It’s perfection in a tank. Literally almost looks like you took a slice of the Great Barrier Reef and put it in your tank. I’ve been really hesitant in getting into the salt water hobby but this video may just be the selling point for me.

Great video! You’re a man after my own heart. I have a 40 breeder, no skimmer, no sump, just filtration and a nicrew 36” led reef light. Been going for 2 years. The amount of coralline algae is off the charts and my water is clear as can be. The days of me spending a fortune on all the bells and whistles are gone. I just don’t see the need for them. I’ve been slowly adding easy to keep corals and it is running tip top shape. Keep up the great work!

I decided to get back into saltwater after a 30 year absence. There sure is a lot of fancy& high priced gadgets out there. One quote I got for the full ride, except coral & fish, RS Reefer 170 G2+ was $1800. That's a bit more than what I want to spend.I like the simplicity of you tank and much more cost effective

So I have 4 kids, just bought a tank and enough salt plus a filter. I know I need more and the water will take roughly a month before it’s pristine for anemone and or fish.
This setup seems to be ideal for our situation but we want to place the tank in the living room which never gets direct sunlight. Was curious if indirect sunlight is goin to be an issue or not at all. Super stoked to finally getvstarted

I have a tropical 145 litres tank with a canister filter. I like to convert it to saltwater tank. What is an ideal system that i can have saltwater aquarium with my canister filter?! Is it better to run another canister or protein skimmer?
    Thanks

I would say HOB filter is best. Canisters can be nitrate collections

I have a 55g with no sump or skimmer. I have the stock t5 bulbs and some blue LEDs that I bought. Its keeping my corals alive but not really seeing any growth. Do you think I should get another ight??

Is that 165w mars aqua enough to grow a beginner sps on a 40b? I'm really tight on budget and I only have 1 for my up coming 40 breeder.

Without a dosing regiment it may be difficult to grow SPS but not entirely impossible

Hey Mike. always enjoy watching your video. may i ask whats you circulation pump and wave makers for 67 gallon reef tank? ( its 48x18x18 inches) im having plans to have a setup almost like yours. thanks

I would use to JW-8’s. One on both sides. They sync together so they’ll go off opposite of each other. That would be my suggestion. Thanks for watching

Did you have any gross algae or diatoms ever in this tank? If so any advice on controlling them is appreciated. Started a tank about 2 months ago (thanks to you!) and battling some of that brownish algae now

It’s new tank syndrome. Try and make sure you have flow everywhere and cut back on feeding if you can
