I am not a railway modeller but I can appreciate the skill and attention to detail that Richard brings to his hobby - and to his technical ability to produce videos - very enjoyable to watch, thank you
I agree. I tried and didn't really enjoy it as I don't have the patience but your stuff looks great and it's fun to have going in the background. Keep it up.
I am so impressed with your model. I am an ex BR employee ( 1965/2000 ) and drove electric trains on inner suburban london lines and recognise most of everything you have. Its the little bits like the familiar weeds that grow all over or the displaced troughing covers. We always laughed about knowing you were getting nearer to London as the graffitti and rubbish got closer together. Also the extraneous junk laying about near and on the tracks.👍
An absolute masterpiece. I am sure I am not the only one who looks forward to the notification of a new video and keenly watches your progress. Only shame is that it can never leave your loft, would be amazing to see your work at an exhibition.
The Devil is in the Details. I'm not a model railroader but I love watching your vids as they keep me inspired to constantly improve my modeling by paying such close attention to what some might consider inconsequential small detail. The beauty of such details is the life they impart to the project. Outstanding work and a pleasure to see the progress of the model.
An extremely relaxing viewing. No problem about waiting for glue to dry, gives time for tea and cake. With all these modern materials and scenic items this side of the hobby becomes really addictive. The water really brought that section alive. Carry on the good work
I have to say, I've been enjoying this channel for a few years, and I still love every update and am so glad you continue to provide us with instruction, inspiration, and entertainment. Thank you, good sir!
I really love that vibe with the litter and graffiti! I think it would be great to see old ASDA trolleys and stollen bicycles dumped in that drainage pond!
I am green of envy! I built Airfix models when I was a kid, 50 years ago, and the all looked like they had crashed in to a glue pit. Amazing layout and I have spent the last couple of days watching this channel, almost NON STOP
I'm not a railway modeller but the scene just takes me back to my days going up and down to Charing Cross from Orpington in the 1970's. Most of the commuters would have their head in their newspapers but I would be fascinated by the little scrap yards and graffiti that flashed by. Keep up the great work...so that I can just watch..
Hello Richard, Oh to have such a steady hand, one of the benefits of youth I guess. As "hellooo" below said your videos can never be too long and I agree because the amount of interest you manage to include in each video makes them so enjoyable to watch. Thanks heaps Richard. Cheers Greg
Haha, you got your reflection in the murky water then.😁 There's some excellent new camera angles there Richard. The close-ups of the urban railway are very effective.👍👌😁
Once again a modelling masterclass That retaining wall looks as its been there all along. Brilliant blending with the existing scenery and a nice tutorial on the retaining wall.
I always did like the attention to detail on the old layout. The new retaining walls, cable troffs and mixed ballast really bring out that slightly run down look of Britain's railways in the 80s and early 90s.
Your attention to detail is, as always, fantastic. Run your trains late, maybe, or offer a bus connection service to complete a journey... or simply cancel your trains all together to complete that 80’s feel. 👍🏼
If I might make a suggestion, dip the newspapers in a little tea or something to make them more brown like newsprint gets when it ages. Anyway, great work. You've got much more dedication than I do. It would take me decades to do what you get done in a few months.
Fabulous video. That water around the drain and in the ditch looks superb and finishes that area beautifully. The retaining walls are excellent and the detail around the area just completes the effect. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills with us, it gives us something to aspire to. Roy.
Hi Richard thanks for sharing an interesting and enjoyable packed detailed video (PS never too long). Always a pleasure to watch your clips looking forward to the next, take care and please stay safe..
The attention to every last minute detail is why I love this layout so much. As a fellow modeller, I can appreciate the time, effort and thought that is going into Everard Junction....oh! and it's 80s too. My era!
Wow! Wow! Wow! Richard. This really is looking stunning. One would have to say you have a natural gift for this. Thanks for sharing, thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheers, Bob
Wonderful attention to detail it really makes the layout come "Alive". Loved the discarded newspapers. It's really taking off now it's a layout that you can keep working on for a few years yet I suspect.
What a great look and feel Everard Junction has. Most interesting to be let into the thoughts and skills behind the construction. Lovely camera work in the intro. Wouldn't want to live in the bottom 2 stories of the block of flats, though. Congratulations and thanks for posting.
It is an absolute education watching you working on your layout. These videos from yourself and others are such a great help to me just starting out in the hobby,at 56 😬
I've been a follower for a few years now. I admire your enthusiasm and attention to detail. Thank you. Its always a joy to see a video crop up on my timeline. Join? What join? Loved the water. Excellent.
Evening Richard. Well worth waiting for. That dirty water looks absolutely fantastic 👍🏻 Short video concept is really good as you’ve packed lots in with good tips 😀
Your attention to detail and the time and effort you put in to your layout is really paying off. Really good video work and editing too. I loved the ending with the reflection of the passing trains in the pond water, before panning up to the actual loco and wagons. Nice touch.
Its always the small details that bring a layout layout life, and yours is no exception Richard, what stunning detail. Wish I was as good scenic modeller as you were. Keep up the good work and stay safe James
The detail is fantastic. It's just a shame that the model vehicle makers can't pay as much attention to detail and provide a simple button to turn off the tail lights when coupling a loco to a train. In the rail industry (in Britain anyway) a tail light indicates "train complete." A very important part of the operating procedure. Signalmen in the old manual boxes would ALWAYS stop a train if the driver had forgotten to turn off the loco tail lights (or the intermediate tail lights on two coupled Units.) For me, as a former footplate man of 30+ years, it spoils not just Richard's layout but the many other splendid layouts on view around UA-cam.
@@cyberdonblue4413 It bugs me as well I have a few locos that have a switch underneath to turn them off but with DCC it should not be a problem for them to make a switchable function Another idiotic thing is locos with the leading cab light on. No way a driver would do that.
@@cyberdonblue4413 Very annoying with my Hornby locos. The other manufacturers have such a feature and I make use of it. Hornby have been lagging behind the dcc features for some time time now.
I'm amazed more and more, every time I watch a video of yours, you are truly gifted with an eye for detail. AMAZING... It is like you have shrunk the real world..
I am supposed to be renovating my Audi A6 Allroad C5 2002, in my yard, but decided to have a little look at your video - but became 'hooked', 'mesmerised' even, and forgot about doing my car . ! Your excellent video presentations and the soundtrack you use are dangerously addictive, from someone who is an amateur film maker (currently nursing a nasty trapped nerve in his back!). I am thinking will I have time to produce and edit films, renovate my car and become a railway modeller, all at the same time! Richard - you are a master at railway modelling!
Well done on that retaining wall. I was super impressed at how it went into place the looked like it had always been there. That's the mark of someone good at their craft!
I must say Richard your layout is one to admire, I just love the realism. I’ve been following for some years and the layout is really evolving from the first one. The introduction was also a nice watch. Great work and would love to add some of the tips you have shared on the branch to my layout. Thank you for you continued effort and time putting these videos together. Andy
Great update Richard thanks. I love your updates so real to life with the detail and running. I agree so much time drying yet just as long editing videos but you make it look effortless well done lad and thanks for spending the time
The new road surface looks a lot better than did the photo paper. This is probably the most realistic layout I've seen fro the ones I've watched on UA-cam. I bet it looks stunning in real life...
Mouldy Raspberry's Yorkshire Dales layout, whilst very different, is excellent too, with similar imagination and attention to detail. Both he and Richard are inspiring modellers. ua-cam.com/channels/Pb9_WPXrSj96rxxfciOTog.html
@@speleokeir It's funny you should leave this comment, I only read your reply today as UA-cam seems not to notify me anymore of replies. Only last night 22nd May, did I get recommended a Mouldy Raspberry video. It was a part 2 of a layout. Brilliant detailing and I subscribed and left a comment. You are right, he also is very impressive with what he does.
did not fully appreciate the sleeper spacing until now - looks so much more realistic with what you have undertaken. i don't find the videos too long at all.
you are doing GREAT JOB but what worry's me the most is what happens when you finish the build i cant see you just sitting watching the trains go around the big fun for you is the build hope you have more space where you can start another keep up the work and i hope it takes you a couple of years more to finish
Quite liked the look of a bit of greenery (a bit, not all of it) on top of the coping stones on the retaining wall around the relay boxes: you do get mosses and even small plants growing on stone/concrete tops like that. That litter must be one of the best products SMS do!
What is there not to like about this video.... as always I am Amazed with the attention to detail and the artistic styling of every little detail. Wonderful stuff. Too Long..... rubbish, its never long enough and you did get some reflection in your standing water.

Amazing how the retaining wall has improved the background proper.
Plus you can nearly hear the frogs
I think we'll have to call that fella in the flats 'Balcony Bloke' :) He's certainly got the best view in the house. Thanks for another great video.
Balcony Bert? Did he move to a different balcony at one point, or was that my imagination?

An early finish from work, lovely roast dinner and an Everard Junction video - a perfect Sunday 👍
The layout is looking amazing.

Or in the canal.
I have some bikes, trolleys and extra litter for that bit. Certainly looks a bit too clean there at the moment. Cheers
Sehr authentisch👍die neue Mauer, der kleine Kanal perfekt gestaltet.Der Schrottplatz ist auch super gestaltet 😀 sehr interessante Anlage.Thanks.
Perfect viewing for a Sunday evening, love how the layout has been coming together since the restart
Arguably one of the best detailed layouts currently on UA-cam!

Cheers John, glad it brought back some memories. I'm the same when travelling by train. Always interested in the details that flash past.
In my opinion Everard Junction is the most realistic model railway on UA-cam, well done 👏
The tiny newspapers are a marvelous touch!
Nice to see you back on form again Richard, great video as usual. Keep it up, you inspire people like me. Cheers Graham 👍
Thanks Graham, glad you enjoyed it!
Adding layers of detail can only improve a layout, that is given Richards amazing skill level!
