    I didn't really hear anything that seemed like a subjective analysis of the vehicle while you were driving it. It just sounded like a press release by Honda. One of their big weaknesses in the past has been road noise. Is it really improved? How does it stack up against its competitors in the department?

    Dave, you've gone over the spec sheet for the vehicle but I'm more interested to hear your take on the vehicle's performance.
    The new engine is a big departure and I would have like to have heard your impressions on it's performance, along with the CVT and the changes to ride and handling.
    Love the channel but wanted more subjective info on this one.

    Such a good looking crossover car. This and the new Outback are the top two best over all vehicle in my opinion of course. Funny how this is so good and starts out 6K less than the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross that starts at 30k and not nearly as good as this CR-V.

    Do you have any comments regarding the gas / oil problem with the I4 turbo that caused the Chinese recall / sales ban? It's also being reported in Canada and disproportionate engine problem complaints are being recorded with the American NHTSA. It seems it mostly affects customers in the northern climates. I ask because I was going to buy a 2018 EXL and now am reticent to do that until the problem is reliably corrected - especially living in Buffalo! Thoughts?

      I never like to buy the First Year of a New Engine design... Stick with the 2.4 Liter with 184 horsepower. Turbo engines means more complicated and possible engine problems/issues. I would wait 2 years before getting a Turbo, when all flaws are fixed.

    • @nunofurbiznes5120
      @nunofurbiznes5120 5 років тому

      @@johnherrera7551: My 2018 was "fixed" by Honda. After 1000 miles, the "oil" was WAY above full - past the orange tab on the end of the dipstick. The oil was diluted by MORE than 5% fuel, which most people would consider severe. I am not alone. Google the CRV owners club forum for oil dilution (the forum search tool is sheet, just like Honda's 1.5L turbo) and you'll find many people who had the "fix" and still have the problem. In fact, there are some people who didn't have the problem, but do now AFTER the fix. There are also reports by people who own a 2019 that have the problem. There were so MANY threads about oil dilution that the moderators closed all but ONE thread down (perhaps "guided" by Honda?), meaning that all of the closed oil dilution threads are now "stale" / no longer current and are slowly being pushed back in time on the forum and no longer feature prominently on the first page. Not sure where you're getting your statistics, but if it's from Honda, I don't know why anyone would trust them.

    Honda has been making some weird looking rim designs & it's funny cause the base trim Hondas (the LX trim) have better looking rim designs than the other trim levels... But this is one of the best looking & premium looking crossovers in its class.The tail lights remind me of a Lexus RX & the LED turning indicators in the tail lights look very premium (like an Escalade), can't think of any other crossover in its class that offers LED turning indicators in the tail lights

    I enjoy your reviews--you're one of the best. But can you please do a CR-V review focusing on real world conditions in winter conditions on regular roads? I am a bit discouraged by the "fail" video in the Spokane park you did last winter. But in some ways that wasn't fair--the CR-V is a road car, not an off-road car. What I want to see is a review that takes it on some back roads--not horrible gravel roads in the middle of nowhere but just secondary back roads like the kinds I might drive on, that are snowy and slippery and of marginal quality, plowed last after everything else, you know what I mean. I'd like to get your impressions about how the CR-V handles those conditions. Thanks.

  • @InvestBetter.

    I like the redesign/ Honda did a good job, but the Rogue and Rav4 have actually gained market share since it hit the streets. They now outsell this CRV in 2017. Toyota dropped prices about $1000 when Honda brought this out. Looks like that was enough.

    • @sparklander
      @sparklander 6 років тому +2

      Bitcoin University Add to that, Toyota offers their safety package on ALL trim levels of the RAV4.

    • @jacobreed47
      @jacobreed47 6 років тому +7

      True, I would take the new CR-V over the new Rav 4 any day. I don't like the looks at all. Both will last, Honda has better MPG, Toyota stock safety equipment. Both better than the Eclipse Cross that btw costs more for some reason.

    • @davetravels9273
      @davetravels9273 6 років тому +8

      Honda sensing is standard on all trims but the base model. The CR-V has superior handling and interior quality and android-auto /apple CarPlay. If you take both for a test drive, there is no way you would choose a RAV4, but most people blindly buy their cars...

    • @disco.lemonade
      @disco.lemonade 6 років тому +6

      And the outselling, is counting the fleet sales? Because last time I checked you won't find CRV's in rentals, whereas Rav4's... well. Despite all that, Honda keeps being better, regarding the margin.

    • @2013TombRaider
      @2013TombRaider 6 років тому +2

      Bitcoin University nope you are wrong and right at the same time, rogue has been beating crv in sales but not rav4 even though Toyota decreased the prices crv is still outselling rav4 in numbers in pretty much every quarter of the year and it's super close to rogue in whole year sales

Huge China recall on the 1.5T engine about 6 months ago about 500, 000 CRV's . Honda has DONE NOTHING in North America with same issue !!! Gas in Oil is huge issue . Engines will fail after warrantee period , prematurely , after warrantee . CAN be safety issue , as well .

    • @javar888
      @javar888 5 років тому

      could be with the 2019 as well . Problem NOT fixed as far as I'm aware ! Premature wear out will happen w/o clean , non-gased , oil gang !!!

    • @johnherrera7551
      @johnherrera7551 5 років тому

      False. Honda has a fix for 2017/18s which is covered by warranty. All 2019s will have the fix. It affected around 7% in N.A.

    Dave Camry or Legacy which is better? Is it true subie has head gasket issues

    • @francismartinez6049
      @francismartinez6049 6 років тому

      Wallrus Moose Camry is 10X more reliable. Head gasket issues have "apparently" been fixed, however Subarus have had oil burning problems and make weak automatic transmissions. Another important factor is that the aftermarket parts for the Camry will be cheaper. The Subarus are not as mass produced as the Camry, therefore parts will be more expensive to replace. I have myself a 93 Camry V6 with over 675,000 miles and it runs excellent. I couldn't recommend any other vehicle.

    • @lawdog516
      @lawdog516 6 років тому +8

      Justin David I had several Honda’s with the CVT, they make great cars but I don’t like the “rubber band” feel of the CVT. It also drones when accelerating, Justin this is just my opinion and is subjective. Also I don’t believe you will get as many miles out of it like a traditional trans. I believe they use it to get the most gas mileage out of the engine, also you cannot repair a CVT, you have to replace it completely.

    • @francismartinez6049

      Joey Segreti the regular automatics that Honda makes are weak too. I would personally only buy a Honda product with a manual

      Zenith yeah the Hondas have had transmission issues for years and their new models such as the pilot and Acura products still show evidence of transmission problems. I'd take a look at the RAV4 or a used RX350 if you want more power

    • @jmasoncars4452
      @jmasoncars4452 6 років тому +2

      Brian Lawrance the 9speed is a ZF sourced transmission being replaced with the new honda developed 10 speed. Other than the 9 speed, hondas transmissions have been fine.

    They use to have 2.4 L engine it was under power ... they put 1.5L it's still under power that turbo it's like a old horse. Honda Honda why don't you put a 2 L turbo from accord with 252 hp ??? Why why ?? Younger people want to drive not to fell asleep behind the steering wheel.

    • @francismartinez6049
      @francismartinez6049 6 років тому +2

      Walter 777 because even if they would offer it, they wouldn't sell as many units. Remember the V6 Rav 4. They produced them for a couple of years, but 90%+ chose the 4 cylinder which gives you decent power and great gas mileage. The vehicles in the class really don't need that kind of power.

    • @Walter-hg2nr
      @Walter-hg2nr 6 років тому +1

      Brian Lawrance I understand but don't you think they would bring more buyers??? 62 hp more that would a big different. The engine which they have right now is luck of power !!! (((((

    • @francismartinez6049
      @francismartinez6049 6 років тому +1

      Walter 777 it's a CRV. Honda knows their market. Most people are going to find the base powertrain more than adequate. I test drove a 2015 CRV with the 2.4L and it was plenty adequate, however I can't speak about the new turbo. Plus, if Honda offered more power in the CRV, It would give buyers a reason to chose a Honda over an Acura. The Acura sales would go down .Because an Acura RDX is pretty much a Honda CRV with a V6.
