There is a book called "Moses in Ancient Egypt, the Hidden Story of the Bible," That equates him with Prince Ramose, and Hebrew history about a military commander that marries the Princess of Nubia. Indeed, my Research links Adam with the Egyptian God Geb, the Canaanite El, and that makes Cain and Seth the same person, and their two bloodlines are also the same. Thanks for showing me additional evidence they are the cult of Set. As RA mose, an aspect of Moses is the Prince of RA. Moses has a new song to sing, apparently.
There's a great book I'd recommend called Between Jerusalem and Benares edited by Hananya Goodman, that goes into the link between Hinduism and Judaism. Many of the Vedic stories mirror the Old Testament stories, and it is believed that the Brahmans (chosen caste) created Judaism. In fact, the story of Abraham and Sarah came from the story of Brahma and Saraswati. Voltaire echoed this claim in Ezourvedam in 1760 stating that not only were Brahma and Abraham the same, but that all religions originally came out of India, the cradle of civilization. But it was really Megasthenes who clued us into who the Jews really were and where they originally came from. Megasthenes, an Ionian from Asia Minor, and contemporary of Seleucus Nicator, was charged with several embassies to India, where he spent a number of years between 302 and 288 BCE. His book Indica was one of the chief sources of knowledge about India in the Hellenistic era. He was the first to write about the connection between Judaism and Indian philosophers calling them Calanoi or Ioudaioi in Syria. Aristotle also spoke about them saying that the "Jews are descended (apogonoi) from the Indian philosophers." And Flavius Josephus quotes a passage from Clearchus' Dialogue on Dreams, which recounts what Aristotle said. And if you can get your hands on a copy of Arumuga Navalar's booklet, The Abolition of the Abuse of Saivism (1868), you'll see how similar these religions really are. Navalar wrote the booklet as a response to the abuses that were imposed on the Indian people by missionaries during the time of Great Britain's brutal colonization. To refute these attacks and abuses, Navalar used his extensive knowledge of the books that compose the Old Testament to show how similar the stories were to his own religion of Saivism (worship of Shiva). And it worked. Many people in the west have no idea what Hinduism is about. It is a closed off religion, much like Judaism. And like Judaism, Hinduism has stood the test of time.
it's weird, just like there are ZERO historical mentions of Bilbo Baggins before 1937 even though middle earth existed thousands of years ago. Not a single damn mention....

Yeah, xtian apologia still dominates, though probably not for long. The remedy chosen was the usual.

It kinda does make perfect sense that if a group of Jewish scholars had become fascinated with Greek stories and something like The Odyssey, they might want to try and wrote their own version of "a story from our history." And Moses' story certainly does carry with it a hefty atmosphere of being a Greek tragedy.

The beginning of the story tho is very much Mesopotamian in origin. The whole thing about a baby being sent down a river in a reed basket to be adopted to nobles/royals is straight from the legend of Sargon the Great - founder of the Akkadian empire. Given the Akkadian empire once stretched all the way to Canaan it should surprise no one that these legends persisted over the centuries and were retconned for local geography and culture.
These videos are so good, because they help to remind us, again and again, that the Bible did not come to us in a full-blown unit. That over the centuries there have been many many different manuscripts, legends, and stories, and random pieces of them found, that eventually someone rummaged through and decided ( for reasons of his own) to staple some of them together into a unit, to "create" a history and a hope, for a certain group of people.

This was extremely thought-provoking and very well done. I especially appreciated that you put much of this presentation into text on the screen bc that gave me the chance to either pause and read it or take a screenshot of it and paste it into a powerpoint so i can further process and reread it. I also liked Weinfeld's comments that much of Biblical literature has parallels with the ANE but that the national origin stories really don't begin until the Hellenistic period which lends additional weight to believing that the Pentateuch may have been much later than we thought. Good stuff. Consider my mind BLOWN.
There is one important trace in the Pentateuch in favour of the Exodus story having a grain of real history in it. It's the prevalence of Egyptian names in the story of Exodus. Aaron, Moses, Merari, Miriam… and more, they're all Egyptian names. So Exodus is a story of "Egyptianized Canaanites" returning to Canaan after centuries of absence. The closest we find in Egyptian historiography is the expulsion of the Hyksos by Ahmose I around 1550 BCE.
@@gwynedd1 Not really, it goes deeper than that. People tend to use the names of their culture and language. The Egyptian names being used in the Hebrew Bible strongly indicates a deep Egyptian link. After all, Moses is called Moses not...some random name that was actually Hebrew. I can't remember the Pharaoh, there was/is a Great Courses course (lol) on Egypt that is free on Audible (at least is was free a few months ago when i listened to it). There is some evidence (according to the actual professor of Egyptology who did the course) that the Pharoah at the time the Hyksos/proto israelites left Egypt did indeed lose his Firstborn Son. So there is that little connecting nugget also. Bear in mind that Egypt were not the good guys. They were raiders and asskickers. They had been the big boys on the block for millenia. Given the antagonism between Egypt and Canaan/Israel etc, why would they choose to use Egyptian naming conventions? There are not many young Adolfs around outside of Germany these days are there? Unless of course the Egyptian language was deeply embedded in their own culture, for some reason.....

I think it's safe to say that a base 12 counting system was standard in ancient days. For the reason we still use the dozen. Base 12 is the most intuitive system. Bankers used it te quickly and accurately estimate, before computers, while you were counting on your fingers. Fundamental terms seem to be lifted straight out of Egypt. This seems to come more from understanding (of language) than from (distant) memory. I'm pretty convinced that Moses refers to the name of the pharaoh's name, as many aspects of that royal court seem to be projected. That's difficult to equate with very late dates.
Sexagesimal, also known as base 60, is a numeral system with sixty as its base. It originated with the ancient Sumerians in the 3rd millennium BC, was passed down to the ancient Babylonians, and is still used-in a modified form-for measuring time, angles, and geographic coordinates. The number 60, a superior highly composite number, has twelve divisors, namely 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, and 60, of which 2, 3, and 5 are prime numbers.

I really thank you and Neal for blowing the lid of all this. The divine is within us. i’ve been doing some cursory reading recently on this. My conclusion to the documentary is “eh, don’t buy it.” i’ve become convinced that: 1. manetho’s description of amenophis and osarseph is a garbled understanding of merneptah, seti ll, and amenmesse. 2. Moses didn’t originally mean “drawn from water,” but “son of,” which follows Papyrus Salt 124 (around 1176 BCE) in ascribing the name Msy (Moses) to amenmesse. 3. The royal name of tausret was sitre meryamun. As with amenmesse, if you drop amun from “meryamun” (beloved of amun) you are left with Miriam (beloved). 4. setnakhte’s year 2 elephantine stela uses the exact language manetho used in his description of the expelling of “hyksos” (an anachronistic term to describe canaanites in general). Also, one could easily imagine the “irsu” allied with tausret being the same person as amenmesse (to my knowledge we have no indication that amenmesse was killed by seti ll). 5. The greek translation of Exodus was working from a hebrew original established centuries prior. Taken altogether, the Exodus tradition was an early Iron Age reflection on the fall of the bronze age that was textually reappropriated to the context of jeroboam l, rehoboam, and shoshenq l and subsequently redacted up until its greek translation.

And why did Aaron not get put into a basket of rushes and sent down the river guarded by Miriam? The Egyptians just allowed him to have a normal childhood?
It was portrayed as if he & Miriam were Moses' biological younger siblings & the Egyptians just randomly chose to kill all the male babies, once, just to stick it to the slaves, so Aaron would have been born after this.

king arthur was created by a book writer and story teller in the 1100s, moses is a story dating back 4000 years told by religious leaders. Comparing the two shows the foolishness and emotional attachment you have to denying religion and casting as much shade on it as you can. Try being more objective if you want people to care what you have to say.
@@GiIgasmash The story of Moses was invented and written by scribes during the Babylonian captivity in the 6th century BCE. It might have drawn on the oral traditions passed (and distorted) over the Millennium that separated the claimed events and the writers. In this respect it's no different from the story of King Arthur.
I think that the term shepherd may have been sometimes referring to astrology/religion, rather than herding sheep. Followers of religious thought and worship symbolized by Aries might have been deemed shepherds. In contrast, those whose theology was linked to Taurus or Pisces might have been identified as cowherds or fisherman respectively. In astronomical terms, Jesus was born at a time of the declension of the constellation Aries and the rise of the constellation Pisces and thus was both the good shepherd and a fisher of men. The Christian symbol of the fish might have been a shorthand for illiterate believers that the religion represented a new way of religious thought for a new age. It is easy to forget that the movement of the stars in the sky was one thought to be intimately linked to events on earth and that people absolutely believed that the stars could control their fates.
With less than 1% of ancient documents surviving. It is not surprising nothing extra-biblical relating to a minor people of a minor nation’s history mention anything of an individual from pre-collapse, roughly 1177 BC.
Another story I came across once was that in ancient Egypt the Ram was considered as a sacred animal and they clashed with the Jews who were sacrificing Rams at the time. This made me think that it could be a reason why Egyptians hated the Sheep herders? Could it be connected?
The number 12 idea comes from the zodiac which has been intertwined with ancient mythology. Within the Hyksos there were people that went by the name "Shasu", these in turn were made of other groups, one of them were the Midianites. The Midianites were said to have come from the land of YHW. Believed to be the followers of the Abraham god. So, it is very possible that this story is true.
Good point. The bible is full of astrology. The Old Testament is about the Age of Aries, which is why we have so many references to rams, lambs, sheep and the blowing of the shofar.
Rather, the zodiac comes from the number 12, the number of months in a year. Obsession with 12 does not imply any astrology. You need actual evidence for the latter, wholly lacking in Judaism.
Thank you, finally someone shed some light on that subject, let me add another shocker to your debate, if Moses existed, he never set foot in the lanfs of the nile valley, and the people who ruled Egypt were called kings, never pharaohs, the story is likely to have happened in Yemen, there was a king called Pharow, and he punished a people.
It's weird and off putting that such a bloodthirsty, dyssocial and genocidal mythical character as Moses is seen as a huge hero in 3 major religions. Numbers 31: 13-21 is kind of a horror story, where Moses orders the killing of even captive women and their male infants - and letting the soldiers take the young girls "for themselves" after having killed the rest of their families - while irrationally blaming their people for a plague. And there is also Exodus 32: 27-29 where Moses commands the Levites among his people to kill their own close family members and neighbours because of religious differences. According to the story he wanted them dead because they believed in and worshipped another God (aka the golden calf), and thus made Moses and his fellow believers and followers "a laughing stock to their enemies''. And after the massacre Moses praised them and said they are blessed for having killed their own brothers and sons
It is weird. When you read the bible with a fresh pair of eyes and see how barbaric it is, especially the Old Testament, it's hard to believe that people still think it is true. The golden calf you mention, is supposed to do with the Age of Taurus. Moses didn't want his followers to worship their old gods or Elohim. He wanted them to focus on Yahweh only in the new Age of Aries. This is why there is so emphasis on rams, lambs, sheep and the blowing of the shofar.
Informative and thought-provoking. The pace is a little fast to absorb and reflect on the data offered, but this video serves as a good jumping off point for surther study. Thank you!

I suppose it’s a relief knowing that the genocidal barbarism inflicted on the original inhabitants of Judea on the authority of Moses and Joshua never actually happened.
I've often wondered about a similar Greek myth about Perseus: As an infant, he was cast into the sea in a chest (not a basket in a river but similar) with his mother by Acrisius because the old dude thought the baby would grow up and kill him. It isn't the same story, but a similar story with many similar elements that would have been well-known as a typical Greek story.

Schizophrenia is a serious mental health condition that affects how people think, feel and behave. It may result in a mix of hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking and behavior. Hallucinations involve seeing things or hearing voices that aren't observed by others. Delusions involve firm beliefs about things that are not true. People with schizophrenia can seem to lose touch with reality, which can make daily living very hard.
It proves that they knew about Egypt. That's it.
Or the expulsion of the remains of the Aten priesthood and other malcontents to settle a buffer state in the Levant.
@@gwynedd1 If so why the writers slapped Egyptian names on what they claimed were Hebrews?
@@gwynedd1 Not really, it goes deeper than that. People tend to use the names of their culture and language. The Egyptian names being used in the Hebrew Bible strongly indicates a deep Egyptian link. After all, Moses is called Moses not...some random name that was actually Hebrew. Unless of course Moses, Aaron etc were Egyptian names so embedded in the Hebrew culture of the time they didnt even consider them foreign.
Actually, the Harris Papyrus hints at the proto-Moses story. A rebel called Su united the outcast in PI-Ramses and used mercenaries from Canaan to fight Pharaoh. He paid them by looting Temples. (Melting of the golden calf). But he lost and had to flee north with all his followers.
My guess is that a small tribe of pastoral goat/sheep herders took some ideas and laws from Ramses, renamed Moses through linguistic drift.
My guess is they decided to steal the Greek religion and philosophy throwing in elements of their own as cover.

Often wondered if 12 was based on the giant's 6 fingers on each hand. The original inhabitants.
Base 12 is the most easily divisible, by 2 , 3 ,4, and 12. A very logical base.whereas base 10 is only divisible by 2, 5, and 10.
I'm happily surprised. This is the best documentary from Derek I've heard. Keep this style up. Words were pronounced correctly. Voice modulation was on point. Well done.

I really thank you and Neal for blowing the lid of all this. Indeed I am a believer and believe that Yeshua "happened" to be born under Jewish influence and also that his teaching was a universal message to all, delivered within and to his own culture, as we all are born into a culture. At that point every culture that heard of him or his followers began to include him in their lineage....from philosophers, to Jews, to sex cults. Yeshua imo was the pinnacle not of "just" the Jewish faith but of all the worlds faiths. A teacher at the least, a divine composite being in spirit as well with a message to us all. The divine is within us. You and Neal are responsible for letting the world know, there is more truth to Christianity and all faiths than the Bible and more truth for Christians than the mainstream line. Mystics have known this for thousands and imo Christ came to teach it, to free humanity with a message so powerful, governments and hierarchies and even followers, scurried to capitalize on it. Peace. Funny thing is...You and Neal by revealing and adhering to the truth...are more Christian than some "Christians" and would be in company perhaps in the circle of truth that Yeshua led. Amazing scholarship! keep it up!

Josephus wrote stuff about Moses that isn't in the Bible, he spoke about a military campaign Moses led south of Egypt and that a statue was erected after his victory, some years ago the base of a statue was found by archaeologists in that same place, which is interesting. Josephus said that he got his information in Antiques from texts that he was allowed to take from the Temples library after the conquest of Jerusalem.
Flavius Josephus also wrote about how the Jews were descendants of Indian philosophers. Specifically, from the Brahman caste (chosen caste).

@@misslayer999 Awesome! There's a great book I'd recommend called Between Jerusalem and Benares edited by Hananya Goodman, that goes into the link between Hinduism and Judaism. Many of the Vedic stories mirror the Old Testament stories, and as I mentioned, it is believed that the Brahmans (chosen caste) created Judaism.
@@misslayer999 I tried to leave a comment, but YT keeps deleting it. So, I'll shorten my response, and hope it sticks! Megasthenes was the first to write about the Indian/Jewish connection around 300 B.C., Aristotle also wrote about it, and Flavius Josephus quoted Aristotle on the matter. Even Voltaire wrote about in 1760, stating that the biblical Abraham and Sarah were actually Brahma and Saraswati. There are some books on the topic, like Between Jerusalem and Benares edited by Hananya Goodman, or Proof of Vedic Culture's Global Existence by Stephen Knapp.
i’ve been doing some cursory reading recently on this. My conclusion to the documentary is “eh, don’t buy it.” i’ve become convinced that:
1. manetho’s description of amenophis and osarseph is a garbled understanding of merneptah, seti ll, and amenmesse.

If Aaron is the brother of Moses...from which family did he come? Was he from Mose's biological family? If so, how did Moses and Aaron reunite? Or was Aaron from the family of the pharaoh? If so, why would Aaron have any allegiance to the Hebrew God and why would he go against his family? Or was their brotherhood a novel union from their religious covenant with YHWH?
And why did Aaron not get put into a basket of rushes and sent down the river guarded by Miriam? The Egyptians just allowed him to have a normal childhood?
It was portrayed as if he & Miriam were Moses' biological younger siblings & the Egyptians just randomly chose to kill all the male babies, once, just to stick it to the slaves, so Aaron would have been born after this.
Read somewhere that the people loved Miriam most of all. Moses didn't like that.

They used the pads on their fingers to count and it ads up to 12.

Rather, the zodiac comes from the number 12, the number of months in a year. Obsession with 12 does not imply any astrology. You need actual evidence for the latter, wholly lacking in Judaism.
Proove it.
Holy Moses!
Informative and thought-provoking. The pace is a little fast to absorb and reflect on the data offered, but this video serves as a good jumping off point for surther study. Thank you!
