Ahhh how did I miss your white glue for light lenses the first watch!! Fantastic, the amount of stress and angst trying to paint, buy or make em! Nice build and ill be getting that kit too.
What you said about not being afraid to try new things is so true. It is always better to do it on a less expensive model before you tackle a 80 dollar interior tank.
I think it realy depends but i don't think every model need a heavy wash and a lot of mud but look at night shifts 3 inch gun carrier that one is realy muddy but nice
Thanks for taking the time to share your skills. Very informative and easy to follow. I’ve started with the Churchill and this will be my next step. Cheers 👍🏽😊
Nice build, Jason! I built one of these when they first came out and it literally flew together - definitely Tamiya quality - only for my first attempt with Ammo paints to go wrong. Still ended up with a good-looking Sherman, despite all that. It was so good I bought another kit and will follow your videos when I build that because I think that I've over-complicated builds following received wisdom before. Looking forward to the T34!
About to do my first all olive drab paint scheme on a 1:35 model and have been concerned about it just looking flat and boring. Excellent tips here to apply! On 1:48 models I had good success doing technique from wargamming mini with a base coat, wash, dry brush/highlight to build up texture and colour. That doesn't work on big flat surfaces though so need a new approach - thanks for the videos mate!
One thing you can do is use different colors to add highlights when airbrushing. I use Tamiya. So i I'm doing a olive drab tank, I'll use flesh, buff, and a light grey. White is too stark. The highest highlights I might mux a combo of a yellow and a clear yellow to it, but just a drop. It adds a lot if depth.
That's the only I get silvering if used a daft gloss coat first so it's something I never do I always do it this way then give the decal a wee fine sanding so it blends into the paintwork! You can't do this with a gloss coat or you get a bad scratched dull patch even if you seal it with yet another clear coat so yeah totally agree a gloss is Definitely Not needed! Thats on a heavy casting to that I'll do all work's! Just done it to my Ricch universal carrier "katie" the decals after a wee sand look absolutely beautiful!
You can much cheaper just thin down youre acrylic paints a d make washes that way. Or buy cheap oil paint witch is just as good since most of the paint will be streaked away anyways so paint quality dont matter.
Thanks for the build review... building a kit shows its good and bad qualities. I really like this kit. I know the armored fuel caps are in the U shaped guards on the hull and the one above near the turret. The top inside caps are for oil and the rear most are water.. I have no idea what the single rear one is for.. I don't remember seeing it on a Sherman.. I doubt Zvezda made a mistake so I am curious as to what it's for.
To be safe, gloss. If you don't, make sure the area is buffed out so it's smooth. But personally? I definitely gloss coat. I do a ton of layers. And I need the protection.
Fantastic video and some very useful information. When I use tamiya XF62 it often gets fingerprints and dark patches ( due to the oils on hands). Is there any way of remedying this issue.
Yes over coating with a varnish will stop that but if you prefer not to, just wipe the model down with a smooth cloth once you’ve finished handling it, or you can also wear gloves through the handling stage. It’s because it has a very matt finish
Great great work. Do I get it right that you painted it overall with acrylic paint and use acrylic paints for washing and weathering? I wonder how the base coat of olive drab stays undamaged by weathering process?
Base coat is lacquer paint, dries hard as a rock The oils dont interct on top, its when u start overcoating the ouks w clear varnish where u start getting interactions, since oils take so long to cure completely
You can buy ‘Circles Template’s online (Graphics Direct or Amazon etc) or from a local Hobbycraft or W H Smiths for approximately £2 - £3 , (some kits include a photo etch stencil).

Your dialogue is so calming as you paint; it really adds to the great work you produce. Cheers!
Great tutorial! My kit arrived this morning so you have given me some great tips.
*Splendid clean Sherman, i really like this kind of built, too much weathering vehicles nowadays! 👏👏👏👏👏*

Relaxing video. It remembered me not to be anxious about the correct order. Just enjoy it damn it. :]
Another great video, I’ve bought some abteilung oils in order to follow these builds along great stuff keep the great work coming 👍

Very nice and clean Sherman
Excellent, great info and techniques. Thanks
Awesome series..thank you
I have never used a gloss coat on armor and have never had an issue. Solvaset , I have a bottle I purchased in the late 70s lol
Looks good Jason!!
Great informative videos thank you. Question: for weathering you use oil paint, therefore can you use Windsor and newton water mixable oils?

Sherman time...yes 💯

I lost a couple of hand clasp to carpet monster, so bought some very thin copper wires, wish me luck.
Nice work! It is not very difficult to make stencils for those numbers, using the decals as template, usually I do this ;)

@@ChampionScaleModelling Excellent thank you very much.
Awesome Video !!but where can i get this tool to spray only the inner Parts of the Wheels?
Is the wheel mask just a drafting circle template or some specialized modeling product?

How about the question? 🤚

What needle are you using? Looks like you cover a huge surface
Nice build by the way, lol.
Why not try painting metal parts with gun metal mixed with varying shades of black. I don’t remember seeing tools painted black.
Where did you get that wheel mask?
Check out Multiple Wounds reply above for ‘Circle Templates’.
Where did you get the wheel mask from?
