this video is an omnibus collection of pieces that (all or some?) appear in shorter mythvision videos. for example the first hour is "Your Bible Is Corrupted". don't get me wrong ... this is an enlightening listen and really appreciated. but when it comes to collating what i know and where i heard it, it's an unwieldy size to deal with. it would be great if you listed the YT posts where pieces of this appear in standalone form. i think for people who argue about these topics, it's useful to be able to say "this issue is discussed HERE", without referring to more material than relates to the immediate issue
Are you there for the likes or for truth? Here's unadulterated truth: 1) Gen 1:27. "Let us make man according to our image and likeness and let them have authority....": 2) Gen 3: Mankind fell. The image and likeness of God in man got lost. That's the mess this world is in. Gen 3. But...: 3) As Christ, God returns the divine life of the ages back to you-manity. For free, because of love, purpose, destiny. "I have come to give YOU Zoë (divine) life in abundance. It pleases the Father to give YOU the Kingdom. Freely I give you My Kingdom. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, freely i give, freely share. I WILL send Holy Soirit, He WILL be IN you, guide you into truth and give you explosive power. You will understand that the Father is in Me and I am in you." John 14-17. "Those that receive this abundance of grace, this free gift of righteousness will walk in Zoë/divine life" Rom 5:17. How do we receive? We are mesmerized by what we see and welcome Holy Spirit to change us in to Christlikeness. 2 Cor 3:18, Col 3:10. The Gospel: a restoration of a man/woman, back to the image of God. Changed by His very own Spirit working in you. Changing you from the inside out. An outpouring from within you. So wherever you are in your life, you have great purpose in life. Walking in the same divine unselfish love and glory/healing power as Christ. Growing in to Him in all things. Key-understanding: Christ, as the last Adam, represents all of humanity again in completeness. So, you too!! In Him you already are completed! Co-crusified, co-raised, co-seated (Ef 2:4-6), transferred, made perfect (Col 1:13, 1:22, 2:8-10) You start where He finished: "You and I are one. He who meets you meets Me. The Father is in Me and I am in you". "We grow into Him in all things to the fullness of God". What a God, what a love. He came full circle. Let's love on someone today. ❤️🎁🎊💪🔥💃🕺
You see the world in a whole new light when you understand that Religion's purpose is the control of populations. It's intent is to influence people to behave a certain way to make the warlords dictates ruling over them easier to do. The promise is an afterlife of bliss, but they must do as the deity commands - genocide? No problem. Infanticide? No problem. Mass murders? No problem. Whatever the deity commands. And who says what the deity commands? Why, the Priests of the Religion. They'll tell you what the deity commands. It's a sick, sick, world. The lies, the mass murders, the wars ... I'm done with them.

This collection of Jewish rabbinic writings, dating from the third to the sixth centuries C.E., shows that even Jesus’ enemies affirmed his existence. One passage says that on “the Passover Yeshu [Jesus] the Nazarean was hanged,” which is historically correct. (Babylonian Talmud, Sanhedrin 43a, Munich Codex; see John 19:14-16.) Another states: “May we produce no son or pupil who disgraces himself in public like the Nazarene”-a title often applied to Jesus.-Babylonian Talmud, Berakoth 17b, footnote, Munich Codex; see Luke 18:37. The Gospels give us a comprehensive account of Jesus’ life and ministry, including specific details about people, places, terrain and times-the hallmarks of authentic history. An example is found at Luke 3:1, 2, which helps us to establish the exact date when a man named John the Baptist, a forerunner of Jesus, commenced his work. There is so much more regarding Jesus and his times and, so much more on The Bible's authenticity and accuracy of its Hebrew pages from Genesis to Malachi. It is YOUR job to understand and believe, or not. No matter the case, "The Great Tribulation" WILL absolutely come soon enough, just look around you, the world, it was all prophesied. Religious studies were the cause and foundation of my eventually coming to atheism. Nobody knows who's right. Nobody can prove their god out of at least a thousand is the right one. It's all about control, ladies and gentlemen, using your fear of the unknown and death.
Christian listeners believe that the Bible is inspired/inerrant and that you must abide by the verse 'lean not on your own understanding' and so critical thinking is thrown out the window.
If God wanted to give us a written manual for life, I'm sure he would of made it more simpler if he cared about us at all. The arguments and conflict this book has caused is proof in itself that it is not a holy book. It might be full of holes though. Like everything else in this world, there will always be power crazy people who will corrupt and change something to use to fit their own agenda. God is within us. Worship God not an inanimate object, a book that was put together by Romans to control it's massive empire. When you drive a car you don't need to keep reading the manual. We've had the Bible for nearly 2000years. We all know what it says and we can let go of the crutch and can live our lives as spiritually evolved beings. Blind faith is a primitive mindset, take off the blindfold and you'll see God everywhere and in everything.
It's not ALL Christians (by any means!) who buy into the idea that every jot and tittle of the Bible is inerrant truth. It's the small and extreme subset who tend to dominate public discourse in one country (the US) but who even there probably don't represent a majority of those who self-identify as "Christian".
i've been watching lots of Bart Ehrman and James Tabor. What listeners like me really appreciate is getting to Truth no matter where it leads and not taking the New Testament at face value which so many people do.
For none is justified by works save by Grace alone. Neither David, nor Job, nor Ezekiel, or is it Abraham. All are saved by Grace alone for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
Know the Truth and the Truth shall set you Free and whom the son sets free is free indeed. Free to love one another, as I have loved you and by this the world shall know that you are my disciple...No other name given unto men by which we must be saved but by the Name of Jesus.
@@lostintranslation1957 how odd. Atheism isn't a religion. Pray tell, what is it that Atheists worship? That's laughable. Here, let me help you. Atheists don't believe in the existence of a god, any god, because they have no good reason to. Provide evidence, solid, testable, demonstrable evidence, and they'll acknowledge the existence of a god. That doesn't guarantee they'll worship it though. They have more sense than that.
From a Muslim to you, thank you for such discussions. I think it is very important that people understand the roots of whatever religion that they follow. This is extremely knowledgeable and a great learning experience
Islam originated from our religion Judaism... there are clues to it in the Qur'an such as Islam being the final iteration of Allah's approved religion... btw us real Jews (not the European Jews) pray almost exactly as the Muslims do including taking shoes off, holding hands before the heart , bowing at the waist, then bowing to the ground forehead and tip of nose. Then when one rises, you say Baruch Hasham Adonai Allahainu as one rises from sajdah similar like the Muslims do
@@yassasloan7308 Your religion Judiasm? Dude! Judaism didn't even exist at the time of Moses while Islam did while Muhammad was still alive. Moses wasn't a Jew he was a Hebrew and so was Abraham not a Jew.
They handpicked ancient books that were considered holy. They put together the ones that involved the God of Abraham. They intentionally left out books that were more mystical

You are two of my favorite people, because even when I question your interpretations of the facts, I never cease to be impressed by your commitment to those same facts. Please never stop being your highly enlightening selves.
Lol I definitely said "what is Derek doing?" when I saw the fireworks on Dr. Tabor. That was great and I'm glad ya'll left that in. The show itself has been wonderful so thanks Derek for all you do and many thanks to the scholars as well.
The greatest Biblical scholars of our time. Not since the great German theologians and historians of the 19th and 20th centuries have we seen such intellectual honesty and integrity.
Misquoting Jesus was the final nail in the coffin of my deconstruction. I don't know why, and I can't really defend it, but I (stupidly? Naively?) just ASSUMED (since so many people over thousands of years!) based thier entire lives and ETERNITY on this book, that we had a good, reliable original. I was very disappoint. 😐
I found Barts podcasts 5 years ago after trauma and almost dying I was a very Christian woman and I literally defended my faith to a Muslim who tried to destroy my soul but I prayed an prayed but I still ended up in ICU . Now I’m finding I accept they I can never feel the same which was naive but I had beautiful spiritual experiences which I can’t deny for out of this world , cognitive dissonance on steroids happened. I choose to believe in spirit but not religious just knowing there is a higher power but none of it is religion . It’s liberating at times .
Why would anyone worship a Jewish rabbi named Jesus is beyond me except brainwashing and human are generally sheep’s this applies to all religions but when it comes to Christianity it’s cray from worshipping a Jewish man to confusion in doctrine such as the trinity and infighting between Christians over the interpretation of the trinity to the idea of Paul vs Jesus , did Paul open the doors of Jesus to non Jews etc .
2 Timothy 2:21-24 CEV That's also how it is with people. The ones who stop doing evil and make themselves pure will become special. Their lives will be holy and pleasing to their Master, and they will be able to do all kinds of good deeds. [22] Run from temptations that capture young people. Always do the right thing. Be faithful, loving, and easy to get along with. Worship with people whose hearts are pure. [23] Stay away from stupid and senseless arguments. These only lead to trouble, [24] and God's servants must not be troublemakers. They must be kind to everyone, and they must be good teachers and very patient. I don't know that were not the Gospel Teaching!
3:17:00 it is such a pet peeve of mine when people “ask questions” just as a front for promoting their marginal, pet ideas. I find it so disrespectful, especially when doing this to eminent scholars. It is a selfish waste of everyone’s time. The etymology of “Joshua” is incredibly clear, as Dr. Tabor explained the first time this pet idea was thrust upon the stream, to anybody who knows Hebrew, and it has nothing to do with “saffron”. The Hebrew word for Saffron (in antiquity) is כרכום (karkóm), completely unrelated to the Akkadian word azupīru/azupīranu. The Akkadian word for saffron comes from the Semitic root *ṣ-p-r, meaning “to become yellow”, as in Arabic ṣufr (“brass”), ṣafar (“jaundice”), and ʔaṣfar (“yellow”).
Was the trinity verse that is not supposed to be in the Protestant Bibles, is it found in the Volgate Bible, or Duoy/Reims? When were these texts changed?
I've just recently came across Dr Tabor and am trying to find out exactly how he views the New Testament. Does he believe it's accurate enough to study or should it be viewed with skepticism? Obviously, I've always read it right alongside the Tanakh. I'm a believer, but do not call myself a "Christian". I follow the laws of Torah and worship as closely as possible to the way taught by the Tanakh (as much is allowed without a Temple or being "in the land"😊).
Isn’t Tanakh is also made up, its very clear when you read Tanakh that losers had wrote for their survival, the books give feeling that poor Vanuerable group of people on the name of Yahweh keep threatening the powerful kings, Even this group of people was small in number, reading Tanakh is Evident that low corrupt morals was excerise by them, their only regret was that they were not powerful, so the invent the stories like Dreams of Joseph and his dreams comes true and he than became powerful kinsman of king, treatment of slave too was not different from non Jews people, Ruben Rape of slave mother Bilhah is clear example of that but same people anhilate when Dinah Rape happens, so double standards where seen, their are many examples, to prove that this group people was playing with others on base of dreams and false claimes of talking to God.
Texts dont need to be accurate in order to study them (depends ofcourse what you mean by studying. There are people who study fiction as well) and everything should be viewed with skepticism.
*Christianity Vs. Christianity ;* I'd love to see a book on the history of Christianities prosecution of itself and the believers that had different interpretations of the Bible. The many & varied consequences of disagreeing with the Christian "status quo" (popular version) throughout it's history.
@@KathrynsWorldWildfireTracking Where & when did I mention anything about Constantinople or Istanbul ? (odd) BTW ; Constantinople first, Istanbul, later after the Turkish Muslims conquered the city.
@@moodyrick8503I thought you'd get the connection. Christians sacked Constantinople during a Crusade...weakening it permanently. A major step towards Muslim conquest. You wanted to know about Christian vs Christian infighting and consequence...no better example.

How many Christians does it take Dr. Tabor for one of you to really practise the teachings and go all the way until he or she becomes a true Teacher? And what is it that a true Teacher actually comes to teach? 😇❤👣
I wonder if the Trinity was added as Christianity moved north, where there were examples of three spirits in pagan religions to make people more comfortable when families could be both Christian and pagan in one household.
They’ve been altered recently. Where, in the New Testament they said “He will not break a bruised reed” and “He will not quench a dimly-burning wick” which are mis-transliterations from Isaiah, now they have switched the syntax around again in the NT in versions I’ve seen so that the metaphorical subjects of the sentences are correct. ie - although he is a dimly-burning wick, he will not quench And although he is a bruised reed, he will not break That is ‘the suffering servant’ It’s not that he won’t break a bruised reed rather he *is* a bruised reed.
If you speak Spanish or another romance language--what Dr. Ehrman discusses about Peter and a rock would be clear. Pedro is Peter in Spanish, and the name is masculine; on the other hand, piedra is rock or stone and this noun is feminine.
Thanks for that! We Americans are spoiled in that so much of the world now speaks English, and we're typically horrible at learning another language. I took 4 years of Latin in high school, and a lot of people say,"Why?! It's a dead language". I'm not fluent in anything but English, but when reading French, Spanish or Italian,I can muddle through fairly well. Being a musician who does a lot of score study and my favorite composers are all French and Spanish gave me practice. Tres bien, mon ami! Magnifico! Gracias!
I wonder why we continue looking to the Middle East for our religious truth, rather than seeking spiritual truths from the world's other regions which our ancient ancestors came from?
because the christian sect of the jewish religion got to morph through a symbiosis with a Greco-roman religions and civilization and eventually ,through few centuries' of bloody battles won the public arena discourse, but hopefully, it seems ,we are beginning to see cracks in this metastructure and finally might arrive at truer and better view of reality. The time isaboutright to get rid of old tales and create some new gospels for our times.
Born into a High Church Episcopalian and Lutheran family who weren't particularly religious, I was left to explore my own religious path. Not only that, but my grandmother, I suspect, was an agnostic. At 17 I met a young man reminiscent of Sal Mineo. A Sicilian with relatives in the La Cosa Nostra and obviously a Catholic, it was too romantic for me to pass up. Besides, my father had died when I was seven and Mom was always worried about my younger brother getting into trouble. I became almost invisible at home and here was this vibrant loud very loving family who welcomed me, a girl of German and various European blood, with open arms. The Cathedrals were beautiful, the ritual mesmerizing, and I had to join to marry this young man. So I did. Catechism then eventually baptism with his aunt and uncle as my sponsors later, we were married where I agreed to raise the children as Catholics. Two years and two children later we divorced despite not getting dispensation from the Pope, but I remained closely connected to the family. He was ceremoniously kicked out, dead, to the family. Yes, they do that and, yes, it happened with a spit at his feet but no kiss, a slap instead. In a bowling alley located in the Little Italy of my city, I spent every week as score keeper with my former mother-in-law, her sisters, one my godmother, and other women on their team. Then I met the La Cosa Nostra member of the family in that same bowling alley. He was something of a respected embarrassment to the family. I continued to go to mass sporadically. Then a priest, in his sermon, told us who to vote for and said voting for his opponent would be a menial sin and I began to rethink religion. Questions, discussions, and several debates later, I left the church altogether. The kids still went with their grandparents. In advertising, I did a lot of research and met lots of people, one of whom was a White Witch who taught at the college here. I found her as fascinating as I did THE CHURCH. She took me to a ritual in a forest where everyone was robed, faces hidden within hoods, and sincere about their connection to the "powers of nature." The mayor of our city was there too as a participant. Surprise. The head-witch taught me about their beliefs which were actually quite lovely. The head-witch read the tarot cards, of course, for me. We didn't remain friends because I saw too much similarity between the belief in unseen magic, one on the planet with the one in the sky. From there, I married again then divorced and married my attorney, a Jewish corporate litigator. Judaism became an interest. His family included me in a Seder reading at dinner. So, I very briefly studied the religion, realizing quickly that it was more of a culture than a religion. We divorced. My religious journey after that was non-participatory research instead of indoctrination. A much longer story made short later, I discovered Atheism and have been one for more years than I want to say. However, I do not declare there is no god, any god, because there's no way to prove that, right? I use Matt Dillihunty's explanation: "I don't know if there's a god or not. I have no good reason to believe in a god." Today, I study Christianity only because of the Christian Nationalism Movement which, like the Women's Movement, I have become something of a warrior for the latter, a warrior against for the Christian Nationalism movement. Listening to this broadcast, I have gathered so many more weapons. Thank you, not only for confirming my Atheism, but for confirming my gut feeling that it's all about the fear of death, control, campaign fodder, and today, a very profitable business. I have so many questions for you guys. Sitting down with you would be hazardous for my health since it would involve too many pizzas, too much wine, and several days without sleep, not to mention carpal tunnel from the notetaking.
The Koran also criticizes the change in the Bible and the Torah. God has condemned Chistians and Jews for this. Examine the Koran and you Will find many andewers. You van also listen to lectures by Zakir Naik. He tells what went wrong with the bible and the Torah and what true faith is by God.
@@m.darghal1984 why would I care what a poorly written and unproven text says? Of all the books ever written, I think the Bible, Torah, and Koran should be banned. They're ridiculously irrelevant.

The reason Peter was the rock on which the church was built was simply because the authenticity and sincerity of his faith in and love of the lord, that is, in spite of his very failure and obvious weakness from an external vantage; yet the Lord saw the power, hence the rock, of Peter's character, not the simplicity of a fisherman, or the failure or faltering of faith that was so infamous to all
So very early in this podcast Bart says “…there are hundreds of thousands of differences…” when he references his copy from a copy from a copy idea in surviving manuscripts. That’s a big number and I guarantee you he can’t back it up on a scholarly level. Bart infamously exaggerates such things but that in and of itself doesn’t invalidate his work.
I'm Christian and if you look at all into the subject you might have a change of mind.but that doesn't make Jesus fake just shows how belief of man and church are much like the farisee and sadusee of chist time. different verses of same books in different areas of Christianity. theology arguments put into scripures over areas of control from the many sides Greek Roman's had control first empire wise.then Roman catholic took control empirely and killed all that they could and they burned done and killed the city and killed the pope and the once that could ran to areas were they could survive in Russia area.then the protesters against the abuse of catholic power came along and got red of several books of the bible. anything new here? and along comes modern day and theologians of Christian denominations have much different scripures and books they quote from.saved by faith saved by babtism.saved by love just what book's you choose to lead your followers. but don't talk about prayer tought by Jesus in private and no speech and if you must Must say the lords prayer. but some say if you repeat then you are like some other group. if you don't understand what is being said and themeaning and listen of said saying would be so.but Jesus said them according to the author.paul fights on the side that says that the prayers of the sadusee and farasees have no effect on the food. but sum will quote one sentence that says all food is clean but the whole thing was about prayer and food so taken in context that they were eating wheat considered clean but needing prayer is that sentence to be taken as it is.translated from the Greek with many different versions to be found from the whole area from different times.not until printing press could you lock down even what was in stated book. but the books were written to the people of that time and what would they understand from their history and language
and theological dictionary and the legal dictionary and medical dictionary and your English dictionary are all different. so how was it translated? and what is not in the bible but stated by the church that was translating can push it one way or the other by what world you use.like in the different translation even when you all come off of one translation as it is done today
@~2:40 "I've been teaching 33 years over there..." this might the main reason as to why Satan does not need to manifest to people as before, with so many teachers like this one we are surely heading to the fulfillment of Luke 18:8, "...Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” @~3:05 These are the reasons why a Pure God as the God of the Bible "overlooks," sort of speak, our unworthiness because JC is our mediator before the Almighty throne of God. God the Father does not look at us but to our Lord JC and listen our prayers when believers acknowledge JC as the Lamb of God who takes the sin of the world. @~3:35 The RCC did use entire armies to persecute Protestant believers on the Middle Ages fulfilling Revelation predictions. Today, the RCC is in the position of regaining the same powers thanks to the globalist tendencies.

@5:20, when professor Ehrman says, "the doctrine of the trinity",in relation to "1 John 5:7", he is misrepresenting the verse. The correct representation of this verse is "the witness from heaven". 1 John 5:7,9 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. [God is in heaven: the witness is given by him.] [9] If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. ● Now, professor Ehrman does not only get how he represents the verse wrong, he also gets the number of times that the content of the verse is stated in the new testament. [He has sought to create some hedges around himself by using the phrase "explicit statement". However, it is not just the the exact wording of the verse that matters: it is the understanding of what is conveyed by the wording of this verse.] The verse says, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit are one. (Replacing "word" with Jesus) The Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one. ● Here what is stated in "1John is condensed in John 10:30. John 10:30 I and my Father are one ● A proper reading of the books of the gospels reveals that: ● Matthew 3:16,17, tell us what "1 John 5:7", tells us. Matthew 3:16-17 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: [17] And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. ● Mark 1:9,10,11 , tell us what "1 John 5:7" tells us. Mark 1:9-11 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. [10] And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: [11] And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. ● Luke 3:21,22 , tell us what "1 John 5:7" tells us. Luke 3:21-22 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, [22] And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. ● John 1:32,33 , tell us what "1 John 5:7" tells us. John 1:32-33 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. [33] And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. Note: [The Spirit can only "descend" upon someone "bodily" and "remain" on them if they and the Spirit are one.] ●● Here is shown four different witnesses that give the same witness, as "1 John 5:7" , which is; the Father, the Word/Jesus, and the Holy Spirit/Ghost are one. The Trinitarians are wrong with their representation of God. The Bible is not wrong with its information about God. Professor Bart D Ehrman is wrong about what he has stated concerning the Bible. 1 John 5:7 is supported as being correct and as belonging in the Bible.
If you really want to know what scholars in the Roman Empire thought of Christianity, read a Greek scholar, Celes, who wrote a manuscript in 132CE titled " Egyptian and other Eastern Mystery Religions". It tells us of his research into Joshua Ben Pentara/Josep - known to us as Jesus Christ. The early Christian church hated it so much that after the Council of Nicea, they tried to destroy all copies. Few remain, and biblical scholars even today try to rubbish it, even though they can't refute it.
The internet is not the be all for information. This is why I still read books. There is even places that were famed landmarks in my youth, that don't exist. Nor can they be found on Google. So much so, that a group of us made an author write a second edition of local history book because he literally didn't know these places existed.
Jesus never said he is God nor worship me nor what did he do in marys womb for nine months and was he running the universe or did mary worship Jesus when feeding or cleaning him or Many more questions and confusion Jesus never preached trinity nor explained the concept to his disciples So many confusion and contradiction
The sentence that apostle Peter said, we have given up everything to follow you! and 'who then can be saved?' But the longer sentence with the words in it that jesus supposedly took and used are written differently
I actually had the honor of meeting E. R. Goodenough. I knew him through his sister, who is a brilliant psychiatrist and therapist who has written extensively on the science behind confidence, and the fostering of positive self image. Her name is Ami Goodenough.
I’m very impressed with the presentation. I have a question which complicated my belief and filled with suspect is the type of Christian bible, and why is difference come to happen? It led me to expect that there are a number of “God” are equal with the books.
Each version is interpreting the original written language into English. For hundreds of years the King James Version (because it was authorized to be translated into English by King James) was considered the most accurate interpretation. But English is not spoken as it was back in 1611, so now others have interpreted the original script into language that is more easily understood by modern English speakers. And scholars studying the original writings have slight changes in the meaning of words into our modern language. So, although different versions, they are very similar in meaning.
The sentences are different based on how the writer's knew about how the sentences the conversation's were either told about them or how they witnessed the conversation's themselves
It is the same thing with other sentences that were written with different words and with out the other words that were said on in the other book of Mark as it is shown written on in Matthew
If God is all knowing, then he must have knowingly set Jesus up to be murdered? And if God is so fragile as to die on a cross, then how could he survive in the inhospital area of outer space? Of course it all sounds Ludacris to me. Former Catholic Priest Alan Watts claimes that Everybody and Everything Is God in his lecture - On Being God.
@@James-wv3hx he literally predicts his own death. It's in the bible. and no, God is not dead. Only his flesh died on the cross, through the Shead of his blood he formed a new covenant. that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
@@Usernamebreh what's the point of it. God hates the people that he creates. He murdered millions in the flood. He commands different tribes to murder all of the men woman and children of other tribes. To smash the babies brains against the rocks until rivers of blood flowed through the streets. But to keep the young virgin girls as sex slaves. Why would any artist or anything with a brain create things that it hates? Mark Twain said that religion started when the first con man met the first fool. Like l said, it was a lie that he gave his son. You just said that he's not dead!
I would highly recommend studying the NT historical genealogy. Once you spend your time doing that, I think you will come to the conclusion just how accurate the 1611 KJV version is, followed by the current KJV. Never accept one side of the argument b4 hearing the other side. A good primer is Jason Lisles lectures.
Trinitarians have propagated this, “You cannot be saved if you do not believe in the Trinity!” This is critical. In the past, the Roman Catholic Church has caused hundreds of thousands of Christians to be tortured, excommunicated, and persecuted for not believing in the Trinity. Trinitarians, both Catholic and Protestant, have executed many believers in Christ for not believing in the Triune doctrine. One of the most notorious executions was done by the Protestants: the execution of Michael Sevetus! Christians are to “Test all things; hold fast to what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21). The freedom to test all things is a fundamental right for all Christians, and Christians should never be denied the right to pursue all truth. Censorship exists in most churches and open discussions on certain doctrines are discouraged. We are admonished, “But even if you should suffer for righteousness sake, you are blessed. And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled. But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed” (1 Peter 3:14-16). How does one defend something that God never revealed to be true, and only exists as a (Trinitarian) doctrine because men gathered in two or three Councils (the Council of Nicaea in 325 CE, the Council of Constantinople in 381 CE, and the Council of Chalcedon 451 CE) with the audacity of defining God? The confused minds of these bishops have caused a doctrine of confusion. Modern Theologians admit that the Trinity is “beyond the grasp of human reason” (THE ENCYCLOPEDIA AMERICANA, Vol. 27, “The Trinity,” 1980). Could the God of the Bible be the author of such confusion, never! The doctrine of the Trinity is all about confusion. Confusion, such as the Trinity, has no place in the doctrines of God, or the Bible, as “God is not the author of confusion” (1 Corinthians 14:33). “Neither the word Trinity nor the explicit doctrine appears in the New Testament…The doctrine developed gradually over several centuries and through many controversies… It was not until the 4th century that the distinctness of the three, and their unity were brought together in a single Orthodox doctrine of one essence and three persons” (see “Trinity”, THE NEW ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA, Vol. 11, p. 928, 1985 ed.). In other words, the God of the Bible has never been revealed to be a Triune God, a Trinity. Christianity had no concept of God being a Trinity until the 4th century when bickering men of the clergy sought to define God, not by His revelation, but according to their terms, “homoousios,” “essence,” indeed! Apostolic “Christianity did not have an explicit doctrine of the Trinity such as was subsequently elaborated in the creeds” of the 4th-century church (see “God”, THE NEW INTERNATIONAL DICTIONARY OF THE NEW TESTAMENT, Vol. 2, p. 84). If one must believe in the Trinity doctrine to be saved, what of the early Christians who knew nothing of the doctrine of the Trinity up to the 4th century CE? Historian writer H.G. Wells, stated: “There is no evidence that the apostles of Christ ever heard of the Trinity-at any rate from him” (The Outline of History, Vol. 2, p. 499). Martin Luther, of the Protestant Reformation, in a documented sermon preached, “It is indeed true that the name ‘Trinity’ is nowhere to be found in the Holy Scriptures, but has been conceived and invented by man” (THE SERMONS OF MARTIN LUTHER, Vol. 3, p. 406). Two major Scriptural pillars of the Trinity are Matthew 28:19, and 1 John 5:7, and scholars consider these verses to be interpolations, words that were added later to the Bible. Scholars such as F. C. Conybeare have shown that the Trinitarian baptismal formula of Matthew 28:19 was not original to the text of Matthew, and therefore is, in fact, an interpolation (F.C. Conybeare, "The Eusebian Form of the Text of Mt. 28:19," ZNW 2 (1901): 275-88). Christ never said, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost…” (Matthew 28:19 KJV). In other words, this phrase in the text "baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost," was not known in the Apostolic Church before the third and fourth centuries. Indicating that the disciples never knew to baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Was this phase inserted at a later date (say, for example, after the Council of Chalcedon in AD 451)? The statement of Christ, as opposed to Matthew 28:19 an interpolation, appears to be in the Gospel of Luke, and we read, “Then He said to them, ‘Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem’” (Luke 24:46-47). Where is the evidence of Matthew 28:19 being an interpolation? According to the church historian, Eusebius, who quotes Christ, according to the original text, saying in Matthew 28:19: “Go and make disciples of all the nations in My name” (Eusebius, THE HISTORY of the CHURCH, p. 68, Penguin Classics, 1965, completed by Eusebius c. 316 CE, see “Introduction,” p. xxxii). This explains why the disciples of Christ never baptized “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” because the Lord never said to them to go baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Another glaring proof is that the disciples were never baptized “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.” Proving that Christ’s quote in Matthew 28:19, in the Gospel, as written today, was not original. The baptismal formula of Matthew 28:19, as it presently stands is in direct contradiction with all of the following passages: [Acts 2:38 NASB] “Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” [Acts 8:12 NASB] “But when they believed Philip preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized, men and women alike.” [Acts 10:48 NASB] “And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.” [Romans 6:3 NASB] “Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?” [1 Corinthians 1:13 NASB] “Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?” [Galatians 3:27 NASB] “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” According to the Church historian Eusebius, the original Matthew 28:19 quotes Christ, saying, “Go and make disciples of all nations in My name.” This would conform with baptizing in Christ’s name only by the disciples as commanded by Christ. The conspiracy to change the words of Christ in Matthew 28:19 to bolster the Trinity doctrine also included redacting of the Didache (7:1), and all church writings previous to the 4th century. It includes the proven and well-known interpolation of the Johannine Comma, 1 John 5:7. Despite the Orthodox/Roman Catholic thoroughness to conform all writings of the early church to their Trinitarian doctrine, they evidently overlooked Eusebius’ History of the Church, and so the exposed conspiracy continues to this day!
I wish I were strong enough to go to sleep at night without praying, but my encounter with evil was too severe. Great to have all this new NT info and does not diminish but refines my faith.

Your genetic composition has millions of connections from them. They silently but truly live on in you and can help you make good choices.
Jesus "the only begotten son of God"isn't an individual person ,it's a title. Hinduism it called avatar or those who come from a higher conciousness to help ours evolve. The efforts of the Elohim,Avatars, Annunakis to evolve progressive men to inhabit the earth, thus form men whose life should manifest the DIVINE. Making earth holier than heaven so we can bring God down to Earth ,not kill people so we can go to heaven. "As long as we continue killing, be it animals or fellow humans, awaiting for us are wars". I hope with all my heart that you also consulted St. Jerome when the Greek translation was again translated into Latin. St. Jerome was quite thorough when he consulted the original Arameic. As a matter of fact I am surprised you did not mention Jerome? To be fair I have not read your book. Mentioning Jerome's participation is a must! (Including Augustine. Remember that the Egyptian library was burned. St. Augustine came from Egypt and might have had access to more sources that aren't currently known. Please don't be so hasty when declaring your conclusions or lack there of.
The whole concept of the jesus "family" were deeply involved with establishing the "church" in fact im pretty convinced that they were all involved with the grift
Here are a few of Bart's unsubstantiated presuppositions which he uses to arrive at his predetermined and unsustainable conclusions. 1. Bart says since we do not have the original text therefore we cannot know if we have an authentic record. Using this same criteria we would have to dismiss the record of every ancient book because we do not have any those original autographs either since they all decay with time. It is standard procedure to assess reliability based on the agreement of the copies. 2. Bart says the Alexandrian text is the closest to the original text. This is pure speculation which goes against the real evidence. The early church writings are replete with Scriptural citations that do not show a connection to the Alexandrian text. Those citations are more ancient than the extant Alexandrian texts that we have. We could not even construct a complete NT without the Byzantine family of texts because the Alexandrian texts are missing large portions of the Scriptures. Sinaiticus has later revisions from their original authorship showing that the scribes of that era knew the Alexandrian Sinaiticus was corrupted. Early translations do not show a reliance on the Alexandrian texts. The early church used a text family that was more Byzantine and came from the original geographical locations of the texts where the apostles had their ministry. The textual theories of conflation for longer readings were promoted by Hort and Westcott, and then Metzger; but many Critical Text advocates have realized that the alleged examples of conflation are in some cases flawed and in others purely speculative. Even the famous Trinity passage is cited by early church writers showing its existence earlier than our oldest extant manuscripts. Jerome collected the best manuscripts of his time when he wrote the Vulgate and no one disputed his inclusion of the Trinity text. There are many other Scriptures which teach the Trinity. In the very beginning God said Let "us" make man in "our" image--and we are body, soul, and spirit. 3. If the Alexandrian Sinaiticus text is relegated to the trash where it was discarded, we now have large consensus with only minor scribal errors among the majority of the manuscripts. The early church record indicates that texts were being corrupted which is why they primarily used the Byzantine family. 4. Bart says the Quran does not have variants. But Bart does not mention that Uthman gathered and destroyed all textual variants in order to create a standardized Uthmanic text for the Quran. 5. Bart says the there are no textual families in the Torah, but the Masoretic text is a family of texts. 6. Bart says the Yahweh of the OT promoted genocide, but Bart does not mention that the Canaanite nations of that time used genocide indiscriminately while Yahweh limited the killing to those nations who resisted the Israelite possession of the land. Bart does not mention that the new covenant in the NT changes our covenant conduct. Bart does not mention that this is more of a problem for Judaism, because Judaism still considers the OT to be the current covenant. *These unsubstantiated presuppositions are sufficient to show that Bart is working towards a predetermined conclusion which lacks supporting evidence.
This was the most useless attempt to dissuade me from a position that I've EVER encountered, despite the overt bloviation. There is a serious lack of intellectual capacity contained in your post. Congratulations, you played yourself.

That's why we were told to establish the word of truth by 2 or 3 witnesses line upon line precept upon precept. Rightly divide the word of truth (from scripture bal lies Jer 8.8).
Well - a much too limited one dimensional approach - only to refer to time chronicity!!!! I am referring to the general approach of Mr. Tabor. The New Testament can only be understood reading it chronologically, simultaneously, in historic time and retrograde involving the Old Testament! The conclusions of Ehrman and Tabor are POOR! Though I find Mr. Tabor very sympathetic and down to earth, poised and humble!!! Thank you for your scientific honest efforts though! This mono approach is doomed to fail and partly misleading. The SUM OF THE PARTS NEVER EQUALS THE WHOLE!
It's all true what you say. We would assume God brought one relegion which centres mainly on monotheism and guidance from the prophets of the time to their people in their language. Distortions happened in between the prophets. Except for the last prophet where a promise of preservation was given by God. And this final word has brought to light what was hidden in the distortions of previous. God guides whom he wills though the truth is in plain sights in Islam. May God guide us in seeing.
Imagine what was burned in the Christian book burnings. They had to know this information and there was great uproar between the government priests and the regular people
"They didn't change the Torah ....." A-hem. They did. Compare the Leningrad Codex to the Septuagint and the Dead Sea Scrolls. I'm beginning to think Bart is an amateur.
Okay, forgive me for my hot take. But I haven't watched Myth Vision in a bit and just started watching again. I've got to say I don't really care for the background music. It's so distracting and I feel it cheapens the overall feel of the content. Is it just me?
I'm seriously praying people read the whole Bible & let God speak regardless of what's found & taught by others. Even though we can clearly see the changes, we end up realizing there is a God, we're gonna die, so what are we gonna to do until then? Learn from the losers in the Bible to follow the guiding of God. It's able to teach if we listen & allow us to see through the lies. It's a living book if after reading we're changed for the better ❤️
Hi Toni, you sound really sincere. Many who deconstruct, like myself, are familiar with the Bible and what it says is actually where the problems lie. It took me a long time to simply acknowledge that people write books. Anyway, hang in there, I wish you all the best.
@@cipherklosenuf9242 Thank you. I too am deconstructing since seeing I have Jewish blood. To see & hear the same hatred in Bible days still going on today, in the church worse yet, has me giving up that Jesus is God but that there is still God. I'm a better person because of the Bible either way. Shalom peace my friend 💖
Any book ever written that was conceived 100 to 300 years after the events actually occurred handwritten by 3rd and 4th parties has a 1,000 per cent chance of being altered, plagiarized, false , massive interpretive errors, gross misrepresentations, influenced by those whose personal beliefs and opinions become the new view of whatever they are pushing on everyone else... The disciples were illiterate, couldn't read or write! So who did???
@@cipherklosenuf9242 What are the problems? The issue is that people want to look at these scripts as if they are either entirely fantasy or a literal science book.. There is this absolutist view where something is either all true in the literal or all false.. That's not how anything works in this life. For God to intervene on a fine-grained level across all time and space would be to preclude humanity's free agency.
@@joemac84 Hi Joe …I think I understand your point that we need not consider the contents of the Bible as “all true” or “all false”. Yet, That does suggest that some of the content is true…and some is false…right? One may use empirical approaches to evaluate content in an ancient narrative in an effort to understand what may be true. Some things once considered to be true by ancient culture we know to be false…correct? And some things we aren’t sure to be true given no access to reliable evidence remain narratives that may be all …some…or not at all true…we don’t know. We have many narratives, and many interpretations over generations and many conclusions….right? And Some of the narratives in the Bible are horrible by our standards…right? So …I agree we need not say it’s all true or all false to arrive at the reasonable conclusion that the Bible is an ancient collection of culturally created literature …right? We have insufficient evidence to conclude otherwise about any ancient literature. People write books. What are your thoughts?
Funny, I know both of these guys are against the truth of Christianity, but as a faithful Catholic, Bart's lectures have greatly educated me and it's made my faith stronger. He says things like, "we don't have the originals", but then says authors changed the 'originals'? Well, how does he know that if we don't have the originals? We also all grew up with people telling us the bible stories weren't written until hundreds of years after Jesus' death, but clearly the gospels were established in the early 2nd century, just a few decades after Jesus' death, Ehrman admits it in this video at the 53:30 mark, Love it.
Being honest about what may be truly reliably known about the origins of what becomes the New Testament is not being against the truth of Christianity…right? Christian claims that don’t stand up to reasonable scrutiny can’t honestly be considered historical…though such claims may remain as traditional, philosophical or mythological. Should one deity be held to a lower standard of truth than any other?
He says "early second half of the second century," so you got that wrong. This is >100 years after the time period it was purported to be about, which is nothing like "a few decades." Find what you can about what people *remember* about the first decade of the 20th century, 1900-1910, and then see how distant this truly is. Two millenia ago this was five or six generations at least. If you have dozens of distinct versions of gospels with hundreds of differences and direct contradictions, the odds are (copies of) the originals are not among them. Even if they were, there's nothing distinguishing them from the bogus ones. Most likely there is something deeply problematic in *every* extant version, and *none of them* align with current editions.
@@LLCisyouandme Your arugument doesn't hold water at all. Many of the writings of Paul come from early 50's AD, so yeah, a few decades, not 100 years like you said. We can date them from the events they cite, since many things perished after the fall of Jerusalem in ad 70, and were lost. Manuscripts from John, who wrote later in the 1st century were copied in ad 125, so yeah, a few decades holds up.
@paulv3968 You claim Ehrnan "admits" something he does not. He's not talking about the actual gospels, he's not saying the first century in your reference. You have it entirely wrong. And he's talking about what *would be* the oldest extant version, but it does not survive. And if it did we have no firm basis as to what copies of the gospels it was based on. He's referring to its utility to cross check accuracy of *current* accounts, because all of them are more recent.
@@LLCisyouandme LLC, when Paul writes, he writes about very specific events that took place, those events are placed in history to the year 54 ad and possibly earlier....Bart's words not mine. These are not events that writers in the 2nd century would have known, as they're mostly just names of people that historians (secular) were able to place using modern archaeology to the mid 1st century. I'm not going to put the pieces together for you. My original statement stands, and nothing you've said has even put a chip in it. I've studied Ehrman, Hitchens, Dawkins, O'Connor, and many others, and the only theme that keeps coming up is that after the initial blow, these guys are mostly just angry (Hitchens), purposefully ignorant (Dawkins), surprisingly dumb in this area (Smith), or super wishy washy (O'Connor). And as far as Ehrman is concerned, he's just a guy grasping at straws as he admits everything was a copy of a copy of copy, or retranslated...so what, the story stands, it's stood for 2000 years and the Church is growing again. Best wishes.
But doesnt the petra/petros wordplay only work in greek? Jesus didnt speak greek, he spoke aramaic. If the wordplay doesnt work in aramaic then the entire conversation is nonsense.
As I listen carefully to these scholars, they never realize (or reject) or discuss the role of God in the writing, transmission and preservation of the texts. I did enjoy Tabor's discussion of the Dead Sea scrolls. I do enjoy listening to the historical and textual critics because they, here and there, give facts that enlighten the "mystery of the faith." I thank God (through faith in the work of the Holy Spirit and reverent scholars) that I am able to pick up my RSV, ESV or KJV and "know" I am reading reliable translations of ancient texts.
If god isn't real then by default you have nothing from god. This is what's realised by these scholars. The bible be it kjv or the others are not correct translations and we know the mistakes and added extras. The bible is wrong historically scientifically and morally.
@@studiodemichel The KJV includes several translation errors. There are several lists of them you can easily find online. Yes, most of them only affect details, but those errors hurt the reliability of the translation either way. I'd choose something like the NRSVUE over the KJV every single time if I wanted to read an accurate translation with footnotes.
No one has the original original manuscripts…. There are writings not included in the current Bible versions for whatever reasons. Can you/do you show exactly what was changed and when? Is there a book available rather than a course study? I have some of your books; you seem to be getting more “feisty” for lack of better terminology, in more recent times.
I like Dr. Ehrman for a number of reasons, but one thing I fault him for is too readily swallowing the received scholarly concensus regarding the dating of the gospels, when in fact we effectively have no mentions of any gospel prior to around 100-110 CE., and certainly no attestation of any attempt to collect any books now in our canonical NT prior to ca. 144 CE. This should at least raise the very legitimate question of possibly dating the gospels to when they first become attested, and stop presupposing that they must have been written shortly after 70 CE, simply because the traditional view of Christian history and the gospels has said this for nearly two thousand years.
John wrote his Gospels in very simple text, and it is not excellent Greek. What is difficult is the profound theology that he expressed simply. John wrote his epistles and Revelation much later. It is no uncommon for writing styles, even vocabulary, to change as a person ages. That does not mean John stopped being John. The First Counsel of Nicaea in 325 would not have accepted John's woks if they were not apostolic.,,,, Daniel Greer
Most biblical scholars, I think, believe that the author of the Gospel of John is not the same person as John of Patmos, the author of Revelation. There is evidence for both views, however.
Mauro Biglio, an expert translator of ancient Hebrew, has published extensively on the subject of the Bible. He was hired to do a literal translation of the oldest known version of the Bible. The Bibles that most people use have significant mistranslations, often deliberately introduced to fit the accepted narrative. There are also many texts that, as they are in the Bible, contradict the 'accepted' Christian story.
@TheMargarita1948 did I say that? Also, I know that he supports those of us unable to contribute all you have to do is ask. So no, I'm not even implying he work for free... so I suggest you stop with the accusations before you go gorilla on your keyboard, you outstanding warrior you. 👏
@zapkvr what did you read? Because the statement I made stands on it's own. If you need to have clarity on why I find the videos disappointing is because I find them to be little more than a promotion for something else and of little intrinsic value other than that. If that's difficult for you to comprehend from my previous statement then it's not me who needs to sit down, might I recommend some study in language comprehension or just a dummy you might prefer to spit out?

this video is an omnibus collection of pieces that (all or some?) appear in shorter mythvision videos. for example the first hour is "Your Bible Is Corrupted". don't get me wrong ... this is an enlightening listen and really appreciated. but when it comes to collating what i know and where i heard it, it's an unwieldy size to deal with. it would be great if you listed the YT posts where pieces of this appear in standalone form. i think for people who argue about these topics, it's useful to be able to say "this issue is discussed HERE", without referring to more material than relates to the immediate issue

Are you there for the likes or for truth?
Here's unadulterated truth:
1) Gen 1:27. "Let us make man according to our image and likeness and let them have authority....":
2) Gen 3: Mankind fell. The image and likeness of God in man got lost. That's the mess this world is in. Gen 3.
But...:
3) As Christ, God returns the divine life of the ages back to you-manity.

Mythvision has given me a community I feel more connection with than any church I attended in almost 60 years as a believer.
I don't like using the term even, but this time it is very fitting and important: even the world's leading anti-religion evolutionist, Richard Dawkins, admitted that Jesus Christ existed.
Additionally, The Bible, including the Old Testament, if proven true and accurate by history, archaeology and other sciences.
Moving on, this video, like all of their kinds (*), obviously omit the overwhelming evidence that Jesus existed in connection to other historical characters with less evidence but are accepted as factual. This video (*) also fail to relate the connection of those scientific findings between The Old Testament and the Christian Scriptures. Here are but a few credentials...
- Michael Grant, a historian and an expert on ancient classical civilization, noted: “If we apply to the New Testament, as we should, the same sort of criteria as we should apply to other ancient writings containing historical material, we can no more reject Jesus’ existence than we can reject the existence of a mass of pagan personages whose reality as historical figures is never questioned.”
- Rudolf Bultmann, a professor of New Testament studies, stated: “The doubt as to whether Jesus really existed is unfounded and not worth refutation. No sane person can doubt that Jesus stands as founder behind the historical movement whose first distinct stage is represented by the oldest Palestinian community [of Christians].”
- Will Durant, a historian, writer, and philosopher, wrote: “That a few simple men [the Gospel writers] should in one generation have invented so powerful and appealing a personality, so lofty an ethic and so inspiring a vision of human brotherhood, would be a miracle far more incredible than any recorded in the Gospels.”
- Albert Einstein, a German-born Jewish physicist, asserted: “I am a Jew, but I am enthralled by the luminous figure of the Nazarene.” When asked if he viewed Jesus as a historical person, he responded: “Unquestionably! No one can read the Gospels without feeling the actual presence of Jesus. His personality pulsates in every word. No myth is filled with such life.”
- Tacitus (c. 56-120 C.E., or Common Era). Tacitus is considered to be one of the greatest of the ancient Roman historians. His Annals deal with the Roman Empire from 14 C.E. to 68 C.E. (Jesus died in 33 C.E.) Tacitus wrote that when a great fire devastated Rome in 64 C.E., Emperor Nero was considered responsible. But Tacitus wrote that Nero accused the Christians in order to “scotch the rumour.” Then Tacitus said: “Christus, the founder of the name [Christian], had undergone the death penalty in the reign of Tiberius, by sentence of the procurator Pontius Pilatus.”-Annals, XV, 44.
- Suetonius (c. 69-a. 122 C.E.) In his Lives of the Caesars, this Roman historian recorded events during the reigns of the first 11 Roman emperors. The section on Claudius refers to turmoil among the Jews in Rome that was likely caused by disputes over Jesus. (Acts 18:2) Suetonius wrote: “Since the Jews constantly made disturbances at the instigation of Chrestus [Christus], he [Claudius] expelled them from Rome.” (The Deified Claudius, XXV, 4) Although wrongly accusing Jesus of creating disturbances, Suetonius did not doubt his existence.
- Pliny The Younger (c. 61-113 C.E.) This Roman author and administrator in Bithynia (modern Turkey) wrote to Roman Emperor Trajan about how to deal with the Christians in that province. Pliny said that he tried to force Christians to recant, executing any who refused to do so. He explained: “Those who . . . repeated after me an invocation to the [pagan] Gods, and offered adoration, with wine and frankincense, to your image . . . and who finally cursed Christ . . . , I thought it proper to discharge.”-Pliny-Letters, Book X, XCVI.
- Flavius Josephus (c. 37-100 C.E.). This Jewish priest and historian states that Annas, a Jewish high priest who continued to wield political influence, “convened the judges of the Sanhedrin [the Jewish high court] and brought before them a man named James, the brother of Jesus who was called the Christ.”-Jewish Antiquities, XX, 200.
- The Talmud.
The matter is, none of what speak now, will matter in the end, because those who refused to listen or, go against God, will likely not make it into the paradise Earth God has promised. The "former things" or, world/system, "will be forgotten." True Christians will live on for ever in happiness, all this chaos now happening "will not be called into mind." Your choice.````

the best way to not believe in the inerrancy and univocality of the bible is to actually read it!
What a way to get the wool pulled over your eyes. I much prefer to have my wool sheered so I can see better
Correcto!!!
@bfrediani typical, you care more about a capital letter than what I am saying. How ignorant
i've been watching lots of Bart Ehrman and James Tabor. What listeners like me really appreciate is getting to Truth no matter where it leads and not taking the New Testament at face value which so many people do.

Can you suggest any names of people that are currently up-to-date on “fact based research” ?

Misquoting Jesus was the final nail in the coffin of my deconstruction. I don't know why, and I can't really defend it, but I (stupidly? Naively?) just ASSUMED (since so many people over thousands of years!) based thier entire lives and ETERNITY on this book, that we had a good, reliable original. I was very disappoint. 😐
Where next?
I found Barts podcasts 5 years ago after trauma and almost dying I was a very Christian woman and I literally defended my faith to a Muslim who tried to destroy my soul but I prayed an prayed but I still ended up in ICU . Now I’m finding I accept they I can never feel the same which was naive but I had beautiful spiritual experiences which I can’t deny for out of this world , cognitive dissonance on steroids happened.
As someone with a deep understanding of the Etymology of Joshua and the history of the ANE it super bothered me too, for several reasons.

Love the podcast. Amazing work

Where, in the New Testament they said “He will not break a bruised reed” and “He will not quench a dimly-burning wick” which are mis-transliterations from Isaiah, now they have switched the syntax around again in the NT in versions I’ve seen so that the metaphorical subjects of the sentences are correct.
ie - although he is a dimly-burning wick, he will not quench
And although he is a bruised reed, he will not break
That is ‘the suffering servant’
It’s not that he won’t break a bruised reed rather he *is* a bruised reed.
People have been changing the texts as much as the first text had changed reality .
Prove it.
Thanks!

Because Mesopotamia is the cradle of civilization.
I continue to learn so much from this man.

I'm Christian and if you look at all into the subject you might have a change of mind.but that doesn't make Jesus fake just shows how belief of man and church are much like the farisee and sadusee of chist time. different verses of same books in different areas of Christianity. theology arguments put into scripures over areas of control from the many sides Greek Roman's had control first empire wise.then Roman catholic took control empirely and killed all that they could and they burned done and killed the city and killed the pope and the once that could ran to areas were they could survive in Russia area.then the protesters against the abuse of catholic power came along and got red of several books of the bible. anything new here? and along comes modern day and theologians of Christian denominations have much different scripures and books they quote from.saved by faith saved by babtism.saved by love just what book's you choose to lead your followers. but don't talk about prayer tought by Jesus in private and no speech and if you must Must say the lords prayer. but some say if you repeat then you are like some other group. if you don't understand what is being said and themeaning and listen of said saying would be so.but Jesus said them according to the author.paul fights on the side that says that the prayers of the sadusee and farasees have no effect on the food. but sum will quote one sentence that says all food is clean but the whole thing was about prayer and food so taken in context that they were eating wheat considered clean but needing prayer is that sentence to be taken as it is.translated from the Greek with many different versions to be found from the whole area from different times.not until printing press could you lock down even what was in stated book. but the books were written to the people of that time and what would they understand from their history and language
is a rat food and is clean without prayer and you will poo out the bad.would you consider that food and what did they consider food

@5:20, when professor Ehrman says, "the doctrine of the trinity",in relation to "1 John 5:7", he is misrepresenting the verse. The correct representation of this verse is "the witness from heaven".
1 John 5:7,9
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
[God is in heaven: the witness is given by him.]
[9] If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
● Now, professor Ehrman does not only get how he represents the verse wrong, he also gets the number of times that the content of the verse is stated in the new testament.
[He has sought to create some hedges around himself by using the phrase "explicit statement". However, it is not just the the exact wording of the verse that matters: it is the understanding of what is conveyed by the wording of this verse.]
The verse says, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit are one.
(Replacing "word" with Jesus)
The Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one.
● Here what is stated in "1John is condensed in John 10:30.
John 10:30
I and my Father are one
● A proper reading of the books of the gospels reveals that:
● Matthew 3:16,17, tell us what "1 John 5:7", tells us.
Matthew 3:16-17
And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
[17] And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
● Mark 1:9,10,11 , tell us what "1 John 5:7" tells us.
Mark 1:9-11
And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
[10] And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
[11] And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
● Luke 3:21,22 , tell us what "1 John 5:7" tells us.
Luke 3:21-22
Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
[22] And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
● John 1:32,33 , tell us what "1 John 5:7" tells us.
John 1:32-33
And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
[33] And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
Note:
[The Spirit can only "descend" upon someone "bodily" and "remain" on them if they and the Spirit are one.]
●● Here is shown four different witnesses that give the same witness, as "1 John 5:7" , which is; the Father, the Word/Jesus, and the Holy Spirit/Ghost are one.

It tells us of his research into Joshua Ben Pentara/Josep - known to us as Jesus Christ. The early Christian church hated it so much that after the Council of Nicea, they tried to destroy all copies.

The baptismal formula of Matthew 28:19, as it presently stands is in direct contradiction with all of the following passages:
[Acts 2:38 NASB] “Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
[Acts 8:12 NASB] “But when they believed Philip preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized, men and women alike.”
[Acts 10:48 NASB] “And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.”
[Romans 6:3 NASB] “Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?”
[1 Corinthians 1:13 NASB] “Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?”
[Galatians 3:27 NASB] “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”
According to the Church historian Eusebius, the original Matthew 28:19 quotes Christ, saying, “Go and make disciples of all nations in My name.” This would conform with baptizing in Christ’s name only by the disciples as commanded by Christ.

The words on in Mark are altered from how they are shown written on in the book of Matthew

The book of Matthew doesn't mention Jesus looking around constantly as it is written on in the book of Mark
Imagine what was burned in the Christian book burnings. They had to know this information and there was great uproar between the government priests and the regular people
1:56:00 Dr. Tabor summons fireworks?! 🎆
Any book ever written that was conceived 100 to 300 years after the events actually occurred handwritten by 3rd and 4th parties has a 1,000 per cent chance of being altered,
plagiarized, false , massive interpretive errors, gross misrepresentations, influenced by those whose personal beliefs and opinions become the new view of whatever they are pushing on everyone else...
And some things we aren’t sure to be true given no access to reliable evidence
remain narratives that may be all …some…or not at all true…we don’t know.
We have many narratives, and many interpretations over generations and many conclusions….right?
And Some of the narratives in the Bible are horrible by our standards…right?
So …I agree we need not say it’s all true or all false
to arrive at the reasonable conclusion that the Bible
is an ancient collection of culturally created literature …right?
Wait…something that didn’t exist before it existed was CREATED? What a world!
You think KJV is a "reliable" translation? Really?
@@ThatShikushi Don't you? If that's all I had, I'd have all the crucial teachings needed. Who cares about the "jots and tittles?"
@@ThatShikushi I read RSV and ESV, myself. But, neither of those contradict or improve the "the Good News."
Most were changed before our first available copy from 4th century. It would be impossible to pinpoint when and who exactly changed them.
Nothing really changed, just added nuances. The big picture and doctrine still the same as always.❤❤🙏👌
i used to have one of the original manuscripts mixed in with my stamp collection, id let the neighbor kids see it for a nickel
Nothing changed, perhaps only your brain becauyz of too much drugs..lol
You must absolutely go to a headshrink to attest your historical attestation.
They were written way earlier

The bible has not made people love and treat people, All people with love and kindness!!! So what is it Really for???
