It's also possible to use logical switches to control the timers. I use a combination of throttle > 5% AND arm switch on AND rssi > 0 to start the timer. Holding the prearm button for longer than 1.5 seconds while the arm switch is off, will reset the timer. For Betaflight in this case.
This video helped me a lot. I was able to set the timer 1 on my Tx16s transmiter. I bought it but have problems to set every thing but this videos help slot. Thanks so much.
Saw this on a earlier video of yours, and had set it up since then. But I regularly forget to reset the timer when I change the battery. Growing old is great fun.... 😬
If you're using an autopilot and tend to set throttle to zero when under automatic control, to avoid accidental throttle nudge, THt is better than THs to trigger the timer as then it won't stop the timer when throttle is lowered to zero.
Never thought to reset timers with a switch have always used the select button with a long press. I already use the momentary switch for an instant read out of RSSI but will set it up using a logical switch so will reset timer only when switch is held for 2 secs. Would not be getting the full benefit of Open TX without your help. Many thanks
Thanks, I'm finding more and more that the older videos are not being watched - despite them containing useful tips and tricks. I'm blaming the UA-cam algorithm..

Hi Lee just wanted to inform you maybe because of the update or something but (THs) does not stop my timer even when Throttle is got back to 0 but (Throttle%) option does Thanks for all your help, Ur the best Cheers
I kept forgetting to reset my timer so I created a logical switch to reset the timer when my motor safety switch was in the safe position and my RSSI was zero. The timer starts when I throttle up like the video but I like throttle % so it adapts to the way I fly that pack.
Thanks for this video! Very nice. How do I set the timer up, so it starts at lets say 10%? I only see, that it can be setup like this, but not howto adjust the threshold. Thx
Can you elaborate? I don't understand the question... If you mean using a switch rather than set it off automatically then check out the OpenTX Mix School series..
Happy Christmas to you. I've followed your instructions on setting up the Throttle timer (TMR1) and the timer reset via the momentary timer switch SH. However the timer does not count down when I move the Throttle stick. Could you suggest how I might check where I've gone wrong. I don't have the Tx bound to a Rx at the moment.
Hi. Thanks for your helpful video but how can I set a Throttle cut switch funktion (SF-) that stops your timer when throttle cut is on (Thr -100) and starts it againg when throttle cut is off (SF+) ?
I'd look at starting and stopping the timer with a logical switch and setting up a logical switch to be only active on the conditions you want - see the OpenTX Mix School.. best of luck..
With the lack of OSD on the DJI system, I find myself digging in to radio call outs. How can we set up say altitude, speed and distance off the GPS to call out in say 100 foot increments? Aside from a switch, can telemetry be set up to read out as you fly? Great Vid on timers, been on a throttle timer for years as a back up to my OSD.
You can setup the OSD in the DJI stuff with Betaflight or iNav and there are options now for systems that talk MAVlink too (sadly using another board to change MAVlink to be something that DJI understands). See my Lockdown build where I added the DJI stuff to an iNav Drak..
Ive followed your instructions to set up timer one and to have it start counting when i move the throttle, for some reason it doesn't work, is there something I've missed or doing wrong?
Hi Lee, thanks for the videos. I want to start my timer using the spring switch at one touch. No need to reset since I fly gas and when I turn the radio off after landing, next time turning on for the next flight, it will reset by it self. How can I do that? Thank you a bunch. Cheers
You can assign a logical switch to start the timer so I'd look at using the STICKY function in special functions to 'lock on' the momentary switch and use that to run the timer.. See the OpenTX Mix school for more about logical switches and timers..

Hi Lee, I've followed the instructions, but when I reset the timer, using the switch, it starts to run regardless of the throttle stick position, pulling the stick down doesn't stop the countdown as in the video. What did I miss/do wrong?
I'm brand new to RC and located in the US. Are controllers universal or do they use different frequencies based on the country you are in? I'm thinking of getting a nice controller to go with a beginner plane and just keep the controller as I upgrade through planes.
I want to duplicate my Spektrum NX10 timer1 in my TX16S. The Spektrum timer allows you to start and stop the time based on throttle stick position. For example, I have a nitro model that I set the time to count down when the stick position is more than 20%. The reason is that there is very little fuel burn at low throttle and this is a better judge of flight time than the th% function of the TX16S. Is this possible with the TX16S? I love watching your videos and especially your British accent. I live in Oklahoma, USA.
I'm not sure on the answer to your question as... but the TH% option is very interesting... it varies the speed of the countdown timer as a percentage of stick position. So, if you know your engine will exhaust all it's fuel in 7 minutes at full throttle, then set your timer for 7 minutes, and the more throttle you use, the faster the clock will tick down. Pretty interesting function. I'm sure you could use the logical switches somehow to set up what you're wanting to do like your Spektrum and my Aurora timers... But I don't have a clue as to how, LOL... Still learning OpenTX!!
It's also possible to use logical switches to control the timers. I use a combination of throttle > 5% AND arm switch on AND rssi > 0 to start the timer. Holding the prearm button for longer than 1.5 seconds while the arm switch is off, will reset the timer. For Betaflight in this case.
