Catch and Cook Grouse Permeegianne (AKA Parmigiana or Parmesan)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 лют 2020
- Ovens heads back out into the bush for a catch and cook grouse parmigiana, his own bushcraft version of chicken parmesan. Follow along as Greg travels out into the Rocky Mountains to harvest wild spruce grouse, prepping them in his "bushcraft kitchen", before cooking the meal on a wood fire.
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

Tune in every Friday for new episodes !
I'm very happy to hear that. Thank you for making videos. They are some of my favourites.
Food is way better in the bush
Your awesome man
thanky buddy
Dude you're my hero .Ramsey ain't a pimple . Lol I'm in the south tho . And right now I'm stuck in a damed apt. I'm about ready to leave . I need to be back in the weeds . I'm not happy anywhere else.

4:34 I saw sachsquach in the background. Over Gregs right shoulder.
Good catch i never noticed that guy
Samsqanch!
Same i saw it too
Wonder if it's Fowler
It doesn’t matter what kind of mitts they are, ALL of your mitts are Ovens mitts!

One of my favorite of Greg's videos
Greg "Don't need no" Ovens
What are you doing on Greg Oven’s video Preston!
Why this make me laugh my ass off I need to go hiking or something
Today I learned about Rigor Mortis, thanks Oven!
KNOWLEDGE!
I knew about rigor but didn't know about that for game. Now I'm questioning whether draining a deer asap is still the right choice or not. Everything I was shown as a kid is now in question.
Your show is FAR better than Gordon Ramsey's. Your channel is one of my favorites by far. I really wish I had a dad / family member like you around - especially when I was growing up. Anyway, thank you for what you do. You allow people, who live in modern society, to see where life's true happiness began is still remains - for 15 to 30 minutes anyways ;)
I love how you planted your own easter egg at 4:34! Awesome!
Love some Greg Ovens, so original and down to earth. I love the comment about Ramsey, "he's not going to eat it, I am" hahaha
Greg ovens is one of the best, thoroughly enjoy all of his content
Hi the best one I see.. you are the great ****
What here really meant was "thank you aye"
Lol great channel bro!

By far the best UA-cam on UA-cam it’s 12.30 am and I can’t sleep as I suffer from severe anxiety depression 😌 in no way I’m looking for sympathy but this man man got me out door sir I did my first catch and cook it was a 2kg flat head so about 4.4 pounds with some butter cooking on fire out doors I’m lowering my dose of meds thanks sir
Coming back to view this classic piece of content in October 2023 near Halloween. For some reason I couldn’t get this delectable dish out of my mind since august, a rewatch was in order and it was a better watch than the original. Kinda like wine, it gets better with age.
I’m so glad to see you making videos without Zach! I love Zach, I’m just glad to see that you’ve got your own thing going! PLEASE stay on it!
Much love from Illinois!
These montages are hilarious! 😂😂😂love the prep table greg, great info on resting game too...
Best cooking show ive ever watched
Gosh Greg, your style is so refreshing, compared to all these wannabe Bushcrafters. You are one with nature, so original. Keep it going!
This guy cooks better than most can with a kitchen ❤️ what a top dude loving the look !!
Right out of the gate, Ovens delivers familiar content but with his own unique style. Whether it’s grouse Parmesan or grouse parmegienne (with mozzarella) it’s a catch and cook like no other. Down to earth from the “I can’t find the clip” honesty, combined with zero glam prep on the hood of his truck make this not just a tasty dish but a refreshingly humorous “roast” of every catch and cook on UA-cam. Add the Fowler mischief with the editing (zacsquatch) and you’ve got a winner of a channel. God bless and keep up the great work guys.
this is the most underrated channel on youtube
I love Greg's cooking show
"You see, this is bush cooking... this isn't some fancy kitchen that we're working with here."
"I'll just use a stick to beat this up a bit. Good enough."
Hilarious. Love your style Greg.
I seriously enjoy you Greg Ovens. Keep them coming! I shall take this as a challenge and cook me something on a fire today!
“Thanks to the magic of video you don’t have to wait till tomorrow to see that”. Exactly! And I like that. So many infos, humor and entertaining. I love this channel
"I'm watching every episode." that looks delicious
Gordon really enjoyed that meal of yours by the sound of it. I’m surprised he didn’t give ya a Mitchellin star
Greg watching your videos brings me back to when my dad tought me Bush craft. a trick he tought me was a salt brine for grose in the latter season helps cut the pine tast when they switch from barrys and seeds to pine needles. oh man i could go for some right now.
I find it awesome that he feels the need to tell us he’s not in a fancy kitchen😊
Great job Greg, You're awesome and much love from Pennsylvania
Mother of god this is going on my bucket list.....
Lmao u r too adorable Greg Ovens. I’ve just started watching your videos and I really like how u have the splice ins lol and u really r made for producing your own videos they r hilarious. Glad I found your channel Greg
3 star kitchen in a 7 star environment......I love it
I absolutely love this video i lived in Alaska bush for 3 years bush life is certainly different i miss it.
“Cast iron” frying pan 🍳 is the way to go for me!👍😎
Bushkangaroo 1959 absolutely, cast iron is the only thing that I use at home or out in the woods!
Can’t forget a cast iron pot with a lid too!
agreed.
That looks really tasty! Loved the Bigfoot, made my day!
Great guy. Greg deserves every subscription.
THIS BOY IS A CLASSIC FREAKIN HERO****GONNA COOK ME SOME THIS WEEKEND****

"One thing I find in the bush, one of the best implements you can have is ugh stick...they're so handy."🔥🔥🔥
funny stuff :)
I just love watching your's and Fowler's Videos, you guys are the best.
and really can learn a lot.
thanks, Greg.
I love being outside, and I am excited to have grouse myself; my mouth was watering when I saw that delicous dish Ovens cooked up. Nothing like a good meal in the bush!
4:40 Greg catch clean and cook the bigfoot
I wish I can get you as a fellow survivalist instructor to get to come to the Adirondacks of upstate New York kind of similar to the Rockies but not that's how being in the bush was truly intended on being
You are just old school an unfiltered God bless you brother do not change
saw the ninja in a recent video too [the mouse trap fishing video, at 2:22 if I remember correctly]
Shout out to upstate ny!
Man you're awesome! Whoever does your editing is great too. Even saw Bigfoot in the background LOL! Keep making these awesome vids.
huge fan from Iran. First saw you on History Channel Alone. Now I am glad to see you have a UA-cam Channel.
I'm completely hooked on all his videos. Good stuff, im on a binge.
That looks really good! Im going to try it with some pheasant.
Yes on the pheasant! I used to raise and release them as a young farm boy. Grouse and pheasant are both fine poultry.
You know you're a beast soldier solid monster when you catch your meal from a tree and prepare it on the hood of your car.
Hey Greg, great video, you remind me of me. I'm 73, lived in remote Alaska all my life except for 6 years in the military and have lived off the land and love it to this day. I'm sure if you lived here we would be great friends. I'll be watching all your videos. Thanks for sharing.
with the glass pot it’s cool if you slowly bring up the heat and slowly reduce it don’t let it touch snow while hot
I've been hooked on these videos. Excited for a new one for sure
Nice one Greg! Love the "no fancy tools" approach. I've got a bit gear heavy recently so I'm gonna pair it back next trip and go "a la Greg" 😁🤘
That pinkie finger while he's eating and the pot! So fancy! Love this one, Greg!
Super chill lol I get so hungry cause I like to watch him cook in the night! Love the videos, maybe grab some oven mitts and some extra plates , paper plates are bad for the environment.
Hi mate, here in Australia, we have cast iron camp ovens that I think you would hugely benefit from. It is basically just a big steel pot with a steel lid that you can put coals underneath and on top. You can cook so many things in them from, stews to roasts to, breads and cakes! I hope you like the idea and can source them from Canada.
We call them Dutch Ovens here in the States. My mother makes some of the best blackberry cobbler on the coals...and now I'm hungry.
@Aaron P.B. I don't know if you're being sarcastic but I for one am unfamiliar with cat iron
@A. Azazagoth he thinks he's special because he's Australian

GOD THAT LOOKS SO GOOD I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW A GROUSE WAS A THING BEFORE THIS OMFG
Time to binge watch Greg.
I always learn something from your videos Greg. I did not know about the rigor mortis making the meat though. Thanks a bunch! Im still waiting to purchase a ferro rod from YOU.
excellent stuff Greg, cheers and look forward to the next one!
Great Video,
Many years ago as a young man, I took my girlfriend camping in the Livingstone mountains and amongst other pleasures we enjoyed a delicious cook up of ruffed grouse and Cutthroat trout in a high mountain meadow/campsite very much as you presented here. Ahhh the good old days, I got a wife and a great hunting/fishing spot out of that trip... the wife lasted 26 years... the Hunting/fishing spot 36 years...then it got clearcut. Oh well, nothing lasts forever...except the memories.
Nothing better than a man that can cook. Looks 👍
That looked Delicious. My new favorite show to watch on you tube..
A refreshing dose of reality
Your the man Greg!! And BTW, that's a glorious head of freedom you have my friend!! Reminds me of an old saying

Hello from WV Greg love your video's most common sense on u tube. Loved the fire making with the bow drill with one arm, best I have seen anywhere!😁
New content!! Woohoo. Just yesterday I prayed that Greg would put out more stuff.
Very interesting guy. More pure grit than say... beardsmanwithwoody.
FAN OF GREG; FAN OF WOODY as well. Each of them are AWESOME at this work.

I saw a 12 pack of Molson in the background, Canadian beer IS thee best !!
Zachsquash😂😂
I'm so glad you have kept doing the videos after the 30 day challenge. It was weird to hear the intro without that opening montage. I do enjoy the little cuts into the video also. And was that Zach dressed up like Sasquatch and inserted lol?
And thanks for all that info about rigor mortis (spelling) and wild game. That's great info I never even heard of.
I hadn't either! Your never to old to learn something!
Zachsquash🐒

Greg is not just a gentleman and scholar but also a gastronome! :)
What kind of truck do you drive?

ok, loved this channel for what it is, but these little comedy clips came in & they are gold!
HEY, THAT WAS MY UNCLE GIORGIO THE YETI !!! 1000 THUMBS UP,FROM ITALY !!! WILL TRY THIS !!!

And thats what i like most about this channel, Keep It Up Man.
Never tried that...looked really good.
I hadda rewind and take a second look at the sasquatch that's cool A.F.
Looks delicious, I love grouse!
Thanks Greg . I spend a lot of time in the wilderness often by myself . I know there are a lot of things in the Canadian wild to help us survive outdoors but not knowing what is safe to eat and what isn't can get one into BIG TROUBLE . I have only watched a few of your vids but I have already learned a few good tips. Eager to learn more, especially about wild edibles. Interesting trick with the sandwich bag. That was a new one for me . You can do that with a chunk of ice too . I still prefer a lighter or better yet 2 or 3 .
Mmm... I'm going hunting for the first time this year, and I figured I'd start with forest grouse, as they're included with my Washington state small game license. A lot easier to clean/dress and carry back to camp than a deer or elk, too.
I think he’s trying to convince everyone to Cook of the hood of there truck
You might have to after this Coronavirus crap lol
@@DrLove911 Who has to be convinced?
U mean U haven't? lol
