I’m hoping Ovi gets some kind mobility ability like a “double jump” where it jumps once then flaps it’s wings and tail fan to change direction even if slightly and gain some extra height (also all those feathers should give it fall damage resistance just saying). A wall run/jump could also work for it to help get to higher elevation to escape the inevitable vengeance of angry parents coming your way after you take their eggs.
A few unique ideas. Their kicks could stun anything lighter or smaller then itself, or doing more damage then gallimimus with kicks. Like for example. The cassowary can easily disembowel a human with its clawed legs. But a oviraptor is basically a cassowary on crack. With enough stam or diet the Oviraptor could escape from lunges but only a few times. But with this it would surely lose a few feathers, which could effect the speed of the oviraptor. And here are a few good ones that should already (in my opinion) come with the oviraptor - a form of double jump - reduced fall damage
Tbh Ovi is omnivorous, so eggs and terrorizing nests play an occassional role in their diet. I would like an entirely egg addict dino like Ornitholestes. Fast as hell (after all it's suggested they could ran to 43 mph) and agile (maybe using his claws to climb trees to a certain degree) with an egg/hatchling mainly focused diet so that it'll maje the ultimate terror of the nests, difficult to catch

I had suggested oviraptor get mimic (before i got banned from the official discord) and i had seen a lot of other people suggest it as well, i also saw someone suggest that ovi be able to use its tail to “brush away its scent” as it moves in a unique run-crouch that would make it easier to escape angry parents after stealing an egg. Oviraptors are also one of my favorite dinosaur families, i had wanted Oviraptor itself or Anzu in the isle for a long time, I hope they don’t just make it a worse gallimimus. On the topic of it being the only egg eater though, I don’t think it would make sense, eggs are a delicacy in the wild, megalania will probably eat them too, but oviraptor needs to be the best equipped to distract and escape out of the egg eating additions
I’ve been pushing for the mimic transfer on the Isle discord since last June - because without that ability ovi really has no mechanical identity. It would be like releasing pachy without headbutt attacks and only the ability to smash coconuts. Also, I think that other creatures like gali or velo could work as egg thieves if they had slower eating animations at the nest or if only ovi could carry eggs away.
I honestly think the Ovi will end up being an extremely underrated/underappreciated dinosaur in the isle and its nice to see people finally making more content about ovi and if the Isle devs do see this lets hope they get some ideas from it :)

Actually Mimic would be better for nest defence since it could make potential predtators think your a larger creature and could help disuade predators coming to Ovi's best. And instead of Ovi being an egg eater, instead is could be the devouted parent for Omnivorous creatures if Maia is for herbivores
I hope ovi’s are completely silent when crouching, it also would be a good plan for one ovi to distract a parent while the other goes in for an egg steal
The concept of oviraptor having grouse/forest chicken sounds does infact sound fantastic and interesting,maybe mix the sounds of Western Capercaillie and Black Grouse.
I really like the mimic idea for Ovi. Makes it sounds like some kind of cockatoo or something. Oooh just had another idea come to mind. Perhaps instead of it being an egg thief perhaps make it more of a cuckoo bird that lays its eggs in the nests of other dinos. Obviously some mechanic would have to be implemented that gives you debufs if you kill your own babies. This way if an ovi lays an egg in your nest and it hatches you now have too raise it to juvy/subadult even if you don’t want to.
I imagine that ovi will be an ankle breaker, juking dinos and probably have a fast grabbing animation. It could even kick up dirt like a smoke bomb. If galli is gonna steal its ability then its fair if it steal gallis ability.
I always felt they should move the call mimicking from Troodon to Ovi. Ovi could make better use of it I think since it's supposed to be stealthy and egg-raider-y.
Maybe Oviraptor could get an ability where it goes near invisible while crouching, this would allow it to get closer to nests undetected while also not being too overpowered as anyone paying close attention to movement could see the Ovi sneaking towards them. I also agree with a lot of the other comments saying it should get a double jump, climbing and/or a slow fall/fall damage immunity passive.
I do agree that they need to do something like an egg grab to make ovi the best egg stealer. But I don’t mind the idea of the egg diet being more widespread. I think people would play ptera much more if it could eat eggs
I don't know if I've just not noticed it but I rarely see nesting happening. I hope that with the addition of ovi and its whole egg thief gameplay that they give more incentive to nest. Maybe once the perk system is incorporated, by nesting or being hatched you gain passive perks. Say you hatch a player, maybe the parent could have a perk that slightly increases damage with an offspring in the party, called it "parental instinct" or something. Maybe the offspring could get a perk like "well cared for" that slightly increases their max HP if born and not just spawned in.

If they want it to be part of the gameplay loop for dinosaurs like ovi they should definitely incorporate incentives to doing it outside of just growing your pack size. It would also help gameplay after being fully grown outside of finding the biggest thing you can and seeing if you can kill it

The worst thing about Ovi right now is that most people I've seen don't nest. Atm there is no incentive to nest or to start as an egg, so Ovi's would struggle to find the one or two people on a whole server nesting. I hope they add something to make nesting more of an incentive maybe like if the parents feed the child with a perfect diet the baby would grow up having a permeant boost to their stats or something like that.

To make nest raiding easier ovi should have some sort of player deterrent. Like you said in the video, how is an ovi supposed to break into a herds nesting ground and steal an egg. Maybe add certain plants that only oviraptor is able to coat itself in. These plants emit a foul smell and nesting players take damage overtime as they smell it, making it easier to steal eggs. To balance this, carnivores and certain herbivores will be immune to thus scent and carnivores can also smell where an oviraptor coated in this scent is. Make ovi able to wash away this scent by jumping into water and this seems like a perfect mechanic.
We gotta remember that the Isle is not just a dino sim. They're not going for complete accuracy, There's a story there. Each dino developed characteristics that they wouldn't have in reality because they are biological experiments. the results of which having vast unforeseen affects. For Gallis, specifically the featherless kind as mentioned in its info sheet, surprisingly became more omnivorous than expected, mostly with egg eating. Galli won't steal Ovi's thunder, not at all. Galli can eat eggs, but they most likely won't stick to a pure-egg diet as that makes quick enemies of dinos. Ovi will have a kit around egg-stealing, I just know it.
Did some research about why gallimimus eat eggs. This is from the website i found "Gallimimus lived in a semi-arid landscape with only scattered vegetation. In this environment the Gallimimus diet might include fruit and seeds, insects, lizards and dinosaur eggs. Even baby dinosaurs may have been on the menu". this isnt to prove you wrong or anything. but since the isle clearly arent going the egg thief route for it, then people got to know what the real gallimimus did. for me personally, realism in games like this are very important. not a fan of galli not having eggs on its diet. but to be fair, no one did nest anyway. But for those who dont know that galli stole eggs too, here you go
I have a cool idea for any fast-forest navigating dinosaur in the future. Whenever you use the scent, your screen zooms out farther than you would normally be able to, and until your scent compass goes away you have an increased viewing range/FOV. Maybe even a second bar appears under the scent (I’m imagining it being a purple hue) as a visual locator, with unique icons displaying steep cliffs/dropoffs, logs, (maybe) water, and of course other dinosaurs at a limited range.

An idea would be that it’s fall speed is slowed and you could slowly change direction using all those feathers. Maybe holding the Space Bar could cause the gliding effect so if you fell you would have to act fast if you didn’t want to take damage.
I think oviraptor should have epic maneuverabilityto be able to dodge incoming parents. Just imagine when they get off the nest to cool it off orcswap to get food it runs in and is able to quickly be able to move any direction away
I like the idea of mimic for ovi but I don’t see how it would work 🤷♀️ UNLESS!! Give ovi the ability to mimic F call and also give it the ability to speak! To other species by mimicking there F calls. But! Let’s go further than that! Let’s say a ovi mimics a teno and that tenos in game name is Michael! When that ovi goes to speak there name will appear as michael to the other tenos! Which allows the ovi to fool! The other parent to leave the nest! And allowing the ovi to secure those sweet delicious eggs.

I always thought that it would be cool if it was able to find and eat different types of mushrooms, and gain temporary buffs based off of mushrooms it eats. Even ones other dinos find toxic.
nice video as always but I think mimmick isn't good in the isle for any playables, because people don't trust its own species except they use chat, so except mimmicking includes the ability to "join" the chat of the species you are mimmicking I think it wont work
I'm far more excited for Herrera, a much better playable of all time hands down especially if they do the assassin drop correctly. I can just see myself positioning in a tree for someone to come get some water or eat from a corpse, just dive bomb on their asses and scare the shit out of em lol, on top of that it'll be a great human harasser since its nearly as tall as one haha. Man, I'mma love Herrera so much, I hope they do it justice or I'mma cry.
I think troodon would be better at mimicking because they have the largest brain to body ratio of any dinosaur discovered meaning it was most likely very intelligent. (The geniuses of the dinosaurs)

Oviraptor looks like it should be able to eat a veriety of things. Scavenging, eating tough plants. But its fave food was hard foods like seeds, nuts, clams, and EGGS! Eating pretty much everything would be so viable.
I think I I should have an ability to slow down its descent in case it’s falling like a chicken mixed with gallies ability . This could open up other areas of the map to dangerous for other creatures of its size but fine for it as it can survive higher falls. Also mimicrywould work better in it then Troodon as omnivores and herbivores work better with mimicry then carnivores because the whole point of a carnivore during a hunt is to not to alert prey unless you have the speed and stamina to keep up, but with omnivores and herbivores you can just mimic a larger animal and make a person want to avoid the area. Since carnos always are roaring with out being seen it would be pretty easy to replicate as a ovi.

Eating eggs is not something that's unique to either Oviraptor or Gallimimus so to set the former apart it should be THE best at egg hunting, hell give it a mechanic where it can nab eggs from a nest and carry them away, mostly because it would be funny to see an Oviraptor with it's arms and beak full of eggs scrambling away from two pissed off parents chasing it
Honestly I thought it would make sense to give ovi climbing, and maybe make it better than Herrera's. Then also add a glide mechanic or at least slow-fall mechanic using it's feathers. It would be cool to make it specialize in capturing ptera eggs or even hunting adults. It would also have a really good jump. These mobility systems can also help it sneak up on other nests by jumping from a tree on the nest. Then they could grab an egg and leave before being apprehended.
I think ovi could use their mimic to atract carnivores to the nests forcing the parents to protect the nest or run allowing ovi to eat some delicious eggs!
Sad story..nobody nests enough. Either unfortunate death, betrayal, canablimsn, or once packed up they focus on a KoS mentality.. the only thing that makes sense is ovi is able to eat other supplements with eggs being the most beneficial to it..

It's absolute TORTURE they haven't given us Oviraptor yet. I'm gonna main it so much. Until then I'll have to just play beipi... if we ever get that in my lifetime >_> I agree if we can't have egg thievery as a cool part of being Ovi, mimic could it be it, why not?

The problem with relaying heavily on eggs for a dinos gameplay/diet is that the dino becomes reliant on other players actually performing the nesting mechanic to begin with which in turn could really hurt ovi's gameplay experience. Imo they would need to seriously work on nesting before implementing egg eaters and the like, just a thought.
I actually would've preferred an oviraptor that did not steal eggs and buffed the speed of incubation but also adds a chance to fail egg incubation on one egg if an eggs fails at incubation stage ovi eats it and it makes it so it gives nutrition and gives a lot of food but also makes ovi give a lot more food to predators

Okey, I agree, ovi should be the only egg thief, I agree that herbies won't abandon their nests (carnivores might do that before the eggs hatch), but even with mimics (idk if that would be a good idea) and whatever you give him, that won't change the fact that only those are nesting that are bored and has a friend to nest with.

The benefits have to be worth it, but not too OP, also it has to be fun and also well implemented (the nesting mechanism rn in update 6 is buggy). Also, server restarts doesn't help nesting either. So it requires a TON of effort (especially for carnivores), really need to be well balanced and well implemented if Ovi wants to be viable.

To make nest raiding easier ovi should have some sort of player deterrent. Like you said in the video, how is an ovi supposed to break into a herds nesting ground and steal an egg. Maybe add certain plants that only oviraptor is able to coat itself in. These plants emit a foul smell and nesting players take damage overtime as they smell it, making it easier to steal eggs. To balance this, carnivores and certain herbivores will be immune to thus scent and carnivores can also smell where an oviraptor coated in this scent is. Make ovi able to wash away this scent by jumping into water and this seems like a perfect mechanic.

We gotta remember that the Isle is not just a dino sim. They're not going for complete accuracy, There's a story there. Each dino developed characteristics that they wouldn't have in reality because they are biological experiments. the results of which having vast unforeseen affects. For Gallis, specifically the featherless kind as mentioned in its info sheet, surprisingly became more omnivorous than expected, mostly with egg eating.
Galli won't steal Ovi's thunder, not at all. Galli can eat eggs, but they most likely won't stick to a pure-egg diet as that makes quick enemies of dinos. Ovi will have a kit around egg-stealing, I just know it.

Did some research about why gallimimus eat eggs. This is from the website i found "Gallimimus lived in a semi-arid landscape with only scattered vegetation. In this environment the Gallimimus diet might include fruit and seeds, insects, lizards and dinosaur eggs. Even baby dinosaurs may have been on the menu". this isnt to prove you wrong or anything. but since the isle clearly arent going the egg thief route for it, then people got to know what the real gallimimus did. for me personally, realism in games like this are very important. not a fan of galli not having eggs on its diet. but to be fair, no one did nest anyway. But for those who dont know that galli stole eggs too, here you go

I have a cool idea for any fast-forest navigating dinosaur in the future. Whenever you use the scent, your screen zooms out farther than you would normally be able to, and until your scent compass goes away you have an increased viewing range/FOV. Maybe even a second bar appears under the scent (I’m imagining it being a purple hue) as a visual locator, with unique icons displaying steep cliffs/dropoffs, logs, (maybe) water, and of course other dinosaurs at a limited range.

An idea would be that it’s fall speed is slowed and you could slowly change direction using all those feathers. Maybe holding the Space Bar could cause the gliding effect so if you fell you would have to act fast if you didn’t want to take damage.

I think oviraptor should have epic maneuverabilityto be able to dodge incoming parents. Just imagine when they get off the nest to cool it off orcswap to get food it runs in and is able to quickly be able to move any direction away

I like the idea of mimic for ovi but I don’t see how it would work 🤷♀️ UNLESS!! Give ovi the ability to mimic F call and also give it the ability to speak! To other species by mimicking there F calls. But! Let’s go further than that! Let’s say a ovi mimics a teno and that tenos in game name is Michael! When that ovi goes to speak there name will appear as michael to the other tenos! Which allows the ovi to fool! The other parent to leave the nest! And allowing the ovi to secure those sweet delicious eggs.
@@hpjive its really that simple tbh, the four main calls 1234 will be for ovi specifically, l while F call can mimic whatever its closest too/ looking at, or have the ability to cycle through different F calls but while thats efficient it seems convoluted, same thing with it being able to talk to other dinos like would ovi just be able to switch chats XD like its some kind of diplomat dino that can speak with everyone . . . Ngl Oviraptor the Negotiator sounds pretty rad
I always thought that it would be cool if it was able to find and eat different types of mushrooms, and gain temporary buffs based off of mushrooms it eats. Even ones other dinos find toxic.

nice video as always but I think mimmick isn't good in the isle for any playables, because people don't trust its own species except they use chat, so except mimmicking includes the ability to "join" the chat of the species you are mimmicking I think it wont work

Personally I like the idea of giving both Ovi and Troodon mimic with Ovis being more advanced.
I think troodon would be better at mimicking because they have the largest brain to body ratio of any dinosaur discovered meaning it was most likely very intelligent. (The geniuses of the dinosaurs)

Oviraptor looks like it should be able to eat a veriety of things. Scavenging, eating tough plants. But its fave food was hard foods like seeds, nuts, clams, and EGGS! Eating pretty much everything would be so viable.

I think I I should have an ability to slow down its descent in case it’s falling like a chicken mixed with gallies ability . This could open up other areas of the map to dangerous for other creatures of its size but fine for it as it can survive higher falls. Also mimicrywould work better in it then Troodon as omnivores and herbivores work better with mimicry then carnivores because the whole point of a carnivore during a hunt is to not to alert prey unless you have the speed and stamina to keep up, but with omnivores and herbivores you can just mimic a larger animal and make a person want to avoid the area. Since carnos always are roaring with out being seen it would be pretty easy to replicate as a ovi.

Eating eggs is not something that's unique to either Oviraptor or Gallimimus so to set the former apart it should be THE best at egg hunting, hell give it a mechanic where it can nab eggs from a nest and carry them away, mostly because it would be funny to see an Oviraptor with it's arms and beak full of eggs scrambling away from two pissed off parents chasing it

Honestly I thought it would make sense to give ovi climbing, and maybe make it better than Herrera's. Then also add a glide mechanic or at least slow-fall mechanic using it's feathers. It would be cool to make it specialize in capturing ptera eggs or even hunting adults. It would also have a really good jump. These mobility systems can also help it sneak up on other nests by jumping from a tree on the nest. Then they could grab an egg and leave before being apprehended.

I think ovi could use their mimic to atract carnivores to the nests forcing the parents to protect the nest or run allowing ovi to eat some delicious eggs!
Sad story..nobody nests enough. Either unfortunate death, betrayal, canablimsn, or once packed up they focus on a KoS mentality.. the only thing that makes sense is ovi is able to eat other supplements with eggs being the most beneficial to it..
Hopefully by then, the devs add something to encourage nesting.

The problem with relaying heavily on eggs for a dinos gameplay/diet is that the dino becomes reliant on other players actually performing the nesting mechanic to begin with which in turn could really hurt ovi's gameplay experience. Imo they would need to seriously work on nesting before implementing egg eaters and the like, just a thought.
yeah i agree,unless ovi doesnt NEED eggs for its diet,but instead it gives it an overrall boost,so it can be less reliant on other players
I actually would've preferred an oviraptor that did not steal eggs and buffed the speed of incubation but also adds a chance to fail egg incubation on one egg if an eggs fails at incubation stage ovi eats it and it makes it so it gives nutrition and gives a lot of food but also makes ovi give a lot more food to predators

Okey, I agree, ovi should be the only egg thief, I agree that herbies won't abandon their nests (carnivores might do that before the eggs hatch), but even with mimics (idk if that would be a good idea) and whatever you give him, that won't change the fact that only those are nesting that are bored and has a friend to nest with.
at the point ovi is in,there will be incentives to nest,like perks and elders,and hopefully other things as well(i hope)

The benefits have to be worth it, but not too OP, also it has to be fun and also well implemented (the nesting mechanism rn in update 6 is buggy).
Also, server restarts doesn't help nesting either. So it requires a TON of effort (especially for carnivores), really need to be well balanced and well implemented if Ovi wants to be viable.

Unless they give very good incentives to nest, I think ovi would be better as a nest raider AI, no shade to the creature, i just don’t see a point to a playable that would otherwise starve and feel like a small gali.
