I just made these and they came out amazing! All the cookies were gone in one night and my family usually hates my baking lol. This was so easy to follow! Gonna make the cowboy cookies now 😋
In the video I see you use a whole bar of butter (on the pack says 4 Oz which are actually 115 grams)... But you say you are using 60 grams so I'm confused
I love oatmeal cookies! Instead of chocolate chips I add butterscotch chips because that's the way my grandma made them. Either way, a really delicious cookie.
You’re the only person I’ve seen mention this issue with the flour! I literally thought I was going crazy because every time I made cookies, they were so “doughy” as I call it. I never understood why. Now it makes sense because I use measuring cups for the flour lol.
Just made the dough last night and baked this morning. I didnt change the recipe at all. These cookies tast great. By Chinese standards, not very sweet which I like a lot. My husband said these cookies tast better than Dad's cookies. Thanks. I will try more of your recipies.
I just made this and tried baking it after mixing it all (even though you said the dough should be chilled for one hour, just cant wait!); it came out gorgeous and delicious. Crispy and soft in the middle. My son doesn’t like oatmeal cookie but with this, he just can’t resist another bite. Thanks!
Made these again today, second time. Such a straightforward recipe but yet so tasty!! Even those who aren't a fan of oatmeal love these cookies! I baked at 190C for 11 mins.
Adding the salt at the end was a bad call...i used gray celtic sea salt...and too much brown sugar (i used a digital gram scale). 1/2 cup of butter is about 113 grams...the recipe on your website said..like..60 grams? Whoever is working your website might be messing up.
Dear Mr. Preppy Kitchen, I tried this recipe and it took far longer than 8-10 minutes to cook. It was more like 35 minutes! I think this is defective. Please advise soon as the cookies are still in the oven. Best, Karl
I know this is an older video but I just wanted to say for anyone wondering (who's new to this channel): as anything else, THESE WERE AMAZING!! I've tried them with Xylitol and different flour (don't the name in english) and they turned out absolutely DELICIOUS! I love this channel, so far every recipe was nothing but a huge hit and!! the cookies are even better the next day!!! Sending much much love and THANK YOU!!!
Love this! My mom taught me many years ago to add Old Fashioned oats (whole oats) to chocolate chip cookie dough. It's my favorite way to make and eat chocolate chip cookies! And I add walnuts as well. Yummy!!! And John, I love your attention to detail and presentation, but personally I don't bother rolling them in my hand (maybe I'm just lazy - lol). I use a cookie scoop, but I just drop them right from the scoop onto the parchment paper. The tops are nicely rounded and they still come out pretty and super delicious. :) But either way, thanks for sharing your recipe with us - I love, love, love your videos!!
I finally made these yesterday! Idk why I waited so long. Used your exact recipe and they came out perfect 😍👌🏻crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Delicious! Will be making them again. Love your channel ! ❤️ Happy Holidays everyone ❤️
I usually weigh all the ingredients before start mixing. So i go to the recipe on the link. There are some bits that are quite confusing. Firstly, I still don't know if I should use 1/2 cup or 60g of butter. Next, in the recipe saying 200g of light brown sugar. When I come to the video, it says 140g. I guess the recipe should be corrected.
Please check your gram measurements. In your video the brown sugar you say "140 grams" the printed recipe shows 200 grams. I did measure my flour and then measured other ingredients and many of the numbers in the printed recipe do not coincide with the video. Thank you for so many well done videos.
Funny, I made oatmeal cookies this (stormy) morning. Perfect choice, sir. I used raisins instead of chocolate chip, because I recently developed a sensitivity to caffeine (chocolate, coffee, etc); a nightmare for a person from the Pacific Northwest. Anyway, great video as always. Cheers
just made them! they are awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, im keeping this ones for future references, nice texture and flavour, super easy and fast, they were gona as soon as they got a bit colder. I did a tiny bit of cinamom because i love it, next time a tad bit less sugar too but that's totally up to your taste!
If I'm putting chocolate chips on top .. I'm making faces.. I can't help myself .. : ] These look deeelish ! I want to make one with chocolate and one with raisins .. both I will add walnuts.. That's just how I roll.... This recipe does look super yummie ..... THANKS !!!
Just made these, and yum! Did add some walnuts too. Baked a dozen off and had dough left over to make another dozen which I froze. Perfect for when that next craving hits! Thanks for the recipes! Also made your lavender lemon pound cake and that was delicious too!
I’ve just made these and unfortunately I can’t upload pictures to show you but OMG they are a big hit with my husband and his family 😁 thank you so much for the recipe your a fabulous cook and I’m loving it xxx
Question: How come the butter and egg need to be room temperature when mixing in the ingredients, when at the end we have to put it in the fridge? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of using room temp ingredients?
Thank you so much for this. I'm breastfeeding my little one right now and I found out that rolled oats boost milk production, but I'm so burnt out on overnight oats and still have a big container of oats... so I'm gonna make these instead! Confession: I didn't even know that oatmeal and chocolate chips was a thing. Now that I know, these are probably my favorite kind of cookies. I love chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin separately, but both seem to be missing something... I guess you put the oatmeal with the chocolate and you get the best combo, lol.
I scoop, then chill. It’s harder to scoop chilled...it also warms up again, if you scoop afterwards, negating the whole reason you chilled them in the first place (so they don’t spread while baking)
be advised, "whisk", "beat" and "stir" are THREE different things..as my wife just "kindly" let me know when my batch turned out tasty but ugly as can be.
John you are so adorable. I love to watch you bake. so much fun. You are the only American I've seen to admit that cups are not the best way to measure. Trust me i have tried to understand this method and each time i try i get different weights, it's crazy, scales are so much easier and accurate. Us Brits really don's get it, and i've literally been called stupid online for questioning the cup method. So thank you for making it obvious that accurate weights turns out better cakes, and for your video explaining how.

I've baked cookies in a toaster oven. I prefer to use airbake insulated pans but they don't make a toaster oven size, but it was better than NO cookies getting made.

I reckon I would enjoy this, I love ANZAC bickies, which are made of oats, so I’ll more than likely enjoy these bickies too 😊 I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing John making ANZAC Biscuits (we don’t call them cookies because calling them a cookie sounds too childish and a little disrespectful to our soldiers that fought and died for our freedom) to represent Australia and New Zealand (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps = ANZAC). A little history on them, the women and wive’s made these biscuits for our diggers (soldiers in the trenches) in WWI, to make them last the long boat trip to Europe, they made them out of ingredients that didn’t spoil easily, oats being the main ingredient. (However, there’s speculation that isn’t true and it was eaten at home to raise funds for the war). ANZAC day is happening soon too, on the 25th April, Lest We Forget
Has my grandson been talking to you? His mother (my daughter), his older sister & the younger sister have been after me to bake my Chocolate Chip & Walnut Scones. They are really tasty so I guess I’d better bake some soon. 🥰 By the Chocolate Chip/Oatmeal cookies ate one of my favorite cookies!😜

I just watched this one and your other oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe...back to back. ha! you can't go wrong with 2 of the same recipe, Ah Ya Just Can't! =)

Measurements are so confusing in general. Anna Olson has 3 1/2 cups as 520 grams, you would have it as 420 grams. So I decided to go strictly by grams. As I followed the video, you had 1/2 cup of butter and the illustration showed 60 grams. I looked at my 1/2 cup of butter stick and it said 113 grams. What gives?
Flour- 1 cup of flour Baking Soda-- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda Butter- 1/4 of butter Sugar- 65 gram Brown Sugar- 140 grams 1/2 teaspoon of salt 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract Egg 1 Oats Chocolate chips
1 cup flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder Whisk it 1 half cup of butter 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/3 sugar 2/3 brown sugar Mix 1 egg 2 teaspoon vanilla Room temp Add flour 1/2 oats 1 cup of chocolate chips 375 for 8-10min
I don't have a stand mixer, only a hand mixer. I think that you can use a hand mixer for most things...it just might take more time. Sponge cake is the only thing that is a lot more difficult with a hand mixer, imo
Oh, that crunch at the tasting! *swoon* I wonder John, if we could see your take on white chocolate & raspberry cookies, my favourite -? Greetings from London
These were not good, I don't know if there was a miscommunication somewhere between US and UK measurements but they were waaaaay to sugary and didn't cook properly at all for about 20 minutes. They literally just flopped apart after 10 minutes of cooking. You don't specify what kind of flour you used either....
Isn't it beautiful that God decided to leave His throne to be born in flesh as an infant here on earth? He is perfect, righteous, and Holy, yet he was willing to be swaddled and caressed as a weak little infant. Our sinful hands coming in contact with God's perfection like never before. He did that. Then at the end of His time on earth He suffered an absolutely TERRIBLE death for us. The cross was such a dishonorable death and torturous. A death that WE deserve. However, if we have faith in Him and repent of our sins (that means feel broken over our sins, want change, and want to escape sin) God will trade you His perfection for your sin. He took the sin of the world on that cross and suffered though He was innocent. And He offers you salvation into His beautiful kingdom through FAITH. We cannot earn heaven. Everything we do is tainted by sin. Sin goes against God's very nature: Love. Lying goes against love. Rape goes against love. Lust does against love. Hate goes against love. Us humans are constantly sitting in our sin. Even if it be merely by thoughts, God sees it. He is so clean and perfect and we subject Him to seeing our filth. He is completely perfect and Just! More than any faulted human or worldly judge. A good judge wouldn't let a criminal go. He would give them justice. That's why we deserve hell. Yet, He is merciful and gave us a way out of that just conviction we earned. Mercy and grace. Salvation through true faith. What is true faith? Can you love the dark and the light at the same time? You only serve one master. Either sin or Jesus. Sin leads to death and punishment, but Jesus leads to life and salvation. God made the universe. Look at the sky look at the sun and planets. We are able to truly know the God of life! We have this beautiful hope and available gift offered to us by God himself! If you truly repent and have faith, He will give you the Holy Spirit and a new heart with new desires for good! You won't be perfect and you'll still fall while on earth, but the Holy Spirit will lead you down the right path to represent Jesus and share the good news while you are here before going with Him into heaven! Do not try to bribe God with your tainted "good deeds". You need your fine paid. Legally and justly a judge can let you go though you be guilty if your fine is paid. Jesus paid our fine on that cross! All you have to do is accept it! Truly search for that conviction of sin. Ask for that conviction. God will answer. What is stopping you from being sure of your salvation today? Is that thing more important than eternity? God bless!

Delicious recipes as ALWAYS😋🍪👍👌🙌💕💃!!!!!!!
So kind, thank you!
@@PreppyKitchen John, I just finished making them, added some toasted walnuts, and of course they are so DELICIOUS and DELIGHTFUL😋👌💃🙌😉!!!
Those scones sound delicious! Maybe you could make both the scones and this cookie recipe. You can never have too much dessert😜

@@sharonolsen6579 Haha definitely. What types of desserts do you like?
@@ParnellTheChef Oh..that, my friend is an extensive and varied list .. from fancy cheese cake to pecan sandies (dipped in milk of course).... I am an equal opportunity desert lover.. with the exception of the overly sweet .. baklava comes to mind.. not a fan.. or those flavored with rose water, lavender .. etc. OR .. lol.. too much chocolate (migraine issues) .. other than that .. I'm pretty much open. And yourself?
Ok have my boys been talking to you?? This is another one of their favourites 🤗. Thank you John 🤗

Mmmm... Chocolate chip oatmeal cookies are probably my favorite kind of cookies. I bet they're delicious with a little sea salt sprinkled on top!
My dough would never make it into the oven. I'd eat it before the cookies had a chance to bake.
Made this today and my family loved it! So easy to make 💖
This recipe is amazing! I made it for my family and my in-laws and they loved it. Thank you so much 🙏🏻
I just watched this one and your other oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe...back to back. ha! you can't go wrong with 2 of the same recipe, Ah Ya Just Can't! =)
Just made them! Waitimg for them to cool down. Dont have a standmixer or a handmixer (yes I broke it...) so my hand is sore from the workout. They smell like they're worth the calories though 😅

What gives?
This is my first time watching one of your videos and you are awesome! I love your dry humor and your recipe! I am now a subscriber

Can you do something's with the hand mixer please
I don't have a stand mixer, only a hand mixer. I think that you can use a hand mixer for most things...it just might take more time. Sponge cake is the only thing that is a lot more difficult with a hand mixer, imo
You don’t need a mixer! Gadgets are soo common on these types of vids we forget people didn’t always have them
@@davidcibrian548 Very true. My kitchen is very basic. All of the extra things are nice, don't get me wrong, but they are $$$ and take up space
Oh, that crunch at the tasting! *swoon*
I wonder John, if we could see your take on white chocolate & raspberry cookies, my favourite -?
God bless!
