    A few things since I have a 2007 Silverado LT 1500 Ext Cab...
    1. GET A TUNE. I tuned my truck to run on 87 octane. You'd be surprised how far off the factory tune is. Also, who ever tunes it, tell them to change the charging section of the tune to run at 13 volts. You're welcome. You can thank me later. Lol.
    2. Does your truck have stabilitrak? Well, if it does, you just effed your stabilitrak up by spinning the wheel like that. Some eople were commenting about the clock spring also. Find someone with a Tech II or compatible device and see what the steering wheel position is. If it's off, you'll have to remove the shaft again, center it using the Tech II clear the codes using the Tech II.
    3. There a debate about whether or not the AFM disable saves the lifters. That being said, I tuned mine off. Lol.
    4. The stock truck brakes SUCK when towing a heavy load (like a car). There is no factory upgrade for the front brakes unfortunately (unless you want to spend money on Baer or Wilwood) but there is a rear disc brake conversion kit available and you don't even have to pull the axles out to make the swap. I will be swapping my rear drums to disk soon enough...

    That truck looks nice! Pretty much identical to Dad's 2012 Suburban on features. Definitely weird the steering wheel was upside down, and seems a little pricey to me for such a high mileage vehicle, but it is a top of the line truck in all fairness. Kinda thinking the dealer started fixing it, but kept having weird issues come up with it (probably cause it's got a lot of miles), so they got tired of messing with it and decided to just sell it cheapish. Hopefully this one holds up well for you, especially if that transmission is actually new.

    Seems like a decent truck but it always sucks when sellers/dealers hide issues and make bad repairs.
    Would be cool if you could find a clean bed and swap it out, and clean up the frame while the bed is off. Looking forward to seeing more work on this one.
    And be careful spinning your steering wheel like that with the shaft disconnected, you can easily break your clock spring.

    • @jeremybennett5547
      @jeremybennett5547 2 роки тому +3

      More than likely was a trade in to the dealer, with repairs done by previous owner.
      With that kinda mileage and body work needing done a truck like that isn’t a priority to a dealer they just want to get it out of their inventory because there $$$ for them is in the nicer trucks.

    Not a bad truck at all for $5500, especially one you drove home at a longer distance than just across town......and got pulled over in within the 1st 2-3 hours of ownership!! 🤓
    Frame patch on drivers side seemed well done, compared to SOME of the hackery out there. One thing I noticed when you got to the passenger side to look under at the exhaust, the passenger side frame rail where it arches upward for the rear axle, seems to have a bit of frame concern that you might want to patch, it looked lifted on the bottom edge, over my screen anyway.
    Good grab though!!👍

    Not bad for a 4 wheel drive , shes a bit crusty in places. Make sure that you do a good job on the frame, in VT a welded frame is a no go for a proper state safety inspection. My GMC Sierra had 270,000 miles on it when I traded it in. It had a little lifter tick at 150,000 , I started adding a bottle of Marvel Mystery oil every oil change. The lifter ticking stopped within 1000 miles and I never had an issue after replacing a quart of motor oil with Marvel at every oil change. Another place to check the frame is by the gas tank, they like to rust there.. Hopefully you get a lot of use out of the truck. I love the 4wd in them , I set mine on the auto mode and simply left it there.

    Take fluid film, an amazon pack sells 3 or 6 for 40-80$ and it includes a snake hose, use it and spray it in your rocker pannels. Lanolin based and protects your rockers from existing and more corrosion

    In 2007 Active Fuel Management (AFM) cylinder deactivation was known as Displacement on Demand (DOD). Watch out for oil consumption in 2007-2008 models as the lifters could be problematic. My 2007 and would consume 3+ quarts between oil changes. I bought a Hypertech system and overrode the cylinder deactivation and was able to cut the consumption in half. Just make sure you keep the oil topped off. And also check the coil & oil lines to make sure they’re not weeping. My oil pan seal went bad 3 years ago or so too and was spotting oil until I had that replaced.
    She did make it to 110K+ miles without changing lifters or anything excessive. I traded in last year.
    I guarantee that you have rust under the fender flares on the rear tires as well.

    Thanks for the video, It's kinda interesting watching you spray foam and bondo rocker panels on a truck you're selling and then buying one like it yourself. Then say about the frame being welded after you said about it not being legal in Vermont for inspection in a video. Hopefully the old truck stays together with some work and it's reliable. There is something way off with the dealer though selling the truck like that, i wonder what his other stocks really like, after a good look and ownership for a while. Take care

I would definitely check out what’s lurking underneath that frame patch even though it looks like they did a decent job on it. With the market the way it is right now , you know what you were getting and what your paying for. With your knowledge you’ll be fine with it. Do another video on what the code is for on the check engine light is on. Miles don’t scare me either. They don’t “change their mind” I worked in a body shop for 3 years (when I was 18-21) what happens is they write the estimate then it goes to the tear down/supplement phase where the body tech checks for internal damage and writes a supplement which gets added to the estimate.
    So let’s say u rear end someone and the estimator might write up replace front bumper, grill, repair hood if it’s not that bad but the estimator may not be able to see if the impact bar or radiator is damaged but the body tech will see it when they do the tear down.
    And usually the threshold is around 80% of the cars value but depends on insurance company. So if your at let’s say the car is worth 10k and an estimate for 7k is written if the body tech finds 1k+ worth of damage it’s totaled if it’s less then the repair must go on
    When I was parts manager we had about 6k worth of parts for a single car it was like a higher end dodge ram near its total loss threshold. That 6k is for parts only not for repair or paint cost. Tech did a tear down and the tear down put it over the threshold and it was not fun returning all $6k worth of parts

    Andrew cataracts would just put deck screws to hold that wheel fender back on and that’s how you repair a truck cheap plastic garbage.

    Looks decent, they leak like a seize tho. Unless someone's done the rear main expect to replace that unless you don't mind the oil drops. Sounds like your exhaust manifold bolts are still intact which is a big plus. They're nice trucks little thirsty but that's a 4wd v8

    That is the weirdest stuff to have wrong with a truck! Upside down steering wheel, missing wiper arm, hack job exhaust and a horrible frame patch. I personally would stay far away from that truck and the hack job dealer. But you Usually seem to always figure things out so you'll probably come out on top. Up here in Ontario you can buy a 07 Silverado 1/2 ton with low mileage and in better shape than that for $5500 because gas prices are so high ($4.75/a gallon) the 1/2 ton truck market took a huge crash. Diesel is also up way way higher than gas (6.85/gallon) so funny enough the 3/4 ton gas truck market is booming.

      @chynacash3138 2 роки тому

      Sounds like the Ontario market is alot different from pretty much anywhere in the U.S. since these GM trucks command high prices virtually everywhere here lol. Less miles and in better shape for $5,500? Buy them all and import them here, you'll make a killing. Even this exact Silverado is worth about a grand more than he paid for it here in Detroit and that's before he even made any improvements.

    So were you concerned about the previous owners not having an AFM disabled for the 299k before you bought it? Anything you inspected to make sure the AFM didn’t mess anything up? I want to know what to look for on these. Thanks.

    Jesus I hate seeing quality trucks ruined in New England. Just using a hose in the spring will do wonders, using fluid film or something like it will make these trucks last twice as long up here. Crazy to me the money people drop on these things just to let them turn to this.
