She LITERALLY got rid of a DOG because his "energy" gave her too much anxiety- but they're going to care for troubled youth? That would be funny if it wasn't so terrifying.

Omg. I forgot this was also her. Every time she does something she somehow gets worse. And they're very much treating it like dog adoption, trying them out. What happens if they're not allowed to put the kid on socials? What if the child doesn't want to have their life broadcast? Or, heaven forbid (sarcasm) they don't want to go to church for 5 hours every week? I know so many people who went through the foster system and come out with traumatic experiences because people don't go into fostering for the right reasons.

As an adopted kid not all of us are "troubled youth" and this is offensive to assume about us. The troubles happen after being adopted and being exposed to shitty parents who act like they are hero's for adopting us..

In most states you only need no felony in the last 5 years (some it’s no felony ever) to make slightly above the poverty line and to have a bedroom. The amount of space each child needs is minuscule-we has a room that was like 10x8 and could have had 3 kids in that room in Illinois.
The requirements for a foster parent are SIGNIFICANTLY less than for a birth parent to have their chicken returned to them, this includes, mental health requirements, cleanliness and the requirements for taking kids to appointments AND foster parents get more help. Birth parents are left to figure it out for themselves and foster parents are given a stipend, free daycare, WIC even if you don’t financially qualify, and insurance. The majority of children in foster care are there because of poverty and those “perks” from foster care would actually make it possible for them to stay in their home.
I say all this as a former foster parent, a former caseworker and a parent who has adopted from foster care.

The constant “children in need” thing always gives me the ick because it feels like they would be the type of parents who exchange basic care for gratitude and affection. God knows I’ve struggled with that with my own dad, who afforded the bare minimum stipulated by a lawyer, and now that I’m an adult he just doesn’t understand how he can’t buy my love and respect.

To Brittany Dawn religion is a game named "Christian Aesthetic". To win the game she is trying to complete several quests which include, but are not limited to
    1) Modesty (includes judging people's clothing, appearance and behaviour + terrible terrible brown hair and extensions)
    2) Bible talk (you don't need to actually understand what you're saying, just memorize some random words and phrases)
    3) Godly gorgeous glowing pregnancy and motherhood thoroughly documented and flaunted on social media (100%) or 3.1.) Foster parent a child (depending on the cuteness 50-80%)

My biggest concern (as a person who has worked with children in the foster care system), is that if they do end up taking a child that they could cause that child more trauma. If they decide they aren't up for it or it's not what the expect and send the child away, that's going to mess up that child even more. I really hope they know what they're getting into and are able to provide the child with the care that the child needs

I agree with you! I am a preschool teacher and have worked with kids who are in foster care and have experienced trauma. It's very emotionally draining and rewarding to help children navigate their feelings and help them through their behaviors. Even though I have learned how to help children who have experienced trauma I know I don't have the emotional energy to foster. As a teacher I poor my heart into my kids. But I get to go home and recharge. Being a foster parent is a huge responsibility.

The timeline/announcement makes absolutely no sense. I live (born and raised) in Texas. My parents have been certified foster parents my entire life (I'm 39), and I have 3 brothers who are adopted. My husband and I have also looked into this for the future since fostering and adoption holds such a special place in our hearts. Anyway, in Texas, (private facilities included) a married couple has to be married for a minimum of THREE years before they are even considered for adoption, and the fostering requirements are not much different. The process for approval takes months, sometimes YEARS, for both scenarios. Announcing something like this, this way, as if it were already fact and they were actively in the process of becoming certified, is complete fabrication, not to mention arrogant and disrespectful to all of the couples and families out there who HAVE gone through the rigorous and difficult process with sincere and selfLESS intentions. It just simply does not work that way. I 100% agree with you B, this is was a strategic move to remain relevant, period.

We were foster parents in Flint Michigan for 4 years. It was the hardest thing ever. We had our own two children. They don’t tell you how hard it is. They never give you all the information on the children or even lie to get you to take placements. Now, I try to talk everyone out of it, or heavily educate them on the hardships. Man, they have no clue. Fostering is so hard. They will not be able to put themselves first. She is going to be knee deep in stress and trauma. Date night will probably be gone.
You can give the child the world and they may still hate you because you took them away from their family.

Oh my goodness. I've actually fostered kids for families I knew twice and it's so hard and so exhausting. It's an experience you can't possibly understand until you've been in it(as you know). If she can't handle a dog with a lot of energry, I pitty any kids that enter their home. I would do it again but it was easily one of the top 3 hardest things I've ever done. They seem to be seeing this in "this is going to be so fun and make us look so good" kind of way and they are in for a very rude awakening if this happens.

I am so concerned that a child may be placed into their care. Neither of these adults are responsible or trust worthy enough to care for someone else’s child in this way. This is what creates a generation of traumatized adults who trust no one.
PS: I feel for you and the random people showing up at your house unannounced 🥺 that would cause me so much anxiety!

    • @spa-peggymeatballs4861

It’s so selfish. You’d think you’d WANT to get your own shit in order (for the most part anyway) before bringing such a huge thing into your life. For the child’s sake. So you could focus your efforts on that one thing.

  • @milkbuns2543

Foster care and adoption aren’t ways to grow your family. They shouldn’t be a FIRST option, let alone a second. It’s not for you to become a mummy and save these babies, it’s for them to have a safe home until they’re ready to go back to their family.

I'm super confused as to why they felt the need to announce to their hundreds of thousands of followers that they will be starting this process? They haven't even been given a placement and they've set their future fosters to be under public scrutiny months, if not years before they even step foot into their home.

Does it not occur to her that if you share your life in public, you put yourself in a place open to comment by that public. So yeah, there’s a Reddit group about her. Can’t she understand that comes with the territory? Anyway, thank you B for covering this topic in such a thoughtful and eloquent way! 💕

So I know at least in Pennsylvania, if it became clear that reunification was no longer going to be a possibility, the caseworker would ask the current foster/kinship family if they would be willing to adopt the child since they already know each other and hopefully have a bond. I did have a classmate in graduate school who was planning to "foster to adopt" but I don't know if she was going through the state or through a private agency.

My church's youth pastor and his wife (who runs a daycare) have a lot of experience with fostering kids over the last 15-20 years. They adopted 8 kids (3 from one mom and 5 from another) from abusive backgrounds and fostered more. Not to mention a few teens with difficult homelives that lived with them for a while. To me, they're an incredible example of how to care for kids in a God-honoring way.

I don’t know that they have ever made me more angry than this. 😡
Also, I feel like she thinks that words have more power than they do, like when he says they haven’t been able to have kids and she made sure to say “yet” as if that was necessary for it to happen. Or that she “breaks the curse of the word fertility over her” or whatever… like chill girl, that’s not how life works. 🤦🏻‍♀️
ALSO, if you are trying to get pregnant then it isn’t the right time to be fostering to adopt… to each there own, but I’ve seen many people who weren’t trying and got pregnant anyway that were in the process of adoption and had to put it on hold because of the unexpected pregnancy

Oh no, no, no, no. This is ticking every box of the “fostering is not the right path for you” checklist. My only hope is that they are announcing this for social media content but will never actually follow though (although they will of course claim whatever reason they have for not going ahead is proof of the spiritual attacks they are subject too 🙄)
