Two years on and still one of the most useful videos demonstrating these techniques. Brushing up on my wet sanding lately, and this was wonderful info. Thanks as always, Sandro.
I'm a detail shop manager at a Toyota dealership. We don't normally do wet or dry sanding. But if we do it's prep for ceramic coating. This is the video I recommend to my guys to watch to get the basic feel of wet sanding. The rest of my training I demonstrat on old wholesale cars. Lol
I finally got my dream job. Kinda.. I'm an industrial powder coater and liquid painter. We do lots of big commercial vehicles such as combines, field sprayers, grain bins trunking, etc. We've also been taking in a lot of car parts. My foreman just completely fixed the body on one of our office employees cars. I've been watching him as he works and asking questions to learn more. The car came out beautifully! Better than 2022 cars and trucks right off the lot. I feel like I need to take more time to learn about the more intricate parts of painting. It's been a life saver. I've been dealing with a lot lately and getting suited up and masked with a paint gun in my hand has alleviated a lot of stress. I'm hoping that I learn quick enough to do more of the intricate jobs like my foreman gets to do. As for now, I'll finish my 97 cvt challenger "terra gator" row sprayer and attempt to use the information gathered from this video on it. I hope it comes out good! The crew and I have 112 hours of labor on this beast and we're just now getting to the primer.
I purchased a used one as the piece is a bit pricey, but the machine ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxG6fbm3cHBd7CNTjk5D-dwYe9c9tCB9ZN has surpassed my expectations. We sand small parts by hand often, sized around 1"x1/2," and specifically look for a piece that's designed to be vertical. The motor has plenty of torque and great speed settings. The only inconvenience I had is that the disk measures 5" where we trim 6" stick-and-sand disks down easily by mounting it then cutting with a box cutter.
we have to copy million of you for each country in the world man we need more sandra in this world what an awesome guy you are bro thank you so much for shairing your awesome experience and craftsmanship with us i have learned a lot from you and i am so thankful
Boy - I'm going to start sounding like a broken record, but thanks again Sandro. I have started to be more comfortable with sanding on my clients vehicles, and this instilled valuable knowledge for my next one. Appreciate all your insight you have given me through your videos and our conversations on Instagram. - Cheers
Love this channel! Just found it few days ago. Not only is it thorough, but soothing at the same time. You can learn to correct paint and sleep well at the same time!! It's a win win!!
Well done...with these products...yes.. im producing 650 cars compounds /year...i will try your products..work with meguiars n milwaukee battery polisher...good work youre doind👍
Hey Sandro, Thanks, this video is really helpful for me right now. My daughter rocked up with a black 2012 Subaru today and asked what I could do with it. The doors looked exactly like your test panel! Mate you saved me so much time and you are a good teacher. All I have to do is buy some wet sanding discs, Thanks again
I enjoy watching how-to videos and have just started learning to correct paint on vehicles. My Guinea pig is my girlfriends ‘17 Camry that is a black metallic color with plenty of scratches 😂. I can’t wait to go back over a couple steps on her car with what I learned watching your video. This video is one of the best tutorials I’ve seen on UA-cam! Thumbs up my friend!
Thanks for this video. I had a car which had Adams "paint sealant" put on the door with the result that there was a chalky white film which looked terrible. Compound didn't touch it so I gritted my teeth, got a sanding block and started with 1000 grit paper and a hose. White stuff came off with the water, after 2 passes I switched to 2000 grit, then 2500. Less white stuff but paint looked terrible. Then compound, 2 passes, then polish, 2 passes. Door looks infinitely better, finished it off with a coating of carnuba wax. Your video gave me the confidence that there was a chance the paint wouldn't be destroyed, and to be honest I had nothing to lose anyway. Now car is back to happy! 3 coffees bought.
Really great to hear that after what sounds like a lot of work to fix the issue, it all came up well in the end! Really happy that the video helped and thanks so much for the support!
I’m just starting out in paint correction and this is the BEST video I’ve seen that actually shows the affect each step has on the paint. I actually feel confident to get started now whereas before I just kept putting it off. Great vid bud!
Brilliant lesson tonight 👍🏼 Thank you. I obviously have to start saving for a paint gauge to rely on as I don't believe Mitsubishi put much clear on their lower end City shopping trolleys 🚗🛒😁
I've found your videos to be first class and just enough information to give confidence to do this work myself. I'm a used car dealer and hardly wet sand any paint - I use a cut/polish type product (with bad paint or deep scratches Farecla G3) on an orange foam pad & remove swirls/spider web/hologram stuff using Farecla G10 or 3M Ultrafine with a black foam pad. The machine I use is not DA just orbital. Autoglym has been my "go-to" polish of choice for many years. In fact - I have found it so good it has covered many of my errors (maybe fillers or special optical effects in the polish??). I can get a good level of shine back on all colours... I'm tempted to have a go at some wet sanding now. I don't have airlines and so electrical powered equipment is my route. In the future I'd like to try more detailed approach to the better quality cars that I sell & buy a DA sander/polisher and use a foam backing pad. In your video here - I would have loved to have seen what results my approach would have gained on the right side of that panel..... what you did is obvious - but also looks like a hint of magic :) I guess that's experience - that hidden factor! In all.... THANK YOU for your support - even though you didnt know you were!!! :)
Great video Sandro...you have provided enough knowledge to give me the confidence to tackle some old scouring pad scratches on the bonnet of my otherwise flawless Heron White VT. Legend.
Great video, this helps me tremendously! I have an old BMW that needs some serious paint work, very similar to your "before" condition. Thanks for making this video!
Hey Sandro! You are the man! It’s mind blowing the results you can achieve from wet sanding. You could barely see the metallic flacks in the paint before you started. Honestly, I didn’t notice the flacks at all till the end. 😁 I just love the art of detailing. Your canvas, your creation, your masterpiece! Love it 😊 Good day mate...
Sandro, thank you very much sir!! This was a very interesting video, with a lot of information that I have not found before! I truly hope you enjoy making these videos like I do watching them, I thank you a lot for all the time and effort you put in making such amazing content!! Hats off to you!!
Sandro, Another great video! I guess that the determination to wet sand vs. compound depends on a couple of things: the depth of the imperfections, the degree of defect removal desired, the time you have to work this, and the amount of money the customer has. From my experience, always use the least aggressive method first, then gradually work your way to wet sanding. Keep up the good work!
Here goes nothing. I'm going to try wet sanding for the 1st time on my rear bumper. Let's see how it goes. Very informative. I feel more confident now.
Detailed, Comprehensive, Well thought out, well shot and well executed educational video. Your approach to car detailing and your attention to detail is noted and greatly appreciated. I have a question for you. Let's say that you had a few large rock chips or LOTS of small rock chips on that panel in addition to all the scratches and swirls. Would you use touch up paint and fill in those rock chips before or after wet sanding or before or after compounding? Let's say your touch paint is from the manufacturer and it comes with clear coat too. When would you apply that. This is one question that I've never seen addressed during these kinds of informative vides. I look forward to your response. THANKS in advance.
Thanks, and I’d apply the touch up after the first stage of sanding, make sure it has a couple days to harden and then continue sanding, compounding and polishing.
This was awesome! I have a 2006 Porsche that has a failed coating that I’m needing to take off, going to do some wet sanding and compare it to the compound test spot I did. Thanks for the awesome video
Two years on and still one of the most useful videos demonstrating these techniques. Brushing up on my wet sanding lately, and this was wonderful info. Thanks as always, Sandro.
*Works really **MyBest.Tools** well, and fits hand perfectly.*

One of the best guides out there. Wet sanding was probably the last piece of the detailing puzzle for me. Brilliant tutorial! Thanks man. 👍
Wow I thought it already looked great until I saw that extra polish step under the light! Nice!
It's unbelievable what you can get out of there. Perfect result. Your guides are really very helpful. Thanks Sandro. Good luck and stay healthy
Just when I was looking for a wet-sanding video to fix my 1990 Miata you post this. Thank you Sandro! I've just got a tutorial from the best

From someone who has zero knowledge or experience with wet sanding car paint, I'm stunned at the transformation.

what an awesome guy you are bro thank you so much for shairing your awesome experience and craftsmanship with us i have learned a lot from you and i am so thankful
Best video on this topic. Ive been so scared of using a da for sanding due to pigtails. Now that i understand why it happens I'm more confident
One of the BEST wet sanding tutorials ever. Amazing 🤯Thanks Sandro!! 🙏🏻
Easily some of the best paint correction tutorials I’ve seen on UA-cam. 👏🏾 Many thanks for these Sandro. 🙏🏾

Your video is very helpful! See the 3 different parts of the untouched, compounded and polishing sides was really cool.
One of the best instructional paint defect videos I've seen. Well done!
This guy here deserves million followers 🔥

what a remarkable video. Excellent as usual. Only problem is everyone will want to wet sand instead of spending time with a cutting compound.
I’m just starting out in paint correction and this is the BEST video I’ve seen that actually shows the affect each step has on the paint. I actually feel confident to get started now whereas before I just kept putting it off. Great vid bud!
Amazing!!! This is what I call professional job, you even using clearcoat measuring tool👌
Brilliant lesson tonight 👍🏼
Thank you.
I obviously have to start saving for a paint gauge to rely on as I don't believe Mitsubishi put much clear on their lower end City shopping trolleys

Sanding flat panels is easey, i would like to see a demonstration of body lines, door jamps, restricted areas. My car has very little flat.areas
