- Nādabhṛṅga brings you a collection of rare vintage video clippings from the archives, featuring the Tiruvaiyāṟu Tyāgarāja Ārādhanā, in connection with the 176th Ārādhanā of Sadguru Tyāgarāja. These clippings are from the years 1952, 1953, 1958, 1959, 1961 and 1964, in that order. The reverence and devotion with which the great musical Titans celebrated the Saint Bard of Tiruvaiyāṟu, is to be cherished for generations to come.
Unfortunately, almost all the clippings were without any soundtrack. So, we have added an excerpt of Mahāvidvān Śrīmān Ariyakkudi Ramanuja Iyengar's rendition of endarō mahānubhāvulu as the background music.
Nādabhṛṅga consists of a consortium of enthusiasts and collectors of Indian Classical Music who are intent on sharing good quality recordings of the erstwhile Masters from a compendium of archival recordings, carefully collected over several decades. The music we share here will hopefully serve as an archival source for current and future generations of musicians, students, aficionados and connoisseurs. In case of any copyright disputes, kindly contact us and we will remove the video. Nādabhṛṅga is NOT a monetized channel. Any ads that do feature here are due to third party copyright claims, which are unavoidable.

Very fine these are all i ve heard only in ail india radio during my school days iv e also learned allthe kirthanas navavaranam from my guru now i am 70 years old but this year i sang all these panchsrsthna krithis with them without notebook that is gods grace only but in those days it was very devotinal but now something is missing weve missed all senior vidwans including kunnakkudi
What a fantastic treasure trove you have given us Nadabhrnga! Thank you, a million times!! What a galaxy of stalwarts - Ariyakkudi, Musiri, Alathur Brothers, GNB, Semmangudi, Maharajapuram (both senior and junior), Madurai Mani Iyer, KVN, Embar Vijayaraghavachariar, Palghat Mani Iyer, Papa Venkataramiah, Rajamanickam Pillai, Chowdiah, Lalgudi, TNK, Palani Subramania Pillai, T K Murthy, MS, Brinda, etc., etc. One can keep watching this video on endless loop till the end of time! In the absence of time travel, you have brought us the next best thing! This is so far removed from the travesty going on in Tiruvaiyaru today. The divinity of the Aradhana has been permanently destroyed by the politicians, and the women folk (apparently, they are singers) who go there only to display their silk sarees and jewelry collections.
Thank you, Moudgaulyaji for identifying and calling out the names of Sangeetha kalaanidhis in the clip.
But you didn't identify any nadaswaram vidwan
too critical of women artists in particular .. Male artists may be there for personal promotion too
@@raghunandansrinivasan773 You're welcome. This list is by no means exhaustive. I am sure I have missed to name many greats in these videos.
@@ramraj22122 Unfortunately I do not have enough knowledge about their names. Please do enlighten us all.
1960 களில் நடந்த விழா என்று நினைக்கிறேன். எத்தனை இசை சக்ரவர்த்திகள்!!!
This is a total revelation. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this!
,அருமை இதுபோல் இப்போது இல்லையே.
What a gem!! To see the likes of ARI moving. Simply amazing. The only dark moment is when the commentator in English says "death" anniversary. just goes to show what an "agnyan and arasikan" he is. Many many thanks for this treasure
This is undoubtedly the best ever contribution by Nadabringha to real carnatic music lovers.
I could see almost every giant there.
Rajamanickam pillai and Mysore Chowdiah are among the violinists seen.
Palghat Mani iyer playing in Unchavrithi procession with Ariyakudi.
No words to describe.
I am speechless, at seeing all the gaints. Particularly Sri Ariyakudi thatha and Musiri mama. Their physical structures and the kind of sound and music that came out of them, have no relationship at all. I am speechless with wonder, that such powerful sounds and music was produced by such small built giants MAHAANS. Thank you so so very much for posting this video. Ever grateful to you.

sirumA manisargaL 🙏🙏 and am thrilled to see a young srI kvn sitting behind his guru, in the pancaratna ghOShTi gAnam 😁 must hv been a special find for you too (i suppose you are smt. Anuradha krishnamurthi, sri KVN's daughter)
@@varadharajanranganathan3761 yes sir. I am sri.k.v.n. sir's daughter.
@@anuradhakrishnamurthi9852 🙏🙏to you and sri kvn swAmy's dharmapatni. Not a day passes without listening to your father's music. Listening to him, singing with raghu sir by his side, is like mruta sanjIvani
@@varadharajanranganathan3761 . Yes sir you are right. Appa and raghu mama( that's how I have addressed him from childhood), have been the aadarsha bampathi in music and that came out soooo truthfully on stage. For both, their Faith and steadfastness to SATHYAM in music and the eekaagra chittham to their respective Gurus' path , was paramount . Just like their Gurus were the aadarsha bampathi on stage, these two were too. And like you all, I too have been witness to that " LOVE AFFAIR" they had with each other, where each flew free in his own sky , but always came down, so instinctively, incredibly , togeather. And the ever so slight smile they had between/with each other at that moment of oneness/togetherness, was the priceless joy that both them and we, have been blessed with , to witness and listen.
Infact, when I was a child, both appa and raghu mama, would be on the phone, after the concert, discussing their wah wah moments, being each other's mutual admiration society. They would also be talking about the moments when they bungled( to my ears , there wouldn't be a single moment, but strangely they would be discussing it!!!)
When appa passed away, raghu mama sat beside and said " எல்லா இடத்துக்கும் என்ன கூட்டிண்டு போவயே நாராயணஸாமி.... இதுக்கு மட்டும் என்ன விட்டுடு போய்டயே பா.."
Translation- "you took me to all places, but left me back , on this journey"....
Appa, when he was in the hospital, told raghu mama, that he may not live much longer.True to that , in 10 days he passed away. Very sorry to have shared this with you and upset you. But , this just came out, inadvertently and I couldn't stop it.
Very rare n precious video. Happy to see the legondary musicians sangita kala nidhis sri Musiri Subra manya iyer n Sri Ariyakkudi Ramanuja Iyyengar carrying the picture of Saint Thyagaraja in procession, accompanied by prof Sambamoorthy( with the turban).could identify sri Dhandapani Desikar siniging Sriraga Pancha ratnam.
No words to express my happiness seeing this video. Thank you Nadabhrnga. ❤️

Seriously this is a treasure..humble Namaskaarams 🙏🙏
Invaluable treasure! 🙏🙏🙏
Super all vidwans are there. Maharajapurammama ,lalgudi mama semmangudi mama etc all are present
Thank you for posting this precious vintage video! Feels so great to see our musical ancestors who have meticulously laid down the path for us. Also, this video proves to be a testimony of how far our women musicians have come in all these years from an essentially male-centric performance domain . Seeing MS Amma in the frontline at 3:41 gave me instant goosebumps and inspiration as to how much our yesteryear women musicians like Smt. MS Amma, Smt. MLV Amma, Smt. DKP, Smt. Brindamma and many others have courageously carried themselves and contributed to a woman's identity as a musician. Thanks again for the brilliant upload!
amazing very clear video this is a treasure

0:24 - 0:27 Is that Sri Alathur Venkatesa Iyer sitting to the right of Sri Madurai Mani Iyer?
Might be Vidwan Sattur AG Subramaniam?
@@shrikhar Sattur would have been 32 in 1952. The person in the video seems to be much older than that.
@@shreeraam_22 I’d attribute this to poor video quality and lighting. Build, hair match Sattur. 🤷🏻♂️
back when tamils still dressed like tamils, and dressed appropriately in the kovil...can bear the sight of men in jeans and techie polo shirts in sacred places....obvioiusly its whats in the heart that matters, we know that from kabir dasan, but still, respect your own culture....this is a great recording....
What a huge difference. Today I see lady singers with parlour make up and designer jewellery. Where are those bhakthi and simplicity?
It is ok. Move with the times.
@@dparamful Not ok. Divinity doesn't change with times.
If we have true Bhakthi our mind will not think or see other things . @@grajan1282
You are right. Now a days extravaganza over takes Bhakthi and simplicity. The audience of those days were highly knowledgeable too. Now politics, fancy, influence etc. rules.
