I’m actually sick listening to Farryn say that, and the other women (or whoever is there) just sitting there letting her say it. Children going through SA are not experiencing what mature, consenting adults experience during sexual encounters. There is no feel good hormone happening for them. Personally I didn't even find it terribly traumatic, helped by the fact it wasn't a virgin, it was a stranger, I had been involved in conversations about sex, and assaults (I had/have no shame about it) and a degree of stubbornness and being on anti depressants at the time may have been a factor too. But there was no positive feelings associated.

I was assaulted as a child from 4 to 14 by a family member. There were no good feelings that were awakened through that. It's abuse and trauma, not a drug addiction.
There was trauma, shame, and fear created by those experiences. The "body keeps score" book educated me on the fact that those experiences I carry with me every day. Even after years of therapy. Those wounds run deep. Maybe they should read that and learn, the fact that a nurse didn't correct her about the trauma of SA makes it even worse.

I am an atheist who studies Evangelical Christianity from a psychosocial perspective and the Brittany Dawn brand of christian is getting on my last nerve.
Their egocentrism and lack of empathy for other people's experiences is getting so out of control that they are killing themselves. Their failure to maintain the boundaries of people who do not share their worldview is why they get so much slack from everyone else. Most people in my area (Ontario, Canada) are culturally Catholic. The Catholic Church has a lot of problems, but they don't tend to Evangelize and force their beliefs down everyone's throats.
Most wouldn't have a problem with Evangelical Christianity is they would stop pushing backwards, harmful, and frankly, inhumane rhetoric down our throats. I'm so sick of this and it is a major threat to democracy.
It’s not only their proselytizing, it’s when they’re advocating for and actually writing aspects of their religion into law… thats the main problem I have with the extremist/fundamentalist/evangelical types. That’s an issue that’s becoming worse in the US lately
As a fellow atheist I love this! I also find evangelical Christianity to be so fascinating.
The period advice to see if a doctor if something feels wrong is excellent. Women are conditioned to 'just deal' with severe period pain, and doctors will often overlook symptoms and write them of as 'just normal period pains'. My best friend struggled for 15+ years of awful, heavy, debilitating periods before she finally diagnosed with fibroids. I always told her that period symptoms shouldn't be more than minor inconvenience for a day or two vs. her being laid up in bed for days.
The key is the right Dr. Since I started at 10... I had Dr after Dr brush off my concerns. It took 16 yrs to find a Dr who would listen and help.
I 100% agree. I suffer from severe periods from 15/16 to 19 because I didn't know that what I was dealing with wasn't normal. My periods, on average, were 10 days long, had to change pads every 1 to 2 hours, and sometimes couldn't move because of how strong the pain was. I'm so glad my mother took me seriously and fought to get me a women's health appointment at 19 otherwise I would still be miserable.

Only a couple minutes in, and as someone who has worked with survivors of sex trafficking, I am livid because of that statement 🤦♀️
B I can clarify this for you - in the deeper fundie circles, there is a misconception that sex/orgasm creates an unbreakable bond between Person A and their sexual partner. There is also a limit on the number of times this bond can be formed (allegedly), which is why it's so important to save sex for marriage (again, not my words, this is just the cultural context you need for what I'm about to explain).
Based on this incorrect and fundamentally wrong and evil concept, christians will often try to claim that in cases of SA, this bond is formed and the victim can't do anything about it. So when Farryn said that, she's really saying, "once you've been through sex, consensual or not, you've now been chemically bonded to that person, just like a drug addict gets addicted to drugs."
Which is SO FUCKING heinous and wrong for a LOT of reasons, but there you go. That was her thought process.

Indeed! I was SA'd the first 16 yrs of my life and am still actively pursuing healing 50 years later. The thought of what I endured being pleasurable is both repugnant and completely false. All of it makes me physically ill. I didn't hide in a closet, underneath a pile of clothing, in the fetal position, barely breathing because I was enjoying it. For years, even after marriage, I slept wedged between the bed and the wall and it wasn't because I was wanting to be found by some sick, disgusting man.

weird random thing I thought of when you were commenting on Brittany's adoption wishes: There is a great episode of 48 hours called "What Happened to the Perfect Child". It documents the adoption of a Russian girl (I think) and how she had "behavioral issues" and her parents took her back to a Russian orphanage without telling her they were returning her and never coming back. 48 hours was able to reconnect with this girl (now a grown woman) and how negatively it affected her life after her adoptive parents returned her like a store-bought object. She also confirmed that they favored her adoptive brother and lied to professionals saying she was having sociopathic behavioral problems. I hate to say it, but I could totally see Brittany doing this after adopting a child, and they don't live up to her picture-perfect expectations. I think she would treat an adopted child like a new purse rather than a human being, and then if it didn't work out, she would lie about the child being the problem and not her. It's just my opinion and I could totally be wrong.
Wow… I can’t even gather my thoughts after that one… exposing a child to positive endorphins and she said that after being a “social justice girly” for child trafficking? That is one of the most demented and gross takes I’ve ever heard. It really just goes to show what a warped view of sex & SA they have if they think SA is enjoyable for the victim, especially while referencing an infant. I feel bad for them, honestly, that they’re living in a world where they believe things such as that to be true.

Can someone help me understand why Brittany acts like she's the authority on ANYTHING? Not only is she a narcissist to the core, but so much so that she feels entitled to share her 'knowledge' with the ignorants of the world...smdh...she triggers me on every level.
I do wish you would comment more about how if you’re a virgin, you are not going to know “how sexually active you want to be, your favorite positions, how often you want to have sex” - this conversation from her makes absolutely no sense and only works for someone who has a very active sex life before marriage. It’s inherently flawed.
Re: seeing a doctor about period issues- in addition to or instead of seeing your primary care doctor about these issues, enlist the help of an OBGYN if you can. I have had terrible PMS emotions since I was a teenager, and have been dismissed by many male doctors as it being a non-issue that all women deal with. Trust your intuition, you know your body best, and find care that works for your body. (Also see John Oliver’s segment on “Medical Bias”. Bryony Claire also has a great video on medical misogyny)

Regarding premarital sexual conversations, how would a person know what they want/like if they were truly following purity culture and haven't done anything sexual?
For 1. Nurses don’t know all, they know the specifics of the area they work in. Also, they are not free of their own biases.
For 2. None of these folks understand anything about mental health or the realities of sex.
All sex is not about getting off. Any non-consensual sex has to do with power by the offender. And those who experience sexual abuse and become hyper sexual, it’s not about physical pleasure it is about self-worth and feeling wanted. Also, many individuals who experience sexual abuse as a child grow up to rarely have sex and potentially have penetration disorders.
Also, I am convinced that Brittney’s husband who started working in anti-sex trafficking was working for Tim Ballard. No proof but of course he would work for someone problematic. Just a thought.

31:53 "Cadavar." I'm not a dental professional, but I've had dental surgeries and a gum graft. My dentist also told me that when they put new gum into your mouth for those surgeries, the gum comes from a "cadaver", which is a dead person. I was also slightly grossed out that it doesn't come from a live person. 😂 I find it funny that I have the opposite problem usually, where I grow more gum than normal, except for the one time I needed the gum graft. I'm sure there's reasons why the dental community does it. Maybe because it's not normal for gums to grow. Maybe because gum growth could be infected.

Heres the thing about CSA and pleasure: abusers will sometimes stimulate the child to orgasm in order to confuse the child, make the child think that the CSA is a mutually respectful and equal relationship, and to motivate the child to initaite sexual encounters. You might see the abusers weaponise this against the child if the CSA ever becomes public - they'll say the child enjoyed it, the child initiated encounters, and that it was mutually pleasurable. Its a thing that does legitimately happen and can genuinely lead to child victims of abuse thinking that their abuse was consensual and okay until they get old enough to recognise the harm it caused, but it doesnt make them sex addicts, and it certainly isn't the worst part of abuse. The abuse is still painful and traumatising, both physically and emotionally. The pleasure that SOME children SOMETIMES experience as a deliberate manipulation tactic by the abuser complicates recovery and adds layers of complexity to their trauma, but it is not THE harm that CSA does. The harm that CSA causes is entirely separate from pleasure and when that's introduced, if that was ever part of the abuse in the first place, and CSA is almost never sexually pleasurable without the abuser delibrately attempting to make it so. The level of misinformation and misunderstanding from Brittany's friends is infuriating, and seeing them then label themselves as "justice warriors" for the children they apparently don't even listen to is maddening.

I find it interesting how she answers some of these questions with "The Lord has not convicted me on this" implying that HER conviction barometer is the standard for right and wrong. The lord has not convicted her regarding botox therefore it's ok for everyone else, but he convicted her about sex toys, so that's a sin. I can just picture some young adult or teenager having questions and then seeing her videos like "well Brittany Dawn says ______ is ok because she hasn't been convicted." Honestly, I find everything about Christian influencers weird.

I could maybe see her point IF she had gone on to mention how some assault victims can in fact experience increased lubrication or even involuntary orgasm - which are PURELY PHYSIOLOGICAL RESPONSES AND NOT AT ALL INDICATIVE IT WAS IN ANY WAY PLEASURABLE. Some of these women have been open about the incredible amount of shame that that happened, they felt like their body betrayed them, which of course adds a whole new layer of trauma on top of everything else. Even now, after retirement he still attends educational events, is a board member, always learning. She hasn’t spent any time at all learning, other than reading the Bible. I’m fully supportive of reading the Bible but by no means does it give someone the right to educate or advise based off of that fact alone. It’s just like her fitness “season “, she has zero education in that as well. It’s always just been a grift and when it stops working she’ll move on to the next thing.

29:00 Legit adoption agencies have embargos against adopting out children to people like this, "Social Influencers." And many of them who do vet the people *really* closely, and look into their past. If they do end up adopting many of these agencies make the adopting parents sign an agreement that they won't publish photos/videos of the children.
This is the way to go. It’s awful that agencies even have to have policies and agreements like that but these kinds of people make them necessary 🤦🏻♀️
You hit the nail on the head about her and adoption. She would make a horrible mother and abandon the child when they no longer served her purpose. But no worries, she is a narcissist and so self centered she would never actually adopt.
Also, she has a speech impediment because of her too big, crooked veneers and pronounces words wonky a lot.

I have endo and my tubes were tied when I was 20. At 34 I asked for uterine ablation and my dr suggested trying the plug birth control that lasts 5 yrs. Literally best thing ever!! Cramps don’t exist in my life anymore and I use to die the first 2 days. Every couple months I spot but no longer 8 day longs with monthly bleed through

(It’s refreshing for my cynical, angry self.) 😂 This might sound dramatic, but I truly believe Brittany is a very dangerous person. What she says and, perhaps more significantly, what she allows others to say on her platform is inexcusably negligent. She has and will continue to cause harm to people as long as she has a platform to do so.

I totally agree with her being dangerous and negligent. She promotes harmful ideas and it almost seems like she doesn’t care what her guests/friends say. I don’t know if he agreed with Farryn’s statement or if she just glossed over it mentally but either way it’s an awful thing to allow on her platform without any sort of pushback.
