I’ve seen your toolbox and roll cart tours and the countless huge jobs you’ve done, I refuse to believe you didn’t have the right 1/4 extension lmao
Gotta love that PT cruiser inspired interior.
Hamilton just felt a disturbance in the force... he will have a great deal on some long 1/4 drive extensions... lol
As others have already stated, thanks for not skipping any steps. I have watched 4 videos on this and they always skip something. Now I know where all the items are to be removed and how to do it. I knew it was simple enough but I could not quite figure it out myself. Beats paying a mech some absurd price for this simple ~$30 part repair.
Glad it helped
Thank you dude, probably took me 30 minutes, hardest part was removing the stupid air duct, everything else was smooth sailing, thanks
Thanks for this, I followed your advice and worked perfectly. As you said, it's worth taking all the other parts out to give you room to get you hand in. Only got a few scratches too!
All that juggling of lights, camera, ratchets, connectors, old parts, new parts, screws and bolts and not a single cuss word ! ! ! All in a single take ! WOW ! ! !
Hahaha 🤣
Did 2 of my woman's actuators a month ago on an 07 impala, good knowledge here thank you clay!
Thanks for making a complete video and showing all of the steps with clear narration! Tks again
You're very welcome!
Thank you for the detailed video and the durability test. Great job.
Great videos more videos like this please along with tool truck videos. Great job.
Good video on how to do it. I had to do my 12 JKU a few months ago
Thanks for another how to vid
Thank you for this! Solved my issue of no hot air coming out for my 2016 JK.
Awesome! Click that subscribe button! I’m trying to get to 100k !
Look forward to more Jeep vids. You & Hamilton gotta get out & wheel your Jeeps so you can break them & show us how to fix them.
Great how to
I tried pretty hard but couldn't get the duct out. Tried to even make a custom tool to pry it off a little, but didn't want to break it. It went in fine without taking it off amazingly...just never thought the pin would go into the slot properly that easy, but it did even doing it blind. I did put t tiny bit of silicone on the pin for lubrication. I also used a small scope and camera to look to check if the pin was in the proper place (bend it and go over the top of the duct and between the duct and the arm).
It's interesting the Dorman part directions say you have to electronically with OBD reset the damper door motors, but mine worked fine and sounds like everyone else's work fine.
good video. Wonder if it is the same on a patriot, dashes look very similar. Get a long 1/4 extension from the matco family.
Dude, thanks so much, you just saved me a trip to the dealer!
Glad we could help!
Man at least since 2000 jeep and blend door issues are hand in hand! I mean right new ones too!
Great video Clay love to see the how too videos🔧🔧🔧🔧
Good how to video Clay, keep them coming!!!!! Maybe you could video some shop work.
Eats up too much time doing repair videos. Usually takes 4x longer to do because if video.
Really great instructions now I just gotta find a guy to show this to😂😂😂 no way I’m attempting this one.
You can do it!
autozone said they were all on passenger side, which side is it for 2012 jeep compass?
my 2012 jeep compass has 3 blend door actuators, how do you install all 3?
So I test mines without plug in the module and it got a check engine do you think it fried the module
Did you havev to calibrate as the replacement actuator tells you to?
so I pulled the arm off the old one and put in the same spot at the new one but can't seem to get it click ito spot and keep the door up...does it matter where you put the arm????
Hi my fan control ac won't stop or chabge soeed any ideas the others work
what if its coming from passenger side? A slower knock?
What if there is no clicking sound when you move the climate controls. What then is the problem if your heater not blowing hot air?
Did all this and i got a check engine light after. How does that happen? Gonna have to take it to get the code.
Most Chrysler plug ins are dumby proof, can't mix them up
Why do the jeeps in all of these videos not have the same interior as mine? Does no one know how to do this for a 2014 wrangler unlimited?
My jeep compass dosent look the same as yours at all it doesn't have those vents. So where is my heater acutator blend door then please.?
mine pop form side to side
Replace the actuator and not long the blend door or dual doors will break.
thanks for the video !
can you explain what this hanging from the steering in 4:26,it was hanging infront of the air duct in the beginning but is clearly in the back of the duct when it was reinstalled as you can see in 15:58. I am asking because the same thing happened to me and I was wondering how important it is... If I should take everything apart again
Are you talking about the wiring harness?
No not the wiring.. the other large cord/wire in the middle .. connected to the steering wheel
@@KoonTrucking I am trying to add a screenshot with an arrow pointing out what I mean but youtube keeps deleting the comment.
So please look at 04:26, its the rubber cord in the middle.. not the wire harness
Mine is on the passenger side and used a 7 mm socket to get lose JK 20

Mines not clicking, my 2016 Wrangler just blows cold air. Is this the fox for that?
It’s the blend door. If your heater hoses are hot going thru firewall that’s the only thing switching it over.
My daughter just got her keep wrangler, 2016, we replaced the gas cap, thermostat and now it looks like the vent door actuator. What is up with these jeeps!!??
If you own a jeep you always work on something. That’s one of the reasons I was hesitant about buying one.
Done in 20 minutes. Easiest part to remove :air duct
Do you need to unplug the battery before any part of this?
Nope
THANK YOU! Does failure to misplace bad part cause any failure to headlights?
No
how hard was it to put the air vent back in?
Never got mine quite right. I don't think it's ever worked correctly since I bought it.
Just figured it's a jeep thing.
Not as hard as taking it out.
not hot to cold
WHAT????? You didn't have a longer 1/4 inch drive extension? 🙄 🤣 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
What if no heat on driver side but no clicking
Got to be something in the blend door. That’s the only thing keeping it from blowing
@@KoonTrucking it was blowing cold air . It was was the heater core . Flushed it now blowing heat in both sides
Where is the heater core in the Jeep compass north 2013
That is kinda of a Bear 🐻 to get to!!
Cool. Now do the passenger side in 20 minutes
My noise is on the passengers side?? The drivers side does not click.
Watch other videos on this. From my understanding , there are a total of three blend door actuators, one on driver side like this video and two on passenger side.
@@williamlee7782 had a mobile mechanic come over yesterday obviously he did not know what he was doing . Passenger side still clicks with both dials!

1. Must have tool: Harbor Freight, PITTSBURGH Ratcheting Right Angle Multi-Bit Screwdriver Set, 8 Piece $2.99
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable (under passenger seat for 20 mins.) to recalibrate the blend door actuator system.
3. Do NOT drop the screw. You'll never find it again
