@@yasmeeniqbal7002 The common people's opinion about Pakistan is average today, most will consider Pakistan close in terms of religion but will judge harshly for it's action towards Bengalis upto 1971 and the war. People actually didn't hate Pakistan back then, the military of Pakistan didn't even recognize our mother tongue and when we rose up and protest for the injustices, they're brutal crackdown created destruction and hatred arousals which India took advantage of with (guerrillas) hence Bangladesh was born. Nowadays we have various opinion on the war and outcome, but one thing is unanimously agreed, Pakistani Army committed unspeakable atrocities and war crimes in 1971. (Though we don't blame the general population of West Pakistan)

Pakistan can't avoid the responsibility for which Bangladesh had no reason but to seek separation? once the separation was inevitable then we had to do what we did, you can't use those as a justification to what you did. I think, the professor on discussion would be knowing that Ch Rehmat Ali and Allama Iqbal never conceived of Bengal to be part of Muslim homeland for Indian Muslims. It was the area where Pakistan exists today. Bengali muslim leaders were tricked by Jinnah to join or even propose Pakistan to make himself a greater leader. This certainty was an unnatural alliance which did not last even for 25 years and Bengal ( E. Bengal) had to pay a very price for their independence.
Bangal and some other states which are the part of India today were included in the Ch. Rehmat's concept of Pakistan. You can consult "Rehmat Ali by KK Aziz" to know more about the Rehmat Ali's ideology about a independent Muslim country

Mukti Bahini was formed after 25 March 1971, when Bengali units of Army started defecting and then police, Border security forces and other para military forces joined them formed the core of Mukti Bahini, then the students and volunteers around the country joined with them. some were trained in Indian side but not all.

MuktiBahini helped Indian Army to reach Dhaka as fast as possible by engaging and fighting the Pakistani Army on the way while the Indian Army was allowed to bypass the pak defence. otherwise it would be impossible for any Army of the world to reach Dhaka in 10 days.@@biswajitdas-tg1ot
No India had nothing to do with Mukti Bahini, India helped to train and build a separate force named Mujeeb Bahini, who never took part in direct fights with Pak Army, this force was embedded into Indian army units for local knowledge of terrain and communication etc.
The Army Police Border forces of different Mukti Bahini forces were already trained so they didn't need Indians to train the civilian volunteers who joined these forces.

4) Legs shall be broken who proceeds to Dhaka to attend Assembly secession scheduled on 03-03-1971.
5 No central Govt shall be accepted without the Participation of PPP
6 On 25TH 1971, when operation search light was launched, he declared thanks God Pakistan has been saved,
7 During General Assembly secession, he tore out Poland resolution that was fantastic remedy viz a) immediate ceasefire 2) Forces of both the countries should retain 3rd December 1971 position 3) Rule of country be handed over democratically to Public representatives

Thanks for the much logical and realistic version of 1971 conflict and Independence War of Bangladesh. However, it would be great to focus on another area that is missing in this conversation. A large number of Bengali armed forces officers had started the armed struggle along with a good number of Bengali soldiers. That is the key success factor for the muktibahini and it was easier to accommodate civilian fighters under their command. There were 11 war sectors all headed by ex pak military officers and fought against Pakistan.

You failed to mention that India signed Friendship and Cooperation treaty with the Soviet Union in 1971, before daring to attack Pakistan.
I think Punjab was mainly responsible as the East Pakistan was discriminated against. They were not accepted as equal citizens. The situation with Sindh and Balochistan especially Sindhis and Balochis as ethnic communities is still the same. Punjab needs to revamp the federation. The defence need to be brought within civilian democratic control. Otherwise the things may not change for better. Almost all the economic resources in federation as well as provinces end up in Punjab. Most of the development contracts out of about 1000 bn development budget go to the Punjabi speaking big business houses. Public services in federation and authories are occupied by the big brother also. The politicians of smaller provinces are threatened and controlled by security services.

Professor seems strongly biased on the issue, wherever the Pakistani establishment was at fault professor sab express it as 'badkismati'. He seem to have strong conviction about two nation theory, mostly the Pakistanis spent more time to justify it that to have a neutral review.

Some interesting facts from a Pakistani--at least after 1/2 a century TRUTH is coming out but not all accurate or complete history. British India even agreed by Mountbatten was to be divided in three main areas-Muslim dominated West, Hindu dominated middle, and undivided Bengal proposed by Sarat Bose, Suhrawardy and others. However, Nehru and Patel sided with Hindu Mahashaba to divide Bengal and Punjab. Others would be princely states (including Nizam's Hyderabad). Jinnah was a good but selfish and fraudulent lawyer who wanted to be Chief of some entity. Gandhi asked Patel and Nehru to let Jinnah be the chief but Patel refused. Jinnah fooled Bengal and Biharis who came to the part closer to home but Jinnah never took them, poor guys,. Jinnah didn't speak Urdu either but Karachi had UP Muslims who were more educated than the landlords of Punjab. In 1757 Bengal was the richest region and therefore the British attacked the Nawab of Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Assam and built the city of Calcutta for business, taking the glory away from Dhaka--what a travesty of history.!
