    Great reviews, but I’ve watched so many now I’m getting confused! I had been looking at SImba hybrid, but I don’t think you have reviewed this. The pro sounds too soft. My partner is 17 stones, likes to front sleep but actually mixed sleeper and usually goes for firm mattress due to back, also has shoulder aches. I am 8:5 stone front and side sleeper, and my main issue is the heat generated by a hot husband. Can you recommend a mattress to best address these weight, sleep and heat considerations - maybe I need a latex topper on my side? We would prefer a medium firm feel. Up to 1k. Many thanks

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  3 роки тому

      i would be looking more at emma original and otty hybrid for a frotn sleeping 17 stone but your weight is so different its hard to name mattress. this is where the tweak comes in which can be configured for each side and yes you could add a latex topper like the una one over the top but then it would be over your budget.

    Hi Alan, I love your mattress reviews, watched them all, some a couple of times! I bought UNA mattress last month, love the concept - organic latex et all BUT. Tolerable only in hard setting and while on my back! Please advise where do I go next. I am a side sleeper, tall, 20 stone, big difference between hips and waist. I think i need something more contouring my waist is not supported enough. Was thinking ergoflex, but maybe I am too heavy for it? Which direction do I go now Alan the Great?

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  3 роки тому +1

      i would never have suggested the una based on your weight. the ergoflex would be firmer but at your weight might not have enough contouring. the dreamcloud is a possible while the otty pure is firmer still but they have springs. did you want all foam? you may need a solid latex mattress if so, where the mattress is a single slab of latex with decent thickness. there is an otty pure plus now, not sure where it sits as never heard from otty since the day i uploaded their review, go figure :)

    Hi Alan - many thanks for your comprehensive reviews. Question on the Dreamcloud, I notice you don't have this mattress on the floor as you do with many mattresses you review but rather on a spring slatted base. Is this because dreamcloud recommend this setup? And if it were on a solid base, or the floor, would it feel firmer?

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  3 роки тому

      no its just that i decided to start showing mattresses this way. all my videos will be like this moving forward. yes a solid base will give a firmer feel than sprung slates.

    Thank you Alan for all the hard work you put into these reviews. Would the Dreamcloud mattress be OK as I suffer from Sciatica? I do like the design with the 15cm springs.
    Also what would the matress weight be for a double?
    Finally are the Bundles they offer especially the Premium and Luxury bundles value for the money as my bed is 30 years old. Enough said.

    Excellent review, thank you Alan. Given the extra comfort layer and support, do you think this would be a good mattress for 2 x slide sleepers ( some back sleeping), both under 10 stone, and one of us gets very warm at night. Only been sleeping on memory forma for last 10 years.

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  3 роки тому +1

      possibly 😊 all these hybrids will have some pushback and because you are on the light side you need just a bit more give. I didnt have any heat issues but of course it is memory foam on top at the end of the day. What I would sy is that of all the hybrids I have tried this would be most likely to suit a side sleeper, i just hesitate because of your weight. Do you have any shoulder sensitivity?

    • @LukeyInTheUK
      @LukeyInTheUK 3 роки тому

      Thanks Alan and a good question as partner does have shoulder issues. In comparing the scores on your reviews we notice Emma Hybrid and Simba have better scores for side sleepers and cooling vis Dreamcloud. In addition Motion transference is important and again those 2 rate higher. Given our considerations are 2 x light side sleepers, one who sleeps warm, other with shoulder issues, and wanting minimal motion transference, seems like those 2 would be better options?

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  3 роки тому +1

      @@LukeyInTheUK remember ultimately your preference will be unique to you. I mark any mattress with memory foam on top as lower for cooling as by nature it will trap your heat, thats how it works. Its a shame if you are sensitive to heat as memory foam will be the kindest to your shoulder. Yes Emma will certainly be one of the softest i have tried so may well be ballmark firmness level for you. If it wasnt for the fact it is memory foam on top i would also have suggested a look at hugge. The simba original i reviewed is an older version now so my scoring may not be accurate for that one. Also memory foam is best for motion transfer.

    • @LukeyInTheUK
      @LukeyInTheUK 3 роки тому +1

      @@alanrossreviews Brilliant - we will have a closer look at Hugge also. Really appreciate your advice. For us, there's so many variables that we wont get one that meets them all, compromise at the end of the day and as you say heat sensitivity can be addressed by sheets / duvet also. Hopefully Simba sort it out and send you an updated mattress to review also.

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  3 роки тому +1

      @@LukeyInTheUK remember memory foam is also very susceptible to room temperature as well. In that a cold room will make it feel firmer and a warm room will make it feel softer. Yes bedding can help a lot. 👍

    thanks for doing these, this is a truly comprehensive review format. I've been researching mattresses for 3 days solid and still can't decide. Covid restrictions mean I can't try out in store. what would you recommend for a 11 stone, side sleeper, who prefers a 'cool' sleep with medium-firm feel? I have a budget up to £1k. I have really enjoyed salus viscoool in the past but they don't have a medium-firm option at the moment

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  3 роки тому

      being on the lighter side and being a side slepper screams soft so im a bit weary of your medium firm requirement plus sleeping cool so memory foam would be a problem. I think dreamcloud would be possible but top end of firmness you should be looking at. My website otza.com will give you my firmness ratings for each. Nectar and simbo hybrid pro would be ballpark for medium firm but nectar is memory foam. emma hybrid is a very soft mattress so maybe too soft but its not memory foam. Tweak can be adjusted into soft medium or firm.

    Just stumbled across your channel and have subscribed. Your reviews are fantastic. We’re a couple in the market for a new mattress due to back and hip pain on current mattress.
    We’re both on the slightly heavier side both weighing between 13 - 15 stone. Both mainly side sleepers and don’t want anything too soft, but not extremely firm either. We need enough support.
    My partner gets extremely hot when sleeping so this is a big factor too.

    Your reviews are super informative - thank you! I have a Relyon 1200 Luxury pocket sprung mattress that i've slept on for years and find really comfortable - it says "Firmer Tension" on the label. I want to change the mattress as its so old, but all of these hybrid matresses seem to be medium or less re firmness. Is this the equivalent of an older firm tension? or do I really need to try and find the firmest hybrid mattress? I dont have any back issues, but im finding of late my shoulders ache a bit in bed. well i dont sleep on sprung mattresses outside of reviews. I use the bodymould supreme 70 kg/m3 memory foam topper (3 inches) and the Una topper. You will need a sprung mattress that is a bit firmer than you like as the bass for this to work.

    Hi Alan. been a while since I watched any reviews. Thought I had solved my mattress problem. Have had a Nectar mattress for the last year. It's been great.... until now. Slept on it fine, even being a shift worker sleeping during the day, no heat issues either. But one year in and it is sagging in the middle considerably now so I am looking for a replacement already, not impressed. I have not rotated it, at all until now. Which may be why it has sank so much I guess. My own fault. I did not realise you needed to rotate so much until now!!! Iv gone over the 365 trial as well so lumbered with this now I guess. I was thinking maybe the Ergoflex might be a solution as I do like the memory foam mattresses. Or this Dream cloud hybrid I had an Emma Original but could not get on with it and sent it back, so not sure tbh I sleep side/back mainly. Start off on side, wake up on my back. I am about 82 kilo and 5.8 height. Got any reccomendations ? Ta

      if you liked the nectar at first i would get the ergoflex and then put a topper on it. thats what i do. when the topper starts to sag just replace the topper. i use a bodymould supreme at 70 kg/m3 and 3 inches deep. density if the key to longevity. and rotating of course 😁

Just waiting to hear back from Nectar is regards my "forever warranty" But I doubt will get anywhere as its not the 4 cm dip they state is a warranty issue. im out of touch with how they compare. the biggest lesson i learned is not try and find that mattress with the perfect feel because it will change very quickly. something slightly firmer than you would really like but then fine tuning with toppers is the way to go for me. i use two toppers, wool on top of memory foam and an ergoflex below. but thats just me. but all these online mattresses will soften up quite quickly. its the top that goes first. easier to swap out a topper than replace a mattress. of those i might have said try Dreamcloud but i heard its changed significantly since the version i had.
