The idea sounds good in theory. However, as someone who worked as a full time land surveyor, none of the painted measuring marks on the spade will be left after a week of heavy use. The marks on the handle would last a while, but digging through anything other soft soil (gravel, sand, clay, or ice), creates too much friction and wears off any design they put on it. Even if the lines are engraved, they would wear down over time as well. It would be great for occasional gardening, but not so much for heavy-duty everyday use unless the shovel itself (outside of the gimmick) was better quality than competitors

They should of held out, trenching shovels, post hole diggers, etc its a very useful idea. even if you wanted to measure how far you dig away from the house. Simple yet, excellent idea.
His idea is so simple that it is shocking it wasn't already done and is pretty much destined to succeed if he went with the licensing route. Any major shovel manufacturer would see it advantageous to add it to their design
I think a lot of people will have trouble seeing the imprints. Especially after a few uses and dirt getting into the divots. I think the lines need an addition. Either very bold and thick for specific use. Many will not be able to see the numbers.
If it gets so caked in dirt that you can't see the measuring marks, a little splash of water and a quick sweep with a glove will do plenty. And if you're working in thick mud that is going to embed in the divots, wouldn't the same happen with a ruler or measuring tape or whatever to make it illegible?
@@zacharias7284 you don’t dig the measuring tape in when measuring, so no that wouldn’t happen. You might get a little dirt, mud, grim, etc on the tip but it’s nothing to worry about since if you consider that your digging with a shovel I’m sure you won’t be measuring just 1-3 inches or so. Besides anyone that has to dig to a certain depth will most likely already have a tape measure and a shovel so why buy another shovel? Especially for companies that buy in bulk. Sounds good in theory but anyone with real experience would agree that it’s just not that great of a product to replace the ones we’ve been using.
I have been writing measurements on my shovel handles for decades. Great idea but wouldn’t spend extra for one cause it cost almost nothing to mark the measurement I need on the handle.
i like the idea but, having worked in plumbing and having to dig foundation i dont think its a good shovel if youre working with mud or anything like it, itll dry/build up on the shovel and make it take longer to scrap off if its molded in, then after some time itll just wear out the printing if it was printed on

The product isn’t made yet. The product isn’t for sale yet. It’s nothing but a idea right now. If being sold already that would make a difference.
Kevin's 'no' after dramatic pause had me in stitches
They should of held out, trenching shovels, post hole diggers, etc its a very useful idea. even if you wanted to measure how far you dig away from the house. Simple yet, excellent idea.
His idea is so simple that it is shocking it wasn't already done and is pretty much destined to succeed if he went with the licensing route. Any major shovel manufacturer would see it advantageous to add it to their design
Shovels have had measurements on them for years
I think a lot of people will have trouble seeing the imprints.
7:48 I love Kevin
I have been writing measurements on my shovel handles for decades. Great idea but wouldn’t spend extra for one cause it cost almost nothing to mark the measurement I need on the handle.
i like the idea but, having worked in plumbing and having to dig foundation i dont think its a good shovel if youre working with mud or anything like it, itll dry/build up on the shovel and make it take longer to scrap off if its molded in, then after some time itll just wear out the printing if it was printed on
I am amazed at this kid's presentation. I probably won't be able to do something like that ever in my life.
Anyone can do it, just gotta believe and tell yourself you can
i loveeee the matching color in their outfits 🥲💓
Very enjoyable episode. Kid could be a role model for other young inspiring men.
He's an actor
😅😂😅😂😅 the other guy Daniel was out of the question from the get go !
Man I wish there was an app to be able to be a shark on ideas like this. It’s gonna run the competition off the market and 40k is something I would no doubt be a shark!! Good luck
Kid's a born salesman. What a pitch!
Kevin is too funny
Can you dig it!
Nope. Mr Wonderful said, “ Maddox, I can not be a discounted Shark. I’m a Premium Shark. Can you dig it?
Your life must be wonderful.
"Didn't even know it was a shovel until you showed me" LOL! Thats what money does to you!
Rip to the dad, sad he got sick a week after filming.
Daaamn rip
im glad hes not in this messed up world anymore :(
He already has cancer when this was film they just didn't know
nice to see the positive entrepreneurial influence shark tank/sharks have given the youth these days 👏🏼🤞🏼
Daniel is such a great hearted person. Hands down the nicest shark with the biggest heart.
I thought that sometimes too, but he once tried to totally screw over one woman. Her product was meh, but it used a brilliant mechanism which she patented that could have tons of other applications (she didn't seem to realize how huge that could be). His offer was okay but it involved giving him 100% of the rights to using that mechanism anywhere else. All the other sharks immediately were like "Do NOT take that offer!"
@@grumbles that’s only one time though. Everyone gets a little greedy every now and then. Every one of the other sharks have made offers to completely buy out people’s businesses or take majority of the company on multiple occasions. They are savages compared to Daniel. The guy has a bigger heart then every one of the other sharks in my opinion. But like I said, it’s an opinion and everyone is free to their own 🤙🏻🤙🏻
I think I would of started crying if I was home when they said no to his counter offer 🤣🤣
0:33 what pills does the mom take must be joker pills 🃏😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
😂
@TraTravis ^^ ;)
Maddox is a wonderful example from who we should learn that apart from being creative, one needs to learn Business at a young age in order to become a successful entrepreneur in the years that follow.
5:57 epia yoka ye 😂❤
Great job, young man. Great job parents!!!!
A young man doing his thing is a blessing big ups to you young man stay focused
Great kid and family
Bro I literally saw this invention on Curious George like 10 years ago
I would absolutely buy this. Too bad it's not for sale.
bro gives his teacher homework
As a plumber, that’s actually pretty ingenious.
Wait until you find out about my invention. It's a shovel with a kickstand. Construction and roadwork companies employed by the State can just buy my invention once instead of paying an employee an hourly wage to stand around with a shovel in their hands.
