The main reason why Larry Fitzgerald isn’t even in the GOAT conversation is that most people haven’t really watched him play. Being on the Cardinals was almost like being exiled in terms of media coverage. Sure, the national media and fans have seen some of his greatest moments in the playoffs, but I bet most people watching this video haven’t seen the majority of his highlights. Just look at the numbers-his highlight videos have less than 10% of the views compared to other great receivers like Rice, Megatron, Moss, Antonio Brown, Owens, Marvin Harrison, OBJ, and Julio Jones.
The NFL doesn’t track stats for diving or spectacular catches, but if they did, Fitzgerald would probably be at the top. Think about the most iconic catches in NFL history-Odell Beckham’s one-hander, DeAndre Hopkins’ between-the-legs grab, Julio Jones’ sideline catch in the Super Bowl, or Justin Jefferson’s 4th-and-17 against the Bills. Those plays are unforgettable because they’re not just routine; they’re extraordinary. Fitzgerald has been making those kinds of plays his entire career.
Larry "Mossed” almost twice as many players as Moss. Let that sink in.

Larry is the definition of a great receiver and just a great teammate. Its really a shame he couldnt cap off his career with a superbowl win but it really doesnt diminish his stat-line at all when you have a record like "more tackles than dropped passes." You should do an Eric Moulds vid. Every season except 1 he averaged over 10 yards a catch and one season he was averaging 20 yards a catch. Dont see a lot of videos out on him.

@@cinema_yoyoure probably right, especially with how good recievers are now. I understand he might not have the accolades that most recievers did or do. But it'd make for a good video especially with the Bills reciever room and the rhetoric around Josh and his recievers now that Diggs is gone. Moulds only missed 6 games for the bills in his entire tenure there and had the franchise reception and yardage record until Diggs showed up 2020. His 8 seasons there he was 7th overall for yardage at that point in the entire nfl which aint bad. The dude was a huge part of the team. Unfortunately he suffered by virtue of being a Bill. He also set a playoff record against the dolphins. Dude averaged 80 catches 1k yards a season. Buffalo loves that guy, I imagine itd get a lot of views.

I grew up in Arizona and got to watch Larry from when I was a 14 year old kid in 2004 until retired when I was 30. He is for sure the best receiver in NFL history. People forget that he rarely had a top tier quarterback throwing him the ball. Imagine if he had Aaron Rogers or Peyton Manning for his entire career? He would have blown away every single receiving record .

  • @shaggyfrankdizzl
    @shaggyfrankdizzl 2 місяці тому +4

    Honorable mention: Art Monk
Was the all time reception record holder at the time of his retirement, as well as the first receiver to ever get over 100 receptions in a season.
He did this all during a run heavy era, on a run heavy team, and was a win-first type of player who would fight for every yard, and was an excellent blocker.
Could make a legitimate argument for the real best WR of all time, but it has to be put into context, the difference of era, shared the field with other great receivers who took catches and yards away, and the fact that there were only 14 games a season for the first half of monks career.
He never played with an elite QB, let alone a great or hof worthy Qb
Even Joe Gibbs himself apologized to Monk at his hall of fame acceptance for "running the ball so much, because if not he would have been known as the best receiver ever"

Larry Fitzgerald is hands down the most underrated wide receiver in NFL history!
Sinplu because for 85% of his entire career he was on a failing Cardinals team that usually lost more games then they won and rarley ever made it to the playoffs smh 🤦
If he was on a Super Bowl winning franchise he'd be a household name and talked about with the likes of Jerry Rice, T.O, Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson and Julio Jones Ect... If not looked at as above some of those guys 🤷. Dudes career stats are PHENOMENAL! Especially for a guy who most the time has had to deal with mediocre and sub-par below average QB's if not absolute TRASH ones and dude was still putting up over a 1,000 yards and 7 to 8 TD's a season 🤯🔥. He was the most consistent every down WR who had a tendency to SHINE in 3rd down situations when...
Dude is a top 10 WR ALL TIME if not you could argue top 5 but him never winning a ring really makes people put him on the wayside and forget about him whenever they debate the best to ever do it at WR. He is NEVER mentioned but he absolutely should be on the regular!

The body control of this man, mid-air or on the ground, gave him an unmatched catch radius. He was the first player since Barry Sanders to make me question whether or not the laws of physics apply to this man in the same way as they do to you or I.
But his most impressive stat? The Tackles vs. Drops one is pretty awesome, but I think the most important and impressive stat for Larry Fitzgerald: He's the ONE wide receiver to whom Richard Sherman would NOT talk trash, and Sherman was on two different division rival teams to the Cards. No ego, community pillar, and so good even Sherman wouldn't talk crap to him? Yeah, the man's a legend.
Also, as an Eagles fan, I just want to apologize to Larry for whatever our city did to offend him. Dude torched the Eagles every time we faced him.

Okay, I get the Larry Fitzgerald argument. I do. However, you will never find another athelete in any sport who maximized their own talent more than Jerry Rice. He was the perfect symphony of god given talent and a relentless pursuit to be able to use every last ouce of that talent. His training regime was legendary. There's a reason Rice was still a starting wide receiver into his 40s for crying out loud. Not even Jordan trained like Rice did. Larry Fitzgerald absolutely deserves to be in the conversation as the best of all time. It's just that, for me, when that conversation is said and done, the final period belongs to Jerry Rice.

Sorry, but off-the-field arguments don’t really apply when discussing who’s the greatest on the field. Sure, Jerry Rice’s work ethic allowed him to play longer, but things like running hills and sprinting after Super Bowls are too far removed from actual games to factor into the GOAT debate. What really matters is what they did on the field, and in football, that’s heavily influenced by the people around you. Jerry was the luckiest receiver ever-playing with five MVPs, two Hall of Famers, and the greatest offensive coach, Bill Walsh, in an era when teams prioritized stopping the run. His stats are largely a result of those ideal conditions.

Thank you for making this. I've been saying for years that Larry Fitzgerald might be the most underrated player in NFL history. Legitimately an all-time top 5 WR, maybe top 3. Best hands in the history of the game and also became one of the best blocking WRs ever after he was asked to do that more. Single-handedly dragged a mediocre Arizona team to the Super Bowl (and were seconds away from winning it) with the greatest individual playoff run I've ever seen. If this man played in a bigger market with better teams, he'd be considered a football god.

Been a lifelong Cardinals fan since their 1998 playoff run, and I completely agree with you on why Larry is the true greatest receiver of all-time.
And it's not because I am a Cards fan, but simply on how he was able to put up the numbers he did, as consistently as he did, with the QB play he had.
Okay, maybe a little bit is of me being a Cards fan.
But the facts speak for themselves as you mention.
Also the fact he was so loyal. My three favorite Cardinals of all-time are (in order) Adrian Wilson, Aeneas Williams, and Larry Fitzgerald.
Give me Aeneas over Deon anyday, Larry Legend is Larry Legend, and in his prime, I feel A-Dub was the best Safety in the NFL at the time.
All three of those guys could have demanded a trade at anytime due to their greatness, and yet they stayed devoted and loyal to AZ.
Loyalty as a friend/colleague is the single most important trait to me as a person, and those three represented it in spades.

If you couldn’t tell by my profile pic, I’m a huge Fitz fan.
I had no LA team growing up and my dad liked Kurt Warner and when I was old enough to like football for myself he was on the cardinals, and thus they became my team.
My earliest memories of the NFL are of Fitz humbly tearing up defenses and his insane playoff run(santonio didn’t catch it btw, his right foot rests on his left and doesn’t make contact with the ground while he has possession, fook the steelers)
Love the Hail Larry, perfect example of him as a player, and his career in retrospect. He’s at his best when you need it the most, and that’s an incredible quality to have. That, and him constantly having to put the team on his back in crunch time.
Nobody has done more with less in the history of the NFL, save for maybe Barry Sanders.

As a Niner fan I have long stated that the ONLY WR remotely near Rice is Larry F.
I recall a game vs AZ where we were shutting AZ out.
Fitz was on the sideline practicing how how to catch a particular pass. He wasn't yelling at the coach. He wasn't moping by himself. He was trying to make himself better.
Shortly afterwards Larry made the exact type of catch he was practicing in the game.
Then with like 0 time left He split our D and caught a TD to prevent a shutout.
And I'm like wow. This guy is obsessed. Rice honestly had a mental disorder man. He was so obsessive that if he weren't a football player would land him in a psych ward
. The guy was a total freak. Obsessive over anything.
    Fitz has that too.
Rices record will never fall. You need to play 20 years scoring 10 TD EVERY YEAR to get as many TD as Rice.
We treat a WR who scores 10 TD in a single season as a God now.😂
    He's nothing. 20 freaking years of 10 TD a year. 😂😂😂
