I have a 2011 Dodge nitro which is basically the same thing. I have looked through dozens of videos trying to see if someone would identify the door that goes from hot to cold you just did it thank you very much!
@@TerminalVelocityable Dear TerminalVasectomy , step one in troubleshooting would be to find out where the door is. How to tell if it's moving. And how far he has to turn. We learned those three things. Now the door isn't moving at all that's much more obvious because the heat wouldn't be changing but in some cases you would have a situation where you're getting some heat but not very much. A simple look at that door axle you can see it needs to turn 1/4 turn to go from full cold to full hot. If the fan is working in that door is on full hot, and you're still not getting full heat then you can start looking at other things like the heater core. Not sure why you have to be negative other than perhaps a crappy personality. Have a nice life.
Thanks for the video my transition valve from cold to heat was stuck in the cold position but i did not know where it was. Thanks to your video i found it an was able to free it up with a screw driver.
6:59 that axle is just for the cold door there is another axle somewhere at 5 o'clock which is the hot door. a single actuator at the opposite side is connected to gears controlling both axles simultaneously. thanks for the video thought, this was the one I watched before I dove deeper into the subject.
I don’t know if you read comments but I’m stuck, no ac or heat but they blow air I used a garden house to check and see if the heater core was clogged it was not. I’m not sure what the issue is.
Great video! Our AC/Heat is working and adjustable. I can hear the blend doors moving when I switch from dash to defrost. However nothing comes out of the dash vents and I hear a hissing noise from behind the dash. Do you know the location of the vacuum lines? Dash was pulled a few years ago for heater core.
@@jeffmcclenahan7914some of these jeeps don't have a cabin air filter. Mine doesn't. 08 jeep lib trail edition. I have little to no air coming out front vents.
Nice job going through the controls. It really helped me troubleshoot the issue with my 2012 Jeep Liberty. My air only comes out of the defroster. Using your guide, I can see that the actuator for the mode control is moving, but the gears on the passenger side aren't turning. It looks like there must something broken between the actuator and gears.
same issue in my 2012. gears and motor working on driver side under dash (by right knee) but the gears inside the white piece @3:56 do not spin. Is there apassenger side motor for that one? I know what the problem is bus don't know what to fix?? @@LILSINO13
my controls werent working the only place i was getting air was from the defrost no matter what position i set the dial to. I had a school bus mechanic look at it, and he took apart the gears under the Drivers side!!! and now he cant figure out how to put the gears back on and he says the gear sets are stripped!! can you post a picture of what this is supposed to look like under the drivers side.. also what is that box called with all the gears on it. because i think im gonna have to get it replaced along with the mode door which is what i think the original problem was..

My wife's 2011 Liberty has had limited air flow from vents for a long time, limited heat and limited AC, it feels hot and cold. The airflow seems like it never comes off low setting even though the blower is spinning faster by the sound of it.
@@alfenner3309 actually, realized the cabin air filter behind the glove box was super clogged. Remove the air filter and see if it helps, and replace it.
My daughters '11 is having heat issues, very little heat only on farthest right vent the rest is cold including defrosters. I ran thru what you showed and it seems to me that everything is operating as it should as far as actuators. I'm leaning towards bad heater core or broken blender box inside. I will first try a reverse flush on the heater core since I want to replace the coolant anyway. Any other suggestions on diagnosis? AC seems to work good on all vents, so I'm leaning towards broken blender door inside the hvac housing. Any suggestions appreciated.
When engine is up to operating temperature, Feel both heater core hoses located on passenger side coming from the fire wall (under the engine hood of coarse).. if both rubber hoses are hot then your heater core is NOT the issue.
OK...So I can see that the actuator is turning...and appears to be turning all the way, but it's clicking like it's sticking. And the air is not getting warm.
I have a question so my 2008 Jeep Liberty has low air flow except by the floor defrost vent on the passenger side. The air is strong only there. Do you know which component that is specifically?
So If you take apart the plastic gears on the driver's side under the stealing wheel that's most likely your problem I fixed mine but the gears keep coming out of place
Does it quit blowing? Or quit blowing cold air? If it quits blowing cold air but the speed of the fan hasn’t changed, sounds like you have low refrigerant charge.
What the heck, you might as well replace the AC vent filters while your there ... there'z 2 of them, and their behind that flat plastic piece hanging horizontally, below the honeycomb piece of plastic. Gotta luv Moparts.
Do you know if the drivers side actuators locations for the hot/cold and the control for defrost/front vents/dash? There are two a actuators on drivers side under the dash. One one top and the other is lower on the unit. I have the flapper not allowing air through the front vents. Thanks.
Really like all the detail in this video. Will definitely help me diagnose my heating issue! Thank you.

Where is the actuator for the hot and cold?? Mine is getting stuck
Will this work the same way for a 2012 Liberty jet?
would a bad actuator cause the AC to stop blowing cold air?

Ok so I have no floor air. When I put the dial to floor the airflow defaults to defrost. Do I need to access the blend door from the driver side?

If jeep liberty's have this many problems with the heat, they should have had a recall on them to be fixed!!
I wish they did

lower actuator is for Hot/cold only. The upper controls all the other movements of the blender box and vent direction from what I understand.
