My favorite weird transformers are -Skullcruncher, a Decepticon crocodile who eats people because he self conscious about eating people. -Missfire, a Decepticon so bad at being a soldier he flunked our off the Decepticon Military College 4627 times.
Cullen makes a very brief voice appearance in The Goofy Movie. The song "After Today" at the beginning of the film, he voices the fat bus driver singing "I'm gonna sit on my butt."
I remember Transformers once had a tie-in with Animorphs. I had a big one that was Jake, Cassie, and Marco combining into a T-Rex. I think I got it for my birthday or something. It was very strange, but I loved it because I was all about dem Animorphs.
I vividly remember finding one of those, Tobias I think, at my middle school library. I had no idea why it had all the transformers branding (honestly I still don’t), but it was exactly the thing to appeal to 10yr old me.
Yes they were, there was a animated movie called Gobots Battle of the Rocklords in which both species met. Thing that they got wrong though is that while nugget is a robot Rocklord the others were not robots, but aliens that were living rocks.
I did have Skorponok, & absolutely loved him. He was one of the few I had whose arm didn't break off at some point. That was a real problem for my poor troops, losing arms. Metroplex's snapped off the day after Christmas.
Of corse when they’re talking about pretenders they don’t mention Sari. Let me explain- in 2007, Transformers Animated was released on the Cartoon Network- it was sorta like Hasbro’s way of cashing in on both the Anime craze and the Stylized-Teen-Superhero craze of the 2000s. Sari Sumdac was the Autobot’s human companion of this series- she’s Indian (I guess?) and voiced by Tara Strong- Aka the goddess of female voices. Hopefully she won’t go through any controversies surrounding this character in the next few months. Sari had this Allspark-Key-Plot-Devise thing that was created by the Allspark- ya know, that cube thin from the live action movies? Yeah, that. Everybody wants it, because it can A: create new Cybertronian life and B: solve everybody’s problems. Say Bumblebee gets hurt in some battle- Sari just puts her key in his port and boom- he’s back to normal. Witch kinda makes Ratchet’s inclusion in the show kinda pointless. But check it out, this is where it gets wierd- In the season 2 finale, Sari gets hurt, and there’s this big reveal show showing her skin- but it’s not human muscles- there’s light blue circuitry in there, it’s made out of metal. She’s a Cybertronian. A techno-organic, to be more specific. Turns out Isaac Sumdac- Sari’s father- actually found her in a Cybertronian stasis pod as a sparkling- witch is just a transformers version of a baby. She scans his likeness, and he adopts her as her “daughter”. She doesn’t take it well. Some time after, the Autobots are fighting a Rock Lord (yes, THOSE Rock Lords) and they’re losing. Sari decides to put the key into her chest- and it upgrades her, she goes through cyber-puberty. She looks about 16-18 years old now. She’s got a sorta Iron-Man looking spark on her chest. But that’s not all- she can turn herself into a Cybertronian. Her armor has the same colors as her clothes, she’s got energy blades in her arms, blasters in her arms, everything in her arms now. She’s a Swiss-army-Bot basically. And after this series ended, she never returned, not even in a cameo. It’s kinda disappointing, she had a good relationship with the Autobots, and the idea of a half human half Cybertronian can lead to some great storylines. And we still have no clue where she came from... TL;DR: My Life As A Teenage Cybertronian
Well yeah, of course she didn’t appear again once the series ended, basically no “human” characters ever appear in more than one series. Look at the kids from prime, or Sam from the movies, they basically always stay in their own respective continuities.
Oh man, the Rock Lords. _What a classic !_ It was Tonka's atempt to Make My Pet Rock Great Again. Even tho there was no internet yet the amount of backlash these recieved was legedary because sales were abysmal, however a cartoon series was probably all it needed for most of us kids who were into GoBots to have digged them silly things.
My brother has an entire room filled with almost EVERY transformer made. Even the big ones. My childhood is living in that room vicariously through him.
I remember someone once told me Fortress Maximus could use other transformers for his head. Like the Grand Mal from Beast Machines, but I never could find any images to prove this.
You could always preorder the Encore Fortress Maximus for about $400 (plus shipping and handling) from BBTS or do what I did and get the Car Robots Brave Maximus.
The silver one was pretty cool. And I try think the concept was unfairly maligned - they’re orbital free-fall troops, they hit like a Meteor, and then can fight survivors afterwards. With a good writer they could be hella scary.
This had probably been mentioned before, but Broadside wasn't afraid of water, it was that his gyrostabilizers would get severely disoriented when he was floating in his aircraft carrier mode on the ocean, making him... well... seasick!
The 2011 Meteoplex has stickers that are like windows, featuring several Autobots looking out... So even Scamper (included to man Meteoplex's emplaced guns) should massively out scale regular characters
I was that child who got Metroplex (as a joint bday/Xmas present) but what’s worse is; by the time opening time came around I was just about too old to care about transformers anymore. So I played with it half-heartedly for a bit then eventually sold the whole collection to a kid at school who is presumably now a millionaire.
My favorite part of the Transformers is they’re just based off a toy line but through the comics and cartoons they’ve come to have this ridiculously complicated lore and story. Highly recommend the IDW comics btw.
Back then told friends about the Washabots versus the Dryicons. They all got the gag, and all of them believed Optimus or Megatron would just step on them if they showed up to battle....lol
When you get right down to it, Fortress Maximus is basically a collection of boxes attached together. And Ultra Magnus was a brick that could fit an Optimus Prime on its insides.
The old transformers toys were amazing. And the Ultra Magnus toy in particular had so much thought put into the design. When you transformed it into truck mode, his blue chest plate and matching blue Magnus helmet merged to create a flying ship that appeared to have large cannons at the top. I had so much fun with that toy and all of the different alt. modes. :D
You're saying the American pretenders aren't convincingly disguised (which is true) but show footage of Masterforce where the pretenders shrink in size to appear believably human, those are different types of transformer.

When I was 7 I really wanted the deluxe edition Soundwave with all the tapes, I never got him. The first thing I bought with my first paycheck from my first job was Soundwave, I feel that vibe James, just fulfill your gribe and buy yours
i don't like being this early, it feels lonely
your are not alone anymore!
I don't mind this time. There was an earthquake here at 4:30 am and I've been up since then
Same

@@patricktsai2303 thanks. Hopefully there isnt another one while I'm at work. Already made an emergency kit for my dog and and gave a extra key to my neighbor
Not even a single mention of Rung, the Autobot whose alt mode was so ridiculously dumb even in-universe he didn't want other Autobots to know what it was.
Good video and some excellent edits there from Collings! Well timed too with that new War for Cybertron Mini series hitting Netflix today. I vaguely remember owning a Hot Rod and RC toy when I was kid. I also remember my friend had a Fortress Maximus and a Devastator and would never let me play with them 😑 I was more of a Beast Wars kid anyway 😂
I love the editing and dynamic here bloody brilliant stuff guys
You're a gosh darn legend Shawn.
“Letters for Algernon”? The guys in your book club are never going to stop ribbing you for that one. 😬
This reminds me of one of your earlier videos that actually made me subscribe to you back in 2013, it was the top 5 worst transformers I think. Love this one
My favorite weird transformers are
-Skullcruncher, a Decepticon crocodile who eats people because he self conscious about eating people.
-Missfire, a Decepticon so bad at being a soldier he flunked our off the Decepticon Military College 4627 times.
12:37 - And this is why G1 is still being made into newer toys even now, it's literally a mercy to those who wish they had that kind of money.....
I remember rock lords! I loved them as a child! In hindsight they were really crap!!
Man, you guys are really getting up my alley these past few weeks. Love me some Transformers. It's like it's my favorite thing or something.
Fun fact: Peter Cullen and Frank Welker voiced gobots and rocklords, they also voiced optimus prime, ironhide, megatron, soundwave, and ravage.
Cullen also voiced Venger in the D&D cartoon, which I grew up never knowing
@@timkinss That's pretty cool.
Peter Cullen also popped up on duck tales
Peter Cullen also played Eyeore from Winnie The Pooh and Monterey Jack from Chip n, Dale Rescue Rangers
Waitaminute, I had one of those RockLord toys when I was a youth. I had no idea it was connected to Go-Bots.
I just left an almost identical comment before I saw yours. Small world, eh?
Yes they were, there was a animated movie called Gobots Battle of the Rocklords in which both species met. Thing that they got wrong though is that while nugget is a robot Rocklord the others were not robots, but aliens that were living rocks.
I did have Skorponok, & absolutely loved him. He was one of the few I had whose arm didn't break off at some point. That was a real problem for my poor troops, losing arms. Metroplex's snapped off the day after Christmas.
5:40 Maso was on that Kate Bush train early
You can get the reissue Encore series Fortress Maximus for a few hundred dollars - and it's brand new but same old mold.
9:23 that edit! 😂👌🏾
Ultra Magnus wasn’t a cost cutting measure, the Diaclone mold he was based on was another release of the Optimus mold with different armor
HOLY SHIT HE MADE A KATE BUSH REFERENCE 2 YEARS BEFORE STRANGER THINGS MADE THAT SONG POPULAR!!!!
“Subscribe yeh I guess if u want”
Man. If I wasn’t already subscribed, that delivery would’ve had me sold
But check it out, this is where it gets wierd-
In the season 2 finale, Sari gets hurt, and there’s this big reveal show showing her skin- but it’s not human muscles- there’s light blue circuitry in there, it’s made out of metal.
That's life in the big city
Well yeah, of course she didn’t appear again once the series ended, basically no “human” characters ever appear in more than one series. Look at the kids from prime, or Sam from the movies, they basically always stay in their own respective continuities.
Charles Johnston That’s life in the big orange spaceship we call home witch is also a Godzilla-sized robot.
@@samishi2811
True, except for the humans from G1. The Witwickys all have several cameos in Animated, for example.
Couldnt buy Fortress Maximus in the 80's, almost forty years later still cant buy it lol
My brother has an entire room filled with almost EVERY transformer made. Even the big ones. My childhood is living in that room vicariously through him.
I'm here for all your Kate Bush jokes.
sammeeeeee
The simple fact that you added theme songs is a thumbs up. 👍
My older brother had a rock lord toy and I have only just realised that's what they are called after 27 years....I called him boulder boy ffs 🤣
I remember someone once told me Fortress Maximus could use other transformers for his head. Like the Grand Mal from Beast Machines, but I never could find any images to prove this.
5:44 niceee
You could always preorder the Encore Fortress Maximus for about $400 (plus shipping and handling) from BBTS or do what I did and get the Car Robots Brave Maximus.
At 6:08 when James said "Denver", I thought for sure there would be a picture of Denver from "Denver the last Dinosaur"
Still have my rock lords, nugget and the silver dude, plus one that just transforms into a square.
The silver one was pretty cool.
And I try think the concept was unfairly maligned - they’re orbital free-fall troops, they hit like a Meteor, and then can fight survivors afterwards. With a good writer they could be hella scary.
I would pitch it for them to have a fortress maximus they just need to set it up and make a video when they get it
I love that you’re breaking your brains watching all the Transformers movies! Good stuff! Thanks for the content guys!
You forgot my Ex! First we were very much in love and happy, then I transformed into a loser so she left me! It’s PC gone mad!
Nice swerve. I thought you were going to say she transformed into a raging bitch or some other colorful term!
Poor Ben looking all these clips up! Man ton of work
This had probably been mentioned before, but Broadside wasn't afraid of water, it was that his gyrostabilizers would get severely disoriented when he was floating in his aircraft carrier mode on the ocean, making him... well... seasick!
A Transformer living inside Fortress Maximus would be like a human living inside a giant.
The 2011 Meteoplex has stickers that are like windows, featuring several Autobots looking out... So even Scamper (included to man Meteoplex's emplaced guns) should massively out scale regular characters
I've met people who'd be into that.
Beast Wars fans... where ya at?
Its honestly how I was I introduced to transformers and I had to know more about them
MAXIMIZE!
Love the Raycon ad, ahaha. Raycon doesn't ship to Australia and we're Australian. Gotta Get Dat Money!
We’re really going in on this whole Transformers thing eh?
I appreciate being able to laugh within the first 30 seconds, these lads are a top class act
Did these movies break your brains or did they *transform* them?
Back then told friends about the Washabots versus the Dryicons. They all got the gag, and all of them believed Optimus or Megatron would just step on them if they showed up to battle....lol
The netflix transformers series is weird Optimus is so weird in that show. Siege
These guys defo deserve more subscribers very underrated
2:42 I HAVE THAT, IVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW IT TRANSFORMS FOR YEARS
When you get right down to it, Fortress Maximus is basically a collection of boxes attached together.
