This strategy is unfortunately outdated after numerous updates to BG3. This was just my own trial and error of what worked in the beginning of my playthrough tbh. I still hear some people saying it works still and some saying it doesn’t now. I haven’t played BG3 since release. Best of luck and thank you everyone for all of the support and love on this video! You know what I did? I placed the runepowder bomb smack in the center of the room, used that invincibility dome to protect my team, and WHAM! That thing annihilated all of his minions, destroyed all 4 pillars and left him stunned. After that, I just held him and wacked him like a bitch.

Hope has banish which is a special kind of banish spell. It has 100% hit chance on the cambions and banishes them permanently from the house of hope. I believe she can use it twice in the fight
I did use that once or twice for the cambions but my primary focus was on killing raphael first. He was damaging my party way too much initially for me to focus on the cambions at first. Thanks for the feedback!
What you can also do is use the druid dinosaur transformation and spit acid at Raphael, that will make his AC armor go down slowly, then go to Karlach and smash his head with the hammer lmao
Hi I am a little old woman from Scotland and this is the first time I have played a game like this (Old? I am 60) I usually play things like Sims4. I managed to do everything in Avernus up to this point but cannot get further. I can't get Yurgir to side with me no matter how many times I reroll and my team gets wiped out every time. I have me, a druid, Gale, Astarion and Shadowheart. I have been trying every combination of spells and tactics (medieval history buff and years of Golden Eye on N64). I spent an entire afternoon on it but can't do it. I read The Necromancy of Thay so have some ghouls but they just get blown up (no fire resistance). I am about to give up, maybe start the whole thing again with a different team but would really like to not lose all of that gameplay. Today I am watching every playthrough on UA-cam until I get some advice relevant to my team. xxx
I did it!!!!! Finally got Yurgir on my side, turned the cambions into sheep and unleashed everything I had on Raphael. It took a while but I did it. Now to get Gortash and the final Netherstone. This is not just a game it is an experience. xxx

Damaging pillars seems to put some kind of debuff on Raphael that makes him basically useless far more than you'd expect. I started doing that since the beginning of the fight, you can use Deva summon (radiant + bludgeoning damage), earth elemental for bludgeoning, hasted warlock eldritch blast nearly destroys a pillar in one turn, also just a warrior with bludgeoning damage, but warrior is probably better used against cambions, hasted Lae'zel only needs a couple of turns to kill them all combined with hasted chain lightning from a spellcaster. Also Hope has an ability that one shots (permanently banishes) cambions. I got lucky that first big aoe hit from Raphael destroyed my dance macabre ghoul summons instead of my characters and after that i basically just destroyed everything at first attempt without even coming up with any particular strategy. I didn't even notice the annoying "drop weapon" skill from enemies cause they died too quickly for it to ever hit
Hey buddy! Thanks for the comment. Destroying the pillars definitely helps you alot in the fight. I didn’t even think about doing that since I would take way too much AoE damage from Raphael’s spell in the beginning. I found out that neutralizing him completely helped me the best. @Dredizzle not trying to tell you what to do... just sharing my own experience. My friend and I are doing a co op campaign with me as a circle of the moon druid and astarion as a dual crossbow ranger/thief. My buddy is playing a cleric and Laezel, no muti classing on either. We had ok gear, but nothing crazy. We used hope to divine wish a weapon that we gave to my cleric friend. Used bloodlust elixir on Astarion and concentration elixir on cleric. We had dome of invulnerability scrolls. We didnt have invulnerable sphere, but the scroll is nicer IMO because the dome it puts down is much smaller. Which means it makes it very hard for anyone but your party to gain benefit. Those that do, just shove them out and kill. Put that up in the middle of the room, and moved all our characters into the dome. We persuaded the demon to fight with us which was funny because, in his effort to shove enemies out of the dome, he would shove us too. So we kept having to run back in. Then we worked on killing the pillars with Astarion handcrossbows/hope/cleric guiding bolt and keeping ourselves alive. Was a close fight, but I can't believe how "easily" we did it. We somehow managed to do it our very first attempt with no quicksaves/loads. Lol it was a long fight, but very epic and fun. It felt kinda cheese, but being only lvl 11 with only somewhat decent gear, it seemed necessary. Not to mention felt like a cool way to kill him. Lol, house of hope was one of the first major things we did in act 3 so got TONS of upgrades doing it. Hella worth, but now I wonder if the game will feel trivial since we just beat one of the hardest bosses.
I beat him on tactician Willing him into submission : prepare summons . Hunger of Hadar , he hates that , it stops his flight. Run around the aoe and keep Eldritch Blasting him into it. Asap destroy pillars. Then minions. Send summons into the Hunger , heal from the sides and use range.
I don't remember what we (my party of friends) did, but we managed to get an outcome where Yurgir is with Raphael, but joins your side because he considers you an honorable hunter. That went a LONG way to helping us out because he was tanking the cambions like a beast.

It seems that the easiest way to win this fight is to combine globe of invulnerability to protect your guys with the most powerful runepowder explosion you can get your hands on. That will destroy the pillars and the cambions. Then, you could hold or dance Raphael to make it even more absurdly easy. You can even save the evil sister if you knock her out (nonlethal attack) and protected inside the globe (you can throw her around).
Your toons have no elixirs running, give karlach bloodlust and lae'zel giant hill strength, battlemage on casters...hold person/monster on raphael, -stats coating on weapon, enlarge on melee....etc etc etc. Let shadowheart cast her divine intervention (radiant damage) while in the bubble, it hits the whole room and doesn't trigger the cambion retaliation. Everyone should chug speed potions, fight is over in 2 turns.
Appreciate the tips! for my playthrough I had already used divine intervention unfortunately since it’s one time use spell. This fight was mostly improvisation until I found a way to survive. It was mostly trial and error for me. The main problem was the cambions weapon dropping attack combined with raphael’s AoE attack. that combo was doing way too much damage to my party unitl the invulnerability spell came into play for me. @@Dredizzle I played the game on normal first time and didn't prep before any fight, this one and a certain wizard had me reload. On tactician I play super conservative and prebuff alot of times, buy/craft alot of consumables. But I don't use the cheese tactics with camp hirelings for unlimited resistances. And I stay true to my RP rules I give myself. It's more fun if things go wrong and you bounce back by some clutch revive or mass heal :)
Globe of invulnerability really carries this fight... illithid powers+ aoe spells too. Black hole+ aoe+ cull the weak on and all adds explode. Especially sorc... other character uses black hole, then sorc casts 2x aoe and everything except raphael is gone Hold monster/ otto's dance + perilous stakes on raphael Can also use freecast/ the amulet that restores spell slot to cast heroes feast and then still have that lv.6 spell for a summon of whatever The difference going in unprepared vs. buffed to the max/ with scrolls/ elixirs/ coatings is party wipe vs. walk in the park
I did this even a stranger way lol.... I defeated most of the enemies in the room and ended up with only one character alive.... What you do is take that character all the way to the healing room and let what's leftover follow you and kill them individually lol... Raphael doesn't follow...omg and you can destroy the pillars without him paying attention what's you get back in that room!........ps...just make sure you have enough revive scrolls....one last thing make sure you have all those angelic drinks to restore everything
Spoilers ahead!! I don't see either of them on you, but you should definitely steal that amulet of greater health and the gauntlets of hill giant strength. Both of which are in the same room as the Orphic Hammer. If you persuaded Helsik to grant you access to Avernus "for free" you need to steal the gauntlets anyway, so might as well grab both. Not sure what happens if you don't disarm the traps that are protecting them (my Minsc managed to disarm both), but they're incredibly powerful artifacts and you really want them. Just make sure you only steal them *after* you gained access to and looted Raphael's safe in the boudoir. You should also lockpick/loot every single chest and container you can find in the House of Hope. I did this before any major plot-events happened and none of the NPCs seemed to mind me robbing the place. Lots of good stuff in those, including items that are helpful in preparation for this fight. Also, also: You should open and loot the hidden treasure-chamber. It's behind some sort of magical gem sitting on a wall and you'll need to pass two DCs to gain access. Behind it you'll find Mol's contract with Raphael (probably your own too if you took Raphael's deal), 666 GP (ha, ha) and the Spellpower staff - which is probably the second most useful staff in the game after the one you grab from Sourcerous Sundries. It's the only other staff I know of that comes with the Arcane Battery feature. Again: I was able to break into that room and loot it and nobody seemed to care. Also, also, also: You should probably be way more buffed up than in this video before starting the fight. From the top of my head of what my party had: Divine Blessing from the BG Tabernacle for everyone (+2 on saving throws), Hero's Feast/"thoroughly stuffed" (lvl 6 Cleric Spell... immunity to poison, disease, fear, max HP-increase and advantage on WIS saving throws ... should use it at the start of every day), Level 5 or 6 Aid on everyone (increases max HP until long rest by 20 or 25), Mystra's Blessing for all spellcasters (Staff of Arcance Blessing - lasts 10 turns but you can easily use the staff before the cut-scene, switch back to the character's regular weapon, start the dialogue and still have 6 or 7 rounds of blessing left at the start of the fight), spellcasters either take a lvl 4 elixir of Arcane Cultivation (extra spell-slot) or elixir of Battlemage's power (spells hit harder). For characters who deal large damage with melee or ranged weapons, use elixir of bloodlust (my berzerker Karlach really benefits from that) or elixir of viciousness (to increase chance of critical hits). With all that and the Über-Health amulet, my lvl 12 Fire Sorcerer Tav has over 170HP for example. His regular, non-buffed HP are just under 100, IIRC.

If you build Karlach right...she is all you need for this fight. I gave her the hill gloves, and had her get in his face, then had her chuck him i to the pillars to break them, it was fun to slam him into the pillars, even when he was transformed, i laughed almost every time she did it, because i didnt like Raph, xD

@Dredizzle Yeah, I love barbarian, I need to do a main character barbarian sometime. The damage dealt is also considered blunt, which if I recall does extra damage to the pillars, so it didn't take that long to burn them down, especially since my main was a storm cleric, so I had 2 clerics with spirit hammers, wyll with a cambion and elemental summon, and Karlach bashing him about the room, xD Loved the video, keep up the good work!
Thank you so much, I just literally beat him, 36% chance to hold him and it did work! he took so much damag, but he evetually died after about just 4 turns. You still have to defeat the other enemies, after Raphael is dead.

Completely forgot to slot the hold monster spell. Kicked myself about it but actually did it with all party members alive. Such a fun fight when you're prepared.
Dropped every side-kick I had, to include ghouls, wodes n sprite, and an air elemental. Blasted three towers so he couldn't get his tri-tower boost (I think just popping two diagonal towers would wreck that process). Snuck my bard behind a tower and did a "long rest" potion after most of the Cambions were dead as needed more Hold Monster. JAHIERA BEAT the crap outta stuff as polar bear. Had Hope perform the Divinity call and re-set "all as if long rest" with only one Cambion at 6 HP and Raph left. The EARLY use of the DOME DID make a solid difference. Had Hold Monster on both Bard TAV and Shadowheart. Overall solid information in the video; thanks
I'm so glad I reran BG3 to experience this story arc which I rejected outright first run. However, I wish Larion had made a better case for betraying the emperor. I feel it's ridiculous to betray someone who saved your life, gave amazing powers, even took you into their home to show your their deepest thoughts, and have no good reason to betray.

Yeah.. I also find his reasoning for switching sides if you do betray him a bit weird. He was all about defeating the brain all the time and now he just joins with it? I did steal the hammer this time, but I don't plan to use it. I don't really care about the Giths' plight. Plus they were trying to talk me into entering a pact with friggin Raphael for their own purposes. I also don't want to betray the Emperor and I don't want have anyone in my party turn into a mind-flayer. I guess it's nice to have the option for role-playing purposes... like if you want to play as a chaotic character or something.
thanks for the strategy! this battle was rough but defeated Raphael. The hold monster only held for one turn because he went soon after the wizard... so we just had to slowly fight Raphael. My wizard's magic missle did the trick to finish him off because it is an automatic hit. Also artistry of war and globe of invulneralbilty was crucial as well. Having the gaultets of the hill giant from the archive helped Lazel get some hits.
It depends on how long you can hold the concentration for tho. One hit and you can get knocked out of it. Just have to be mindful. Glad it helped you tho man!
I got my ass kicked first time round. Went back in and did it all again but this time strategically placed smokepowder barrels on all the pillars and where I knew Raphael would spawn. That worked fine.
Pro Tips: Placing bombs at all the pillars before the fight and just shoot arrows at all of them takes them all down in one turn. Then use scrolls/spell "Globe of Invulnerability" and stack your party in it, pushing any enemie out of it if they enter and just step outside if needed and attack, then retreat in. Also, using "Hold Monster" on Raphael makes easy CC on him while you finish up everyone else, then all hits are crits on him while he is CC:ed.

How I beat him without needing any healing: one character with the radiant orb build, another with sanctuary/moonbeam, and a couple of scrolls of Globe of invulnerability. I used my tav, Shadowheart, Astarion and Laezel. This was on honour mode. Cheesed it.
that's great man! I have to come back again try to tackle him with a more aggressive approach with fighters or barbarians than using hold person on him!
@Dredizzle Nice... I only used 2 unvulnerability bubble scholls. No other spells are needed. Pop the other one straight after the first one finishes. Make sure your team are all together at the start to activate them inside. It's a good idea to recruit Yurgir aswell. During the turns send your fighters to destroy the pillars and fly back into the bubble. Do the pillars one at a time.Have Hope heal the party when needed and get shadow heart to conjure an alli. You can push the enemies out of the bubble 🫧 to get damage on them. That's a proper fight 💪 Also steal the Amulet,helmet and gloves to put on shadow before you start the fight. Good luck 👍 oh yea turned my whole team so they can fly. Massive game changer if you went that route
I have a fighter class so I get extra moves. I bought a bunch of scrolls of shatter and scroll of ice storm and used those on the towers for as many moves as my personal character had, then used Halsin and gale to tank down the others which also really helped with the over all tone of the fight. Dont forget!! Hope has the ability of opulent revival- she can heal yall like a full rest for health and spell slots! I used that ability after I took Raphael down to half health and pretty much melted him with my fighter after that.
The Invulnerability Globe scroll came in clutch. Invulnerability + Mind Sanctuary (Illithid power) + Hold Monster + 2 characters with extra attacks and fight only lasted 2.5 rounds. 1. Cast Invulnerability 2. Cast Hold Monster 3. Cast Mind Sanctuary in front of Raphael 4. Moved attacking character into Mind Sanctuary bubble, then moved back to Invulnerability. Repeat next character. 5. Mind Sanctuary lets you use Action and Bonus interchangeably, essentially you can use them all as actions. I have a Ranger/Gloomstalker that has two Bonus Actions, Extra Attack, Dread Ambush (free attack) giving 7 crit attacks inside Mind Sanctuary on one turn.

so 1st thing: you can have pact weapons eldritch night or warlock 2nd you can use command drop for this cambions to drop their weapons and then they don't do their attack, however they (at least in my case) were picking up their weapons. and if you don't want to deal with that you can just get a nice monk build for this fightXD Also you can bring explosive and set them next to towers before the fight
For my 1st playthrough, i didn't know how to multiclass but i was able to take him out in 2 turns by casting Hold Monster on him with my bard dragonborn, and followed up with multiple melee crits with Karlach and Lae'zel and my dragonborn (college of swords subclass) on Tactician. But I'm looking forward to trying out other methods in my next playthrough.
Since Rapheal now have 1 turn stun immunity. High Charisma+High Initiative w/ Command spell really did the job at keeping the cambions and Rahpeal permastunned for me.
Before watching the video: *SPOILERS* (party composition: Wyll as warlock, Shadowheart as cleric, Karlach as barbarian w/ heavy armor feat and the 2 big items from the archive, and Tav as a rogue assassin) I had Shadowheart hit Yurgir with Xyanyde and miss, to get Faerie Fire on him and stop him turning invisible. Then, I had Hope revoke his guest status, while my Tav (Assassin Rogue) 1-hit Hope's sister (forget her name). We continued fighting the Cambions. Shadowheart was out of spell slots and Karlach out of rage charges by this point, so while fighting the Cambions I had Hope give the entire party (except Wyll, who was downed but had all his spell slots still, so eh) a long rest with Divine Intervention. That helped. I used smokepowder bombs, Guiding Bolt and Wyll's Eldritch Blast to get rid of the pillars after the Cambions were dealt with, then Hasted Karlach and set her, Wyll and Tav on killing Raphael, while Shadowheart and Hope healed any damage (which, aside from one fireball, wasn't that much).
I got dice luck and Yugir fight for me and survive. Now i got him again elder brain too. 😊 but yes i need too much time for the fight. So i m happy to find this Strategy too. It helps me for the next time 😊
IMHO Balduran sword won that fight. 3 attacks made by Lae'zel and 3 turns and Rafael was dead without hold monster. Lucky in first attempt:) even though I f..k up and casted Hase during Globe of Invulnerability was on Concentation anyway nice video m8!

Thanks, I just beat him today follow as your guide. Any chars high INT works well too, 3 hold monster scrolls are good enough. I think, runepowder place where raphael appears(I managed get 2 from Underdark) + Globe scrolls maybe good combo.
I managed to beat Raphael by killing Shadowheart oopps basically all the cambions gathered around her while leazel and my Tav ranger beat up Raphael as he cowererd in the corner like a kid in a playground. Spirit guardians did a lot of damage while gale was throwing bottles of water at the cambions and Shadowheart before unleashing that ice storm and taking them all out. Wiping that smug arrogant grin from his face was the most fun I've ever had in a game.
If you have a monk, Stunning Strike can immobilize Raphael every turn. Use Magic missile and/or eldritch blast to kill the pillars, and use your other characters to wipe out the adds. From what I could tell, Yurgir was pretty much meaningless no matter which side of the battle he was on.
stack up explosive barrels in the spots where the cambions spawn and use a character with insane initiative to blow them up on the first turn. makes the entire fight so much easier.
@@denverm7909 all throughout the game. there's loads in the goblin camp inside the temple, behind a locked door. plenty more to be found in the zhentarim hideout and the fireworks factory too. store them in your camp until you're ready to use them because they're really heavy.
This works! I've been stuck with this fight for WAY TOO LONG! Using this technique, Raphael was killed first attempt and all part members alive, as well as Hope. Thank you!
There I read a comment from a guy who had baited the Cambion out of the boss's room, and then with Astarion he closed the door with an arcane lock from the inside, and all the Cambion were left outside the room and the only thing left to do was kill Raphael hahaah It was the best thing I read and the smartest way to do this boss. He's one of the best bosses ever, and I think I've done the fight like 4 times already lmao. in my first game I went with 2 druids transformed into owlbears, and 8 invocations. The owlbears hits around 40 dmg to the towers so in 2 turns I destroyed all 4
Somehow I recruited Yurgir with a natural 20 on my first try, then on his very first turn, the big guy instantly shoots the runepowder bomb I left in the middle of the room, before Gale had a single chance to put up the Globe of Invulnerability. Still, the instant destruction of all 4 pillars really messed up Raph, and he only got off one decent attack before Gale locked him in a series of Hold Monsters for the rest of the fight. Karlach killed two Cambions in one swing, while Astarion and Jaheira took out the others in two turns. They weren't very tough. Then everybody slaughtered poor Raph as Gale cast Hold on him every round until it was over. I was expecting it to be much tougher, but without the runepowder bomb, it probably would have been.
I had to use my fucking divine help ability, sucks because you can only use it once, but hope and shadowheart had the ability so I made quick work of most of the enemies rather early on
idk if it was a bug but I had summon Planar Ally and chose dijini and his tornado just made him unable to cast or move the entire fight, even the 2nd phase. so he ended up melting.
First attempt i got murdered by those fire rays before i could go. Second attempt used scroll of darkness on my team to make them untargetable. Then i could pop off all my dumb shit.
This helped a lot, even though it wasn't this exact method that I ended up using. Globe of Invulnerability was the key to it though. I didn't have the scroll, but my wizard could cast it, and I had an item that gave me one use of a spell for free. So I was able to cast invulnerability twice in a row, for 6 total turns. I used hope to banish Yurgir and ignored the cambians. I used magic missile on Raphael for 100% hit chance, and sent my main wierdly tanky monk to rack up bludgeoning damage (Raphael is resistant to magic). I also had summoned an earth elemental before the fight started. I basically just kept my characters safe in the globe, while the cambians mostly attacked them fruitlessly, while slowly accumulating damage on Raphael, and hitting him with various prone and hold spells to slow him down.
U can still take Raphael’s deal and he gives u the hammer and u can still fo this quest with out having to yo go through the bs to get the hammer u already have it
my strategi for mobs, before battle start, stack explosive barrels. When the fight start. Put bubble on the barrels, move u character inside the bubble. Wait enemy stack arond. When bubble is over.. u telepor off and trow fire boooooommmm. all ded.
The easiest method is just park a bard next to him and lock him down with tasha, hold monster, etc. while you cream all the cambions and then chop him down like a tree. No one in my party ever took a single hit from him - he was locked in place, unable to fight, until he died. It was most entertaining.

I’ve never used that shield and I don’t have that spell or scroll whatsoever so I need to wait till I can level so I can learn that spell or try and find a scroll Plus all my guys are level 10 I think they were just too weak Because I died very quickly Another guy used those flaming barrels and put them all around the pillars and exploded them so before I go back, I’m gonna find like 12 flaming barrels. THAT’S AMAZING! I just found that spell on my second playthru with finding the book of the dead. That whole side arc with the environmental storytelling was awesome!
Its much easier if you take out all the other guys first then Raphael. They collectively do more damage than him. Have everyone drink a speed potion, or at least the melee characters. Give them all your best heal potions. I whooped his butt without any deaths, lvl 12, and with my main spellcaster having half her spell splots at the start.
Thanks for the tips! Really helped. What do those 4 pillars do? I set some bombs around them before the fight started and destroyed them ASAP. Also my hold monster scroll only had a 32% chance. Why would that be?
Yugrir is bugged on this fight for me… just standing there shivering looking like he’s in fear. But no debuff. Also during the talking with Raphael, he was like glowing. Just thought I’d throw it out there. But I went back to a re-save which didn’t fix this, he didn’t attack me regardless if I have him on my team or not
Managed to kill him first try without anyn of these tactics. The buffed deva with 150 health that shadowhart summoned came in clutch, he alone dealt somewhere upp to 200 damage in total to Raphael mearly on reactions and on 10% attack rolls that hit almost every time for some reason. This was the only instance in the game where I had luck on my side😂
I had fought him with Druid, Paladin, Warlock and My Barbarian... worst kind of dread ever in this fight😅 I fell all the fights we did in this act were design for this one fight
How did you kill the mobs getting Hope out of the dungeon up to the main fight. It was brutal, I tried to out run them and just ignore attacking them but they drained my health and spells. Do you just kill them all and go to the pool? I still won the fight with Rafael but it was brutal. Really have been dying to try it with the invulnerability bubble.
They’re the source of Raphael’s power. If you destroy them it weakens him a good bit I believe. in my play through I had no weapons to destroy those pillars unfortunately so I had to improvise
THIS STRAT DOESN’T WORK ANYMORE!!! Don’t know what update but Raphael has a perma-buff called “inevitable resolve”. He’ll break out of any hold or incapacitation after one turn so hold monster is useless.

That's imposible with the persuation :( My main character has only +1 to the dice roll (so 21 max) and for some reason it's not possible to select another character for this persuation roll. So I have absolutely no chance to persue Yurgir. Also I don't have an invulnerability scroll. My mage has this as a spell, but that means I can't use invulnerability bubble and hold monster spell both at once. Wow, this will be an extremely tough fight, I have no idea yet how I can make it. EDIT: Ok, I did it now (after 1 hour and a lot of reloads). The crucial key to this fight is really the hold monster spell to hold Raphael. If he manages to break the hold in his turn, just reload. Like this you can easily block him until the end of the fight. And use the banish spell of Hope, so you have 2 cambions less to deal with. With these 2 things, the fight is not so difficult, even if you couldn't persue the Yurgir.
yea hold monster and hold person really come in clutch most of the time man! Im hoping to do another run where I have 2 wizards in my party to increase the chances of holding more enemies in this fight along with the invulnerability spell. Hope the vid helped you out a little man. Thank you!!! 👍🏼
Haha sorry to hear that man! The fight is honestly very hard regardless and my method pretty sloppy I admit it but it worked for me in the end. Before I figured the invulnerability spell, i was dying in the first 2 turns LMAO. You have to make sure to hit raphael with every strong scroll or spells when he is held. The cambion are pretty annoying but manageable if you have a monk class in the party when get weapons dropped. Disintegrate, guiding bolt, or any fighter/barb/paladin hits are crucial for damage while he’s held since they’re all critical. Good luck man!
This strategy is unfortunately outdated after numerous updates to BG3. This was just my own trial and error of what worked in the beginning of my playthrough tbh.

You know what I did? I placed the runepowder bomb smack in the center of the room, used that invincibility dome to protect my team, and WHAM! That thing annihilated all of his minions, destroyed all 4 pillars and left him stunned. After that, I just held him and wacked him like a bitch.

Hope has banish which is a special kind of banish spell. It has 100% hit chance on the cambions and banishes them permanently from the house of hope. I believe she can use it twice in the fight
I did use that once or twice for the cambions but my primary focus was on killing raphael first. He was damaging my party way too much initially for me to focus on the cambions at first. Thanks for the feedback!

What you can also do is use the druid dinosaur transformation and spit acid at Raphael, that will make his AC armor go down slowly, then go to Karlach and smash his head with the hammer lmao
Hi I am a little old woman from Scotland and this is the first time I have played a game like this (Old? I am 60) I usually play things like Sims4. I managed to do everything in Avernus up to this point but cannot get further. I can't get Yurgir to side with me no matter how many times I reroll and my team gets wiped out every time. I have me, a druid, Gale, Astarion and Shadowheart. I have been trying every combination of spells and tactics (medieval history buff and years of Golden Eye on N64). I spent an entire afternoon on it but can't do it. I read The Necromancy of Thay so have some ghouls but they just get blown up (no fire resistance). I am about to give up, maybe start the whole thing again with a different team but would really like to not lose all of that gameplay. Today I am watching every playthrough on UA-cam until I get some advice relevant to my team. xxx
I did it!!!!! Finally got Yurgir on my side, turned the cambions into sheep and unleashed everything I had on Raphael. It took a while but I did it. Now to get Gortash and the final Netherstone. This is not just a game it is an experience. xxx

Damaging pillars seems to put some kind of debuff on Raphael that makes him basically useless far more than you'd expect. I started doing that since the beginning of the fight, you can use Deva summon (radiant + bludgeoning damage), earth elemental for bludgeoning, hasted warlock eldritch blast nearly destroys a pillar in one turn, also just a warrior with bludgeoning damage, but warrior is probably better used against cambions, hasted Lae'zel only needs a couple of turns to kill them all combined with hasted chain lightning from a spellcaster. Also Hope has an ability that one shots (permanently banishes) cambions. I got lucky that first big aoe hit from Raphael destroyed my dance macabre ghoul summons instead of my characters and after that i basically just destroyed everything at first attempt without even coming up with any particular strategy. I didn't even notice the annoying "drop weapon" skill from enemies cause they died too quickly for it to ever hit
Hey buddy! Thanks for the comment. Destroying the pillars definitely helps you alot in the fight. I didn’t even think about doing that since I would take way too much AoE damage from Raphael’s spell in the beginning. I found out that neutralizing him completely helped me the best. @Dredizzle not trying to tell you what to do... just sharing my own experience. My friend and I are doing a co op campaign with me as a circle of the moon druid and astarion as a dual crossbow ranger/thief. My buddy is playing a cleric and Laezel, no muti classing on either. We had ok gear, but nothing crazy. We used hope to divine wish a weapon that we gave to my cleric friend. Used bloodlust elixir on Astarion and concentration elixir on cleric.
We had dome of invulnerability scrolls. We didnt have invulnerable sphere, but the scroll is nicer IMO because the dome it puts down is much smaller. Which means it makes it very hard for anyone but your party to gain benefit. Those that do, just shove them out and kill. Put that up in the middle of the room, and moved all our characters into the dome. We persuaded the demon to fight with us which was funny because, in his effort to shove enemies out of the dome, he would shove us too. So we kept having to run back in. Then we worked on killing the pillars with Astarion handcrossbows/hope/cleric guiding bolt and keeping ourselves alive.
Was a close fight, but I can't believe how "easily" we did it. We somehow managed to do it our very first attempt with no quicksaves/loads. Lol it was a long fight, but very epic and fun. It felt kinda cheese, but being only lvl 11 with only somewhat decent gear, it seemed necessary. Not to mention felt like a cool way to kill him. Lol, house of hope was one of the first major things we did in act 3 so got TONS of upgrades doing it. Hella worth, but now I wonder if the game will feel trivial since we just beat one of the hardest bosses.
I beat him on tactician Willing him into submission : prepare summons . Hunger of Hadar , he hates that , it stops his flight. Run around the aoe and keep Eldritch Blasting him into it. Asap destroy pillars. Then minions. Send summons into the Hunger , heal from the sides and use range.
I don't remember what we (my party of friends) did, but we managed to get an outcome where Yurgir is with Raphael, but joins your side because he considers you an honorable hunter. That went a LONG way to helping us out because he was tanking the cambions like a beast.

It seems that the easiest way to win this fight is to combine globe of invulnerability to protect your guys with the most powerful runepowder explosion you can get your hands on. That will destroy the pillars and the cambions. Then, you could hold or dance Raphael to make it even more absurdly easy. You can even save the evil sister if you knock her out (nonlethal attack) and protected inside the globe (you can throw her around).

Your toons have no elixirs running, give karlach bloodlust and lae'zel giant hill strength, battlemage on casters...hold person/monster on raphael, -stats coating on weapon, enlarge on melee....etc etc etc. Let shadowheart cast her divine intervention (radiant damage) while in the bubble, it hits the whole room and doesn't trigger the cambion retaliation. Everyone should chug speed potions, fight is over in 2 turns.
Appreciate the tips! for my playthrough I had already used divine intervention unfortunately since it’s one time use spell. This fight was mostly improvisation until I found a way to survive. It was mostly trial and error for me. The main problem was the cambions weapon dropping attack combined with raphael’s AoE attack. that combo was doing way too much damage to my party unitl the invulnerability spell came into play for me. @@Dredizzle I played the game on normal first time and didn't prep before any fight, this one and a certain wizard had me reload. On tactician I play super conservative and prebuff alot of times, buy/craft alot of consumables. But I don't use the cheese tactics with camp hirelings for unlimited resistances. And I stay true to my RP rules I give myself. It's more fun if things go wrong and you bounce back by some clutch revive or mass heal :)
Globe of invulnerability really carries this fight... illithid powers+ aoe spells too. Black hole+ aoe+ cull the weak on and all adds explode. Especially sorc... other character uses black hole, then sorc casts 2x aoe and everything except raphael is gone
Hold monster/ otto's dance + perilous stakes on raphael
Can also use freecast/ the amulet that restores spell slot to cast heroes feast and then still have that lv.6 spell for a summon of whatever
The difference going in unprepared vs. buffed to the max/ with scrolls/ elixirs/ coatings is party wipe vs. walk in the park
I did this even a stranger way lol.... I defeated most of the enemies in the room and ended up with only one character alive.... What you do is take that character all the way to the healing room and let what's leftover follow you and kill them individually lol... Raphael doesn't follow...omg and you can destroy the pillars without him paying attention what's you get back in that room!........ps...just make sure you have enough revive scrolls....one last thing make sure you have all those angelic drinks to restore everything

I don't see either of them on you, but you should definitely steal that amulet of greater health and the gauntlets of hill giant strength. Both of which are in the same room as the Orphic Hammer. If you persuaded Helsik to grant you access to Avernus "for free" you need to steal the gauntlets anyway, so might as well grab both. Not sure what happens if you don't disarm the traps that are protecting them (my Minsc managed to disarm both), but they're incredibly powerful artifacts and you really want them. Just make sure you only steal them *after* you gained access to and looted Raphael's safe in the boudoir.
You should also lockpick/loot every single chest and container you can find in the House of Hope. I did this before any major plot-events happened and none of the NPCs seemed to mind me robbing the place. Lots of good stuff in those, including items that are helpful in preparation for this fight. Also, also: You should open and loot the hidden treasure-chamber. It's behind some sort of magical gem sitting on a wall and you'll need to pass two DCs to gain access. Behind it you'll find Mol's contract with Raphael (probably your own too if you took Raphael's deal), 666 GP (ha, ha) and the Spellpower staff - which is probably the second most useful staff in the game after the one you grab from Sourcerous Sundries. It's the only other staff I know of that comes with the Arcane Battery feature. Again: I was able to break into that room and loot it and nobody seemed to care.
Also, also, also: You should probably be way more buffed up than in this video before starting the fight. From the top of my head of what my party had: Divine Blessing from the BG Tabernacle for everyone (+2 on saving throws), Hero's Feast/"thoroughly stuffed" (lvl 6 Cleric Spell... immunity to poison, disease, fear, max HP-increase and advantage on WIS saving throws ... should use it at the start of every day), Level 5 or 6 Aid on everyone (increases max HP until long rest by 20 or 25), Mystra's Blessing for all spellcasters (Staff of Arcance Blessing - lasts 10 turns but you can easily use the staff before the cut-scene, switch back to the character's regular weapon, start the dialogue and still have 6 or 7 rounds of blessing left at the start of the fight), spellcasters either take a lvl 4 elixir of Arcane Cultivation (extra spell-slot) or elixir of Battlemage's power (spells hit harder). For characters who deal large damage with melee or ranged weapons, use elixir of bloodlust (my berzerker Karlach really benefits from that) or elixir of viciousness (to increase chance of critical hits). With all that and the Über-Health amulet, my lvl 12 Fire Sorcerer Tav has over 170HP for example. His regular, non-buffed HP are just under 100, IIRC.

I gave her the hill gloves, and had her get in his face, then had her chuck him i to the pillars to break them, it was fun to slam him into the pillars, even when he was transformed, i laughed almost every time she did it, because i didnt like Raph, xD

The damage dealt is also considered blunt, which if I recall does extra damage to the pillars, so it didn't take that long to burn them down, especially since my main was a storm cleric, so I had 2 clerics with spirit hammers, wyll with a cambion and elemental summon, and Karlach bashing him about the room, xD

Dropped every side-kick I had, to include ghouls, wodes n sprite, and an air elemental. Blasted three towers so he couldn't get his tri-tower boost (I think just popping two diagonal towers would wreck that process). Snuck my bard behind a tower and did a "long rest" potion after most of the Cambions were dead as needed more Hold Monster. JAHIERA BEAT the crap outta stuff as polar bear. Had Hope perform the Divinity call and re-set "all as if long rest" with only one Cambion at 6 HP and Raph left. The EARLY use of the DOME DID make a solid difference. Had Hold Monster on both Bard TAV and Shadowheart. Overall solid information in the video; thanks
I'm so glad I reran BG3 to experience this story arc which I rejected outright first run. However, I wish Larion had made a better case for betraying the emperor. I feel it's ridiculous to betray someone who saved your life, gave amazing powers, even took you into their home to show your their deepest thoughts, and have no good reason to betray.

Yeah.. I also find his reasoning for switching sides if you do betray him a bit weird. He was all about defeating the brain all the time and now he just joins with it? I did steal the hammer this time, but I don't plan to use it. I don't really care about the Giths' plight. Plus they were trying to talk me into entering a pact with friggin Raphael for their own purposes. I also don't want to betray the Emperor and I don't want have anyone in my party turn into a mind-flayer. I guess it's nice to have the option for role-playing purposes... like if you want to play as a chaotic character or something.
I feel like the fact he is a soulless abomination that would kill a “friend” with no hesitation is a pretty good reason to not side with the emperor
@1SaG you could just have Orpheus make the transformation, it makes the most sense anyway since he's prophesied as being the one to free his people.

thanks for the strategy! this battle was rough but defeated Raphael. The hold monster only held for one turn because he went soon after the wizard... so we just had to slowly fight Raphael. My wizard's magic missle did the trick to finish him off because it is an automatic hit. Also artistry of war and globe of invulneralbilty was crucial as well. Having the gaultets of the hill giant from the archive helped Lazel get some hits.
Just use hold monster on Raphael and then kill the rest... It last for 10 turns... Was an easy fight
It depends on how long you can hold the concentration for tho. One hit and you can get knocked out of it. Just have to be mindful. Glad it helped you tho man!
@@Dredizzle Also there is Sanctuary for holding concentration when you absolute have to.
I got my ass kicked first time round. Went back in and did it all again but this time strategically placed smokepowder barrels on all the pillars and where I knew Raphael would spawn. That worked fine.

Pro Tips:
Placing bombs at all the pillars before the fight and just shoot arrows at all of them takes them all down in one turn.
Then use scrolls/spell "Globe of Invulnerability" and stack your party in it, pushing any enemie out of it if they enter and just step outside if needed and attack, then retreat in.
Also, using "Hold Monster" on Raphael makes easy CC on him while you finish up everyone else, then all hits are crits on him while he is CC:ed.
I used sussur blooms, 4 of them, to mess with Raphael's ability to cast magic,and it worked! He was hoping like crazy to avoid them!
Necromancy build with summons + hold spell = very funny
Just full buff on the pool where you meet the incubus with all the clerics buffs and then summon all myrmidons and undead. And that's it

How I beat him without needing any healing: one character with the radiant orb build, another with sanctuary/moonbeam, and a couple of scrolls of Globe of invulnerability. I used my tav, Shadowheart, Astarion and Laezel. This was on honour mode. Cheesed it.
I completed it using 2 fighters, astarion and shadow. I was level 12 before I entered the lower city. Light work lol

@Dredizzle Nice... I only used 2 unvulnerability bubble scholls. No other spells are needed. Pop the other one straight after the first one finishes. Make sure your team are all together at the start to activate them inside. It's a good idea to recruit Yurgir aswell. During the turns send your fighters to destroy the pillars and fly back into the bubble. Do the pillars one at a time.Have Hope heal the party when needed and get shadow heart to conjure an alli. You can push the enemies out of the bubble 🫧 to get damage on them. That's a proper fight 💪 Also steal the Amulet,helmet and gloves to put on shadow before you start the fight. Good luck 👍 oh yea turned my whole team so they can fly. Massive game changer if you went that route
I have a fighter class so I get extra moves. I bought a bunch of scrolls of shatter and scroll of ice storm and used those on the towers for as many moves as my personal character had, then used Halsin and gale to tank down the others which also really helped with the over all tone of the fight. Dont forget!! Hope has the ability of opulent revival- she can heal yall like a full rest for health and spell slots! I used that ability after I took Raphael down to half health and pretty much melted him with my fighter after that.
The Invulnerability Globe scroll came in clutch. Invulnerability + Mind Sanctuary (Illithid power) + Hold Monster + 2 characters with extra attacks and fight only lasted 2.5 rounds.
1. Cast Invulnerability
2. Cast Hold Monster
3. Cast Mind Sanctuary in front of Raphael
4. Moved attacking character into Mind Sanctuary bubble, then moved back to Invulnerability. Repeat next character.
5. Mind Sanctuary lets you use Action and Bonus interchangeably, essentially you can use them all as actions. I have a Ranger/Gloomstalker that has two Bonus Actions, Extra Attack, Dread Ambush (free attack) giving 7 crit attacks inside Mind Sanctuary on one turn.

so 1st thing: you can have pact weapons eldritch night or warlock
2nd you can use command drop for this cambions to drop their weapons and then they don't do their attack, however they (at least in my case) were picking up their weapons.
and if you don't want to deal with that you can just get a nice monk build for this fightXD
Also you can bring explosive and set them next to towers before the fight
For my 1st playthrough, i didn't know how to multiclass but i was able to take him out in 2 turns by casting Hold Monster on him with my bard dragonborn, and followed up with multiple melee crits with Karlach and Lae'zel and my dragonborn (college of swords subclass) on Tactician. But I'm looking forward to trying out other methods in my next playthrough.
Since Rapheal now have 1 turn stun immunity. High Charisma+High Initiative w/ Command spell really did the job at keeping the cambions and Rahpeal permastunned for me.

Before watching the video: *SPOILERS* (party composition: Wyll as warlock, Shadowheart as cleric, Karlach as barbarian w/ heavy armor feat and the 2 big items from the archive, and Tav as a rogue assassin) I had Shadowheart hit Yurgir with Xyanyde and miss, to get Faerie Fire on him and stop him turning invisible. Then, I had Hope revoke his guest status, while my Tav (Assassin Rogue) 1-hit Hope's sister (forget her name). We continued fighting the Cambions. Shadowheart was out of spell slots and Karlach out of rage charges by this point, so while fighting the Cambions I had Hope give the entire party (except Wyll, who was downed but had all his spell slots still, so eh) a long rest with Divine Intervention. That helped. I used smokepowder bombs, Guiding Bolt and Wyll's Eldritch Blast to get rid of the pillars after the Cambions were dealt with, then Hasted Karlach and set her, Wyll and Tav on killing Raphael, while Shadowheart and Hope healed any damage (which, aside from one fireball, wasn't that much).
I got dice luck and Yugir fight for me and survive. Now i got him again elder brain too. 😊 but yes i need too much time for the fight. So i m happy to find this Strategy too. It helps me for the next time 😊
Goddamn. I had SH spamming Blind on Raphael to stop his move. It was tough and all of the members nearly killed.
IMHO Balduran sword won that fight. 3 attacks made by Lae'zel and 3 turns and Rafael was dead without hold monster. Lucky in first attempt:) even though I f..k up and casted Hase during Globe of Invulnerability was on Concentation anyway nice video m8!

Thanks, I just beat him today follow as your guide. Any chars high INT works well too, 3 hold monster scrolls are good enough. I think, runepowder place where raphael appears(I managed get 2 from Underdark) + Globe scrolls maybe good combo.
I managed to beat Raphael by killing Shadowheart oopps basically all the cambions gathered around her while leazel and my Tav ranger beat up Raphael as he cowererd in the corner like a kid in a playground. Spirit guardians did a lot of damage while gale was throwing bottles of water at the cambions and Shadowheart before unleashing that ice storm and taking them all out. Wiping that smug arrogant grin from his face was the most fun I've ever had in a game.

If you have a monk, Stunning Strike can immobilize Raphael every turn.
Use Magic missile and/or eldritch blast to kill the pillars, and use your other characters to wipe out the adds.
From what I could tell, Yurgir was pretty much meaningless no matter which side of the battle he was on.
stack up explosive barrels in the spots where the cambions spawn and use a character with insane initiative to blow them up on the first turn. makes the entire fight so much easier.

@@denverm7909 all throughout the game. there's loads in the goblin camp inside the temple, behind a locked door. plenty more to be found in the zhentarim hideout and the fireworks factory too. store them in your camp until you're ready to use them because they're really heavy.
This works! I've been stuck with this fight for WAY TOO LONG!
Using this technique, Raphael was killed first attempt and all part members alive, as well as Hope.

There I read a comment from a guy who had baited the Cambion out of the boss's room, and then with Astarion he closed the door with an arcane lock from the inside, and all the Cambion were left outside the room and the only thing left to do was kill Raphael hahaah It was the best thing I read and the smartest way to do this boss.
He's one of the best bosses ever, and I think I've done the fight like 4 times already lmao.
in my first game I went with 2 druids transformed into owlbears, and 8 invocations. The owlbears hits around 40 dmg to the towers so in 2 turns I destroyed all 4
Somehow I recruited Yurgir with a natural 20 on my first try, then on his very first turn, the big guy instantly shoots the runepowder bomb I left in the middle of the room, before Gale had a single chance to put up the Globe of Invulnerability. Still, the instant destruction of all 4 pillars really messed up Raph, and he only got off one decent attack before Gale locked him in a series of Hold Monsters for the rest of the fight. Karlach killed two Cambions in one swing, while Astarion and Jaheira took out the others in two turns. They weren't very tough. Then everybody slaughtered poor Raph as Gale cast Hold on him every round until it was over. I was expecting it to be much tougher, but without the runepowder bomb, it probably would have been.
i didn't kill yurgir earlier in the game. i stole what i needed from him and then ran. and he was still in raphs fight
The summon wood being spell dryad had two hp left and was burning. Raphael had 16 hp she wack him for 20 and die. Ultimate sacrifice.

tldr version; use invulnerable scroll and hide your caster that places hold monster on raph.
The issue is that that girl always wants to fight me after I save her
I had to use my fucking divine help ability, sucks because you can only use it once, but hope and shadowheart had the ability so I made quick work of most of the enemies rather early on
idk if it was a bug but I had summon Planar Ally and chose dijini and his tornado just made him unable to cast or move the entire fight, even the 2nd phase. so he ended up melting.
Don't forget Hope's "revoke membership" ability.
That will remove two combatants from the fight.
First attempt i got murdered by those fire rays before i could go. Second attempt used scroll of darkness on my team to make them untargetable. Then i could pop off all my dumb shit.

This helped a lot, even though it wasn't this exact method that I ended up using. Globe of Invulnerability was the key to it though. I didn't have the scroll, but my wizard could cast it, and I had an item that gave me one use of a spell for free. So I was able to cast invulnerability twice in a row, for 6 total turns. I used hope to banish Yurgir and ignored the cambians. I used magic missile on Raphael for 100% hit chance, and sent my main wierdly tanky monk to rack up bludgeoning damage (Raphael is resistant to magic). I also had summoned an earth elemental before the fight started.
I basically just kept my characters safe in the globe, while the cambians mostly attacked them fruitlessly, while slowly accumulating damage on Raphael, and hitting him with various prone and hold spells to slow him down.
Where did you find the Globe of Invulnerability scroll?
Hold monster is broken on ps5. He would be held for 1 turn then break free. This was an extremely challenging fight

U can still take Raphael’s deal and he gives u the hammer and u can still fo this quest with out having to yo go through the bs to get the hammer u already have it

my strategi for mobs, before battle start, stack explosive barrels. When the fight start. Put bubble on the barrels, move u character inside the bubble. Wait enemy stack arond. When bubble is over.. u telepor off and trow fire boooooommmm. all ded.
You just made this fight go from literally impossible to not only easy but extremely fun. Thanks dosnt do it.
The easiest method is just park a bard next to him and lock him down with tasha, hold monster, etc. while you cream all the cambions and then chop him down like a tree. No one in my party ever took a single hit from him - he was locked in place, unable to fight, until he died. It was most entertaining.

I’ve never used that shield and I don’t have that spell or scroll whatsoever so I need to wait till I can level so I can learn that spell or try and find a scroll Plus all my guys are level 10 I think they were just too weak Because I died very quickly Another guy used those flaming barrels and put them all around the pillars and exploded them so before I go back, I’m gonna find like 12 flaming barrels. Oh well. Thanks for your video.
I didn't used Bubble. Instead mass healed every round. Moonbeam is very useful also
i used the "necromancy of thay" ghoul summoning spell and raphal was permamently stun locked beacuse of their attacks haha
THAT’S AMAZING! I just found that spell on my second playthru with finding the book of the dead. That whole side arc with the environmental storytelling was awesome!

Its much easier if you take out all the other guys first then Raphael. They collectively do more damage than him. Have everyone drink a speed potion, or at least the melee characters. Give them all your best heal potions. I whooped his butt without any deaths, lvl 12, and with my main spellcaster having half her spell splots at the start.

Thanks for the tips! Really helped. What do those 4 pillars do? I set some bombs around them before the fight started and destroyed them ASAP. Also my hold monster scroll only had a 32% chance. Why would that be?
Yugrir is bugged on this fight for me… just standing there shivering looking like he’s in fear. But no debuff. Also during the talking with Raphael, he was like glowing. Just thought I’d throw it out there. But I went back to a re-save which didn’t fix this, he didn’t attack me regardless if I have him on my team or not

I dropped the difficulty in the middle of battle once I realized that destroying the pillers didn’t decrease his health😂

Managed to kill him first try without anyn of these tactics. The buffed deva with 150 health that shadowhart summoned came in clutch, he alone dealt somewhere upp to 200 damage in total to Raphael mearly on reactions and on 10% attack rolls that hit almost every time for some reason. This was the only instance in the game where I had luck on my side😂
I had fought him with Druid, Paladin, Warlock and My Barbarian... worst kind of dread ever in this fight😅

How did you kill the mobs getting Hope out of the dungeon up to the main fight. It was brutal, I tried to out run them and just ignore attacking them but they drained my health and spells. Do you just kill them all and go to the pool? I still won the fight with Rafael but it was brutal. Really have been dying to try it with the invulnerability bubble.
What are the pillars for?
When I fought him I destroyed them and beat him.
They’re the source of Raphael’s power. If you destroy them it weakens him a good bit I believe. in my play through I had no weapons to destroy those pillars unfortunately so I had to improvise

Don’t know what update but Raphael has a perma-buff called “inevitable resolve”. He’ll break out of any hold or incapacitation after one turn so hold monster is useless.

I did it without hold monster… I used Gale with hypnosis… killed all lower monster then pillars then Raphael…

That's imposible with the persuation :( My main character has only +1 to the dice roll (so 21 max) and for some reason it's not possible to select another character for this persuation roll. So I have absolutely no chance to persue Yurgir. Also I don't have an invulnerability scroll. My mage has this as a spell, but that means I can't use invulnerability bubble and hold monster spell both at once. Wow, this will be an extremely tough fight, I have no idea yet how I can make it. EDIT: Ok, I did it now (after 1 hour and a lot of reloads). The crucial key to this fight is really the hold monster spell to hold Raphael. If he manages to break the hold in his turn, just reload. Like this you can easily block him until the end of the fight. And use the banish spell of Hope, so you have 2 cambions less to deal with. With these 2 things, the fight is not so difficult, even if you couldn't persue the Yurgir.
yea hold monster and hold person really come in clutch most of the time man! Im hoping to do another run where I have 2 wizards in my party to increase the chances of holding more enemies in this fight along with the invulnerability spell. Hope the vid helped you out a little man. Thank you!!! 👍🏼

Haha sorry to hear that man! The fight is honestly very hard regardless and my method pretty sloppy I admit it but it worked for me in the end.
Before I figured the invulnerability spell, i was dying in the first 2 turns LMAO. You have to make sure to hit raphael with every strong scroll or spells when he is held. The cambion are pretty annoying but manageable if you have a monk class in the party when get weapons dropped. Disintegrate, guiding bolt, or any fighter/barb/paladin hits are crucial for damage while he’s held since they’re all critical. Good luck man!
