Ecodeisel CP4 injection pump locked up and caused right side of motor cam shafts (bolt came loose) to stop and valves to hit pistons, all rockers aslo broke. However there is a bright side to this as I belive the rockers are made weak and the fact valves move vertically in line with pistons, when they hit. (in my case) there was no bent valves or damage to pistons.
Still running great 12,500 miles since the rebuild, adding 4 oz Marvel mystery oil every 10 gallons.
Awesome job currently replacing the injection pump on my pas truck it’s a shame that these things are so problem ridden because they run amazing and have excellent fuel mileage
I get 32 mpg with my truck thats why i fixed it and its running great,I Would change Oil every 5,000 miles and fuel filter 10-15 thousand miles and add 4 ounces Marvel Mystery oil per 10 gallons diesel. USA Diesel has lubicrants stripped from it.
Getting rid of the EGR is the best thing you can do to make motor last a long time.
Is this the 3.0 that comes with the Jeep Gladiator?
Motor is running great about 750 miles so far, I did have to clean entire fuel system and replace Injection pump (rebuilt) and new Injectors see my other video. I am using 4 ounces of Marvel Mystery oil per 10 gallons diesel to lube pump. Calif diesel is stripped of important lubricants and this causes the CP4 injection pump to lock up. I am also changing fuel filter evey 10,000 miles and motor oil every 5,000 miles. Planning to delete egr, it will destroy this motor by pumping soot in the intake. The soot will clog up main bearings and cause them dry out and spin. I get 30 to 32 mpg with a 700 mile range.

Why you there to be better to replace the turbo coolant line that goes to the center of the motor. Question: Can you weld that bolt to the spin wheel
My used ecodiesel jeep sometimes staled on highway, I mean sometimes even when I floored the pedal, it would not accelerate. Is it a sign of the pump failure?
My fuel pump is making a rrr sound i think that bolt has come loose...
my 2014 ram high pressure pump went out couple days ago. the cp4 pump is under recall dodge said they dont have the parts and its already a year over due. so truck is sitting in the yard since i was quoted 9k to fix

The pump is under recall by Chrysler. Is your motor not under warranty if it was killed by the fuel pump? ( I realize it’s a 2015 ) but it should be covered. Assuming it’s possible to prove the fuel pump was the cause.
I did not know that, motor has 175,000 and fule pump locked up. Anyway I am happy my truck is running and getting up to 32 mpg
@@alanhiiesalu6158 Mines at 196900 Km and is stock. Replaced egr when it was recalled. Otherwise it’s been a great truck. I really like it. There must be others out there running fine as well. Or is it just a matter of time for all these motors? Going to check out the fuel additive you mentioned. Nice work on the video and the repair.
They are such a great truck and mpg cant be beat. Motor is a Rock solid 4 Bolt main with only 2 problems high pressure pump and ERG that clogs the motor. Delete it (EGR) if you can, Use a fuel addive to keep that pump lubricated and fule filter replaced often ( USA strips the lubricants from diesel). If it (pump) starts to fail alumiun starts to shave off (inside the pump) and the metal goes evewere. I think you can hear it when it starts to fail. They say 7% failure USA

How did you prove that it was due to the fule pump ( the dealership just replaced my fuel pump and fule system “ manufactur paid for it ) but now they tell me that this part is broken
This is about the best video I’ve seen on the Ecodiesel for a while. I followed the link but it only gave me about 5 pages about the egr, is that correct?
Can you remove the oil pump without having to remove the pickup tube?
Did you have any trouble timing your hpfp?
Been a while since I have read the post, I think i removed the pickup tube and the oil pump. Injection pump has to be timed #1 piston on compression stroke then you put a pin in the crank shaft to lock it. The hpfp has to be timed by lining up a hole then turning it -65 degrees. should be some post on how its done the manual does not cover this timing. The link should give you 500 plus pages and is the best to use if you want to tear down and repair. Motor is easy to work on after it is removed. You must follow every step to avoide mistakes.
Pulling the motor is the hard part. Take your time take pictures be carefull dissconnecting connections, fittings sensors .
Was this due to the high pressure fuel pump failed?? ( I have the same issue where my fuel pump failed and the gear is rotating freely
What About Additives? Like Dpf cleaner and " Hotshot " Everyday diesel Additive that claims to boost Cetane, add 25% more Lubricity etc?
Also, Do you pull alot of weight?
And does the 3rd Generation solve any of these issues ?

@@alanhiiesalu6158 I just watched a video of a truck owner cleaning his EGR , on a 2015 and he was Quite pissed off when he saw how much soot entered the intake manifold.
Thanks for Marvel Mystery oil trick, I am a little skeptical but will look into it.

How long did it take you to do the fox ( time wise )
Put a hemi in it it’s the only right repair I have seen nothing good about these Italian noodle machines however the engine belongs in a boat with no emissions on it

I called mopar for a replacement ecodiesel 3 days ago. They told me 18k but it's indefinite backorder.
That is a lot of $$,,, pull off the injection pump and see if there the gear spins. If so pull off passenger valve cover to see how many rockers broke. If the needle bearings have not fallen into oil pan then replace the roller rockers and re time motor (use the amazon tool) then do a compression test, if good then no bent valves. You still have to clean or replace entire fuel system. I was able to clean mine, see other video system. I did have to get new injectors. Mopar has them for $150.00 each.
Can you point me in the direction of the manual to disassemble and reassemble the engine.
The manual is huge and covers the whole truck look for the 3.0 motor. Motor come apart easy take a lot of photos and go slow, follow every step. I did not do bottom end or pistons as they were fine. If your injector pump failed then you have to replace or clean enitre fuel system. @@alanhiiesalu6158 thanks so much man. I just need to replace the head gaskets. Mine popped and it's over pressurizing. Exhaust gas is leakinging into the cooling system under load. I can't find anyone that wants to touch this thing. My ecodiesel is in a jeep.

I have an eco diesel and it is the biggest rip off with their DEF system and electronic neutering of the acceleration.
