    🚌 Taking the Bus: UK vs USA - Advanced English Podcast Episode
    🎧 Hop on board for this episode of the Advanced English Podcast, where hosts from the USA and the UK share their experiences with using public transportation for their daily commutes. This episode is a journey through the practicalities, preferences, and peculiarities of bus travel in two different countries, all while enhancing your English language skills.
    🇺🇸 The American experience involves dealing with sporadic bus schedules and the use of a physical card to tap on a scanner for fare payment. The narrative highlights the convenience of live tracking apps, the ease of adding credits to the fare card, and personal habits during the ride, such as reading, studying, or watching videos. The comfort of getting on at the start of the line, ensuring a less crowded bus and securing a favorite seat, paints a picture of a somewhat relaxed commute.
    🇬🇧 The British perspective offers a look at more reliable bus services with set schedules. The use of a mobile app for fare payment and the advantages of purchasing weekly or monthly passes for cost efficiency are discussed. The account also touches on social courtesies, like leaving front seats available for those who need them most. The personal activities during the ride and the polite interaction with the bus driver upon exiting provide insight into a courteous and routine commute.
    📚 Throughout the episode, various terms and phrases related to public transportation, digital fare payments, and commuter etiquette are explained, making this an excellent resource for advanced English learners curious about daily life and language use in different settings.
    🌟 We're curious about your public transportation stories! Share your experiences and tips in the comments section. Don't forget to subscribe for more episodes that mix language learning with cultural exploration.

    Really nice content and the way to repeat some sentences several times. It's really helpful for me like Asian people studying English as foreign language. British and American accent both are awesome. Very interesting.

    Thanks for your teaching!!! ❤ I also, don't use public transport a lot... 'cause it's really unpredictable in my town. But it's definetly cheap... for half hour drive you pay less than 1 USD!!!

      I do...!! I commute by car, cause I live in a small town in the Patagonia (Argentina) and work in the (how do you say) "next" town... almost 30 km away... 😸🤠

    • @highlevellistening
      @highlevellistening  3 місяці тому +1

      "I work in the next town over" or "the neighboring town" ooh but 30 km away so you could also say...
      "I work in the next town over, even though it's 30 km away!"
      "I work in the neighboring town, but the closest town is 30 km away!"

    My dear teachers, Kat and Mark; as a very slow learner, I would like to say that I see your language teaching method as very correct and I think it would be useful for you to know that this style has an effective function in teaching languages. Especially your presentation of American and British accents together is very creative and innovative. Dear professors, as a follower of yours, I would be grateful to you if you could speak a little more slowly and present your lesson while teaching. In conclusion, I wish good luck to both of you and wish you continued success.

      Thank you for your kind words! We really appreciate it. These episodes in our advanced English podcast are meant to be naturally spoken conversation which means it our classes are spoken at a normal speed for native speakers. Our intermediate classes are a bit slower and simpler, taking time for understanding over speed.
      In the meantime, you can slow down our youtube videos by going to Settings, Playback Speed and choose a slower option like .75 in order to hear the sound slower than normal, I hope it will help you gain more understanding and confidence!
