We use "Landing With 6S": With = Wind S1= Size S2= Shape with respect to wind S3= Slope S4= Suroundings S5= Surface S6=Stock Okay so that is going back to the 80's in Bell 47Gs but I have used it for all my flying ever since.
Hello Matey, well that was well good I absolutely loved that!! The only thing is, I presume there is a duration limit on your videos with UA-cam otherwise why did you speed up the video? I would love to have seen the flight in full, in fact, I could watch this all day it was so good, and how the hell you could hover that sucker at 2 feet, talk and listen to the old boy next to you, was friggin awesome mate - very impressive! Hey just a thought, it would have been bloody hilarious if you accidentally found yourself hovering in an enclosed area and over a young couple of horn dogs making out in that field PMSL
David Cornwell haha yes that would be funny. They’d think the police have caught them! Part of the fun is seeing your progression in being able to do multiple things at once. I try to keep my videos short and topical. There will be more full length stuff when I’m doing navigation type flights but this one is focussed on the confined areas so no need to show start up, take off and shutdown etc, as people get bored and turn off unlike yourself! Just trying to keep everyone happy 😀
When I was taught to survey a field, there was another “s” in that list (which you did mention, but did not include it as an “s”). That “s” is “stock” as in “livestock”. I think another one is also appropriate - Structures. Sports pitches are likely to have goalposts or nets and other fields might have poles for cables.
Another problem with sports pitches is, if they are adjacent to a town, they count as being part of the congested area and are therefore subject to the 1000ft rule (which unlike the 500ft rule is not waived when landing and taking off except at licensed or government airfields).
I would be keen to know how you calculate power available, and what that means for your departure. Perhaps you can show me when you have your license, and you come and pick me up from my back garden.
Brilliant video mate! Helicopters are so much cooler then planes!
Haha thanks pal!
Cool video! Good to see how it works
Thanks mate!
This was one of my favourite lessons so far. Well done for explaining it well. 👍
Rory On Air thanks pal! Yes it was, key difference from flying fixed wing 😀
That was super cool, thanks mate
Thanks!
Nice video, enjoyed this.
Plane Old Ben Thanks Ben. Hope you’re keeping well!
Great video lesson! Thank you both!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This one made me a subscriber. Good length for the video. Exactly to the point. Good illustrations. And most of all solid content. Thanks for sharing.

Ok cool, that makes sense.
Philip says outstanding performance buddy can you teach philip with some lessons please.
I'm not an instructor yet but hopefully sometime next year haha
Cool stuff, you're making me jealous, there was no buzzing round in some random field in aeroplane training XD
Joe Richardson I know, this is the key difference 😃

@@TheMicroPilot Can't wait, mate, I really can't.

The Flying Reporter haha maybe not the back garden but I’ll definitely take you up like I promised!
