    "Nearly every culture loses some of its traditions as time passes, but with a little artistic ingenuity, there are ways to keep some of the most time-honored traditions alive.
    Photographer Ula Kóska and makeup artist and stylist Beata Bojda collaborated on a photo series featuring traditional Slavic head wreaths specific to Polish culture and history.
    But Bojda used her background in styling and makeup to put a modern spin on the wreaths, and the results are stunning."

    The idea of laying an image under the plate to draw from is wonderful! I can't believe I never thought of that. Can't wait to try. Thank you, as always for the inspiration.

    Love this. Many people do not have time to create. Having all these shortcuts & giving people the " ok " to short cut is great. The more they can get fast good results the more they will want to create! Brilliant Jane!

      @FakeCheese Again I agree with your comment. I would never put it out as if I did it. I dont sell my artwork & if I ever got good enough to sell It, it would be with permission on the artwork, or my own. I’m 72 and live an hour from any classes or art stores for that matter. I just started learning to watercolor when I retired & moved to this remote location. All of my drawing & painting and products, such as colored pencil, acryllic, watercolor, oil painting, alcohol inks, etc thru books & utube instructors. If I had started this journey when I younger & had many years ahead of me, I would be on your path. I do art & learn, challenge myself to be creative in ways that make me happy & enjoy the process & have fun. If I spend 2 days trying draw something to paint, then it becomes too precious to paint, & I never learn how to paint. Even though I trying to learn to draw, its not my strong point, I will never live long enough to get good enough, & its my least favorite part of the process, no joy because the outcome is not satisfactory.

    I can't even guess at how many of your videos I have watched. I am always inspired and learn something new. But, having said that, this is hands down my favorite. I love working on my gelli plates and this is the 1st time I watched you and thought "oh, I can do that and get similar results". I had not bought your soft pastels, now I see I need too. With great appreciate for your generous time and inspiration; TFS

    I was thinking to myself the designs look similar to something I've seen before. When I go to my bookshelf to checkout the book I noticed it has your name on it. XDDD I had a holy crap moment. I bought the book years ago. The one I have is Drawing and Painting beautiful faces. I found it funny since I was looking for printers than youtube decides to change a little at a time of what I was looking for to distract me. haha

    Dear Jane, I LOVE watching you do this new technique! I like that you are not tracing or copying an image, but making something new. The original photo is stunning!
    I know I want to watch this again, because this technique gives a look of collage -- but as a print!
    Would this work on fabric? Would you have to iron the fabric after printing it to make it permanent?
    Thank you for this delightful video.
    Best wishes for your continued good health, prosperity and joy!

    I’m so glad to hear that when life gets stressful you are able to alleviate the stress by creating art! That is so inspiring to me! I also care about you (which must be such an odd thing - to have strangers all over the world feel a personal connection to you and care about you!) and am so glad to hear that you are doing things to take care of yourself. I really believe in, and constantly need to work to put into practice, the philosophy that you should love yourself and judge yourself as forgivingly and positivity as you would the people you love. I’m so much harder on myself than I would ever be on someone else (except people like, say, Trump - I feel very confident in my appalled and disgusted thoughts and feelings about him! 😂)!
    Thank you so much for coming out with a Gelli plate!! I’ve wanted to try one for years, but I never got around to buying one until yours came out (because I am addicted to your products). I LOVE it! I’ve bought more Gelli plates (trying different brands and sizes and shapes) and have discovered amazing mono printing artists on UA-cam. One in particular especially, named Robyn McClendon. She is amazing and I will reply will a link to one of her videos in a response to this one. I have to go and this is so long already, but I can’t wait to trace one of my favorite photos with my Quill pen and try using the pastels! Thank you! ❤️ ❤️❤️

    • @osofine23
      @osofine23 4 роки тому

      Thank you for the ❤️, Jane! I wanted to make sure I got the information about this wonderful artist who uses Gelli plates a lot in her work. Her videos tend to be long, and so I haven’t seen all of them (by a long shot!), so I’m linking to two of the shorter ones. I’m also aware that you life and schedule are super full right now and you probably don’t have much time to watch UA-cam. One video has her printing in a (“Butterfly Book” size... smaller than your big one - which I hope comes back to your product line!!) Journal with a gel plate and the other has her printing on tissue paper, which I thought went really well with what you did here with the thinner paper from your new book!
      So, her name (I’ve corrected it above, because that was just embarrassing!) is Robyn McClendon and she’s as abstract as you are figurative (although she beautiful ideas about creating personal mythology or “Art Mythos”, which makes it nice to jump between your videos. Here are the links for you and anyone interested!:

      ua-cam.com/video/-4znXgAh3JU/v-deo.html Gel printing on $1 Store Tissue Paper
      Again, Jane, thank you for the ❤️ and sending it back with special healing love for Tinsel! ❤️

    I tried doing this with my brand new gel plate (first use), using the Jane Davenport pen that she's using, markers, and clear gesso as the medium for taking the print - the drawing with the gold quill pen didn't come off the plate at all. I used baby wipes, I used alcohol sanitizer to try to clean it , but NOTHING is working! Where did I go wrong, and what do I do about it??? Does anyone know? I hate to think I ruined my plate on the first use.

    • @janedavenport
      @janedavenport  4 роки тому

      use Baby Oil to clean it - alcohol may dry your plate out. I haven't used it on the brand you mention -or with clear gesso - but it works on my Gelli Arts plate with matte medium and white gesso like a dream. (Also, make sure you have removed the acetate protector sheet).
