The average person breaks several of these silly federal laws on a daily basis. These laws aren’t enforced because no one knows about them. However, if someone in power wanted to arrest a particular citizen, they could easily do so.
Exactly, selective enforcement should void a law. This would automatically clean up the law books and prevent government from selectively punishing political enemies/people the government doesn't like. Wow, I actually knew one of these. The tire pressure gauge. You need to deflate the tires pretty low so they float on the sand. Have a tire sit in the sun for hours on end at the beach and you can easily add 10-20 PSI to whatever is in the tire cold. When you are talking about needing to take the tire down to 5 PSI just to drive on the sand there, that can easily mean the difference between driving and digging a hole. tbh, the stuff they require people to have and do in order to go out on the national seashore there are all pretty good things that help keep people from just going "well this has 4wd!!!!" and just driving straight into writing off their vehicle as the tide comes in and swallows the helpless vehicle. You can almost hear the metal of the car screaming out for its owner to help it as the merciless salt water slowly tortures it to death.
The only way this could be better is have the cops dressed like they are in real life. Blue, ties, and police hats? No, my friends, plate carrier, half a dozen mags on the belt, tac boots, and maybe a uniform color that: "projects a distinctly authoritative presence appropriate for domestic operations". That last part is from marketing material for multi-cam black, aimed at LE.
Before Qualified Immunity: Police officer saves you from a bomb threat and the department gets sued for everything they're worth because they broke your back. After Qualified Immunity: Police officer breaks all of your limbs during a routine traffic stop and the lawsuit gets thrown out.
Um, that's not how qualified immunity works. The Courts have to give it to you if you were doing your job correctly, otherwise you don't get it. This prevents non-stop frivolous lawsuits that would make policing impossible.
