Home comforts, Catch up, Keep tabs on someone, Pitch in, A few weeks time, These are the takeaway things for me from this episode. I am watching your podcasts thoroughly one after another and taking notes on new words, expressions. It's becoming a tradition for me to watch your podcasts everyday no matter how much busy I am! Thank you my teacher Kat and Mark
Wow well done for catching so many different phrases and expressions! You're clearly studying very hard - we really appreciate your attention and your message. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for your great videos every time. Whatching or listening your videos is my daily routine these days. You show so many useful expressions that I need. I've lerned from this episode; quality time, help out, lend me a hand, come over, head over, head off, pop over, whip up, home comforts, catch up with, keeping tabs on, pitch in, wander around, take a stroll, say my goodbyes .etc. I'll remenber and try to use them😊
Wow well done remembering so many different phrases - that's really impressive! We're really grateful that you like studying with us - we hope our future episodes are just as helpful!
I love the way you give us the keys for informal conversations.... And having a good time with our parents is not only a lovely topic but also a question you coud have in an English exam such as the Cambridge or the Oxford ones... Thanks🎉
Thank you regain.God bless you I am enthusiastically looking forward watching your videos every day.I am wondering if I have used enthusiastically grammatically right.could you please tell me .Thank a lot
I really enjoy learning English through this channel. My interest getting manifolded whenever I see your videos.. The way you break the sentences down that help me to understand clearly..,.Thanks a lot🙏🙏🙏 Have I made any grammatical mistakes? could you please tell me?
Thanks very much for your kind words! The only part of your comment that's a little confusing is the word "manifolded." A more common word would be: "My interest [grows] whenever I [watch] your videos."
I usually find myself going over to my parents house pretty much every sunday to catch up and have lunch together. My dad, who is honestly as really good cook , likez to barbecue outside . Usually our favorite home comforts. Then over a cup of tea. We catch up on each other's lives and share all the lastest local gossip. After breakfast, i lend my dad a hand with a few things around the house, especially as he gets old. If the weather 's nice, we might take a stroll around the park or the neighborhood. And when it 's time to leave, i say my goodbyes and they star planning for the following week.
I was wondering if there was a difference in pronunciations between wander and wonder. Thank you! My mom was visiting us during a month. We've had wonderful quality time together .
Good question! Yes, there's a subtle but important difference in pronunciation between wander and wonder! Here’s a quick breakdown: - Wander /ˈwɒn.dər/ The "a" sounds like the short "o" in "hot" or "cot" (IPA: /ɒ/). The pronunciation of "wander" rhymes with "ponder." -Wonder /ˈwʌn.dər/ The "o" sounds like the short "u" in "cup" or "fun" (IPA: /ʌ/). "Wonder" rhymes with "thunder." So, to sum up: - Wander - like "ponder" (with an “ah” sound). - Wonder - like "thunder" (with a more “uh” sound). These subtle vowel sounds make a big difference in distinguishing the two words in spoken English!
My mom came a few month ago but It was no traditional because she lives in Africa and me I live in abroad. Therefore, I can not head over her house . My mom is a fantastic cook. She cooked my favorite traditional food while we cacthed some family news. I got to see how my siblings are doing in Africa. I asked questions and She kept tabs on me .After she finished to cook, we ate in family and we went fo a walk . She always picthed in some chores at home.
Love your classes. The best way to start my day. I save some sentences to practice all day. Kat, I have a question. I notice that sometimes you include a do in some affirmative sentences. Would it be wrong if I just said "I notice that with my students sometimes"? Is it always necessary include DO in this kind of sentence? Thank you in an advance
Yes you have! Enthusiastically is an adverb, so you can put it after your auxiliary verb. I am waiting I am [enthusiastically] waiting. I can [enthusiastically] say that I enjoyed this episode. I would [enthusiastically] sing at karaoke.
This is a great channel. Thank you for giving useful lessons. I need more lessons in business English or English for professional settings. Hopefully, you will grant my request😊🙏
Good morning; speaking of spending quality time with parents, we, here in MORROCCO have been used to visiting our parents (or others membres of the family) every friday to eat together the famous national meal the COUSCOUS( have ever eaten it). Also we must visit them at the religion-fetes (breaking the fast "RAMADAN3° and at the great fet when we sacrifice the sheep).the visit tarts with drinking tea; lunch and ends with an other glass of tea or a cup of coffe.like by you ,we speak about news, neibourghs .we catch up.

Hello Kat and Mark! I love your content: I always learn something new, be it a phrasal verb, an expression, or some vocabulary. In particular this time I found interesting that in American accent "wonder/wander" is a minimal pair (and they're so damn close to my ears! 😁), while in British accent they're pretty much homophones. As always good job and thanks so much!
I even had a hard time listening to Mark’s accent! We’ll have to use context clues to help, normally it isn’t a problem but wander around and wonder about can sound very similar
I have a question . Can you explain the meaning of "" Find myself " in the sentence "but I usually find myself going over to my parents house pretty much every Sunday " Can you give any synonym for "find myself doing something""
That's a great question! "I find myself" often means that I do something almost instinctively, or without thinking about it or planning it too much. Synonyms for "find myself doing something" could be: "end up [doing something]" "habitually [do something]" "tend to [do something]" Hope that helps!
This channel is amazing! You guys are making a great job! Thank you so much for it! Go on and succes to you guys! I just subscribed and I'll follow all your content. Thank you very much!

Thank you so so much for your kind words! We really do appreciate you joining us for our classes and we're so happy to hear that you are enjoying them and you are learning a lot :) thanks for studying so hard, we're excited to see you for a next lesson!
Yes of course, how about you, what about you “and you?” Are all commonly used to keep the conversation going. We tend to say “and you, what are you doing this week” or “how about you, any weekend plans?” Kind of asking the original question back to the person These are all easy to use with anyone, boss, coworkers, family, friends ☺️
Lovely lesson. Just I would like to ask you to keep what the video is, it is for Advanced students , sometimes you define words that are for beginners. Other than that thanks a lot for your lessons.
Thanks for your comment and for watching! We know our videos reach a wide range of different students ranging from intermediate to advanced levels, so we like to include lots of quick explanations of many phrases and expressions we can so no one gets left behind.
The phrasal verb "pop into" (the supermarket) associates me with something I watched from a TV series. The context is that someone needed to go to the supermarket to get something quickly. I don't quite remember the words the character used, but I think there is a word "run." Could you please tell me what it probably is? There are too many episodes with that TV series and I don't know how to locate that...
Hello! That's a good question! Another way to say: "visit quickly" is "to run into" For example: "I need to [run into] the supermarket quickly and get some bread." "I'm gonna [run into] the pharmacy and get some eye drops." When someone says this, we expect them to go shopping very quickly! Hopefully that's the phrase you heard or were looking for :)
We have some videos just like that actually! There's a playlist called "Listen & Repeat" on our main channel page where you can listen to us repeating sentences to improve your fluency. Hopefully they can help!
