You can simply slave a 100 watt head''s power section with the Hotone's preamp section by running a cable from the effects loop send on the Hotone to the larger amp's effects loop return and basically turn the Hotone into a 100 watt amp.
Eric, I just checked out your band on UA-cam and you guys sound really good man, Congrats.
Also sweet review on this mini head! I too own this head for bedroom levels. I agree, this head alone can't stand up to a drummer but I just got the 5150 version and ran both of them through my Mesa 412 and it does in fact hold strong against a drumset. I uploaded a video yesterday to demonstrate if you wanna check it out.
Keep us posted on your bands progress, hopefully I get a chance to see you guys Live.
Thanks for another great video man
Great demo and review, one way if u want it louder I found is to hook up the send loop into a power amp and it sounds amazing, I used a 40 watt power amp into a 2x12 and it was absolutely great.....i also connected the send into a cab emulator into my audio interface and it was a breeze for recording....also a tube screamer in front really improves it more
Cool review. Thanks for the info. I was looking for a cool practice amp.
That smoke bomb in the intro sounds awesome!
Line out of the Heart Attack into the return on the 6534+ amp head and then you can use the presence and resonance knobs (part of power amp section) to further shape the Heart Attack's tone.
the opening has ensured you my subscription :D
10/10 on that new intro
Derek Collazo thanks!
Bro lovin the intro
Pierce Wilkins thank you my photographer is a mam of many talents:)
man, you are my favorite youtuber and inspiration here, along with ola englund. I have been subscribed for years now haha
Arthur Martins thank you so much! and ola is becoming one of my favorites now always watched him.
Good review, although where this bad-boy really shines is when you run the FX send out into a tube power amp (and into good cabinets). I'm currently experimenting with mine through a Peavey Classic 60/60 tube poweramp (using only one channel) and into a 1x10 Marshall cabinet (from my Lead 12 mini-stack) and it sounds absolutely amazing I also sometimes do the same but running through my Crate Stealth using the clean channel (basically using it like a pedal) and through my Dean Markley 4x12, it sounds absolutely incredible for super heavy types of metal. The versatility of this amp is simply mind-blowing for the price. Your review was good, but it really only barely tapped into all the possibilities. Hotone knows what they're doing as now they make these nano amps combined as duos and in a pedal board format with reverb (and with a higher wattage amp). They're going to seriously dominate the low-end amp market. I would have killed for their products 20 years ago when I was a working musician and doing session work.
I don’t use tube Amps they don’t have the crunch I like just use Ibanez tube scammer for that warm sound imo
@@SavitTheGoalie All tube amps sound different. But if you know what sound you like then that's all the matters. Personally I usually prefer the sound of a good tube amp for rich metal sounds. Tube screamer doesn't give me that although I do use a tube screamer as a volume boost to tighten up the amp distortion. I use it also into this hotone amp for the same reason. The Hotone is the only non-tube amp that I use. My Crate Stealth is my main amp which I absolutely love.
@@wigon I just don’t see the point of buying a more fragile amp I hated every tube amp I ever owned because I hate waiting 10 minutes before I can play the replacement of tubes a weaker sound imo and harder to fix
i was thinking of buying this thing, going DI and using some impulse cabs while i save for a physical cabinet. Would this be good for that kind of thing?
same, if you ever find out let me know
Awesome intro!
Saqib Shabir thannnk you!
I have one and with a decent EQ pedal in the FX loop I can make it sound just like a Rectifier.
Psycho Mantis video?
Great playing - is the Hotone going directly into your recording setup or are you miking a cab?
0:30
Intro yeah!
Glad you lIke it!
Hey does anyone know I'm a very beginning guitar player but I'm trying to upgrade for my shity fenderI really don't understand all the technical shit can somebody just tell me what speaker cab this thing can take I'm looking to get a used Marshall one so like what a 1x8 or 2x12 I don't know what all the Watts or whatever the hell OHMS even means I just need the measurements
I reccomend going with the 2x12, so you can just continue using it when you upgrade to a bigger amp.
Is it better than the Orange Micro Terror? Does the low end on this amp sound better than the Micro Terror is my question.
definitely. the micro terror/dark are all over the place on the low end
I think the mirco dark is better if your going to be jamming with drummer. It sounds good to crank. This sounds good at lower volumes
Eric Shreds Thank you for your reply. As you stated, it has an effects loop so for $100 and a power converter you could still make noise even if your power goes out.
I may have to look into getting one of these.
Maybe because of the high volume compression thing, but i really just couldnt get anything out of the micro dark that i liked for metal, which is why i got a joyo zombie. That head has its own problems...no clarity, lack of mids and highs, too much bass
How does this hotone compare to micro dark?
The hotone runs circles around the dark or micro terror
That is dope as fuck!
just scored one for $70, gonna try it as a preamp on 50 watt tube randall and on its own through 412
I never tried it slaving it with my Randall, did not need to its loud enough for my jam room. Cleans up actually pretty decent using guitar volume rolled way down.
Are those hotone amps actually good and is there any clean ones?
(Sorry for bad english;)
I have the purple wind one and it actually sounds pretty good cranked.
Not sure if you ever got answered, but the hotone siva boogie is an awesome clean amp that is an amazing pedal platform.
nice intro, but why do you have a fidget spinner
Why does everyone have a fidget spinner? hhaa thats the real question
X.T. music He used the fidget spinner in the video thumbnail to show how small the amp was by comparison.
He's got metal in his lip. When you see one, expect the other, too.
I'm a blues guy but that sounds great!
Duh of course you wopuldn't use it against a drum kit, it's just a $100 tiny practice head. And Rectifier isn't really clean on clean channel, so that's a quite accurate emulation in a way.
I own a "purple wind" version of it, hooked up to my 1x12. Apparently we see those heads completely differently, ha. For me that's just a good practice amp. The only thing that's annoying is that loud pop it makes when turned on. But overall yeah, good product for its size!
Oh yeah, that intro looks sick!
Maybe you should try the joyo zombie
t_separator. Yes ive been trying to find one used to VS my orange micro dark
Eric Shreds nice. Had the VIVO but dont let it fool you. It doesn’t sound anything like the 5150(3). If you grab one, take the zombie. The VIVO, doesn’t do metal well.
Dude you look like a young Jeff Pilson from Dokken
Great videos man. What ever negative stuff you read in the comment section just ignore and do you.
Intro is badass
Smokehill thank you!!
hey man, check out the katana head from boss! Cheers
Not loud enough for your band? Attach a booster pedal and crank it 10 decibels or more and you'll blow your windows out with this thing.
Sounds like butt. Gonna pass here.
No clarity to speak of.
How about doing a real amp Test and get rid of that garbage pedals.
Geezzz 🙄
Aaaaaand there‘s the butt hurt snob. Thanks for joining in.
@MaSSa Power
You totally missed the point of this product. Then again, it seems like you can't comprehend even simple stuff
that intro is kinda cringe bruh.
