The RS-24 Yars (RS - ракета стратегическая (strategic missile)) - modification 24) also known as RT-24 Yars or Topol'-MR (Russian: PC-24 «Ярс», NATO reporting name: SS-29 or SS-27 ) is a Russian MIRV-equipped, thermonuclear armed intercontinental ballistic missile first tested on May 29, 2007, after a secret military R&D project, to replace the older R-36 and UR-100N that have been in use for nearly 50 years.

The nuclear subs are fielded with the new bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles, while the air launch nukes kh 101and kh 102 have completely been upgraded and modernised. The latest from military experts is that Russia and US are at nuclear parity due to Russia's latest weapons: RS 28 , kinshal , zircon hypersonic missiles,avangard , and many other platforms like the burevestnik and the Poseidon nuclear torpedo.
