      I am staying away from Intel for now. My favorite feature was the OC features that save directly to USB instead of just to the BIOS. So many times do I have to clear and loose things.

      I have decided to get this MB for the potential upgrade into CU DIMM in the future - as I upgrade my MB and CPU every 5-8 years. I needed a new CPU and MB so I went with this - knowing I will update the RAM and then maybe upgrade the CPU once Arrowlake lowers in price as the next gen is introduced and the older CPUs get phased out. I also think the ease of updating the BIOS and the other drivers through one program just makes things easy for a numpty like me who probably has not updated my BIOS and drivers since I got my current PC about 7 years ago.

    Watched the whole thing when at the same time opening and installing my Asus Z890-E Gaming WiFi, thank you so very much, it help tremendously to do the right things, including only installing 5 NVMEs on the right places and avoiding 2-3 and 2-4 slots, so I get the full x16 for my GPU. Currently a 3090, but soon to be a 5090 when available. keep it up the great work and you got a new subscriber here.

    Thank you for the detailed break down. I just purchased this MB for my 285k build. I decided to get this for productivity and creative work. Since I edit video a lot, I figured I needed something that wasn't scorching hot like the 13 or 14th gen cpus and I am preparing to upgrade into CU DIMM in a few years. Meanwhile, Im going to take advantage of all the M.2 slots and if it wasn't for you pointing out that the PCIE lanes would be shared with M.2 slot 3 and 4, I would have used them without thinking. So I am glad I only got 2 Gen5 M.2 SSDs for the time being and then I'll take advantage of the 4 other Gen4 slots for larger capacity drives in the future.

      Thank you so much for the incredibly kind words! One of the filming sessions for this video ran from 8 pm to 3 am lol. I have some sleep to catch up on. DIMM FIT is definitely a great new feature with a lot of promise. I think it is only on these new Intel Z890 motherboards at this time. However, it is my hope that Asus eventually brings this feature over to AMD motherboards as well.

    Though intel needs some fixes with application that needs HT, still this is a solid review.. need more reviwers like yourself to pay attention on in-depth details.. I simply hate reviewers who just do b-roll, standard talk over paper specs and call it a review (Marketing Gimmicks).. They don't talk about UEFI nor the utility application, these are the keypoints which what PC Builders will want to know. Just in case anyone else trying to build an Ultra 9 285k desktop, but you can't find any Ultra 9's for retail. I found some that come with an Asus z890 Motherboard bundle, on Central Computers site. I'm pretty sure they have all of the Asus z890 line, from the Extreme to the regular Strix. There's also $50 off. I just got the Ultra 9 with the z890-e. I was going to get the Maximus Hero, but the z890-e has the I/O that fits my needs better. I'm building a music production PC, so having a bunch of high speed USB slots is perfect for me.

    • @ErockOnTech
      @ErockOnTech  Місяць тому

      Both are great options. For me, the question is more so AMD or Intel. Because that is what you also have to decide here. X870-E is AMD and I have a full video on it. Z890-E is intel and that is this video. I am partial to AMD currently. But technically, this Z890-E does offer a few extra features over the X870-E.

    I am actually shocked that it took this long for this feature. I have always been insanely annoyed by needing to use another PC for my wifi drivers because it made zero sense to me. They don't even give you a disc, so you can use that to download what you need on your own. No, you need a completely separare computer to do it. So this is a beautiful update on a MB.

    • @ErockOnTech

      No. Using all 3 Gen 5 M.2 slots will slow it down. But if you use one of the Gen 5 slots and then use all the other non Gen 5 slots, you will be fine. By the way, in gaming, the slowing down to X8 vs X16 is a minimum difference.

    • @AlexHonger-fj3nx
      @AlexHonger-fj3nx Місяць тому

      @RKBenchmarker this is far, far, far from their only issue. Damn near every product Asus has put out in the past few years has had SOMETHING wrong with it...
      The RTX 20 series cards not having proper heat sink mounting, causing 2080's left and right to cook themselves.
      They had a continuous issue on their AM 4 boards with micro code causing CPU's to run 12% slower then they should.
      These new motherboard issues for Intel.
      Their AM5 boards causing the new X3D chips to blow themselves up killing the chip and board.
      Horrible customer service if the past few years.
      And those are only a few, they just don't give a fk anymore and are cashing in on their brand recognition, their products are half baked at best anymore.

Everyone I know either uses a external usb drive, cloud, & or nas for backup. Seems like they'd come up with something cooler than just a ridiculous amount of additional storage options barely anyone at all will ever use non work related..even work related in most cases.

    I asked Gamersnexus,(didnt answer yet) nerd on a budget,moores law is dead, ltt,(didnt anwser yet) and ufd tech, but i was asking if they think the i9 9900k can handle the 5090 at 4k 144hz max 125-150 render. What do you think

    • @ErockOnTech
      @ErockOnTech  Місяць тому

      That’s a good question. I just looked at some benchmarks at 4K with the 4090 and the 9900K. I would say we won’t know for sure until we can test the 5090. But it will likely depend on the game. For example, I can see the 9900K and 4090 perform similarly to a 7950x and 4090 at 4K in Call of Duty and Assassins Creed. However, other games have a clear bottleneck. So if the game is more CPU limited, then yeah you’re gonna have a problem for sure. Reading some Reddit posts I see a lot of debate on this topic. A lot of people are sharing their experiences upgrading from a 9900K. Most of them say they saw a noticeable improvement in performance even at 4K. To me that makes sense because so many games today are more and more CPU demanding. What did the other guys say?

    • @xpodx
      @xpodx Місяць тому +1

      @ErockOnTech i agree with you. There's many games that it's still gpu bound and a faster gpu would help me more than a faster cpu that might give me 10 more fps and better lows. A 5090 will be more like 30% or more.
      They said I should upgrade my cpu platform.

    • @xpodx
      @xpodx Місяць тому +1

      @ErockOnTech but yea you're right, they're games that would benefit from a faster cpu, and all my games would get better lows and little to no stutters, but my avg fps is still pretty high and I enjoy my 4k 144hz experience. But I think I'm gonna upgrade my 4090 to a 5090 next year sometime. Eventually get 8k 144hz when it comes out too, putting more of the gpu load on it again ha

  • @uwhat1
    @uwhat1 Місяць тому

    Good vid. The gaming metrics of the new Intel are pretty much pointless as the CPU's influence is only measurable at 1080p as the main fps will be GPU at higher res which most people play not all obviously. I love Gamers Nexus etc but they know that the only thing letting Intel down is the stupid price of their new release. I don't care to much about 1080 p settings as I generally play all games at 1440p - 4K which the CPU has almost no effect on so the new X3D would not be something I had any interest in as the productivity is way down

    • @ErockOnTech
      @ErockOnTech  Місяць тому

    I stayed on intel for a long time and wanted to believe in them but this is crap and having to buy a new motherboard every one or two generations is also crap. 9800X3D is up to 70% faster sometimes I meannnnn and intel has sait they wont give us any more cache for the next generation aswell. I am just sick of Intel and their decisions and leadership.
    I don’t think anyone should buy the core ultra series well maybe the cheaper ones or at the right price but even for professionals I think the 9950X3D will smoke the 285K for multi core workloads. Only reason to go intel is maybe thunderbolt 5 but you can buy a PCIE card for that and maybe Quicksync. And motherboards are nicer but then just buy a high end X870E motherboard with 10 gigabit Ethernet and stuff…
