They’re the same ones that go into every restaurant pasta you’ve ever loved: Salt the boiling water; cook the pasta al dente; create a silky sauce that marries pasta water, Parmesan, olive oil, and butter.

Reminds me of my 'cant be bothered to cook' meals.
1 cup cherry tomatos, sliced
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 tsp chilli flakes
1/2 tsp dried oregano
3 TBS olive oil
Hand full of Spaghetti
Grated Parmasan.
Start Spaghetti in boiling water
Add olive oil, garlic and chilli flakes to pan to sweat
Add tomatos for 30 seconds before adding 1/2 cup of pasta water
Add dried Oregano
Add more pasta water as required over a medium high heat until the tomatos break down
Transfer cooked pasta into tomato sauce
Grate over Parmasen and mix,
Serve!
Takes about 8 mins start to finish, costs nothing and tastes delicious!

TIP FOR NEVER BURNING GARLIC
Put your garlic and olive oil together in the cold pan. Place pan on the absolute lowest heat setting. Ten minutes later, perfectly saute'ed garlic.

I love making this sauce! I don’t usually add anchovies and the lemon varies on if I have it. But it’s always amazing!! Thank you Bon Appetit and Andy!😊
Some good tips, I had slightly different ingredients but used the principles, like only cooking the pasta 2/3rds of the way through before transferring to the sauce, using some of the pasta water, etc and it turned out great, I think the addition of the lemon zest really made it. Thanks Andy!

I love this, I had to idea BA had a recipe for it, I make this pasta all the time. Sometimes I add some fresh cherry tomatoes and/or capers.

Good Job Andy! I ate aglio e' oilo at least twice a week since I was practically born. My parents from Italy believed that every dinner must have a pasta (because it was cheap (we were poor) and delicious).You brought back memories, thank you. Pasta is good food!!!!

Just made a pasta dish inspired by this video but substituted anchovy for two sliced chicken sausages, browned, and penne, instead of the longer pasta. Tripled the red pepper flake (needs the kick and is just barely spicy on my scale) and substituted parsley for three sprigs worth of fresh thyme and four large basil leaves julienned at the end. Turned out really well! First time I’ve ever used pasta water in a sauce before. Didn’t have a lemon but I would definitely use one next time. It needs the fresh citrus acid flavor and didn’t get enough from the thyme. Pasta continued to cook in the sauce off heat for 5 min and it turned out perfect. Very fast and easy recipe.

I've been doing this for a while. I like sun dried tomatoes and frozen peas added at the end in mine with the anchovies and garlic. It's a great meal but super cheap.
