      Do you think CISM is a smart idea if you have 10 to 15 years of executive experience in another field and doing a mid life transition along with your course, Google, and Security plus? Also, does your course and Google prepare you completely for Security plus or will you need to do additional resources?

    I think the CCNA or even the CompTIA N+ are also good certs to have in addition to the CyberSec certs. I managed to get into CyberSec with just a Security+ cert but while in the field I quickly realized that having an understanding of how networks work even if you don't know how to configure them greatly helped in my career

    nice video, great content! i have 6 of these certs, but still i find it difficult to compare this 1on1. the oscp f.e. is a totally different cert than crisc. i have them both, but the knowledge, work and mentality is real different. the cissp is without a doubt the gold standard for cyber security, but for pentesting the oscp is on the same level, while for example the CCNA (which is on my list to get) is more of an basic allrounder. tbh in europe where i live i cant remember i have seen any of the comptia certs in job listings, although i think they are great.

    So... if there were a credibility aspect introduced, this list would be a little better.
    Barrier to entry, credibility, proof of capability, etc, would be more fulfilling of a cert list.
    Assuming all things are equal, this is great!
    Understanding they arent, nuance is necessary.
    I have ISC2 CC, Sec+, CYSA+, Pentest+, CASP+, and continue to get denied. Why? Real technical experience. What can I do? Well... nothing, BUT I HAVE CERTS LOOK!
    The Pentest+ is a barrier to entry cert for a position, but I'd need OSCP (proof of capability) to prove I'm worth being considered. (Outside of a portfolio, and other types of co sidersble experience).

    • @Animoh-
      @Animoh- Рік тому

      Great info! Thanks

    • @cyberlocc
      @cyberlocc Рік тому

      I have never heard of Pentest+ being a barrier to entry cert?
      If you want to be in red teaming you need an OSCP, thats pretty much just reality.
      What's funny, is that I worked in IT 12 years ago, with goals to become a PT. At the time, I had Cybersec friends, and PT mentors and even then it was OSCP if you wanted to be a PT.
      Fast forward, a career change (still did IT work in other job) and back into IT, and that dream is alive again. Backtrack became Kali, and OSCP is still required. So much changes and so much stays the same.
      And thats a large reality with these Certs, why do OSCP, Security Plus, and CISSP hold so much weight? Because they held that same weight 12 years ago. And that statement, of being the gold standard 12 years ago, was also true then.
      All these news certs, new courses, ect they will never match Certs that have been the gold standard since the 90s, they can't, too much time too much knowledge of their existence.

If not can I just get cloud certs in that situation?

    I guess I can't argue with the list but real hackers hate CEH. It's a bullshit exam with a bullshit price. But HR managers don't know any different so they think it's worthy. Ashame things like OSCP or TCM certs aren't more widely accepted as decent certs. With that said....Pen Test+ is taking over the CEH and becoming known a lot more in the space since it's cost less and the exam is considered harder than CEH.

    • @cyberlocc
      @cyberlocc Рік тому +2

      OSCP is the Gold Standard PT cert. Don't know why you think it isn't widely accepted?
      You have ever seen a Job positing for Pentesting that didn't include the OSCP?
      CEH has more postings because it covers more than just PT, and so it's listed under other Cyber Sec jobs.
      TCM is never going to be adopted like CEH or OSCP, they have been gold standard for over 20 years, that's why they are where they are. Time means alot.
