Ram 1500 ecodiesel bearing failure
Ecodiesel Ram bearing failure, Likely cause driver side brake dragging causing mileage to drop from 29 mpg to 18 mpg causing motor to work as if there was a 12,000 pound trailer, looking at the 4WD diff you can see the splines that attach to driver wheel are worn bad indicating stress on the driver side. This was from the day it was purchased.

Incredible MPG of about 34 MPG on 108 mile loop. Ram Ecodiesel 1500 4X4 My emissions have failed no parts at dealer yet. I used a relay with small push button switch to start by passing Engine will not start message. Very simple fix and for me outstanding Mileage. I have gone about 20,000 miles no problem.
John Deere 310 wont shut off

How to check fuel solenoid for Sticking in on or off position. Touch wire to solenoid and hear a clicking noise. My Deere would not shut off when warm so i used a hose and cold water to cool injection pump, it the shut off. I clicked the wire by taping it to solenoid many times and adding Marvel mystery oil to diesel to loosen the gum up and it worked

Just completed re ring and hone on a 318D motor had to weld the pan also. Bearings and pistons were in spec so rings only. There was a lot of blow by and the rings were broken so it would not run. Run great now.

Don't let your friend let his friend run your heavy equipment. Removing parts to re ring a D318 motor had broken rings from overheat it barley ran. But got it to the shop to do repairs. I believe this is a 120 grader and i believe it has a D318 motor

I welded a cast iron oil pan for a 1957 Cat Road Grader and have a good weld. I was going to pre heat it but decided to try no pre heat. It was about 100 degrees weather and I welded an inch then did a peen to relive stress and it worked no crack. The rod from eBay is from Lawson Products EG13094002 and can be machined

I fixed broken 3.0 EcoDisel motor Cam shaft bolt came loose. Motor had to be pulled and parts replaced.

FCA recall Z-46 will replace the injection pump no cost. If your pump locks up it will take out the motor.

Could be a stuck solenoid,
@ it was a destroyed injection pump went out and got a new one and I think it’s been bad a long time I can feel the power difference since the swap
Can you just pull the flap forward on the mechanical pump and it shut off fuel flow or do you have to actually disconnect the hose
It is electric on off. I think it get stuck when hot, any way the water cools the pump and it shuts off. Or I tried cracking the fuel line.
@@alanhiiesalu6158 yes I know for the injection pump but on the cam pump can’t you pull the lever up and disable the cam pump from letting fuel flow into the filter
Why you there to be better to replace the turbo coolant line that goes to the center of the motor. Question: Can you weld that bolt to the spin wheel

Put a hemi in it it’s the only right repair I have seen nothing good about these Italian noodle machines however the engine belongs in a boat with no emissions on it

Ram should buy back all these ecodiesels. Just had mine in the shop getting the manifold replace cause of carbon build up, now they replacing the turbo. Got a recall for hi pressure fuel pump. For year and a half . Still no part available. Because it can sends out metal shavings like your truck. My truck is 2016, 1500 longhorn 4x4. It has been running great. It has 101,000 miles. The service guy said there's nothing to stop the carbon build up.

my 2014 ram high pressure pump went out couple days ago. the cp4 pump is under recall dodge said they dont have the parts and its already a year over due. so truck is sitting in the yard since i was quoted 9k to fix

Hello there 👋 great video. Quick question. I did and engine swap on one. The high pressure pump the engine came with was no good so I had to use the pump from the original motor. So I set both engines on TDC and then swapped the pumps. The vehicle ran but is running bad now. My question is, did I have to rotate the "new" pump to 65 degrees counterclockwise? Since I figured both engines where at TDC and I should have been able to just swap then across
Sorry it took so long for reply. You have to time the pump. Make sure 1 is compression stroke. I just lowered an injector and turned motor by hand till I started push up then found the hole for timing pin. Turn pump counterclockwise 65 degrees then put it on. I did replace all injectors. Best thing you can buy is a Thinkdia to check your timing and do cylinder checks or do a force regen. Only $100.00
my Ecodiesel engine just blow...i may need to rebuild like you because its hard to find a new motor due to the strike
Check lift pump and filter if bad replace. If no start check for aluimun shavings at the injection pump top if you find them then check compression on passenger side, if no compression then its probably what happened to my motor. If compression is good then probably clean lines fuel rails and return line and tank. Replace all injectors. That is if aluimun found

I have an eco diesel and it is the biggest rip off with their DEF system and electronic neutering of the acceleration.

I suggest changing fuel filter every oil change and add Marvel Mystery oil 4 ounces to every 10 gallons diesel IT WILL SAVE YOUR CP4 injection pump. Stop adding it when getting ready for smog check. I am now 30,000 miles since the repair. The mileage this truck in fantastic. Last run I did down to LA and back I got 34.2 MPG (Going speed limit 55 -65 mph) at first I thought this was wrong so I did a refill measured fuel put back in tank and yes 34.2 MPG
@@alanhiiesalu6158I recently had the new CP4 on my 2015 Big Horn Ecodiesel installed. As part of the recall, they put in a new filter. I was reading from people on the Ecodiesel forum of not getting the filter. The recall was from last year. The parts started to hit dealers back in March. Seems even the 2020-2023 Jeep and Ram are effected by this recall.

Still running great 12,500 miles since the rebuild, adding 4 oz Marvel mystery oil every 10 gallons.
Have 22 Ecodiesel 44,200 miles Loved it until it broke down this week. Had it towed to the dealer diagnosed that High Pressure fuel pump went out, took fuel rail all injectors all fuel system OUT!!! So my 22 is not recalled because supposibly mine came from the plant were the perfect trucks came from.....lol right. So warranty kicks in correct, But now they want proof of Services that are done by a professional!! I do my services I use correct filters, oils and rather service my own that trust someone. So they are looking for a quick blame... If running thru this suggestion you can Google lawyer that is Sueing them and join the law suit. I Will NEVER BUY A RAM NO MORE

This is about the best video I’ve seen on the Ecodiesel for a while. I followed the link but it only gave me about 5 pages about the egr, is that correct? Can you remove the oil pump without having to remove the pickup tube? Did you have any trouble timing your hpfp?
Been a while since I have read the post, I think i removed the pickup tube and the oil pump. Injection pump has to be timed #1 piston on compression stroke then you put a pin in the crank shaft to lock it. The hpfp has to be timed by lining up a hole then turning it -65 degrees. should be some post on how its done the manual does not cover this timing. The link should give you 500 plus pages and is the best to use if you want to tear down and repair. Motor is easy to work on after it is removed. You must follow every step to avoide mistakes. Pulling the motor is the hard part. Take your time take pictures be carefull dissconnecting connections, fittings sensors .

I have a 2018 ram eco diesel. And it seems that I have the same problem. But it happened in mexico as me and my family where on a family trip. So I’m stuck in the middle. 20 hours to go back home, or continue for another 14 hour to my destination and find a good shop. The question is can I call you if my mechanic has any problems on putting it back? Thank you
No problem, do a compression check on the passenger side and if it is good then the motor is good. Next check to see if CP4 pump good. Remove fuel quality sensor and look for aluminium shavings. If none found the you are in great shape. Change full filter every 10 to 15 thousand miles and add marvel mystery oil 4 ounces to 10 gallon fuel. The USA straps out lubricants and that is why they lock up and destroy motor.
I watched a u tube video on a engine failure and the disassemble of the engine. I decided then No not for .. For what it's worth and I not suggesting it will happen to you , I heard of TDI engine where the engine lost a timing belt and the valves hit the head as you suggested straight . The guy stated that he said later on the head of valve came off several thousand miles later supposedly from the impact. . thanks for the video . Watch in these videos helps in future investments
What About Additives? Like Dpf cleaner and " Hotshot " Everyday diesel Additive that claims to boost Cetane, add 25% more Lubricity etc? Also, Do you pull alot of weight? And does the 3rd Generation solve any of these issues ?

USA Diesel has lubicrants stripped from it. Getting rid of the EGR is the best thing you can do to make motor last a long time.
@@alanhiiesalu6158 I just watched a video of a truck owner cleaning his EGR , on a 2015 and he was Quite pissed off when he saw how much soot entered the intake manifold. Thanks for Marvel Mystery oil trick, I am a little skeptical but will look into it. -peace
The pump is under recall by Chrysler. Is your motor not under warranty if it was killed by the fuel pump? ( I realize it’s a 2015 ) but it should be covered. Assuming it’s possible to prove the fuel pump was the cause.
I did not know that, motor has 175,000 and fule pump locked up. Anyway I am happy my truck is running and getting up to 32 mpg
@@alanhiiesalu6158 Mines at 196900 Km and is stock. Replaced egr when it was recalled. Otherwise it’s been a great truck. I really like it. There must be others out there running fine as well. Or is it just a matter of time for all these motors? Going to check out the fuel additive you mentioned. Nice work on the video and the repair.
They are such a great truck and mpg cant be beat. Motor is a Rock solid 4 Bolt main with only 2 problems high pressure pump and ERG that clogs the motor. Delete it (EGR) if you can, Use a fuel addive to keep that pump lubricated and fule filter replaced often ( USA strips the lubricants from diesel). If it (pump) starts to fail alumiun starts to shave off (inside the pump) and the metal goes evewere. I think you can hear it when it starts to fail. They say 7% failure USA @@kodiak2053
How did you prove that it was due to the fule pump ( the dealership just replaced my fuel pump and fule system “ manufactur paid for it ) but now they tell me that this part is broken

Can you point me in the direction of the manual to disassemble and reassemble the engine.
The manual is huge and covers the whole truck look for the 3.0 motor. Motor come apart easy take a lot of photos and go slow, follow every step. I did not do bottom end or pistons as they were fine. If your injector pump failed then you have to replace or clean enitre fuel system. @@alanhiiesalu6158 thanks so much man. I just need to replace the head gaskets. Mine popped and it's over pressurizing. Exhaust gas is leakinging into the cooling system under load. I can't find anyone that wants to touch this thing. My ecodiesel is in a jeep.

I called mopar for a replacement ecodiesel 3 days ago. They told me 18k but it's indefinite backorder.
That is a lot of $$,,, pull off the injection pump and see if there the gear spins. If so pull off passenger valve cover to see how many rockers broke. If the needle bearings have not fallen into oil pan then replace the roller rockers and re time motor (use the amazon tool) then do a compression test, if good then no bent valves. You still have to clean or replace entire fuel system. I was able to clean mine, see other video system. I did have to get new injectors. Mopar has them for $150.00 each.
Motor is running great about 750 miles so far, I did have to clean entire fuel system and replace Injection pump (rebuilt) and new Injectors see my other video. I am using 4 ounces of Marvel Mystery oil per 10 gallons diesel to lube pump. Calif diesel is stripped of important lubricants and this causes the CP4 injection pump to lock up. I am also changing fuel filter evey 10,000 miles and motor oil every 5,000 miles. Planning to delete egr, it will destroy this motor by pumping soot in the intake. The soot will clog up main bearings and cause them dry out and spin. I get 30 to 32 mpg with a 700 mile range.

How many miles were on the engine when failed? How often were you changing oil? Do you have cp3 or cp4 pump?
173,000 miles oil changed every 10,000 miles. CP4 pump it locked up. Had to clean fuel system and replace injectors. But it running. Just posted 2 videos longer version

@@repairvehicle I was using Calif diesel, And Rotella Full sythetic 5-40 motor oil Now I am going to add and oil to the diesel. And I did not put the cover on the CP4, so if it starts making noise I can hear it better. And I am replacing the oil every 5,000 miles
