Your shawl turned out beautifully, even with a curl to the edge. This is a great time of year for birding. I had a lot of fun with the Merlin app last spring - so many species passing through.
Oh yes love the Merlin app too! It makes it all so much easier 😃
Thrilled to hear you're joining the wonderful world of birding... it's such a delight, I'm obsessed 😆🦆🦅🦚🦤🦩🦜 Now it's the best time of the year to start: they're already very active singing, and even nesting in some cases, and there are still no leaves on the trees, so... they can't hide 😉
Yes!! I’m very excited for the spring migration to be in full swing 😃 the bird club I joined has so many fun activities going on this spring too which I’m looking forward to!
I recently got into birding as well. If you're heading to the North Shore I'd recommend stopping at Park Point and walk the lake all the way down and take the woods back. There are lots of birding opportunities there and it's a nice little walk.
I am headed to north shore 😃 that’ll be a nice halfway spot to stop for a walk. Thank you for the recommendation!
your scout shawl is so lovely! the fiber & art subscription looks pretty cool--I'm excited to see how your yarns turn out!
Birding is so fun… it’s never ending, each season is different, and there’s so much to discover when you travel too❤. Your dress is lovely, and the top you are wearing too ! Can’t wait to hear abt your upcoming spindles
Thank you so much!! Birding has been great and I’m excited to have a whole new element to pay attention to when I’m outside 😃
Yay I loved watching this while working on my Moby sweater, I love your taste so much and you have quickly become my favorite knitting channel :-)
Wow, thank you!
I adore the flannel dress you sewed 😍 and whenever I see your underarm tattoo I really want to get a fish poked myself 🐟 it’s such a fun one!
Thank you Marlene ☺️ you should totally get a fish tattoo!! It’s my favorite one. I’ve seen so many other cool ones in the world too!
@@brookwillow I really might have to! didn’t you also get a new one hand poked recently? my first couple were and I would love to get some more in the future! 〰️
@@marleneknits I sure did! It was my first stick n poke and I love it!
Thank you for another lovely and inspiring episode 💜🙏
All of your colorwork projects are so inspiring! The scout shawl is incredible!! 💛
That is so sweet, thank you! 😊
I absolutely loved this episode. I feel very like minded. I too am in an ailbiona cast on mood- just swatched for the tonn pullover and bought yarn for the 6×2 pullover. She is my favourite designer. Your scout shawl is a masterpiece and so interesting to hear about your spinning too. Off to look at binoculars online as I have got into bird recording on the merlin app
Yayyy I’m glad you’re into birding too! It’s so fun 😃 I finished the Versal a few days ago and I’m in love. Excited to knit more Ailbiona patterns in the future!
Ahna !!! I love the green of your sweater as well, it’s perfect . A favorite bird app for us is Merlin . You can record bird song / cry’s and it will identify the individual birds . It’s amazing and free from the Cornell ornithologists. Cheers
Ohhh yes I use Merlin too! Bird Shazam! Haha. It’s been so useful ☺️ Cornell also puts on live feeder watches on their UA-cam channel that I really like if you haven’t checked that out yet I recommend it!
I had a great time watching! I love birding. Ive been trying to log the birds of Arkansas that I see.
birding and knitting/crochet are my two main hobbies so I was so excited to hear you say you're getting into birding!!! be careful because it's a slippery slope 😂 you picked the best time to get into it too with spring migration on the way :DDD and the part about becoming more observant of nature is so true. when you start learning bird calls/songs it feels like learning a whole new language!
ps I absolutely love your scout shawl
Your excitement for birding adds to my excitement for it too! 😃 I 1000% believe it’s slippery slope. I was even thinking the other day “how long until I get into bird photography” haha.
I really enjoy your videos. I have a suggestion about your issues with the dress you just made. I think you need more fabric across your bust and back, but to check just try this, with the dress on open the top 2 or 3 buttons and the dress will probably spread releasing the tightness across the front, but also see if the folds at the back from the shoulder to the armhole go away too, these folds point to any tightness. Just my observations and trying to help. Please don’t think I am being critical. best wishes, Cynthia in UK
I read this as very helpful and not cynical at all 🙂 and I think you’re right because the top button is working extra hard to stay in place! I don’t know how to fix it from here though. Thank you for your advice!
Your Scout shawl is really pretty and I def need to check out the pattern. I recommend the show “All Creatures Great and Small.” I love all the knit sweaters and especially all the color work and cabled vests the men wear under their suits. There are even more sweaters in the last season and new ones for each episode. They must have a knitter on staff that makes all of them because they look new. The scenery is so green and beautiful, it makes me want to visit Yorkshire. Enjoy your upcoming trip and knitting and spinning.
I’ve been loving the sweaters in season one and am even more excited to see them in the coming seasons as well! 😃
Wow, your scout shawl turned out so pretty.
Thank you so much 😊
The Scout shawl has been on my “someday” list for some time! Yours is so beautiful. I appreciate the comments on the edging. I think an icord would probably be the best option. For me, I would also consider skipping the edging altogether, then picking up and knitting a 2x2 ribbed border. I have not skied at all this year either (in MN)! But we have already been out on the bikes, so I’m embracing that 😊
I think the 2x2 rib would be even better too! What a great idea. I feel like that would hold so much better structure. And yay for bike riding at least! 😃
So excited to watch this morning ❤❤❤❤
Yayyy 🥰
The Scout you made is so beautiful! I’m in love with it! 🩵 It seems still a bit difficult for my skill-level but you’ve motivated me 😊
Aww I bet you can do it! Just take it nice and slow ☺️
