    In this week's Tutorial Tidbit I will show you my tips and tricks for creating complex gel prints in pastel pink. The challenge with pastel colors is achieving multiple layers without getting too dark. Layering is the key for complex gel prints, varying the pattern of your stencil, and working from light to dark, and back to light again, are techniques that help you achieve this. Be sure to pay close attention to how I flip the stencil when I use it a second time.
    NOTE: I used one mask and one stencil in this tutorial, after filming it came to my attention that the stencil I used is discontinued.... booo, hiss. OK so I have a substitute stencil suggestion for you that will give similar results: Penultimate mask and Klimt Garden stencil

      Creating pastel papers with lots of layers is tricky, we all have a tendency to get too dark. I thought this would be helpful! Thank you very much, Debora.

    Thoroughly enjoyed this! Beautiful prints and techniques. Question: I am one who meticulously cleans paint off my stencils; it looks like you let paint dry on stencils - do you find it affects the stencil making contact with the plate? Thanks for everything!

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  Рік тому

      I don’t clean them. If they get thick with paint, I get a new one. !!

    Love those layers! Do you ever use zinc white for lightening, since it isn't quite as opaque?

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  Місяць тому

      I prefer opaque for this technique. I do not use zinc white, only Titanium! But, that's a personal preference. :) thanks for watching.

    Very informative! Love your videos! How often do you clean your gelli plate? And how? I have remnants of a sharpie outline that won’t come off with baby oil.

    • @ElizabethStHilaire

      I don’t worry about the gel plate being dirty! I just pull a print to take off most of the paint and call it done!

      That sharpie probably bothers you, but probably doesn’t affect the performance of your plate itself. Is that correct? I’m pretty new to this and just wondering if I should be extra careful with sharpies? Thank you!

    I could of used that for my flower, I did have a lot of pink so that was the only one I auditioned my prints for. I liked the pink flower so I will be doing more. I liked the two color printing so when I get the Q purple I’ll be doing one for the bird. After that I’ll be looking on patron for background cause I do have a print I plan to do I even have my larger canvis

    Great tutorial. I looked for your flower/petal motif stencil, but didn't see it. The Klimt garden pattern is not the same as the one used in the video. Is it possible the one you used is discontinued? Thank you, Elizabeth!

    • @ElizabethStHilaire
      @ElizabethStHilaire  Рік тому

      Hi Michelle, I noted below the video in the box with all the links that the stencil was discontinued and I suggested the Klimt Garden would be a good substitute. Thanks!
