    Great video, thanks! Coming from an audio-engineering background, this is really counterintuitive. In my world EVERYTHING happens in the mixer. I get why this is the preferred method, but...
    Also, I'm new to OpenTX/EdgeTX, and old, so I feel a bit like a monkey with a cellphone.

      The default add model feature does not create dual rates. It makes 4 entries in inputs and 4 entries in the mixer.

    Great video. However, I wonder why everyone who creates a video on the Inputs screen with multiple options have a switch assigned to all options? The issue I see with this is, what happens if the switch settings do not cover all possible switch positions? In you example, what if you had the switch be SA center and SA up and nothing for SA down (I suspect this would be a common rooky mistake)? I think this would result in a problem (no input selected, stuck at 0%) until you realize that you need to put the switch in a valid position. Am I wrong about this? I find that the easy way to make sure this never happens is leave the bottom option with no switch selected. On the input screen (behaves different on the mix screen), OpenTX and EdgeTX picks the first line that has a matching switch so if the last line has none, a line with no switch option will act as a catch all and be use when the switch does not match any of the above. What do you think of this? If this is a good idea, why does no one on UA-cam tell people to do this? If it is a bad idea, why is it bad? Might be a good video to address this. Let me know if you have questions and/or need clarification about this.

    Quality video as usual, thanks.
    But no mention of using Flight Modes and variables to define rates/expo. Reduces input lines even more. Maybe that would make it seem more complicated to people starting out?

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  Рік тому

      You'll find with Edge/OpenTX there are usually many ways to accomplish a task. I present the methods I believe are most practical and in-line with developer intentions. Certainly flight modes are an option if you want to add that layer of configuration.

    • @stevep4131
      @stevep4131 Рік тому

      @@RCVideoReviews I kinda suspect the developers intended us to use Flight Modes.. you have a switch to select a Flight Mode which defines the value in a variable which is used as a rate or expo setting in one single input line.
      But probably best for beginners to start out as you demonstrate in your video.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  Рік тому

      None of the new model options including "create new model" or the wizard utilize flight modes. All of them utilize inputs. Also, the developers watch this channel and I communicate with them pretty regularly, so, I'll stick with my conviction the intent is to use inputs. But like we say around here: Your money, your hobby...do your thing.

    Can you do a video on how to assign the same dual rates, but using the rotating knobs on the top of the radio master? I'm still trying to figure out how to do that with dual rates and gyro settings. It would be nice to rotate the knob at the top from 0 to 100%.

    An other video is missing: Negative values of weight should be used in mixer but must not be used in input (unless you want to have the trim moving to the wrong direction). With other words: since openTX and also in edgeTX we recogniced that the trims are not reversed while the sticks are reversed using negative values of weight in the inputs.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  9 місяців тому +1

      It is true you shouldn't use negatives in inputs for that reason. I actually recently learned that the hard way.

    Loved this video and I have reworked my dual rates. One question though, how does this work with dual ailerons? At the moment I have two inputs both with dual rates set. Is there a way to map my second input to my other aileron channel to pick up the same rates?

    • @RCVideoReviews

      Why dual inputs for ailerons? That's kind of the point. Use one input for ailerons and apply that input to two mix lines.

    What if you're setting up expo on one switch, and rates on a separate switch? I like to have my expo and rates individually togglable. Wouldn't you need to use the inputs for one, and mixer for the other? I currently have my expo setup on my inputs, and rates on my mixer.

    • @Loochy808
      @Loochy808 Рік тому

      @@EnglishTurbines I'm not sure I agree with that. They accomplish two different things. I can think of situations where you would want access to either or. Primarily when trying to tune in an aircraft. Setting both on separate switches allows you to try multiple combinations to find which rate settings are best on a new aircraft, and which expo they should be combined with. Just my opinion...

      you get your throws 100% dialed before your maiden every time? Consider me skeptical...
      Regardless, I'd maintain there is an advantage to being able to adjust your throws on the fly, individually of your expo.
      I fail to see the argument for less adjustability over more, unless you're just trying to simplify your settings. But hey, if you've got all that experience that shouldn't be a worry now chap.

      I would never start with 90% expo on a sport plane. No more than 70% initially on a 3D plane. Rates are perfectly useful and are commonly used. 90% expo just sounds like a terrible idea as the center would be terribly flat.

    • @Loochy808
