Truly appreciate the amount of detail you went into on this video. You sealed the deal for me on the M4A2. I am definitely going to do mine as a USMC Pacific theater Sherman. I just spent about about 90mins going through your video and taking build notes for MY project! Thank you!
This is the one I am building right now. You are again helping me with this build. It's my first one in about 40 years. The models back then where like they came out of the stone age compared to today's. I am very lucky to see this video. Thanks.
Your videos are extremely informative, motivating and entertaining. In addition to being a superb miniaturist, I wonder if you are a professional broadcaster. If you are not, you should be. Kudos and thanks.
Thank you very much for this video. I was just watching a video about the RFM Sherman before this where the builder criticised the overengineering. Your video convinced me to go for the Zvezda Sherman instead. I have built their new tool T-34/76 last year and it was a dream to build, just like you describe the Sherman fit.
Great stuff just watch the tracks they’re ever so slightly tight but do join up, there is always mud if you have a little gap! The marking schemes I have now seen pictures of Ceaser in the Pacific and it has different tracks to that in this kit, best off with the Soviet one they provide 👍
@@ChampionScaleModelling I am eyeing their M4A3 as a base for a M32B3 using parts of the Italeri/Tamiya M32. As I see it it has the steel chevron tracks, though most M32s seem to have used the rubber chevron tracks.
I must say, the new zvezda kits are great. Their t-14 aramata is the best kit of that tank, and is one of the best kits I've ever made. I also made a 1/72 pz4 G late war, and that was a very nice kit.
Their newer 1/48 aircraft kits have been outstanding for some time. Their 1/35 newer tool armour is OK, but with the exception of the very latest like this initial release new tool Sherman, not up to the same standard as their aircraft IME&PO. They are superb value though if looking for meat 'n taters but accurate models, as long as one shops around. They have been constantly improving their armour, so I hope this is an example of the new future standard.
@@barrythatcher9349 I'll just give the usual advice really, double check the kit isn't a duff as all manufacturers make a bad kit every now and then. And check it's a new kit of theirs.
That is a dead impressive kit and a nice build video. If your into more modern tanks a really good build is the Zevezda T90. There are lots of parts and the turret is almost a kit in its own right. The quality is the same as this Sherman.
It has a separate barrel end because even guns not intended to receive a muzzle brake were typically threaded at the end, and received a corresponding threaded end cap for the muzzle. Looks like a nice kit. Apart from the T-49 track, which was typical of RUS and GB Shermans, the hull looks very much like an M4A3 from the engine deck grilles, rather than an M4A2 diesel type - as with export models. Going to need to consult RP Hunnicutt on that... The 600 page 'bible' on Shermans.
One thing you need to add is a weld bead on the side profile it's where the front hull is at a 45° angle. In scale it's about 1 or 2 mm from the front hull. Tamiya forgot it pn there's,most companies do it but it's usually not good looking
Hi, Thanks for posting the video tutorial so finally watching as I build my own one and copying what you did but the rear radiators are a real struggle it seems already. The middle fin its got a piece that sticks proud of the top the radiators and seems to be causing an issue and there is no recess for it on the inside so either it's not right and needs to be cut off to fit or it's simply me not getting it positioned correctly. Please share any guidance or pictures of your model or anything else that might help me in this build. The metal barrel I ordered for it didn't fit so making do with the plastic one.
I picked this one because it is the one my uncle was the driver of. They were hit in the battle of the bulge. My uncle was hit in the leg. Could no longer drive. He was in most of the main battles from the d day invasion.
It's a great kit. I hope they make a 76mm too. I found it easier to build the upper and lower hull together.. then add the sponson fillets.. then add the suspension. I found it important to keep checking the hull parts to make sure some didn't shift when assembling the hull. On mine,.. i had to adjust the suspension a little to align the sprocket ,wheels and rollers so the tracks wouldn't tweak . The tracks fit perfectly. I really liked the factory stamps that are all over the hull parts. Its really a fun well detailed kit and way cheaper than most armor kits.
Excellent video, as usual. 👏 I have been eyeing this kit with the idea of doing a Sherman in the Pacific Theatre as well, so I hope you'll share your build of a Pacific Sherman when you get it done! ☺ One point and a quick question: 1. For those who'd rather not deal with photo-etch, there are a couple of manufacturers who are making excellent 3D printed resin light guards & other details for Shermans. If you go the photo-etch route, look to see if there's a manufacturer who provides a jig with the photo-etch that will enable you to easily get the right bends. 2. Should there be a weld bead around each plate of applique armour?
Zvezda are a mixed bag.. I made their IS2 which was like a 1970's kit. The lower hull needed "scaffolding" added so it would stick together. Rest of kit on. Bit rough looking but so was real thing. It cost me a bit £21. Next was Ferdinand and that was an obviously newer tooling and was a great kit to build. Cost me about £31.. so clearly newer and slightly more pricey ones much better...
I have bought the same model with the extra metal gun barrel and PE to make it a complete kit for the same price as a Rye field or similar kit hopefully it will all go together well with Russian Tank riders and storage crossing a river in the Russian Step diorama I am building. have you done the painting vid yet or when do you plan to make it? I'd love to watch that.
Yes! Or any lens really even a blackout lamp!of take them off use the plugs on side with a bit of PE chain I've done that to one of mine and looks brilliant! Never ever seen it done ever aswell!
Ah no I meant it’s £25/30 so the same price range. I do disagree though the Tamiya M4s (all being different variants so there is that) lack sponsons, have poor tracks, soft details and lack a lot of the casting marks etc but each their own.
I tries a Zvezda ship model. Absolutely the WORST kit I’ve ever had! Didn’t even finish it; the quality was abysmal, the instructions baffling and the fit and finish was laughable.

Loving this newly discovered series... Great stuff for us begginers

Thanks again for this series.. As soon as I finish a rocket build for my friend's grandson, I'll start on the Tamiya Pander II.
the early 75mm gun had a more tapered end to it .. this being a late 75 mm use the less tapered piece.
Seat front and centre for this build. Lovely looking kit. Great tidy build. Keep up the good work

I'm interested in the zvezda 1/72 kits WWII and I pleased to hear that they are excellent. I'll buy a couple and give them a go.

I definitely loved their Armata kit, though I ran into the exact same issues with the link and length tracks
Just started on this beauty, can't wait to see the casting texture
Inspired me to buy this kit...Not started it yet but should do over the coming weeks....Thanks for the video
im currently building this one, never had good luck w Zvezda but this one is very good fit
Good video. Got this for my stash and will be building soon. Thanks for sharing.

Great build demo and explanation. Best I have seen in awhile. So I subscribed, look forward to more.
Always happy to see another notification for one of your videos!
The front piece is the transmission housing. Nice attention to detail on your part, good build

Zvezda released some info today and an M4A3 76 is on the list.
@@travis_thompson Thanks for sharing that. I'll be on the lookout for it. I hope Zvezda makes a new STZ T 34.. that could be really fine.
Great work as you said I think some photoetch parts would be good for this kit like the light guards
Very nice build, i also making the sherman as you, and maybe i gonna make a diorama for it

Hi the final part with painting will be out next week on Thursday
@@ChampionScaleModelling great looking forward to it
Is the end cap on the barrel supposed to be a cap for a threads. But that would mean the a2 came with the 76mm ?
Any recommendation for an alternative brand to Zvezda for the Sherman kit?
I realise it's a basic build but would it be possible to replace the headlight covers with the unused ones from the RFM firefly?
That is a very good question! Should have tried them 🤦

Zvezda mean star
Great build.
I wasn't very clear about the cast finishing - did you use only the thinners?
The wheel bogies, wow. They look far simpler than the Rye-Field ones, but just as detailed and far more straightforward.
what is the tool you use cut the wheel pivots?
Nice 👍🏻👍🏻
Hey you should make an Instagram Account so you can post pictures and builds of your tanks and I like the Cast texture on this Sherman tank :)
I have one, search for me 👍
Think tamiya equivalent better but still a good kit tamiya m4 is £3 dearer on Amazon not 25
