The whole wife needing to hide packages thing is so tired, and you're right totally has darker undertones. We keep our finances separate in my house because money was a major factor in the destruction of my husband's parents marriage. Even so, we still talk about big purchases and it doesn't get hidden.

As an atheist, I have to say I would have preferred Craig’s perspective and sermon style as a Christian. Also, I appreciate your perspective on Brittany as a Christian yourself. I see a lot of non-religious people like myself covering Brittany and other religious scammers or toxic influencers and this is a refreshing take. ✨

I'm an Orthodox Christian, so written prayers are our standard--which I appreciate a lot! It's a comfort when you're so weary that you don't know WHAT to pray. So having a written down prayer isn't that odd to me, but what seems weird about her prayer tiktoks is that the focus is so clearly not on the prayer, and it's not really about sharing the framework of a prayer...it's really about "look at my face and my makeup and my cute outfit and my house." Or that's how it comes across to me, at any rate.

    • @SirThinks2Much

I agree. I find praying aloud off-the-cuff to be a bit stressful because I need time to process what I want to say. BDawn could have easily done as B. suggested, leading a prayer directed to the viewer and still use a script to keep her words straight, without it being "look how cute I am while praying".

@@SirThinks2Much Absolutely agree. Like, why not read a written prayer, and have the text scrolling over a picture of a pretty tree, or even a steaming cup of coffee, or whatever? Our focus is supposed to be on God when we pray--not on other people.

    • @kimberlybega8271

Yes, I think she could have done a lovely written prayer and made text art where the focus was not on her. I grew up Protestant so scripted prayers used to feel weird to me but it feels a little less weird now that I am Episcopalian. And I always used to avoid being asked to pray out loud as much as possible because I don't put all the flowery things in so I didn't think it "sounded good."

She is on her journey, folks, she's a very new baby christian. The Lord is slowly changing her and workong on her, we all should pray for her not condemn her. That said, I agree with you guys on her obsession with aesthetic, but as i said, watch and see her grow over time. She's not even blonde anymore.

It grinds my gears that she mainly uses 90% of her audio from POC, given jdip's history. I feel like it's the same tone as "oh I'm not racist, I've got one black friend"
Also, 1 woman talking about bad you isn't the same as several thousand complaining about how you scammed them. You can't "pray away" a lawsuit for not taking accountability for your actions while you're still living luxurious on dirty money.

100% agree about the hiding purchases from your husband. I’ve been in Facebook groups where women are literally asking for ideas of where/how to hide their purchases from their husbands so that they didn’t notice, and yikes. I think that’s super unhealthy behavior from anyone, but especially from people who claim to be spiritual role models.
Also, just want to give a slight defense of stay at home wives 😂 I used to be one, and it actually was really beneficial for both of us. During the week, my husband would work, and I would do all the home upkeep. I cleaned, did laundry, cooked and meal prepped, packed his lunches, decluttered, grocery shopped, did all the deep cleaning, etc., which meant that on evenings and weekends, me and my husband were completely free. We didn’t have to spend weekends organizing, doing home projects, catching up on laundry, etc., because that was all done during the week. It was glorious. 😂 Now we have a son and we share the labor much more evenly, and often have to do lots of catch-up in evenings and on weekends. But during my stay at home wife days, I actually did work quite hard, and it really freed up his days off to spend truly relaxing and having fun. If you’re privileged enough to be able to live on one income, it’s a pretty awesome way to do things 🙂

I agree. My first red flag I had with her was the conferences she has a few times a year. She charges hundreds of dollars to attend. That does not include the airfare and travel expenses. It basically covers admissions to her conference, and a “goody bag.” Jesus, His disciples, the apostles and members of the early church never charged people money to preach the Gospel to them.

I don’t ask him to, he just does it because he’s an adult and he lives here too.

Thank you for this, B. Speaking for myself, I started 2021 as a Christian; I finished it as non-religious. There are many things that led me to this change in my beliefs, but part of it is this profound rot within organized religion, where it seems so many people use it to justify being awful to each other. From using it as an excuse to discriminate, disenfranchise and control others to employing it as a grift (as Brittany Dawn does,) it's enough to turn a lot of people away from any concept of God or religion, myself included. I'm not prepared to dismiss the possibility entirely, but I'm also no longer inclined to take "leaps of faith."

I am so happy I found you during all of this. This "toxic christianity" like I call it made me question my entire upbringing at times. I had to be told and re-learn that that is not Christianity, that is not the standard. I even feel dumb sometimes for thinking that the extremism ( let's call it what it is at times) is the norm. It is so nice and uplifting to find people like you in this world that give me hope.

Although there are a lot of horrible Christian’s and horrible teachings… the whole basis of it is unstable if you look at the origins of Yahweh, learn about Mesopotamian myths etc. if you question the religion, question it because of the actual belief, not the believers. I have attended some couples counseling sessions with my previous partner and something she said was that unless one of you absolutely loves and gets joy out of doing X chore (loves doing laundry, washing baseboards etc) and identifies that to you like “I absolutely love and get so much joy out of doing laundry I want to always do laundry” then it should be a basic understanding that all chores and things that need to be done to make your ship sail (household run) are commonly shared by both persons. I personally love to cook and I’ve expressed that to my partner. He and I pick meals together and he’s my sous chef if I need him but, for the most part, I love when I get to cook and he sits at the bar and we chat. I’ve identified that to him as something that I personally love to do. Everything else, we share. You don’t get a gold star for doing basic tasks. I hate the stigma that this continues to project on household stereotypes.

But for some reason he hates putting up the clean dishes, so then that is my job. And he is definitely fine if I get to scooping the litter boxes before he does.

Me to my son this week: the number one thing I hear women complain about their husbands is that they don't know how to put their laundry in their basket. Also if they don't know how to manage their hygiene.
My son the next day: all laundry was in the basket.
Moms, expect more from your sons, and hold your husbands accountable. We aren't there when they get undressed. They can pick up after themselves.

Men claiming that they can't clean is absurd. Cleaning is a basic survival skill and anyone, who is relatively able-bodied can do it. It has to be one of the easiest skills to acquire, since everything can be googled and the physical part has low requirements. A healthy man has no excuse.

Mostly because I use it ad my "break" because my mental health won't let me leave the kids here with dad too go somewhere else for a break and cos I have ADHD and if I don't put things away I'll forget they exist. Hello B! So AWESOME to see a new video from you!
I totally agree- to be able to give valuable, appropriate advice, wisdom, A LOT of studying, mentorship, time, and experience are all REQUIRED. Period. Someone cannot just decide, “I’m going to do this now” (let’s say, on a Wednesday), and start on the following Thursday.
I would like to think most people would understand this/use common sense. But- too many people don’t. And following an unqualified person’s advice could result in a very bad outcome- which is sad.
Also, it seems like there are those who think they can just read Bible verses, and BOOM! - they’re qualified to give ‘godly’ advice. And there are those who are willing to follow anyone who reads Bible verses with apparent sincerity.
    Sorry I wrote an essay!

I worked at JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts a million years ago and I don’t think a day went by where a woman didn’t admit to me that she hid her purchases from her husband. Most would shove them in their trunks and would bring in a couple things at a time so he wouldn’t notice, but I remember a couple women who would wait until the items couldn’t be returned because it was more than 30 days after the purchase and then they’d bring the items into the home.

I know it wasn't the point on the prayer reel, but I HATE pre-written prayers. I understand that in very specific situations it's important to have certain things written so that they're remembered such as names, organizations, specific world events, etc. A script doesn't need to be used to talk to God, just like a script doesn't need to be used to speak to another person. Any time I've seen a pre-written prayer it has been to make the prayer seem more "impressive" through the use of specific references to verses and big words. They've always made me uncomfortable. They feel shallow and showy to me.

It’s interesting, after seeing how Craig Groschel defended Dave Ramsey as soon as allegations came against him by platforming him on his podcast and declaring him to be a man of good character, a red flag was raised. Then I saw how YouVersion platformed Ravi Zacharais for a good while after the truth came out about him. In addition, they still have Mark Driscoll on their app. It took me several months to get a response and they chalked it up to grace. I used to look up to Groschel until I saw how deeply he is in the “celebrity pastor scam” and the pastors’ boys club. In addition his stance on dating marriage are VERY unhealthy. I think he plays the game more under the table than many but still is rich and powerful from these systems

As a born again Christian, I just wanted to say a couple things about “Christian influencers” on this video. If you are someone who is new in your walk with Christ (or even seasoned), I would, again, look to Christian influencers with a grain of salt. Your relationship with Jesus does not reflect what these people say. Diving into the Bible, praying (even fasting if you’re wanting spiritual growth from the Lord), and just connecting with Jesus is 100% more important than listening to online people. I use to be a beauty content creator and once I became born again I immediately pushed that out of my life because it felt extremely vain (I have nothing against makeup though), that being said there was NO WAY I was going to transition my platform from makeup to being a “Christian influencer” because of stuff like this. I post about Jesus on my new Instagram but I don’t act like an influencer per say. I think if someone wants their followers to take them seriously about Jesus on social media, Jesus should be the ONLY thing you post about. I would not necessarily drag my life into my platform because you are taking the focus off Jesus and putting it on yourself. Which I suppose is ok if you don’t share a whole lot in depth about yourself…. Idk lol I just don’t understand being a Christian influencer. I do like the accounts where people strictly post what they’re reading in their bibles/Bible studying and Bible verse accounts but that’s about it. I don’t mind Brittany Dawn but I see what you see! Okay, God bless! 🤍

I hate that so much. It's like babysitting his own children- it's not helping out, it's just part of being a freaking adult. My entire childhood both of my parents worked full time and they divided up household chores between them (and us kids when we were old enough). They're baby boomers and were not hippies or anything and often didn't get along that well but it was always a matter of "How do we make sure X gets done? Divide and conquer." If you're married you're a team, it's not about one person protecting and the other person serving.

I grew up as Mormon and NOT ONE I REPEAT LITERALLY NOT ONE of the leaders have ANY religious training they’re all just people from the congregation who get assigned roles by leaders who are assigned by other leaders who themselves have no training up all the way to the “prophet” but I guess if you’re a “true prophet” you don’t need a spiritual leader or mentor I suppose… Also women can’t have leadership roles over any major decisions just other women and children. It’s EXTREMELY sexist and homophobic. So many people are traumatized by their views on women and the LGBT community. Not to mention sexua1 abuse of any kind. I was basically victim blamed by my bishop for being r@ped and for “hanging out with a bad crowd” however he was the first person to get my parents to get me into therapy because they’ve only listened to church leaders regarding my mental health until about 7 years ago, now my dad will listen to therapists but my mom… let’s not go there. Religion and narcissism are a terrifying mix. Let’s just leave it at that.
When I went to nondenominational Christian churches when I lived in California and the difference was night and day to have a preacher who actually KNEW the Bible inside and out, spent time on their sermons, had a such a genuineness about them. Not to say mormon bishops didn’t care, cuz a lot of did, but they slut shamed and victim blamed and had zero experience helping people with serious problems that should be addressed in therapy. I find they were usually good people just uneducated and preaching a religion I find to be very harmful for children and youth. At least it was very traumatic for me. When I was growing up in an all Mormon community, I felt like I didn’t ever fit in and 80%+ of my high school was Mormon and there was ZERO difference in church and state. Sorry I know I’m rambling but yeah. To sum things up, I think that having a trained pastor who has been through school or mentoring to become a pastor made a HUGE difference. I’ve only had one Sunday school teacher who was never trained who taught amazing lessons that were both relevant to everyday life and had Christian teaching elements, talked about Christ. He was a close friend to me and his daughter was my childhood bff. He passed away about two years ago and I used to talk to him at dialysis as often as I could and I miss him so much. He had been hiding an opiate addiction from the church for 25 years, and since I too am an opiate addict we discussed that a lot and he said he had no one else he could talk to about it. You’d be SHOCKED at the huge addiction problem in the Mormon church. Most are pill addicts, so it’s still “legal.” I was a heroin addict which to them is way worse even though there are medications legally prescribed much stronger than heroin! Also, in Sunday school he didn’t talk about modesty, sex before marriage, dating, preparing for marriage no porn for the boys, or ANY other bullshit along those lines which was a literal MIRACLE unlike every other church teacher I had. I swear they spent 90% of the time talking about those subjects, half the time regurgitating talks past leaders already said and 8% about the Book of Mormon, 1% about the Bible and the last 1% would be anything about Jesus. Unless it was Christmas or Easter. ALL of those topics really destroyed me because they didn’t imitate life and I just lead to victim blaming and shaming.
If you’re still reading this kudos to you. I’d love to find a modern nondenominational Christian church like the smaller ones I went to while living in CA. I miss going to those churches a lot. Unfortunately I don’t even know if they have them near where I live because there’s a Mormon church on every block. Can’t wait to move out to Provo the most conservative city in the US even to Park City, where Mormonism isn’t dominant at all. I’m working on my mental health so hopefully I can do that start skiing and snowboarding again then gtfo of Provo FOREVER.

I’ve cracked why her first video made me uncomfortable: Making the prayer video the way she did with a voiceover emphasizes that these are her thoughts that she is praying privately. The viewer feels as if they are observing her in a performance of a religious practice, rather than feeling included in the prayer. Framing the video this way keeps the focus on her. You get the feeling that you’re not watching a video of a prayer, you are watching a Video of Brittany Dawn Holding a Mug and Having Nicely-phrased Thoughts. It is hard not to see a video like this as Content.
It feels performative. Any validation on the video will boost her ego, even if the commenter intended to glorify God.

Britney Dawn doesn't know what a good person is supposed to be.
Please don't take this the wrong way I love your channel and you do a great job.
The word has to get out of what she's doing wrong.
With that said I can't even watch anything about her anymore. When I watch people,
I love struggling financially for no fault of their own & hard-working people who make an honest living, that is struggling.
Here's she's living the life of luxury off of scamming hard-working honest people with no conscience then calls herself a religious leader.
Because I believe in God & Jesus, I have to find a way to not have anger in my heart for her.
I would never want anything awful to happen to her but I want her to pay for what she did & is doing, through the law.
Even that makes me feel yucky inside.
Yet she must not feel anything, to do what she did & we all know what she is doing now. Even if everything is Legal, what she is doing right now, I think most of us know, is not morally right.
Then she calls herself a Religious leader. That is what makes me angry.
    I guess I feel a little bit better now that I vented.😉

She also touts not listening to secular music but uses it in her very bad tiktoks. Even though she didn't let the "I'm 100%that..." finish out for her video, she still used it. "If you want to get rich quick in the US, start a church". I'm fascinated by the sheer numbers of Patriarchal churches in America. Each claims to be "God's one true church", and all make big money. Craig Groeschel, with a few of his male buddies, started the Life Church" in a garage in 1996. He held a senior position in Guilport Energy Corporation and that company announced his resignation in 2019, after some questionable share sales by Craig. I'm saying this because I'm heartily tired of get rich quick churches popping up all over the new world. These churches have tax immunity and usually have the tithing system in place.
I feel you attacked another person's beliefs and delivery in this voideo, the very thing I've seen so many "born again" churches do. That's why they do not appeal to the masses. As a strong, educated woman, I could never submit to the patriarchal demands of Evangelical Churches. That's a recipe for SA and CA. Please don't use your platform to belittle the beliefs of others.

I personally don't care for the girl and I think she is fake, however, with that being said, I believe you are reaching here a bit. I see your viewpoint but I feel you have so much discourse for her that now everything she does bothers you.
    1. Many "influencers" use one piece of content and upload it to numerous sources. You personally don't like it, I think this also goes back to your dislike for her.
    2. The issue with the reel of prayer is that scripture tells us in Matthew 6:5-8 not to be like hypocrites standing in synagogues and street corners to be seen by man but go into your room and close the door to pray. Even Jesus went away to pray.
    3. The joke about new years resolution and the amazon guy coming are just that....jokes. Don't take life too seriously. No one who follows her is going to look at that and say I should hide packages. Sometimes jokes are just that...jokes.
    4. The husband cleaning and so forth....I agree with you, again this is just another way for her to try to act as if she has this picture-perfect marriage with a special husband. Marriage should be 50-50 even in a Christian marriage.....this does seem to almost say that if your man doesn't do these things then he is not a Godly man or a good man. The truth of the matter is, everyone is different and every marriage is different. Him cleaning or holding doors or whatever is just one type of marriage....they are still in the honeymoon stages right now anyway. She needs to stop glorifying her marriage as something like a perfect example, this just causes confusion and discord for a lot of young ladies thinking because their man doesn't do these things then maybe it isn't a God-ordained marriage or a bad marriage, causing them to stumble.

I'm also kinda weirded out by Craig Groeshel, because Jesus doesn't really have too much to do with Christianity anymore.
