performance version? Anyway, thanks for the tour, I really feel this guy's style👍🏻🖤🏴☠️
@@nicksothep8472 It's the engine from the GR Yaris / GR Corolla, definitely not your regular Yaris haha. The 1.6L Turbot 3-pot's codename is G16E-GTS, capable of producing around 260-300hp/370-400Nm. There's a lot of potential in 3 cylinder engines, especially in Japan where they are dirt cheap, however they are limited from making huge power due to cylinder pressures being massive, will need big aftermarket support to produce some strong parts so they don't blow up😅

Hey Dino, Your still photos & stories are FANTASTIC, but I think you need a little Zhiyun gimbal to get the best out of your video work 😕
Craftmanship and design is insane, nice find Dino. Love the concept of putting stills with the details of the camera, fantastic

A very fitting engine conversion i must say. The craftsmanship looks unreal. Can’t wait to see how it performs on track.
Mid engine perfection
No lie this was a dream moment when I seen the GR’s performance. The balance and power out of a smaller displacement doing AE86 things. Bliss

The integration of the photos with the camera and lens used 👌👌👌

Yes! I thought I wonder if anyone has dropped the G16E into an AE86, did a search and brought me here
