I love Ola's rhythm playing so much! Especially parts like 0:33 where he just slides between chords so effortlessly. You make it look much easier than it is man!
Yeah, he looks like he has almost no tension in his fretting hand. Takes a lot of practice and getting used to one's gear. Even on guitars I know and love I still tend to cramp up fairly easily when playing for a while.
Man, the Joyo sounds a thousand times better than the Peavey Piranha. Way tighter low end and much stronger mid range. Good job Ola! Keep up the good work.
I agree. I don't have a Zombie yet nut I love the sounds on this demo. Ive had 2 Piranhas. 1 blew up, the other had a short and tried to take some of my other stuff with it. I SO wanted to like the Peavey. Ive had some of their larger stuff and it was really good. There is a local place in town that has two used Bantamps- a Blue and a Zombie I. Im thinking of pick up both. Im a sucker for micro tube amplifiers.
I got one of these amps, sounds great. Be sure to get a good shielded cable. The one that comes with the amp isn't shielded & causes microphonic squealling.
@@temillo4104 Yes it works without other equipment. Just need the amp & a cable to your instrument. The cable that is provided is a guitar cable, cheaply made. Recommend using high quality cables.
Sounds great, but would have liked to hear the headphone (i.e. speaker sim) recorded, so see if it's usable for late night recording. Thanks, as always, for the work you put into these demos Ola!
I have this amp and it sounds totally killer. put TS in front and its pure death and thrash. I thought it was going to suck but i was very surprised at how dam good it sounds. Do not even look at the Orange products, this slays them. It is nice and tight and crunchy and has plenty of low end. It really is a great value. It also sounds pissed with an HM2.
Just picked one of these up secondhand for $100 and I'm blown away. Had some serious doubts with this thing but I'm pretty sure its the best gear purchase I've made.
Great demo! I had a Micro Dark and I'm now seriously considering getting this. Thanks Ola, you're great as always! Thanks Joyo, nice to have choices and variety. Great sounding little amp.
Man!.. the things they are starting to come out with. Loving it and can't wait to see what competing brands come out with in the future. Ultimate portable amps are the future. Kemper maybe leading?
what's wrong with sludge? lol I love my dark terror, and yeah adding a Mason of 808 on that head cleans it right up and pushes it hard. honestly think it's a matter of opinion, I've never liked my distortion to be crystal clear, only my cleans, as I play doom and stoner metal like high on fire and electric wizard.
I bought this thing after trying lots of mini heads, not expecting much. But it completely blew me away. The sound is absolutely massive. It's basically the sound of a Mesa Boogie rectifier only brighter and with a much tighter low end. Great for (home) recording. For me yet another reminder that big brands and high prices don't mean shit.
My buddy bought this after watching Ola's video. It's a one trick pony but sounds really good, don't let the 20watts fool you. It was plently loud enough to play with a drummer going through a 2x12
Tonight I brought home the Zombie, Meteor, and the Atomic for a try out running each item straight into my Marshall 1922 cab. I expected to prefer the atomic but found it to have the least guts (by far) out of the three. I also expected to NOT prefer the zombie but it proved me wrong. The meteor was great too, but the zombie albeit aggressive sounding can be tamed! It has a very precise low end where the meteor's bottom is a little messy. Don't get me wrong, the meteor is great but I am buying the Zombie tomorrow! Even sounds great on very low volume, seriously honest sound, product!
I put an EQ before the input and take out 80-250hz by a few DB - this has the same effect as rolling the bass back on a real Mark series or dual rec. I genuinely couldn't believe the sound from this thing after that - SO GOOD.
I believe the preamp section is not fully tube. Theres got to be either some transistor clean boost or diode clipping to get so much distortion. But in your hands Ola, its sounds awsome!
Awer Tyuiop you are right sir, he's using the "djent" chords used in soul burn (an tons of meshuggah songs to be fair). That's literally where the term "djent" came from, from those chords
I saw your Chug video for the Joyo Zombie and bought one. Just got it and haven’t plugged it in yet. I used my Musicians Friend points before they expired. Only payed 60 dollars, surprised these are so inexpensive. Thanks, Ola. This will be quieter than my 150W triple rectifier Plus it chugged in less than 40 seconds
hey ola its been a few years since you revisited this video and i think its time for a new joyo amp review !! and you are the man for the job because i know that you will do an honest review as always. thanks and greetings from south alabama USA.
You are my go-to person for gear reviews because you make everything sound good. The problem is that you make anything you touch sound good so now I have no idea which I should buy. Jerk.
I just bought one, it sounds better than any Mesa i ever owned. The only minor criticism I have, and it is VERY minor, but I wish it had more EQ adjustments. The default EQ curve coming out of this unit has a big midrange boost. It has a treble knob, of which you can adjust, , but the midrange boost remains...The midrange boost kinda reminds me of the old Tom Shultz Rockman, but not quite as extreme. If you buy this, and chose to tailor your sound (like i do) you are probably going to want to buy a EQ pedal to either run in front, or in the effects loop. As for the distortion this thing produces, this thing sounds impressive! Kind of the perfect overdrive tone, as far as I'm concerned. Although, if your favorite tones includes effects like delay, etc, you will need buy those extra and run them through the effects loop.
Hi Ola, Will you test the Mjolnir from Joyo ? This one is already really impressive ! Nice Video ! Love the little clean riff you always play at first =)
The problem is it might sounds awesome just because Ola plays it ^^ Anyway I think that during the record of the new The Haunted, he might have programmed some videos to be released but might not have demoed all JOYO stuff !
these little amps are really cool! I would love to use this in a live situation but, unfortunately, there is no channel switching pedal option. I don't know how much of a price difference it would make to build it with this option but, man if that would be a huge difference!
That solo tone in the backing track was genuinely great. Can you bypass that power section? That pre bolted on to a 100 watter could make my (Jeff) waters break.
That really sounds incredibly good! Do you have to have it connected to a load or can you use it without a cab attached and just use the headphone out into your interface? Couldn't see any details on the Joyo website. Looking for a second amp to run a small stereo or wet/dry set up and this could work.
I'm curious how the stereo sound is being done. I would prefer that these reviews also include a single track so you can make a better judgment about the amp. It seems that every review like this I see is using multi-tracked guitars.
Oh my GOD! I am SO glad I came across this video. This thing sounds AMAZING! And with NO BOOST! Soooo...this thing has got me to wondering. Joyo made a mini amp which basically clones the lead channel of a Rectifier and sells it for less than two bills. If they set their minds to it, what could they make for $500? I'd say a pretty mind blowing high gain amp.
This tube preamp and solid state power amp concept seems to become a thing in 2017. Probably because of the success that Orange had with their mini amp. It sounds really good for that pricetag...
Devanthar Back when I started playing in the late '90s it was more common than now. But there are more and more every quarter. It's kind of funny to see tube/SS hybrids make somewhat of a comeback all these years later.

Definitely i cant chug that much without boost with cut in bass..i tried EQ pedal in FX loop but it sounds better before it, i made V1 Kraken clone and into cheap LM386 stage it sounds great but into this not so much, especially into clean channel, into dirty its much better
JOJO is the best
What a beautiful duwang
jotaro is best joyo.
If you had a telecaster, you could say "What a beautiful twang"
ora ora?
JOJO rocks :) Joyo is pretty good too.
Ola's reviews are awesome....But the problem is...he can plug a guitar into a dog poop and make it sound good.
Jajaja Ola Rules!!! greetings from Argentina!!!
that's because 90% comes for knowing how to play!
he knows how to record and mix...this is the secret.
Some riffs are simple though and they simply show the tone without impressive playing
There is a pedal now that looks like a poop. He now can plug into a poop and sound good 😂.
Man, the Joyo sounds a thousand times better than the Peavey Piranha. Way tighter low end and much stronger mid range. Good job Ola! Keep up the good work.

When that tone is maxed, it does not get fizzy on the highs. It amplifies some usable high frequencies. Great amp!
I'm in a financial bind and I have to sell my Orange tube head, do you own the JoYo?
@@toemasmeems bro get it, it needs an overdrive but other than that it's great.
I got one of these amps, sounds great. Be sure to get a good shielded cable. The one that comes with the amp isn't shielded & causes microphonic squealling.
That’s a guitar cable then…..
I'm guessing they gave a speaker cable and you're using it as an instrument/guitar cable....
can you use this amp whithout other equipment like other amp to make it work?
@@temillo4104 Yes it works without other equipment. Just need the amp & a cable to your instrument. The cable that is provided is a guitar cable, cheaply made. Recommend using high quality cables.
@@jrjrdiablo_the_devils_advocate what type of amp do you use? or can you recommend me one? is it active or passive?
Sounds killer! I used to have their Ultimate Drive and only parted with it when I got a real OCD. Solid products from a solid company
Sounds great, but would have liked to hear the headphone (i.e. speaker sim) recorded, so see if it's usable for late night recording. Thanks, as always, for the work you put into these demos Ola!

Orange is for that typical British Sound. Which fuckin sucks.
UrbanDanger ! Exactly. What am i supposed to play with that, The Who? Why would i want to do that?
Bought this thing a few weeks back - this thing is great. Nuff said.
This makes Peavey's Piranha sound like a clown fish.
Maxx61 it does that perfectly well on its own :)
Baahaahaa!
I actually like Both.
Well, both Zombie and Piranha eat human flesh.
The Piranha has been swallowed by a shark in this video.
Just picked one of these up secondhand for $100 and I'm blown away. Had some serious doubts with this thing but I'm pretty sure its the best gear purchase I've made.
This amp nails the tone I was looking for. It shits against the other similar competition for the price
Kemper maybe leading?
finally a tiny metal amp other than the super muddy dark terror. Hate the orange mini amps. Fairly overrated. This is a really great amp!
Eh there was the mini rectifier as well but it costs an arm and a leg
yeah that was even a bit sludgy compared to this. But then again that is an actual trait of the rectifier series. Nothing a tube screamer cant fix.
Add a tubescreamer dude, thats the whole reason why metal players use OD pedals, to take the muddiness out
what's wrong with sludge? lol I love my dark terror, and yeah adding a Mason of 808 on that head cleans it right up and pushes it hard. honestly think it's a matter of opinion, I've never liked my distortion to be crystal clear, only my cleans, as I play doom and stoner metal like high on fire and electric wizard.
sorry meant to say Maxon OD 808

No im dead serious. We just played live with them this week. ..They worked great
Just watched Spectre Sound Studios video on it- he measured around 110 decibels at full volume. More than plenty to play with a drummer
What the heck. That sound from that little toaster? Awesome
I have one of these. It is awesome. I run it through a Mesa 4x12. It is surprisingly loud for how small it is.
Tonight I brought home the Zombie, Meteor, and the Atomic for a try out running each item straight into my Marshall 1922 cab. Yeah, that only tube is used just to color the sound a little in order to make it "warmer", but it's essentially a solid state pre-amp.
Sounds great! But I'm fairly convinced Ola can make anything sound awesome!
2:40 Those chugs are awesome. To me it sounds like the "Destroy Erase Improve" album from Meshuggah (Soul Burn to be specific).

This one is already really impressive !
Nice Video !
Love the little clean riff you always play at first =)
Flo Dust I want this too, only just discovered they have a "Mjölnir" amp, either way I hope it's awesome
Flo Dust
I was just about to mention that amp, would definitely love to hear Ola demo the Mjolnir!
The problem is it might sounds awesome just because Ola plays it ^^
Anyway I think that during the record of the new The Haunted, he might have programmed some videos to be released but might not have demoed all JOYO stuff !
Yes please! I have had a find time finding a Mjolnir demo that didn't feature a horrid guitarist!
The things you can get for cheap now, amazing!
at 1:21 is the lick of 2017 damn that one lick was amazing ola.
Definitely the best bang for your buck Mesaish sounding amp around.
Of the the sickest amps you've ever demoed.

Get the xl, comes with a footswitch
what a great sounding amp. love it
I really like the closed captions made me smile thanks
That amp sounds badass!
Sounds the best of the mini amp attack going around lately. Might have to actually snag one of these.
Finally OLA showed something not too expensive.
Honestly, if you had tracked a whole album with this I wouldn't have know it had been this little thing. :-)
is it me or ola can make anything sound good
Awesome demo, ola...that amp sound killer. \m/
Hi Ola. Your videos make me feel better during my recovery, thanks man. GAS again :)
Im digging the color of the guitar. awesome video as always
Antenna for communication with Elvis
Hade varit gött med en review på Mjolnir också. Den här verkar sakna möjlighet till footswitch?
Just recived mine today and fuck i am impressed..........although i have a dsl 2000 this little amp sound amazing.
That solo tone in the backing track was genuinely great. Can you bypass that power section? That pre bolted on to a 100 watter could make my (Jeff) waters break.
Still playing the same warm up chuggy riffs from back then til now :D
Would have liked to hear more than 4 seconds of the clean channel.
Great video. This looks like just what I'm looking for. Great demo. Props.
Joyo Zombie sounds so fucking badass! What a killer amp! And Ola is a badass Metal guitarist!😎🤘🤘🤘
You thought it was the joyo zombie
BUT IT WAS ME DIOO!
Holy shit this thing sounds beastly!
Great sound, will buy one now
Wow I really like the sound!!!
Always loved that song
Love this thing. It's a great practice amp. 👍
Wow, sounds good.
Damn i like the Slayer esque of the tone. Do a Slayer cover Ola!
Hey Ola, great vid! Quick question - this or the Orange Micro Dark Terror?
Ola, you can make anything sounds good.
Wow this little thing is hella impressive! x'D
holy shit this amp just sounds kick ass with the small size massive tone
Can you do a video where you put this up against an orange micro dark.
Steamboat Willie yes please
Check out my channel, I uploaded a comparison!
Dylan Taylor I watched the video. It was not very good.
The Zombie is definitely better if you're looking for a raw metal sound.
Fuck orange
Should i throw my blackstar HT Metal 1 out of the window? im boosting it with an Ibanez Mini TS....This Joyo sounds boogie boogie
Yeah blackstar is junk
Mega Blaster amp kicks ass! \m/
So mutch more heavy sounding than the micro dark i almost orderd.Thanx.
sounds great! do you think the headphone out is useful for recording? those speaker sims tend to sound very fizzy imo.
Looks and sounds awesome for the price :) If possible, could you also review the Mjolnir by the same company? It looks interesting :)
Linus Stenberg sounds killer really chunky
The problem with the Bluetooth is that it sounds so low and when you play the guitar , the guitar almost dominates the sounds of the backing track...
Aris Koskinas yeah I just got mine today and that was the one issue I have with it
That really sounds incredibly good!
Do you have to have it connected to a load or can you use it without a cab attached and just use the headphone out into your interface? Couldn't see any details on the Joyo website. Looking for a second amp to run a small stereo or wet/dry set up and this could work.

Have you... Have you checked the Joyo Mjolnir?
Joyo usually makes very good stuff for a reasonable price.
really good, the sound is so big and obscure.

WOW! Great demo. I didn't know this even existed till this video. Can you achieve " Jam with a drummer " volume with this amp and your 212 cab?
This tube preamp and solid state power amp concept seems to become a thing in 2017. Probably because of the success that Orange had with their mini amp. It sounds really good for that pricetag...
Devanthar Just use jfet for preamp. It works just fine if not better than tubes actually. eg amt preamps.
It's been done many times in the past, just not in this pocket size. Marshall did it, Laney did it etc.
Devanthar Back when I started playing in the late '90s it was more common than now. But there are more and more every quarter. It's kind of funny to see tube/SS hybrids make somewhat of a comeback all these years later.
Yeah, I wasn't quite specific. I meant those "pocket sized hybrid amps".
Devanthar Indeed, the increase in lunchbox heads and combos is great. I would've killed for an amp like this twenty years ago! Alas, I made do with a Fender Performer 1000 back in the day. Good beginners' hybrid amp for the time, but it's a clunky relic compared to these new ones.
Imo this sounds a lot more like old ola lol love this
Woww, sounds awesome!
OD with low gain sounds creepy. Amazing little bastard.
Using this mini amp for home. Replaced china tube with ecc83s from JJ. Get great thight sound
Damn Ola,why you make everything sound so good?
Hey Ola I have the Xl version of this and found it has an ECC83s in it and I experimented by taking out the short plate tube and replced it with a normal 12AX7 (svetlana brand) and it has turned it into a whole different beast give it a try and post a video of the comparison.
very good demo
getting this one soon...
sounds great
Everyone comments on how loud these can get but can you play it at low volume and still have quality sound?
Tiny amp with a big sound, coolness.
Bought it before Christmas but im not sure about tone control, it doesnt have much trebles and not sure if its because of my pickups but it doesnt have that much gain...im only one? Definitely i cant chug that much without boost with cut in bass..i tried EQ pedal in FX loop but it sounds better before it, i made V1 Kraken clone and into cheap LM386 stage it sounds great but into this not so much, especially into clean channel, into dirty its much better

Ola, let me tell you this: You sound like a member of Westcoast Custom at Pimp My Ride.
Mega Blaster, for sure
