They could not run, bite, or hunt as well, compared to things like T-rexes or large scaled therapods, when on land. They would only get lucky grabbing small dinosaurs. Edit: The one advantageous thing was their size. No average predator was going to take it down that easily.

Spino to me definitely seems to be a grappler/boxer. It should have a weak bite (for an apex), with it's claws being the main damage dealers. Attacking it head on would be akin to suicide for all but other apexes (and even then it'll still be risky), but be more vulnerable on the flanks due to a poor turn radius with it's sail causing drag. And one disadvantage to relying on it's arms for damage is range. Spino long neck and head makes it easy to hit its head while staying away from the claws and means a spino needs to get close in order to be deadly. This can be seen in the anky's concept art, where an overly aggressive spino gets whacked before it can close the distance. Combine that with a slow run speed and you got a dino that can scrap with and dispatch most things if it can get close, but is easily avoided if seen by prey or punished if caught slacking by other apexes and semi apexes like seen with anky.

it kinda seems like Rex and Spino as adults are gonna be direct counters to one another. The T.rex I think overall is gonna have more power, but Spino seems to have higher combat endurance with its health pool. One built more for offense, one more for defense, so it just comes down to whose got more skill in combat. Honestly I hope they stick to that idea since I think that would be a great way to keep both in check
I'm hoping that when more large dinosaurs release, they buff Deino to be more in line with its RL counterpart and make it a true apex. The battles for river and lake supremacy between Spino and Deino would be quite the spectacle.
As someone who genuinely prefers more paleo depictions of dinosaurs, of course, I gravitate towards a realistic Spinosaurus but they could've stylized it in a way that doesn't detract from the existing traits it has. Furthermore, the existence of its paddle tail could've been altered into something truly unique for Spinosaurus, but the model is said and done. Evrima Spinosaurus comes off a rehash an old idea that people like, which is unfortunate because a slightly stylized realistic Spinosaurus could've done the exact same job.
I agree. It just feels like the devs are (once again) leeching off of the JP fanbase by just making JP spino. They're not even putting a unique twist on it or reinterpreting how the real spino is, they're literally just making JP spino. Something we've had for over two decades now. Nothing new.

Yeah, I really feel like they could have incorporated the newer designs while keeping with the old style. Kinda like what they did with Dilo. It's scientifically accurate, but it still has the jp style venom.
I think Spino's damage output wouldn't be as high as a Rex or a Giga's to balance out it's higher hp. And in a screenshot we saw that Rex was 9 tons and had 900n basebite force so if they keep it bigger than the other two apexes I'd imagine Spino would be around 10 tons, I think it's bite should be pretty weak at 200-250 since that's not even it's main weapon and it's claw swipe I think it should be 300 per hand, so 600 in total. Tho Rex is getting a bunch of abilities that probably do way more damage than it's regular bite so I'd imagine Spino and Giga would get similar stuff, tho Giga's abilities would probably focus more on bleed with Spino being in a middle ground in terms of it's bleed and damage output.
There's more to evrima than bleed and damage. I'm hoping the spino has some rlly impressive grappling abilities to just ragdoll other apexes. Rex ain't doing much damage when his face is in the dirt
That was in legacy where the damage scalated with the size but in evrima it doesnt so it should be like 450 per bite and claws total damage should be 800/700
As a spino fan I'm always amazed on how people always make spino like the strongest dino in the game( It's not very effective at all in fighting anything over like 1-3 Tons)

exactly, spino should be the best in swamps, lakes and shorelines, and rex should be the best inland. if either catches the other in their specific area, then the winner should be the one in the environment it's meant to be in.
I'm excited for it too. I don't imagine spinos dmg output is gonna be THAT high though considering the type of mouth it has. Most of its dmg is prolly gonna come from its claws with a mix of grappling. The amount of hp it will have will likely be monstrous so it should be riding high once it hits it's max. We know its likely gonna be the last semi to be added so there is a lot of room for theory and speculation
I think maybe there should be an additional buff system for predator predation. Most predators don't eat one another. Predators are walking disease pouches. It's a major risk. But that doesn't stop lions from killing hyenas, or vice versa. Maybe instead of providing a diet incentive to kill other high tier predators, they add in an addition buff system that encourages predators to thin one another out like they normally would over territory/prey disputes that doesn't require eating them. Make it so that if a Barry kills a Spino, they get a temporary buff in some respect to provide incentive for them to cull baby spinos, but keep them off the diet to encourage more realistic play, as it's unlikely they'd eat each other with the risk of disease/parasitic infection. Edit to add: this would also put more weight into the scavenger class of animals. A barry has incentive to kill a young spino, but it wont eat them. Meanwhile scavenger animals that *can* eat the dead spino are encouraged to play in a realistic way in which smaller scavenging animals follow larger or apex predators for a chance at meals/leftovers from fights. This also means that the dead creature isn't going to waste, it's just providing for a different ecological niche while still benefitting the creature that took the biggest risks in the biggest ways (if the buff systems are balanced well).
spino seems super cool, but i feel lke it should be around the same strenght as deino (the duck, not the croc) cuz cmon how cool would it be if the concept of them just throwing hands was ingame, wouldnt need biting or tail riding just straight hands
I dont understand underestimation of the real Spinosaurus. Maybe it wasnt a monster like in Jurassic Park 3, but it was still a huge dinosaur, potentially the largest, and certainly the longest. It weighed over 7 tons, which is more than Deinocheirus. He still had large arms with claws, and even his jaw, although it could not break bones like Trex, was still strong. It was truly an apex As for Evrima, a honestly realistic Spinosaurus would be easier to balance. Im not saying that I would prefer it. It wouldnt even fit in with the rest of the dinosaurs, most of which are not realistic. Lets just wait until they add him. Maybe it will happen before 2030 :D
Actually Spinosaurus had a strong enough bite to break bones, not nearly as much as Tyrannosaurus but more than its mid size relatives that were still bone breakers.

Its wasnt apex. Carcharadontosaurus was apex and spinosaurus wasnt build for heavy combat. Plus his arns wasnt long enough to do really harm a large apex theropod. Its bite force only about 1 tons so theres no point of making it powerful as heavy rank apexes
I would think as spino as an elephant seal, confined to the coast and strong but slow, and for rex, equally as slow if not a bit slower,but just able to push spino around.Since the rivers are a tad to small for deino at the moment.And for the bary part,I believe that bary and spino should have a symbiotic relationship. 4:44 i kind of want a mix, like Spino that normaly eats fish and is pretty chill but can still kick ass. i think it would ne kind off a cool neash since i dont think any carnivor in the Isle has that. The closes exeple irl would be probebly bear. unless you provoke it bear most of the time wount bother you but once you provoke it all hell breaks loose. Maybe if they make it strong atleast make it slow or something just so it doesnt over power everything.
3:09 I think that the spinosaurids should have different dietary preferences and hunting styles. Like they can eat different kinds of fish to fill their diet and prevent competition allowing them to coexist in the same environment, whilst also having different hunting styles. Like suchomimus would be more adapted to hunting by the shore and would be more equipped for also going after prey on land (due to the fact it had lighter bones than many other spinosaurids which makes many believe it was better adapted for hunting like a heron) whilst still being a faster swimmer than most land based playables. Basically niche partitioning, they have different options for their diets and slightly different hunting styles to reduce competition between them, but that’s just my idea
Spino is my favorite dinosaur because of how wildly strange it is. I love its little dumb legs and its salamander like tail. But that being said i also do love the jp 3 spino and have always loved how it mauled the rex in that movie. I am not quite happy with the design though. The face is absolutely gorgeous and I love it but the tail... I'd love it to be more accurate to the animal. The salamander like tail is such an iconic part of it, ( and btw pot's spoons do not have the right tail shape either). I would love it to have that paddle look on it. It would really separate it from its kin as the others do not have similar tails. Getting just smacked by a tail that wide should hurt like hell. It's muscle, it's strong and enforced by fucking bones. And like it looks like they did take it in to consideration as it's not quite as wimpy as the tails on others, they could just increase the ridge they already have. A tiny bit, and I would be infinitely happier about it. I should actually mess with the image and see how it would look with the changes I wish for.
I don't really like it. Just feels like another attempt at leaching from JP like they did with their raptor. Which... I guess is fine if you want to consider it a JP game... But I'd rather have something unique instead of a 'legally distinct' enough copy of something we'd had for the past 2 decades.

We don't use the upright lizard rex from a century ago, and yet we still have unique interpretations of it.
I think the roster would benefit if spino wasnt in it, making deino the apex of the water, but not the strongest semiaquatic (its not gonna happen) Also when spino comes, it should be the smallest carnivore apex, trading off power for mobility in the water
I think the Rexes will need to be slow to go with that bite force, if it has any speed then there is no point in playing much else for fun. The Spino looks like it will be agile in the concept, I'm thinking make its water drain fast OR give it a moisture meter, force it to keep close to water or it will dry out and take damage. This way we can put fish or AI in the ocean and have Spinos dominate the beaches (and larger rivers). Give it the glorious JP experience!!
The Isle being The Isle I would have wanted a bit of a mix, giving it all the features of the actual Spinosaurus, but with the size and heft of this model. Tapewing actually made a Spinosaurus artwok that pretty much encapsulates what I would want from Spinosaurus in this game. Making the sail be twice the size of that flimsy little thing on the Evrima Spino.
Spinosaurus is my fav dinosaur ever. When I was a kid I saw the Jurassic park rendition of what a Spino looks like and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Don't get me wrong the "Evrimafied" Spino looks way cooler than the PoT, but I think it would be better for the game if they went with a realistic version. An apex like Spino could swim down narrow rivers and kill a deino that had nowhere to run/hide but in a lake such as water access, highlands, north lake etc, the Deino could use its superior 02, water vision to evade the Spino. as a consequence drinking from rivers would be safer as if a Spino occupies the area you could see his "sail" out of water in shallow rivers. and Deinos living in narrow rivers would have to run the risk of a spino coming at them from one direction and they cant get by without a fight or they have to try to run on land down the waterfall in which case the Spino would be faster on land and could catch up. (now ofc this is just he larper in me hoping for some sort of balance when in reality isle players will choose to run around in mixpacks of 10+ players as a rolling deathball.)
Similar to legacy, I’ve always found each apex carni kind has their own category they triumph in over the others. Rex always has been the big damage numbers, outdoing the other two by quite a bit, spinos always had the largest health pool, and Giga being superior in bleed and speed. I would honestly enjoy if this concept of it was brought to legacy, as each having their own advantages, even if it wasn’t intentional
Or the Rex and spino will not have loads of stam and the giga will be stam built and the Rex and spino will take a bit of time to get up to max speed and the giga won’t

Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of The Isle's designs BUT when limited to them this Spino certainly fits in. I see Spino as something akin to an all terrain vehicle, something you just can't really get away from if it chooses to pursue you. I think the ultimate crux to Spino is organized play. Just like the PoT Spino, The Isle Spino is just going to be able to escape any unfavorable situation provided its not out in the middle of nowhere.
Basically spinosaurus is a near unstoppable force, but it is extremely easy to avoid in the first place. It is very loud and you can smell it from far away. Basically just what I assume most of the Apexes will be like, very conspicuous
You forget that cera’s face tank deinos everyday most isle players like getting into fights and being cheeky, and want to be the apex destroyer, most players are not patient and cautious lol
I really like this and I can’t wait for this game’s development. Always wanted a game like this growing up so I’m late 2016 when I got whiff of this game it’s all I wanted and once I got it. It hasn’t really disappeared and now with the new updates in development again it’s just gonna get better and better
I actually hate Path of titans But in fact the dinosaurs in that game are very scientifically realistic. But in the isle It has nothing to do with reality.
I would love to see Isle giving their take on the realistic spino however gameplay wise I cant see that being anything interesting if it were to follow the path as a piscivore so id rather like to see the currently planned spino for Isle instead as it looks hella badass and is probably a hell of alot more fun to play aswell.
Finally a Spino with a Goregous Design and a Thanos level Aura and strength. In my opinion, spinosaurus is an alright design, but it could've been so much better. I am someone who likes realistic designs, but Path of Titans design personally doesn't work for a ingame Meta for the Isle. I feel like keeping the current design, but making the sail bigger, slightly shrinking the mouth so it doesn't look as bulky, and adding that paddle tail could've fixed it for me. Because this design, to me, looks bland and basic. Its spinosaurus, but not spinosaurus enough. The Concept Art could've shown some fishing or swimming behaviour, but that's in the past now as well. I may not play The Isle Anymore, but I feel like adding my own imput would be nice.

As a Spino fan, I feel like it shouldn’t easily beat rex and Giga, the Spinosaurus shouldn’t be able to outdamage Rex or outbleed Giga. But it should win the fight if it has water to use at it’s disposal. It would just be kinda boring if Spinosaurus just overpowered Rex to pander to JP3 fans. Apex fights should be close but Rex should be the damage based brawler. Spinosaurus should really use water 24/7 as a massive advantage.
I would love to see evrima Spinosauru concept design. Especially The isle is Connected with Primal Carnage and in The Isle and in Primal Carnage people are experimenting on dinosaurs. They arent natural so.
I think to balance it out, Spino should be slower than Rex, Giga, Acro on land. You can't have a super predator dominating both enviorments. The sheer size, especially with the sail would make it difficult for spino to sneek up on anything too.
I like suchomimus waaay more, because spino's spine is umasking him too much underwater. I like my slick submarine predator being invisible most of the time.

Yeah, I really feel like they could have incorporated the newer designs while keeping with the old style. Kinda like what they did with Dilo. It's scientifically accurate, but it still has the jp style venom.

I think Spino's damage output wouldn't be as high as a Rex or a Giga's to balance out it's higher hp. And in a screenshot we saw that Rex was 9 tons and had 900n basebite force so if they keep it bigger than the other two apexes I'd imagine Spino would be around 10 tons, I think it's bite should be pretty weak at 200-250 since that's not even it's main weapon and it's claw swipe I think it should be 300 per hand, so 600 in total. Tho Rex is getting a bunch of abilities that probably do way more damage than it's regular bite so I'd imagine Spino and Giga would get similar stuff, tho Giga's abilities would probably focus more on bleed with Spino being in a middle ground in terms of it's bleed and damage output.

There's more to evrima than bleed and damage. I'm hoping the spino has some rlly impressive grappling abilities to just ragdoll other apexes. Rex ain't doing much damage when his face is in the dirt
That was in legacy where the damage scalated with the size but in evrima it doesnt so it should be like 450 per bite and claws total damage should be 800/700
As a spino fan I'm always amazed on how people always make spino like the strongest dino in the game( It's not very effective at all in fighting anything over like 1-3 Tons)

I'm excited for it too. I don't imagine spinos dmg output is gonna be THAT high though considering the type of mouth it has. Most of its dmg is prolly gonna come from its claws with a mix of grappling. The amount of hp it will have will likely be monstrous so it should be riding high once it hits it's max. We know its likely gonna be the last semi to be added so there is a lot of room for theory and speculation

I think maybe there should be an additional buff system for predator predation.
Most predators don't eat one another. Predators are walking disease pouches. It's a major risk. But that doesn't stop lions from killing hyenas, or vice versa.
Maybe instead of providing a diet incentive to kill other high tier predators, they add in an addition buff system that encourages predators to thin one another out like they normally would over territory/prey disputes that doesn't require eating them.
Make it so that if a Barry kills a Spino, they get a temporary buff in some respect to provide incentive for them to cull baby spinos, but keep them off the diet to encourage more realistic play, as it's unlikely they'd eat each other with the risk of disease/parasitic infection.
Edit to add: this would also put more weight into the scavenger class of animals. A barry has incentive to kill a young spino, but it wont eat them. Meanwhile scavenger animals that *can* eat the dead spino are encouraged to play in a realistic way in which smaller scavenging animals follow larger or apex predators for a chance at meals/leftovers from fights. This also means that the dead creature isn't going to waste, it's just providing for a different ecological niche while still benefitting the creature that took the biggest risks in the biggest ways (if the buff systems are balanced well).

I dont understand underestimation of the real Spinosaurus. Maybe it wasnt a monster like in Jurassic Park 3, but it was still a huge dinosaur, potentially the largest, and certainly the longest. It weighed over 7 tons, which is more than Deinocheirus. He still had large arms with claws, and even his jaw, although it could not break bones like Trex, was still strong. It was truly an apex
As for Evrima, a honestly realistic Spinosaurus would be easier to balance. Im not saying that I would prefer it. It wouldnt even fit in with the rest of the dinosaurs, most of which are not realistic. Lets just wait until they add him. Maybe it will happen before 2030 :D
Actually Spinosaurus had a strong enough bite to break bones, not nearly as much as Tyrannosaurus but more than its mid size relatives that were still bone breakers.

Its wasnt apex. Carcharadontosaurus was apex and spinosaurus wasnt build for heavy combat. Plus his arns wasnt long enough to do really harm a large apex theropod. Its bite force only about 1 tons so theres no point of making it powerful as heavy rank apexes
I would think as spino as an elephant seal, confined to the coast and strong but slow, and for rex, equally as slow if not a bit slower,but just able to push spino around.Since the rivers are a tad to small for deino at the moment.And for the bary part,I believe that bary and spino should have a symbiotic relationship. 3:09 I think that the spinosaurids should have different dietary preferences and hunting styles. Like they can eat different kinds of fish to fill their diet and prevent competition allowing them to coexist in the same environment, whilst also having different hunting styles. Like suchomimus would be more adapted to hunting by the shore and would be more equipped for also going after prey on land (due to the fact it had lighter bones than many other spinosaurids which makes many believe it was better adapted for hunting like a heron) whilst still being a faster swimmer than most land based playables. Basically niche partitioning, they have different options for their diets and slightly different hunting styles to reduce competition between them, but that’s just my idea

The legacy spino looks nice. Evrima's version is like a bipedal crocodile with a spinal sail.
Spino is my favorite dinosaur because of how wildly strange it is. I love its little dumb legs and its salamander like tail. But that being said i also do love the jp 3 spino and have always loved how it mauled the rex in that movie.
I am not quite happy with the design though. The face is absolutely gorgeous and I love it but the tail... I'd love it to be more accurate to the animal. The salamander like tail is such an iconic part of it, ( and btw pot's spoons do not have the right tail shape either). I would love it to have that paddle look on it. It would really separate it from its kin as the others do not have similar tails. Getting just smacked by a tail that wide should hurt like hell. It's muscle, it's strong and enforced by fucking bones. And like it looks like they did take it in to consideration as it's not quite as wimpy as the tails on others, they could just increase the ridge they already have. A tiny bit, and I would be infinitely happier about it. I should actually mess with the image and see how it would look with the changes I wish for.
I don't really like it. Just feels like another attempt at leaching from JP like they did with their raptor. Which... I guess is fine if you want to consider it a JP game... But I'd rather have something unique instead of a 'legally distinct' enough copy of something we'd had for the past 2 decades.

I think the roster would benefit if spino wasnt in it, making deino the apex of the water, but not the strongest semiaquatic (its not gonna happen)
Also when spino comes, it should be the smallest carnivore apex, trading off power for mobility in the water
I think the Rexes will need to be slow to go with that bite force, if it has any speed then there is no point in playing much else for fun. The Spino looks like it will be agile in the concept, I'm thinking make its water drain fast OR give it a moisture meter, force it to keep close to water or it will dry out and take damage. This way we can put fish or AI in the ocean and have Spinos dominate the beaches (and larger rivers). Give it the glorious JP experience!!
The Isle being The Isle I would have wanted a bit of a mix, giving it all the features of the actual Spinosaurus, but with the size and heft of this model.
Tapewing actually made a Spinosaurus artwok that pretty much encapsulates what I would want from Spinosaurus in this game.
Making the sail be twice the size of that flimsy little thing on the Evrima Spino.
I love the Evrima-fied Spinosaurus, but I think it could still use a healthy dose of the paddle-like tail and nearly quadrupedal posture
I think the balance around this dinosaur is gonna be a nightmare to deal with it.
Spinosaurus is my fav dinosaur ever. When I was a kid I saw the Jurassic park rendition of what a Spino looks like and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Don't get me wrong the "Evrimafied" Spino looks way cooler than the PoT, but I think it would be better for the game if they went with a realistic version. An apex like Spino could swim down narrow rivers and kill a deino that had nowhere to run/hide but in a lake such as water access, highlands, north lake etc, the Deino could use its superior 02, water vision to evade the Spino. as a consequence drinking from rivers would be safer as if a Spino occupies the area you could see his "sail" out of water in shallow rivers. and Deinos living in narrow rivers would have to run the risk of a spino coming at them from one direction and they cant get by without a fight or they have to try to run on land down the waterfall in which case the Spino would be faster on land and could catch up. (now ofc this is just he larper in me hoping for some sort of balance when in reality isle players will choose to run around in mixpacks of 10+ players as a rolling deathball.)

Similar to legacy, I’ve always found each apex carni kind has their own category they triumph in over the others. Rex always has been the big damage numbers, outdoing the other two by quite a bit, spinos always had the largest health pool, and Giga being superior in bleed and speed. I would honestly enjoy if this concept of it was brought to legacy, as each having their own advantages, even if it wasn’t intentional

The difference between the isles art team and its gameplay team are so great one could think they arent even working on the same game
Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of The Isle's designs BUT when limited to them this Spino certainly fits in. I see Spino as something akin to an all terrain vehicle, something you just can't really get away from if it chooses to pursue you. I think the ultimate crux to Spino is organized play. Just like the PoT Spino, The Isle Spino is just going to be able to escape any unfavorable situation provided its not out in the middle of nowhere.

Basically spinosaurus is a near unstoppable force, but it is extremely easy to avoid in the first place. It is very loud and you can smell it from far away. Basically just what I assume most of the Apexes will be like, very conspicuous

I really like this and I can’t wait for this game’s development. Always wanted a game like this growing up so I’m late 2016 when I got whiff of this game it’s all I wanted and once I got it. It hasn’t really disappeared and now with the new updates in development again it’s just gonna get better and better

I would love to see Isle giving their take on the realistic spino however gameplay wise I cant see that being anything interesting if it were to follow the path as a piscivore so id rather like to see the currently planned spino for Isle instead as it looks hella badass and is probably a hell of alot more fun to play aswell.

In my opinion, spinosaurus is an alright design, but it could've been so much better. I am someone who likes realistic designs, but Path of Titans design personally doesn't work for a ingame Meta for the Isle. I feel like keeping the current design, but making the sail bigger, slightly shrinking the mouth so it doesn't look as bulky, and adding that paddle tail could've fixed it for me. Because this design, to me, looks bland and basic. Its spinosaurus, but not spinosaurus enough. The Concept Art could've shown some fishing or swimming behaviour, but that's in the past now as well.
I may not play The Isle Anymore, but I feel like adding my own imput would be nice.
It showed how Spinosaurus will move around underwater, walking on the bottom of the rivers.

I agree, it looks like a cheap kids' toy from early 2000s when they didn't know what an actual spinosaur looked like lol it's too chonky and just wrong to be a semiaquatic animal. I really don't understand why devs went with this weird ass design when they obsess over making the most unnecessary details as realistic as possible. It's also funny seeing people making conjectures and plans with this dino, when it likely won't be in the game for at least the next 3 years😂

As a Spino fan, I feel like it shouldn’t easily beat rex and Giga, the Spinosaurus shouldn’t be able to outdamage Rex or outbleed Giga. But it should win the fight if it has water to use at it’s disposal. It would just be kinda boring if Spinosaurus just overpowered Rex to pander to JP3 fans. Apex fights should be close but Rex should be the damage based brawler. Spinosaurus should really use water 24/7 as a massive advantage.

To be honest, I missed that more badass design of the Spinosaurus, it's like Snock but a little more realistic.
I think to balance it out, Spino should be slower than Rex, Giga, Acro on land. You can't have a super predator dominating both enviorments. The sheer size, especially with the sail would make it difficult for spino to sneek up on anything too.
