    Hey Darren, doing it by hand will create "pressure points". This is the word you have been looking for I believe. This will result in an uneven surface after sanding without a block. However, having years of experience someone knows exactly how to position his fingers and palm on the panel, how much pressure to apply, and for how long he needs to sand a particular spot.
    Great video!!! Keep up the good work!!!

  • @alanw2235
    @alanw2235 4 роки тому

    We started wet-sanding back in the early eighties! Sand it old school by hand and not with some damn power sander!! omg. These new backing pads today suck! get the original rubber, flexible pads and not these stiff foam looped backing pads, those don't work worth an crap. You want flexibility so that you can go onto the edge of the buffer at an angle without burning or scuffing. You also don't keep an polishing pad level when you buff paint because the center of the wheel will grab on you and burn your paint too. These new techniques today really are amateur... like i said, OLD school gives you the best results ever and always will. This is how it all started and this is how the custom paint jobs you see today are really done. People actually forget why wet-sanding was originally developed... it was never for scratched paint or hairline scratches, wet-sanding was started to get rid of "Orange-Peel" which is automatically in the paint from the manufacturer. All paint jobs have orange peel and we use to take brand new cars off the floor and wet sand them. Once the orange peel is gone the paint comes out like an mirror. And it's not an "Rotary" Buffer, it's an High Speed Buffer. Your Orbital polisher is an Rotary Buffer.

    Please I need some advise. Is it possible, or let me ask it better, in that specific case how can I use the rotary to finish the work? I mean, Can I use a rotary with a foam finishing pad to get the same results? I am asking that because in other places around, outside the USA, it´s virtually impossible to get a quality DA without selling both eyes because of the price.
    Again thanks for the video and for the good explanations

    Its true,to many people are wasting time with dual action polishers,what a joke . #1 wet sand a hood for example,#2 POLISH WITH A ROTARY BUFFER,#3 AND THEN YOU MAY USE A DUAL ACTION POLISHER TO REMOVE THE HAZE!.THATS OUR ISSUE ,THE HAZE ! ITS AWFUL AND A WASTE OF TIME TO START TO FINISH WITH A DUAL ACTION. HES RIGHT. ROTARY FIRST THEN DUAL ACTION
