Scarface Trailer - Directed by Howard Hawks and starring Paul Muni, Osgood Perkins, C. Henry Gordon, George Raft, Vince Barnett. Scarface is a brutal gangster film from 1932 from director Howard Hawks that depicts the fall of a Chicago gangster.
Universal - 1932
Honestly insane that we’re a little over a decade from this being 100 years old
Everyone in this movie, including writers, directors, extras, etc. are dead.
@@SynchronicitySequence what a fun fact 💀
@@vyshnavdudezzz7120 the last living cast member died in 2003 so not that long ago
7 years before the WW2 started .......wow
facts bro it’s crazy
It was during the Great Depression
@@handuce What's crazy about it?
Wow i never thought about it like that.
before?? ..after!!!
When is this movie coming out? can't wait
This movie came out in the early 1930s which is way before our time.
Bmendez378 I'm 1000% sure he was being sarcastic
Kappa Keepo I'm sure he is.
Sorry missed it by about 84 years
+Kappa Keepo You're having a laugh right? The movie came out in 1932 i don't think it's coming out anytime soon lol
Tony Camonte - From hitman to a gang boss
Tony Montana - From dishwasher to a cocaine kingpin
Great way of labelling it
I very confident that Tony Montana also starts as a hit man, when he kills the political prisoner for a green card
@@youvegotmailed I’m a big fan of the 1983 version
This trailer is actually pretty good for an old movie, but it gives away so much. Howard Hawks is the most brilliant overlooked director ever. IMO of course.
This trailer was made in 79 I believe. I guess they didn't feel the need to hide the storyline.
It's hard to imagine scarface without Al Pacino!
It is.. scarface its such a cool movie
Watch this 1930s Scarface you will be surprised.
No it's not.😊☺💯
This is what they said in the 80’s
Not really lol, At least not to me.
I first saw Scarface on a VHS tape before there was anything on DVD. I remember renting the tape from a local store and the owner said you'd love the movie with all the old cars. He was right about loving the movie, not for the old cars but Paul Muni. He was superb, should have gotten an Oscar but those gangster movies never got rewarded back then.
You saw it on VHS. Generations before you in the movie theaters, then people had it on DVD and today people are streaming it or watch it on Blue Ray _(available since 2020)._
Produced by Howard Hughes and starring Boris Karloff. The film remains the same classic. Just the devices and platforms are changing. The Blu Ray cover even looks just like the VHS cover!
Why did he say that?
Until the godfather came along and changed that even the godfather part 2 got nominated and they won it was finally proven to movies sometimes romance drama and comedy can win all the time they even beat out musical movies it was a saying who has time for all that other stuff when you can enjoy a gangster film with bullets blood beat down and shakedowns Paul Muni the godfather of badass characters doesn't matter good or bad
This is one of the best movies ever
Timeless Classic of Cinema!
I was today years old when I found out Al Pacinos Scarface isn't the original 😂
😂😂lol same here
Both versions are masterpieces with the same basic plot, but set during distinctly different era's...
I've seen this film before. All of the "X's" that you see in every major scene is this film indicates that a similar event actually happened. The x marks are scattered around the background of the film. There is also a rumor that during filming of this film a man got his eye shot out by live ammunition; and there are also rumors that real gangsters were involved with the production.
Senyora Santibañez why surprising?
I didn't see a single X?
Doesn't surprise me, as James Cagney himself disclosed that they used "Live" ammunition during his gangster films in the 1930's etc. He recalled being badly injured/ even killed when machine gun fire was shot over his head. ! Can't quite recall the exact film but it might have been White Heat ??
Great films great actor
(In my youth, the rumour was George Raft had real gangster connections ? Don't know for sure, but he was banned from coming into the country because of this "supposed connection" ?)
@@michelemartin3642, George Raft had connections with Bugsy Siegel
@@RENZEENO, pause at 0:17 (upper right hand corner).
This film arguably has the greatest opening shot in cinematic history.
Which scene are you referring to?
History Man The opening shot of course. The lamppost.
That is correct. my favorite opening shot right now is The one for Werckmeister Harmonies.
pingu nooty
How about Woody Allen’s “Manhattan” opening.
GTA 6 confirmed
Brenda YT buddy I wish
All I want is a good GTA Vice City remaster, but thanks to the Amazing soundtrack that will be nearly impossible to do (without cutting things out like they did with the San Andreas xbox 360 port).

Mafia Remastered version ☝🏻
@@360zm4 They could easily pay some producer to remake most of it. Rockstar made billions off gta 5 online, they could totally do it if they felt like it.
How dare you! I love both versions, they're both great films.
I know alot of people love the 83 version but I also loved this hell without this we wouldn't never gotten scarface
I just watched this movie for the first time such a masterpiece
Scarface in 1932: "say hello to little brother say"
Scarface in 83: "SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!" BOOM
Just imagine that everybody in this movie is death now
Norman Ritter I want to be Death too.
The Doomslayer why bro? I hope u are joking , if u are thinking about suicide just dm me ..
Bro im from germany and my english isnt the best soo..
Not as dead as your spelling.
Paco Aguilar you are from albania/kosovo...
Incontestably, Howard Hawks’ best film !
Each sequence is a masterpiece !!!
To watch it over and over again ...
His leanest + meanest until His Girl Friday
1932 version of Scarface is something I really want to pay attention to.
This movie is gangster if you loved Boardwalk Empire you will love this movie.
They're both dedicated to Al Capone
It's pure gold
Saw it when I was a child but I'm not as old as it... My dad used to watch B/W gangster and western movies. Love B/W movies!
Absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt live Boardwalk Empire. Superb television
@@zro9712 Boardwalk Empire is about so much more than Al Capone.
Told my 84 year old grandmother i bought the 1931 version of scarface on dvd today...... she asked me how old is was again 😂💖💖😫 and I'm 26 turn 27 in about 2 weeks . Im an old soul
Take care bud
Similarities to the 1983 version that I see in this trailer
0:59 - the club scene
1:12 - Tony getting upset at Gina about the club situation
2:01 - the shootout at Tony Montana’s mansion
2:30 - Say hello to my little friend
wtf is he saying at 2:30?
@@markn9619 it’s hard to understand the ranting. It doesn’t sound like a timeless quote like the famous one in the 1983 version which is well known
@@stefantomasi4036 yeah its like he’s speaking a different language.
@@markn9619 Look at them Monkey's there! They think they can get Tony Camonte huh? Hahaha, Il Duce(The Master/Leader)!
@@markn9619I couldn’t make it out either
Great movie! Especially when he first got his hands on that tommy gun.
I always find this one more violent than De Palma's version.
I agree, the original 1932 version of Scarface is a little violent, even for that time; I can't believe that this film is rated PG.
+History Man Right. In this version, to me, each killing is cold and distant. The main character isn't self aware of what he is (where as in the De Palma version it feels like a romantic farce) and he doesn't know the value of human life; to him it's just like swatting flies.
THE W0LF true indeed but Howard Hawks was a brilliant director. He did a great job with this 1932 masterpiece.
Kevin Ceniceros PG back then wasn’t the same PG as today.
thats because you're blind ;)
If they were to make a remake of Scarface. I'd rather they remake this one instead of Al Pacino's
Your on crack
Bigpito Nachito I mean think about it Al Pacinos Scarface isn’t that dated compared to this Scarface the 1930 one is way older and could use a remake
Pacino is a remake of this one, and plus it is being remade again and it’s being written by the coen brothers. Not directed by them tho but it could be good
This was made during the 30s aka the Great Depression
And prohibition era which it is basically all about
Released 89 years ago, I bet the original movie poster would be worth a fortune.
¡Indiscutiblemente, la mejor película de Howard Hawks! Cada secuencia es una obra maestra!!! Para verlo una y otra vez...
Say hello to my little friend!! Not. Just got it on DVD and so looking forward to watching the original.
A reissue trailer. Will we ever see the 1932 original trailer ? Probably not. Still , this is the definitive all time gangster movie. Muni is superb. Miles ahead of the Pacino version which sometimes looks like a long talking Miami vice episode
No because it prolly was in the newspaper.
Tony really loved his sister. Too much.
Different time
@@concreteman03 no it was weird then too
Sweet home alabama
Call me naive, but given this was released in '32, I honestly DID NOT expect that much violence, even for a gangster film, I gues I assumed it would be more implied! Was this film pre "Code" era in Hollywood? Let me go watch some musicals to get my mind right again, lol.
Times of WW 1&2
Its pre-code yeah. Recommended film if you haven't see it
Howard Huges was the man!
Scarface aka Al Capone. Awesome movie!!!
the beginning of a legend
I had no idea that this was the original.
I'd love to get my hands on the actual screen play.
I wonder who has the original trailer(I know it still exists because I saw it on the Starz documentary Bullets Over Hollywood last decade when it first came on the channel). I've been wanting to see it for years!
I could see myself getting into these old black & white films at some point. Something about the way they’re shot offers a certain amount of authenticity.
This movie is better than the 80"s remake
Imagine LA Noire clashed with ScarFace and Rockstar made it a game that'll be rad
JUST FINISHED WATCHING THIS CLASSIC FOR THE FIRST TIME HE IS THE REAL SCARFACE THE SCARY VERSION AND I LOVED PAUL MUNIS FUNNY SIDE WHE HE WAS TALKING TO THE DETECTIVE HE SAID SHES VERY NICE AND DOES THE CURVEY SIGNS WITH HIS HANDS LOL AND WHEN HE WHIPES THE RING ON HIS SHIRT LOL AND ALSO LIKED HIS SERIOUS EXPRESSIONS CLOSE UP LOOK IN HIS EYES YOU SEE THE DEVIL. HE IS COLD HIS TEMPER CAN TURN ON ANY SECOND JUST LIKE ME THE WORLD IS YOURS GEV SCARFACE.
Just got the Blu-ray of this great film. Includes the alternate ending version of Muni going to the gallows.

A Human you referring to tony camonte and lovo?
George Raft was a real gangster before this film
Its wierd to know that All the main actors and director have passed away
"1932 Scarface is better than 1983 Scarface" - said no one
Palonchi P ... I think it's much better myself .... the 32 version to the 83 version because it doesn't contain all the drugs and sex and extreme violent scenes! It's the real deal and it comes from the real 20's 30's gangster era with the authentic clothes cars costumes/dress and music of the times! It's just a real classic and back then it was ahead if it's time! Paul Muni was simply the BEST 'Tony' and lead gangster! He was the Marlon Brando and Pacino all wrapped into one during his era and career. Love old cinema by far and the black and white only added to the movie too.

EmeraldJade66 well that is your opinion and we gotta respect that. But people often love more detailed movies rather than those “pure” ones so do I myself
Umm no, the 1932 film is slightly better than the remake because it feels much fresher (it's the original!). But both films are Classics.
I love both movies, but the original is more violent for its time.
1:27 is it just me does it feel like the head of that guy was photoshoped in lol.
Great what if TCM Asia will air this because we do not have TCM Asia anymore on Skycable Philippines 🙁😢. I turly like this movie including the 1983 movie of Scarface
I had no idea its was other scarface
2:27 say hello to my little friend
Howard Hughes was one of the makers of this film. Sad we didn’t get to see the time period of him making it in his bio-pic “The Aviator”
This one is a masterpiece but in my case being latino I feel more identified with De Palma's version.
Thanks
Paul Muni is the greatest actor of ALL time.
Also, an awesome actor name
Much better than the loose 1983 remake.
Don't know why they call Brian De Palma's remake of this movie. They are different movies overall.
If you look really closely for a quick millisecond you can see little al pacino in the background just watching tony
This trailer is from 1979 u can see it at the end
Universal bought the rights after it had acquired Howard Hughes' motion picture back catalogue (particularly the ones he did at United Artists in the early 1930s, such as "Scarface"). That is why you see "Copyright 1979 Universal City Studios" byline. This was a re-issue.
Which is why Universal was involved in the remake starring Al Pacino. They own the copyright to the first "Scarface".
Wow United Artists has been around forever.
Written by Ben Hecht that's why and took eleven days to write screenwriters.
En Chicago, Illinoissss!!
Think this version is better than the 1983 one? I don't mind.
They're both equal.
This is not the original trailer.
Damn I missed the release day I knew I shouldn’t have ate that spam sandwich
have it watching it!
Based on capone
I mean Al Pacino's was a "remake" but they're 2 completely different movies.
I see a ton of similarity in storyline, from the trailer alone. "Exact" same scene setup numerous times.
@@GalaxyUltraSamsungI’m more keen about Scarface with Al Pacino

Why glorify losers

@@francescogallego why are you here? As in watching this trailer? "Why glorify losers?" If you don't enjoy gangster movies then ignore them.
So this version is mostly based on Al Capone. Still prefer the 1983 version just cuz Pachino did a phenomenal job and it’s also based on a Cuban immigrant and I got love for my people🇨🇺
did you watch this version?
♥amazing
This movie is living proof that women go for bad boys over nice guys! Awesome!
So the original Scarface movie really was based on the real Scarface? (Al Capone)
I guess I've always known this, but when you hear "Scarface" now, you just automatically associate it with the Brian de Palma film and Al Pacino, and the character being a Cuban "political immigrant."
SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!!!!
Even in the 30s movie trailers gave away too much
It’s a late 1970’s trailer for a rerelease of the movie before Scarface 1983 came out.
looks like horror movie ;p
Anhand des Trailer's lässt sich schon erkennen " Ein Klassiker " Jedenfalls für Film Freunde der Alten Schule :-)
Made a couple of GIFS from this trailer, as I made a few from the de Palma/ Pacino version today too.
what is crazy is that we always fail to realise that old films feature humans doing the same old thing they've done for countless millenia. We always fall into the trap of thinking we're smarter or wiser than folks before.....discuss
1:20 LOL
So good
The Pacino Scarface brought me here
looks better in thats its different from the remake
I would have loved to have lived in this era!!! Seems everybody was a mobster even the cops hahahaha!!!!

Hope to see a third version directed by a South Korean and this time Dokdo is controlled by the Japanese government for the time being and Nathaniel Lees is Tony Yasumosa that could lead on Colombians on the support of South Korea in the Takeshima/Dokdo conflict on Colombia on Team Dokdo because of a similar situation.
so this guy is essentially al Capone?

Rent it on prime
Or buy the Bluray with the normal and the censored Version.
It's a great movie but this trailer isn't. Too off target and the narrator sounds like he couldn't care less what he is reading.
