It’s been a minute, but I got started writing music on ScreamTracker then switched to IT. I was in a demo group that competed at NAID in 95 and 96, and released some independent stuff too. I have never been happy with using MIDI DAW tools. Nothing provides the level of control and workflow like a tracker, imo. I wish there were some modern tools that had that same vibe. I love the idea of assigning effects per row in the tracker - so much better than editing sysex or whatever.
Yeah, when you get the keyboard shortcuts memorised, working in a tracker is lightning fast, and it's still kinda absurd how easy it is to do something as basic as pitch bends/slides in a tracker versus trying to do the same thing in a DAW. And concerning modern tools, someone mentioned Renoise, another guy uses ZTracker for sequencing hardware (I'm not familiar with either of those), and there's actually a script for REAPER (which is my DAW of choice) that creates a tracker style interface, but I've actually never used it. OpenMPT and Schism Tracker have also been mentioned in some of the comments here, and I'm quite sure there's more out there.
Oh OpenMPT is a great free tracker to use, and Famitracker as well, ive used both and had good success with learning/making music. Also while not entirely a tracker, the workflow is similar, Minecraft Note Block Studio lol.
@@pauleye.official Heyooo. I wish learning to create music, I shall start soon but; fr yours messages feels like gold informations despite I understood nothing :D I sure will listen to the bandcamp release. Keep it up ♫
You can do it. Let's fight AI together. It will be an epic battle. You're going to need weapons. Get a hold of a software synthesizer and a sampler. You'll need to know how sounds are constructed as well as how microphone recorded sounds are broken down into loops and oneshots. Chaining everything together is also a challenge you will spend many years perfecting. Eurorack and modular synth folks are masters of the patchbay. Grab cardinal and learn from the best. Route it all into an oscilloscope, a spectrogram/sonogram or spectrum analyzer and study what you're working with. It's a world of opportunity out there. Don't forget to share your fun with others. See you on the battlefield!
There are modern tools which have the same vibe: "Buzztard" and "ReNoise". Both feature a tracking interface for note input while being digital audio workstations.
Buzz certainly is an acquired taste, it's easy to get lost in the modular way it's set up, and end up making weird noises and complex setups instead of making some actual music XD Renoise has been mentioned before, I should maybe give it a go some day.
Astral Projection was the first goa trance I heard back in 1997, but I wouldn't say that this particular track sounds much like them. Some sounds might be similar, but the style, not so much if you ask me. Thanks for listening :)
Well, my tracks are Creative Commons licensed, but I usually prefer using the CC-BY-NC (noncommercial) license, and youtube doesn't have anything more fine grained than CC-BY. If you ever get around making the game, drop me a line and I'm sure we can work something out :)
I randomly stumbled upon this and I find it really good!
Thanks :) and I've found some good artists too just by stumbling upon them by accident :D
Very nice tracks! Can't wait for the bandcamp release, great job!
Thanks :) and I also can't wait to have the Bandcamp release out there, and then take a deep breath of relief
tracker goa for life
i so dig the pan visualizer, great track
Thanks :)
This is nice! So glad i found Your channel!
Thanks :)
Fascinating stuff.
Thanks for listening :)

That "space12" sound made me immediately think of Martian Garage Party by Soundburst Productions.
Interesting, I'm not familiar with that track or artist. Maybe I should take a listen :)
Nice, very nice indeed!
Thanks :)
Liked, subscribed, and waiting for the bandcamp release!!
Thanks :) and I'm slowly starting to realise the Bandcamp release is just a few weeks away :o

Thanks for listening :)

Great one !
Thanks!
This is really good!
Thanks :)
super nice looks like very hard to do!
Actually, oldschool trackers aren't that difficult, once you get the hang of it of course (which is true for any tool you might use).
@@pauleye.official using ableton 12 here they make very easy now to make something hehehehe , but old school live 4ever my bro
Tune!
Came here from a DarkTide 40k content creator using your music!
Oh, interesting!
Bad ass track!
Never used Impulse. I went from SC3 to FT2. :)
I started with IT, then went to Jeskola Buzz (never really managed to make much of anything worthwhile in it though). Thanks for listening :)
@@pauleye.official I've heard of Buzz, never used it. Did try Skaletracker for a while, never really liked it. Renoise is awesome though.

@@pauleye.official can definitely vouch for renoise. perfect blend of old school tracker and modern daw.
😎😎😎👏👏👏👍
Будто Astral Projection. Похоже и по стилю и по используемым звукам.

If i ever get the chance to make a game can i use it ? (with credits of course)

@@pauleye.official Sure thing !
Great track! Will it be passible to buy the .it files to listen old school style? Would love that.
Unfortunately, I won't put the IT files up for sale or distribution, ever. Glad you liked the track though :)
Thats unfortunate😢
