@BigVanSmallWorld do you still use your tilting solar panels on your sprinter? Now the sun's been low for a while just wondering if it's something worth while to do. TIA
I didn't know that about grated cheese!! 😲 You learn all kinds of things on Mel's channel. 😀
Haha I’m not so sure about that but thanks anyway 😁
@@BigVanSmallWorld 😅
Those Bloopers! 😂
I don’t know what I love more. Troll of the week or Mel’s mad meals 😂😂 love all the technical talk whilst you cook Mel 👍🏻👍🏻 you have me in stitches
Well done mel the lights look great
Speedliner Pro is a better product to use. It's a 2-part sprayable polymer that once cured will be scratchproof and anti bacterial. You will only need to coat it once and it will last a lifetime 💪🏻
Mel do some research on farmed salmon you might be surprised at your findings. It really is not a good option particularly if you eat it regularly. Also good to see you have embraced intermittent feeding but also there is good research to suggest that drinking before, during or after a meal is not good for your gut digestion. Might be worth looking into.
Thank you so much I did not expect to find out how bad it is and how much damage to the environment it causes no more farm salmon for me 👍
I did the Keto diet. The best diet I found for myself. 18hrs fasting, 6hrs eating window. I lost 1 stone a month, 6 months/6 stone lost. I had to come off it in the end due to meeting my target weight.
Also, even though it's a high-fat diet, my cholesterol, which is monitored every 6 months, dropped from 4.3 to 3.2 but it's worth doing a check on yourself just to make sure it is not increasing.
There are many tests out there that you send a little blood to the lab for a proper test.
Keep it up Mel and good luck. 👍
Great vlog Mel 👍
Very impressed with your switch of diet and intermittent fasting!Well done that man !
Lanoguard is essential for any van living in NZ, as we're a skinny long island, and very few areas are not affected by salty sea air. I'm no more than 4km from the sea (in the Tsunami zone 🙄) and many of the neighbouring iron roofing and fences rust so quickly. Gotta hose the car down after every drive on the beach
Love the unistrut rails, they make perfect sense if you can afford the weight. Cheers. 👋🇬🇧🇺🇦
Always brilliant having the unistrut 😊 wish I fitted mine with a rivit gun tho😊
Lunch /dinner looked lovely especially salmon ❤
It be so much space with your new home on wheels ❤
Maybe takes up room bud but is a beautiful van ❤
Hay buddy thank you 🙏
Thumbs up for the Lanoguard, great stuff if you can put up with Welshmen winking at you for a few days. I applly with a paraffin gun and a compressor, you can atomise it really fine for spraying inside box sections. Easy to apply and minimal PPE needed. Much nicer than that black tar stuff.
Use 2p pieces as washer, a lot cheaper
Hi Mel
You got to technically with the cocking section pink and green was all we needed
Keep them coming great entertainment 👍👍
Thank you 👍
Great video. You are so right to get the bodywork of your van and work such as the installation of your uni strut framework done before you progress to the interior. Well done. 👍👏
I think Screwfix is on Deliveroo
Great stuff Mel , i like your disposable trash can . Take it easy man .
Thanks 👍
Mel, ive seen several people use that 'Lanyguard' product and from watching their videos it really does repel water, all the best to you and Becky
thank you cant say i going to rush to using it lol
The reason why that German Vario is pretty much rust free compared to its RHD cousins is because its illegal to use road salt in Germany cause it destroys plantlife. So no salt on foot paths or roads 🤔.... and i also heard that the autobhn is heated .... 🙂
Wow that’s interesting 🧐
It may be an idea to change out the penny washers for those with the rubber seal, that way if there is any water collecting in the unistrut it is less likely to find its way through the thread of the bolt in the Rivnut.
Well done really hard graft and a long day Mel, I’d put some mastic under the washers , I can hear my dad shouting at me to do so . Good luck great vlog 👍👍👍🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦🦢
Don’t forget Mel you can get the clamps that bolt the two lengths together for extra strength 💪🏼 great video as always and the vario is coming on a treat 👍🏻
Hi Mel spot on with the solar, we have 700 watts of solar and it will work for us even during the winter. How much lithium will you be using.
Lanoguard is 100% worth it, made from Lanolin, the same thing in sheeps wool, that's why it smells of sheep. The smell goes in a few days. Never truly dries as such, it self-heals itself if it gets chipped, dries like candle wax so doesn't dry completely as such and is resistant to jet washing. I have it on my van and will be re-applying again soon.
I’m sure it will be great 👍
The angle of that ladder had me in a nervous state just watching you on it. You were defying the laws of gravity. However very informative and a lovely job thanks Mel
Sorry!
@BigVanSmallWorld
no need to apologise Mel
But as you always say "don't be simple keep it safe😅🤣
Have you thought about a 48v electrical system a lot cheaper and more power with a lot less hassle
Love the build videos which are always filled with useful info and the cooking/diet info interesting too. Cheers Mel 👍🚐
You could fit a auxbeam light bar to the front unistrut overhang.
Great video Mel as normal what’s happened to the lovely Becky and her van build
Mel your vario is looking really good mate , nice and steady always wins the day
I love my rivnut gun.
1,200 watts of solar panels is a good start, but giving them the option to stay put at a proper/better angle will boost their efficiency.
my fundamental rule of project planning when I lack experience - estimate time required accuratley then double it
That sounds about right 😂👍
Same goes for budget 🥴🤔😁
Good tip on the Riv nut and mastic tape Mel. 👍
Same with tea breaks 😆👍
I would have added some metal (big washers) as a reinforcement to the inner roof side ... (btw: there are watertight rivnuts ...)
They use that stuff in Aussie alot and it works a treat
Small washers Big van 🤣
mel what is the sealing strip or where do you get it from cheers JT......
Heya, it's amazing stuff - Mel always uses Mastic Sealing Strip - it never leaks, we're always using it to seal and fit our skylights and vents. He also used it to repair my old skylight that was poorly fitted originally and it's never leaked since! Here's a link direct to it here: amzn.to/3SYq2Fs
@@SACREDTRAVELLER awesome thank you
Are you putting drainage holes in the unistrut Mel. It might fill with water when you're parked up.
I dunno Mel - We're all worried about AI becoming a part of our lives - That Robots will be telling US! what to DO! - Seeing as YOUR Best Mate is Your Camera ... Maybe that's a lesson for us ALL! .. EH?? 😂
Zinc rich primer maybe for the uni strut drill holes, helps to heal the bare metal gap between the gavanised material. Which is of course...Zinc. Then again I have found Red oxide primer to be absolutely bullet proof on my land rover body panels (Aluminium). So glad to see you can get stainless rivnuts cos I used the cheap ones (Aluminium) to mount my brake lines on my galvanised chassis. To be corrected shortly.
Brilliant tips, Mel. Thanks.
You're so welcome!😉
So glad you finally started eating properly Mel! I have been following you for years and with all due respect I have often been surprised at the poor quality of the food you (and a lot of other youtubers) ate. Good food comes at a cost but I'm sure the change in your eating habits will pay off in years to come. ATB from Flanders!
hi mel. what size bolts did you use. m8 or m10. i want strongest for my unistrut. but noticed that the socket only just fitted. cheers keep up the great work
Another ace video Mel 😁
Mel great video as always 👌 one question. What county is Roy in now? 😂
Brill mel love your vids rob scotland 👍👍❤❤
Thank you 👍😁👍
Add to your salad goats cheese, beetroot, onion, got the same cheese grater been using for over a year.😂
those Varios are a way better built Vehicle compared to the Sprinter an other modern Vans.
Another great vid Mel. The food. VAAAANTASTIC.
Thank you 😋
I've been using lanolin for a while, I use chassis guard, it's just a cheaper version of lanoguard 👍 seems to work fine and it's less messy than waxoil 👌 the smell goes after a day or so 😂
I still use waxoil but only inside box sections
Thanks for the info!👍
Great intro dude :)
Wy didn't you use your electric bike to get the washers
I do sometimes when I’m not in such a hurry
lanoguard or any of the other lanolin based stuff is a definite must Mel, its disgusting how we put salt on our roads but other developed countries use hot water like japan, makes me think more and more that the UK is becoming third world.
I feel the same we are definitely in decline
Wild salmon is better for you as opposed to farmed Salmon .
Wash your toms Mel, loads of chemicals they spray on them.
Where’s the video with the finished van with the diesel cook top?
I’m working on it
I use janoguard on my cars, does not smell farmyard to me lol
9 pounds for washers. F me.
Why not use rubber washers instead of the mastic strip under the unistrut?
That's quite rare Himalayan sea salt, go easy.
H Mel how did the Lagun copy work out? is it still ok? Loving the build and detail engineering, doing a mwb sprinter myself, Have changed motor bike tyres in the past and they were hard enough... if i wore a hat I would take it off to you sir. well done so far .
The copy version was quite good....but there is significant differences once it's worn in...the slider for the mount isn't as rigid for holding it all in place and over time with the vibration and movement of the van - we can tell that the Laguna version is just that much better in quality, so just bear this in mind. However if you're more on a budget and don't mind a bit of wear and tear over time this one is also good and it's the one Mel purchased: amzn.to/3SZe3Yt
Cheers for the info I will go for the Lagun but cheep buy twice...
@@SACREDTRAVELLER
Yeah it’s all ok thanks for the positive feedback really appreciated 👍
Install your Rivnuts with a Smear of Silicone Grease.
Keep up the good work Mel, what Lanoguard kit did Jasper get? Cheers👍😁
Not sure
Not painting the roof first ?
I did it
@@BigVanSmallWorld Good man
mel what class is the vario can it be driven on a car licence or not cheers
It’s a HGV so you need class 2 license
Lanoguard isn't it lanolin from sheep's wool?
yep thats why it smells of sheep, the smell dies down in 2-3 days to nothing, I have it on mine.
I've never seen a rusty sheep, must be good
Hahaha love it
Always go next size up and give yourself some wiggle room
I was thinking bloody hell, he’s talking and moving about fast today.
Didn’t realise I’d accidentally set the playback speed to 1.25 lol
That's really weird. The very same thing happened to me 🤔
@@marcdewilde518 lol
you know screw fix does deliverys? 60 minutes or less
they won't deliver to us sadly - we've already tried many times...
Nice one Mel
Thank so very much 👍🤓👍
@@BigVanSmallWorld always like ur vids
1 meal a day is ideal.....i have a smoothie laced with supplements for the gut microbes which includes inulin powder for added fibre..wheatgrass,extra virgin olive oil, live yeast, and i get a kefir from sainsburys which is polish and comes in a litre carton..some forst honey, avocado, blueberry, banana and a full english...job done.the trick is to pack your meal with dense nutrition....and so you dont create an insulin spike i drink coffee with organic cream..oh i forgot i also add ghee to my smoothies which is fantastic for digestion as it coats the intestines making food travel through the gut without sticking..the indians swear by it.
Most screwfix deliver...
Within the hour.
they don't sadly offer that to the barn...we've tried many times
You need to get hair cut Mal😅
80% OF THE TIME YOU KEEP ON TALKING. WASHERS WHO CARES. WATCHING PARTS OF OTHER VANS. AND SO ON. WHERE IS THE BUILDING OF THE VARIO. ARE YOU A TALKS HOW OR BUILDING A CAMPER.
Mels going to start a cooking channel next !
AGREED
I look forward to seeing your videos
