Track 11 from my collection of old goa trance tracks made in Impulse Tracker. This one was finished on April 6, 1999 (almost 2 months after the previous track). Here is where my sound took quite a radical turn towards more gritty and should I say "dark", as I'd definitely been spending the preceding months completely fascinated by The Lone Deranger, and the Twisted Records compilation Dementertainment. This is both technically and as a composition the most complex track I managed to write in Impulse Tracker, and the only thing that bothers me a bit about it is the bassline (you can probably guess why). Also, the track title feels oddly disjointed.
This really takes me back. I was always envious of people who were able to create great music using such, in my opinion at the time, limited tools.
Nowadays this sound isn't in vogue, as it lacks the usual compression, binaural effects and whatnot, but that's what makes it unique - it's just you, your samples and some basic effects like panning. Takes actual skill to get anywhere with this.
As they often say, limitations can fuel you creativity, but I'm not sure if I thought of a tracker as a limited tool back then, simply because I had nothing to compare it to. It still baffles me a bit how I managed to pull off all this in my late teenage years.
i wanna playyyy.......
Ah, those were the times!
And those times won't return :) but I hope I'll find some spark to make my own music again.

Yeah this track is the most interesting one in your collection ,very nice . Agree about the bassline being too invisible but very nice regardless .
Yeah, it really bugs me that the bassline ended up as it did. Thanks for listening in any case :)
First 4 sec works only right speaker for some unknown reason.
It's actually intentional, you can see the channel panning in the video :)
